Abstract:
“I don’t believe they (lesbians and homosexuals) have any rights at all.”President Robert Mugabe, 2 August 1995I remember that it was a Monday. I had been running with my partner over lunch time and we had just returned to my office in town. The doorbell rang and standing outside were about nine policemen and women. Demanding entry, one of the senior officers brandished a search warrant for “pornographic material.”I was so angry I didn’t know what to do with myself. I had been targeted simply because I worked for the national Zimbabwean lesbian and gay organization. Furthermore, the police had no broader agenda other than to intimidate and harass me under the pretext of searching for pornography.

Abstract:
Children's literature can be an important vehicle to use when exploring various mathematical concepts (Whitin and Wilde 1992). Stories can help students understand the meaningful contexts that support mathematical thinking. They will see mathematics not as a prescribed set of algorithms to master but as a way of thinking about their world. Children's literature present a nonthreatening avenue to test out current notions about important mathematical concepts. The following two classroom scenarios occurred in Cassandra Gary's first-grade classroom in Irmo. South Carolina. She used two pieces of literature, The Line-up Book (Russo 1986) and The Doorbell Rang (Hutchins 1986), on two different occasions a springboards for mathematical thinking. The first book enabled her students to explore the concept of length, and the second story reinforced the concept of partitioning. Although each book ha a mathematical dimension, it is important to remember that they are, first and foremost, good pieces of literature. Each book is a unique literary experience and should be enjoyed for its own ake first. Gary read each story to the class cveral times and let the students voice their peronal. spontaneous observations and predictions. By so doing, the integrity of the literature is respected and preserved.

Abstract:
ABSTRACTIn this research, ultrasonic module is used to develop a simple automatic doorbell system. The system was implemented to help some visitors who are difficultto press a switch of conventional doorbell, such as a child and a disabled people. The aim of this study is to evaluate an optimal vertical and horizontal distance of an object in front of the door where can activate the doorbell system automatically. There are three main modules to implement the system i.e. ultrasonic sensor module; microcontroller based processing unit module; and buzzer module. The sensor module, which installed in the upper side of a door frame with approximately 15 to 20 degrees angle from the door, detects the distances of visitor. The buzzer module will active for five seconds when the visitor in the detection range of the sensor. The results showed that the buzzer module will be active when the sensor detected an object with 101 cm of minimum height (vertically) and 45.33 cm of average distance from the door (horizontally). Keywords: automatic, doorbell system, ultrasonic sensor, disabled people

Abstract:
This present research paper proposes every problem human race has ever faced, technology has given its answer. Technology has now evolved in each and every aspect of human world, from electric cars to smart washing machine and whatnot. Technology has improved life of differently blind people in many ways too. Our motivation for this project is to help deaf people respond non-speech crucial sounds efficiently so that they can live a normal life. In this project a user module is designed which will notify the user whenever the doorbell is pressed. The notification will be send through a wireless module which covers a good amount of range. One module will be hooked at the doorbell while other will be connected to the user module (a wearable device) with some LED/vibrating motor for the indication purpose. The LCD screen will display the text for notification purpose. These modules are controlled by Arduino control Unit.

Cannon, Ammie. "Controversial Politics, Conservative Genre: Rex Stout's Archie-Wolfe Duo and Detective Fiction's Conventional Form." BYU ScholarsArchive, 2006. https://scholarsarchive.byu.edu/etd/469.

Abstract:
Rex Stout maintained his popular readership despite the often controversial and radical political content expressed in his detective fiction. His political ideals often made him many enemies. Stances such as his ardent opposition to censorship, racism, Nazism, Germany, Fascism, Communism, McCarthyism, and the unfettered FBI were potentially offensive to colleagues and readers from various political backgrounds. Yet Stout attempted to present radical messages via the content of his detective fiction with subtlety. As a literary traditionalist, he resisted using his fiction as a platform for an often extreme political agenda. Where political messages are apparent in his work, Stout employs various techniques to mute potentially offensive messages. First, his hugely successful bantering Archie Goodwin-Nero Wolfe detective duo—a combination of both the lippy American and the tidy, sanitary British detective schools—fosters exploration, contradiction, and conflict between political viewpoints. Archie often rejects or criticizes Wolfe's extreme political viewpoints. Second, Stout utilizes the contradictions between values that occur when the form of detective fiction counters his radical political messages. This suggests that the form of detective fiction (in this case the conventional patterns and attitudes reinforced by the genre) is as important as the content (in this case the muted political message or the lack of overt politics) in reinforcing or shaping political, economic, moral, and social viewpoints. An analysis of the novels The Black Mountain (1954) and The Doorbell Rang (1965) and the novellas "Not Quite Dead Enough" and "Booby Trap" (1944) from Stout's Nero Wolfe series demonstrates his use of detective fiction for both the expression of political viewpoints and the muting of those political messages.
