Abstract:
Abstract This article presents the results of scientific-pedagogical research, which consisted in analyzing the American experience of the Dalton plan in the schooling of the Netherlands, the ranking surveys according to strict criteria, and the implementation of an adapted version of the original American pedagogical model of the Dalton Plan in the schooling of Holland; characterizing the features of the introduction of the Dalton Plan into the Dutch educational systems. While researching the works of M. Montessory, H. Parkhurst and D. Lager, had been examined as the main source of the study. The archival documents of the biggest collection of Helen Parkhurst papers of the Archive of University of Wisconsin Stevens Point had been analyzed. It was studied that American experience of the Dalton Plan is top ranked among private institutions of the country. It is obvious that after the United States, the country of the Dalton Plan origin, the continental Europe and Holland have a dominant position regarding the implementation of the Dalton plan in the educational systems. It is stated that schools implementing the Dalton Plan are united in recognizing the fact that such a pedagogical model ensures the development of the student’s individuality and his social experience. The special advantage the Dalton students obtain is the ability to use different approaches and sources in seeking information that is necessary for the organization and achievement of their own research. The ideas of the Dalton Plan can be justified in the light of modern theory and research. The Dalton Plan was successfully implemented into the primary and secondary schools of the Netherlands ranked the counrty11th in the world education survey. The Dalton Plan philosophy became one of the components of the complicated Dutch educational system.

Abstract:
In research focused on self-efficacy it is usually teacher-related phenomena that are studied, while the main aspects related to pupils are rather neglected, although self-efficacy itself is perceived as a belief in one’s own abilities. Evidently, this strongly influences the behavior of individuals in terms of the goal and success in mathematical problem-solving. Considering that alternative teaching methods are based on the principle of belief in one’s own ability (mainly in the case of group work), higher self-efficacy can be expected in the pupils of teachers who use predominantly the well-working pupil-centered pedagogies. A total of 1133 pupils in grade 5 from 36 schools in the Czech Republic were involved in the testing of their ability to solve mathematical problems and their mathematical self-efficacy as well. Participants were divided according to the above criteria as follows: (i) 73 from Montessori primary schools, (ii) 332 pupils educated in mathematics according to the Hejný method, (iii) 510 pupils from an ordinary primary school, and (iv) 218 pupils completing the Dalton teaching plan. In the field of mathematical problem-solving the pupils from the Montessori primary schools clearly outperformed pupils from the Dalton Plan schools (p = 0.027) as well as pupils attending ordinary primary schools (p = 0.009), whereas the difference between the Montessori schools and Hejný classes was not significant (p = 0.764). There is no statistically significant difference in the level of self-efficacy of pupils with respect to the preferred strategies for managing learning activities (p = 0.781). On the other hand, correlation between mathematical problem-solving and self-efficacy was confirmed in all the examined types of schools. However, the correlation coefficient was lower in the case of the pupils from the classes applying the Hejný method in comparison with the pupils attending the Montessori schools (p = 0.073), Dalton Plan schools (p = 0.043), and ordinary primary schools (p = 0.002). Even though the results in mathematical problem-solving are not consistent across the studies, the presented results confirm better performance of pupils in some constructivist settings, particularly in the case of individual constructivism in the Montessori primary schools. The factors influencing lower correlation of self-efficacy and performance in mathematical problem-solving ought to be subject to further investigation.

Abstract:
Abstract The education system of the province of Ontario, Canada ranks among the best in the world and has been touted as a model of excellence for other countries seeking to improve their education system. In a system-wide reform, leaders used a political and professional perspective to improve student performance on basic academic skills. The school system rose to renown after this reform which moved Ontario from a “good” system in 2000 to a “great” one between 2003 and 2010 (Mourshed M, Chijioke C, Barber M. How the world’s most improved school systems keep getting better, a report McKinsey & Company. Retrieved from https://www.mckinsey.com/industries/social-sector/our-insights/how-the-worlds-most-improved-school-systems-keep-getting-better, (2010)). Premier Dalton McGuinty arrived in office in 2003 with education as his priority and was dubbed the “Education Premier” because of this mandate. His plan for reform had two primary goals: to improve student literacy and numeracy, and to increase secondary school graduation rates. McGuinty also wanted to rebuild public trust that had been damaged under the previous administration. The essential element of Ontario’s approach to education reform was allowing educators to develop their own plans for improvement. Giving responsibility and freedom to educators was critical in improving professional norms and accountability among teachers (Mourshed M, Chijioke C, Barber M. How the world’s most improved school systems keep getting better, a report McKinsey & Company. Retrieved from https://www.mckinsey.com/industries/social-sector/our-insights/how-the-worlds-most-improved-school-systems-keep-getting-better, (2010)) and the sustained political leadership throughout the entire reform concluding in 2013 provided an extended trajectory for implementing and adjusting learning initiatives. The Ministry of Education’s Student Achievement Division, which was responsible for designing and implementing strategies for student success, took a flexible “learning as we go” attitude in which the reform strategy adapted and improved over time (Directions Evidence and Policy Research Group. The Ontario student achievement division student success strategy evidence of improvement study. Retrieved from http://www.edu.gov.on.ca/eng/research/EvidenceOfImprovementStudy.pdf, (2014)). This chapter will discuss influences on the reform design and key components of strategies to support student and teacher development and build a relationship of accountability and trust among teachers, the government and the public. The successes and shortcomings of this reform will be discussed in the context of their role in creating a foundation for the province’s next steps towards fostering twenty-first century competencies in classrooms.

