Abstract: Located between Istros and Orgamè, Karaburun is one of the archaic Greek colonies in the southern Danube delta with an occupation period beginning in the mid-6 th c. BC. Nowadays, the remains of the ancient settlement are located close to the shores of lagoon Goloviţa within the Razelm-Sinoe lagoon system which forms the southern part of the Danube Delta. Here, we provide results of mid/late Holocene fresh water Ostracoda analyses from coastal modern lake basins in the Thrace region of Istanbul and Sarikum Lake, on the Black Sea coast near Sinop. Sea water samples were collected from different sampling stations along the Lebanese coast in the summer of 1994. Chemical, biological and physical analysis were conducted to assess the recreational water quality in Lebanon.<br>Some 125 samples were then analyzed for the presence of Cadmium and Mercury by atomic absorption spectrophotometry. Sea Stories is a collection of creative nonfiction essays centered around the growth of a young woman through her experiences with water and ships. The pieces trace the origins of the narrator's tie to water from a childhood involving boating with her dad to sailing a brigantine across the Pacific Ocean and then a six-year career as an officer in the U.S. Coast Guard.
