Abstract:
This study documents impacts to the Fremont River that were initiated by the construction of Utah State Route 24 in 1962 within what is now Capitol Reef National Park (CARE). The highway and related river modifications led to an artificial abandonment of a 4000 ft long river meander, creation of a channel bed knickpoint (i.e., waterfall), and at least 9 ft of vertical incision into the underlying Navajo Sandstone. Channel incision also appears to have translated upstream, as we found a significant trend of a deeper channel immediately upstream of the knickpoint that transitioned to being wider

Abstract:
Glen Canyon National Recreation Area (GLCA) encompasses more than 0.5 million ha (1.25 million ac) and extends over 322 km (200 mi) from its northern boundary in southern Utah to its southern boundary in northern Arizona. It is one of the most rugged, remote, and floristically diverse national parks on the Southern Colorado Plateau (Thomas et. al 2005) and has more than 4,900 km (3,045 mi) of waterways flowing through its eight Hydrologic Unit Code (HUC 8) watersheds. GLCA’s larger perennial rivers include the Colorado, Escalante, Dirty Devil, San Juan, and Paria, with smaller perennial and in

Abstract:
The Southeast Coast Network (SECN) stream habitat monitoring protocol collects data to give park resource managers insight into the status of and trends in stream and near-channel habitat conditions (McDonald et al. 2018a). Wadeable stream assessments are currently implemented at the five SECN inland parks with wadeable streams. These parks include Horseshoe Bend National Military Park, Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield, Ocmulgee Mounds National Historical Park, Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area, and Congaree National Park. Streams chosen for assessment were specifically target

Abstract:
In recent decades, a significant number of developing countries have implemented fiscal incentives programs for the tourism industry as part of their regional development policies. The main objective of these programs is to increase local investment and employment, as tourism activities are labor intensive. Little evidence is available, however, to assess the effect of these policies on job creation. This paper analyzes a fiscal incentives program that the Brazilian federal government introduced in 2002 to develop the tourism industry in the undeveloped region of Northeast Brazil. It provides

Abstract:
This rapid literature review examines evidence on interventions have been used to create green jobs in developing countries. The ‘green jobs’ concept does not have a singular and universally accepted definition. Many development organisations have come up with their own definitions, however all definitions share both an “environmental” and “decent jobs” component. Green job growth has been mostly documented in developed countries and some rapidly growing middle-income countries. However, it is becoming clearer that a green economy can create more and better jobs in all parts of the world (incl
