This paper examines foreign policy change, identifying structural parameters of domestic and international origins that bring about major foreign policy shifts. Domestic structural parameters comprise the politico-institutional setting and advocacy groups in support of alternative foreign policy options. International structural parameters refer on the one hand to systemic changes that may bring about foreign policy realignment and, on the other hand, to the country’s role in the international system and its interactions with other countries that may activate foreign policy changes. A high dependence on imports is observed in the segment of forest machine- building products. The volume of production of logging machines and woodworking equipment remains insufficient – both in terms of the number of manufactured equipment and its consumer properties. The main problem of domestic mechanical engineering remains low competitiveness in relation to products manufactured by leading foreign companies. The lack of competitiveness of the domestic forest machine building is largely due to the lack of funds for the technical and technological renewal of production at the majorit

This paper explores post-Nazarbayev state-building in Kazakhstan, focusing on domestic and foreign policy implications of the power transition. After thirty years of incumbency, President Nursultan Nazarbayev stepped down in 2019, smoothly transferring the power to his nominee, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, and thus plunged the country into a sensitive phase of power transition. This study suggests that the power transition in Kazakhstan has not led to significant improvements in terms of human rights and political freedoms protection, leaving the state of the weak opposition and constrained civil so

Empirical evidence points to globalization being favorable for a nation’s growth and development. For the Philippines, trade openness and foreign portfolio helped increase per capita GDP as investment and productivity improved. With trade openness and globalization, nations share and gain access to knowledge and technology, inputs of lower costs, new markets, and talents, which improve domestic economic processes. Over the years, however, skepticism about globalization emerged, which affects governments’ foreign strategies and policies and, in turn, the realization of intended benefits. With r

Nevertheless, the elections have not resolved Armenia’s political crisis, one in which it has found itself since 2020. It argues that countries in a position to integrate themselves into world capital markets should develop specific policies to deal with capital flows. This paper first shows that foreign capital inflows are not only larger and more volatile but also that their effects on key macroeconomic variables are much stronger in emerging developing countries than in developed countries. Next, the two opposing paradigms regarding capital flows are discussed in detail. Then, a simple classical open economy mac