Abstract This chapter includes differential characters to distinguish the family Pteromalidae (Chalcidoidea), hypothesized phylogenetic relationships with other families, and general biological attributes of the family. Previous cataloguing efforts of the Iranian fauna for the family are summarized, as well as the information included in the checklist of species for the family. This summary information includes the number of species recorded from Iran, any newly recorded species, a comparison of the Iranian fauna with those of adjacent countries, and major host attributes of the family in Iran. For each species record, reference is included to catalogues that previously reported presence of the species in Iran, including Noyes (2019), distribution in Iran by province and extra-limital distribution by country. In addition to currently recognized countries, previously recognized political units are also included such as Yugoslavia and USSR, as well as some non-political regions such as Caucasus and Transcaucasus (a geographical region in the vicinity of the southern Caucasus Mountains on the border of Eastern Europe and Western Asia that roughly corresponds to present-day Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan). Also included for each species record are host records and plant associates in Iran, when known, and additional comments as necessary.

Abstract:
The state of South Carolina is examined by the physiographic provinces of Mountains, Piedmont, and Coastal Plain using established Paleoindian projectile point types and their geographic distributions by raw materials. Foraging ranges are reconstructed. There is a substantial drop in post-Clovis point frequencies, as seen elsewhere in the Southeast, with a great increase by Dalton times. Younger Dryas age environmental changes are reviewed, with late Pleistocene flora and fauna changes noted. Starting in Dalton times, sea level rise appears to have affected settlement strategies due to the inundation of the primary resource habitats of the Coastal Plain. The Piedmont Transhumance hypothesis is offered as an explanation of these changes.

Abstract:
RMIT University is Australia’s second largest higher education provider and has a very diverse student body. Taking a holistic approach and capturing the entire student life cycle, the RMIT Belonging Strategy outlines a rationale and plan for delivering belonging interventions across the whole institution. An institution wide strategy requires economic, political and global considerations; however, as grass-roots academics, our work is informed by the philosophy that education can affect positive communitarian and individual change, and that meaningful and authentic relations with staff and students enable genuine collaboration and growth (Chickering, Dalton, & Stamm, 2006; Kreber, 2013). Guided by these principles, we identified five drivers that impact student belonging at the university, and proposed a measurement framework to form an ‘index’ of belonging that can be tracked and reported. This paper focuses on the innovative and collaborative work of developing an enterprise wide strategy for inclusive belonging and presents a roadmap of the process. We argue that grassroots, practical responses through learning experience interventions have the greatest potential to influence student engagement.

Abstract:
Over the past 20 years underinvestment has led to the UK’s nuclear skills base being run down to the point where it is now very fragile and the cracks are showing. As a result a number of key nuclear science and engineering disciplines are now showing signs of shortages developing which is being reflected in both industry and academia. Fortunately, the skills gap has been recognised and the trend of underinvestment is being reversed. Industry, Government and the Research Councils are starting to take steps to address the issue and new nuclear education and research initiatives are underway including the Dalton Nuclear Institute and the plans to create a National Nuclear Laboratory. The concern over a skills gap still exists but hopefully with the realisation of high profile projects such as new nuclear build, the establishment of a National Nuclear Laboratory and continued support from the UK’s Research Councils, involvement in the nuclear field will prove to be an attractive career option for a greater number of people which will put the UK back in the position of having a vibrant and sustainable world class nuclear skills base.

