In most patients the tumor will never progress to a lethal disease, while a subset of patients will ultimately die of the disease. Methods: Family history, BRCA mutation and age data were obtained for a subset of 91 individuals derived from the ELLA Binational Breast Cancer Study population, in order to determine the importance of family history in the context of BRCA mutation status. In Australia it is the second most prevalent and the second leading cause of cancer-related mortality with the number of CRC incidences doubling over the last decade. In 1992, a new clinical service for women with a family history was established in Edinburgh. This runs a multidisciplinary clinic with surgeons, geneticists, breast screening radiologists, nurses and a psychologist. The service was one of the first of its kind to be set up in the UK.
