Maintaining the sustainable quantity and quality of water resources is crucial for fluvial systems, as well as for human life. This study describes the long-term annual river flow within the Brda River catchment of Poland, a fluvial system subjected to the strong hydrotechnical transformations of a cascade of dams. Our research was based on the following hydrological data (1951–2021), meteorological data (1971–2021), and climate scenarios (2022–50) to determine observed and simulated annual river flows. - The process that led to the creation of the Independent Republic of Slovenia in 1991 also led to a significant effort to rewrite the history of Slovenia and Ljubljana. In fact, there were many scholars who believed that there was no city planning before 1895, when Ljubljana was destroyed by an earthquake (Breda Mihelic, ... cit.). Others argued that there were plans that had been drawn up before the earthquake, but they had left only partial traces if they implemented at all. Up to 1849 Ljubljana was an important as an established river transit port for goods to and from the Danube basin. Fr

The research allowed the authors to identify various types of adverse, destructive and erosion processes in the canyon of the Smotrych River. Now the ecological situation within the Smotrytsya canyon is quite difficult. The main factor in the deterioration of the situation is anthropogenic and man-made load: quarrying, garbage accumulation, unauthorized agriculture on the slopes of the canyon.
Within the Smotric canyon, natural water and wind erosion are manifested, which in most cases are combined and the processes of destruction as a result of their action are intensified. Studies of e

The Hellenistic plastic vessels or, more specific, ram-shaped Knidian reliefs have been identified as source of inspiration. Pollution caused by closed mining activities is particularly difficult to treat because it dates back a very long time. Water contamination results from large-scale disturbance of the land on which the underground exploitation of the useful mineral substance took place. Discharges from underground mines can be treated as diffuse point sources; water quality is due to reactions that occur in an area that can cover tens of square kilometres. The main sources are groundwater, which increases after the pumping is stopped, and tailings stored in dumps and tailings ponds. When the mine closes, the p

In order to determine the health status and dietary habits of the individuals buried at this site, non-specific stress markers (cribra orbitalia, porotic hyperostosis, enamel hypoplasia) and dietary indicators (dental caries, antemortem tooth loss) were observed. Although much research has explored the transition to early village life in the Maya Lowlands, comparatively less attention has focused on the ~6000-year period of Archaic occupation in the region. Initiatives like the Belize Archaic Archaeological Reconnaissance (BAAR) Project were ground-breaking forty years ago, and firmly established an Archaic presence in northern Belize. While the interpretations and lithic chronological sequences developed by the BAAR are problematic, the published results are still widely cited and support a growing body of new research on this period. High temporal resolution aerosol optical depth (AOD) products are very important for the studies of atmospheric environment and climate change. Geostationary Ocean Color Imager (GOCI) is a suitable data source for AOD retrieval, as it can monitor hourly aerosol changes and make up for the low temporal resolution deficiency of polar orbiting satellite. In this study, we proposed an algorithm for retrieving high temporal resolution AOD using GOCI data and then applied the algorithm in the Yangtze River Delta, a typical region suffering severe air pollution issues. Abstract Cancer immunotherapy with immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICI) has shown durable clinical benefits in patients with immune-hot tumors. However, the majority of cancers are characterized by an immune-cold tumor microenvironment, which are refractory to ICI therapy. Targeting of tumor synthetic vulnerabilities due to genomic alterations is another promising approach that has proven effective in the clinic (e.g. PARP inhibitors in BRCA-mutant tumors). Here, we aimed to identify therapeutic targets that have dual liabilities in tumor cell survival and the evasion of anti-tumor innate immune