Abstract:
We have studied a low molecular weight heparin (LMWH) obtained by acontrolled peroxidative depolymerization of beef mucosal heparin (OP 2123, Opocrin, Corlo, Italy). This product was found to be significantly different from other LMWHs in that it exhibits the same COO-/SO2- ratios as unfractionated heparin, contains reducing end groups composed of 2-sulfated iduronic acid or 6-disulfated glucosamine and retains an identical structural integrity as that of native heparin. As opposed to most other LMWHs the oligosaccharide components of OP 2123 consist of homogeneous progressive units. In addition, the relative amount of AT-IIIaffinity components in OP 2123 were 20-30% less than other LMWHs. OP 2123 has a mean molecular weight of 6200 daltons with a potency of 90 anti-factor Xa U/mg and 68 USP U/mg. This agent produced strong antithrombotic actions in a rabbit stasis model against both an activated prothrombin complex and a prothrombin complex concentrate/Russell's viper venomcombination (ED50:(IV) 30-70 ug/kg;(SC) 0.6-1.5 mg/kg). The antithrombotic effects were comparable to other LMWHs in normal rabbits: however, in AT III depleted rabbits (immunodepleted and y thrombin depleted), OP 2123 produced stronger antithrombotic effects than most other LMWHs. The in vitro systems in contrast to other LMWHs, CP 2123 produced stronger inhibitory effects in AT III depleted plasma as measured by fibrinopeptide A generation and amidolytic anti-factor Xa and anti-factor Ila methods. The relative heparin cofactor II activity as measured by amidolytic method was also found to be higher than with most LMWHs. These results suggest that OP 2123, unlike most LMWHs, non AT III mediated actions play a major role in themendiation of the antithrombotic actions.

Abstract:
The West Pacific Petrochemical Company Limited, Dalian is the first enterprise that adopts risk-based inspection (RBI) technology in the oil refinery plants in China, the application of RBI technology plays a positive role in guaranteeing long-cycle operation of the plant. With the continuous deepening of degree of understanding of API 581 standard and continuous enriching of experience with use of RBI software, by tracing the risks, there are three major factors that affect the risk of equipment or component, i.e. risk consequence, failure likelihood and management system, which are taken as the direction of efforts for guiding the implementation of equipment risk management measures. If there are litigation measures in the release consequence (sprinkler system or passive litigation technology) that can reduce continuous release rate and release time, then the release consequence of equipment can be reduced; if inspection techniques are adopted with respect to corrosion failure mechanisms or the proportion of inspection is increased in the failure likelihood, then the failure likelihood can be reduced effectively; and other measures such as analyzing the problems listed in each item of management system assessment and taking measures to improve management level and thus increase scores of management system by comparing the difference between the management of the enterprise itself and those listed in the standard. By implementing above measures, the ability of equipment risk management is improved and thus the intrinsic safety of equipment management is effectively guaranteed.

Abstract:
Deep draft multi-spar (DDMS) is an innovative platform which is specially designed for deepwater drilling and production in 2009 by Center for Deepwater Engineering, Dalian University of Technology. The hard tank of DDMS is composed of four columns at corners and a novel moonpool protecting the top tension risers at center. In addition, the top tension and self-weight of rigid risers are provided by air-cans in the moonpool. At the foot of hard tank, the pontoons and horizontal bracing are used to connect the separated columns and moonpool. It is noted that two heave plates are directly integrated with the hard tank in order to reduce the heave response. The middle section consists of 4 columns of smaller diameter which connect the hard tank and ballast tank. The early investigation indicates that the global hydrodynamic and motion behavior of DDMS are similar with Spar platform, and furthermore the heave natural period is close to the half pitch natural period. Therefore the DDMS platform may have possibility to trigger the Mathieu instability which has been validated on Spar platform through the numerical and experimental method. In this paper, a coupled heave and pitch motion equations of DDMS platform are established with accounting the time-varying restoring heave and pitch restoring stiffness. A damping case matrix is generated considering the heave plate damping, mooring line damping and hull drag damping. The damping ratios are identified by free-decay tests. The nonlinear motions under the action of regular waves of different periods and heights are numerically solved by the 4th order Runge-kutta method. The calculational results reveal that the heave damping significantly influences the occurrence of pitch instability, meanwhile the damping contribution of heave plates and mooring lines also play an important role in suppressing the instability. The phenomenon of Mathieu instability is owing to the energy exchange in this paper, and the mechanism of this phenomenon is amply studied as well as 3 different ways of instability are summarized.
