Abstract:
It is not a secret that information resources are becoming increasingly important in the activities of the enterprises. The development of marketing information systems is associated, first of all, with a change in the role of marketing in the activities of enterprises and the development of new information technologies. If at the first stage of the functioning of marketing information systems, work was carried out with scattered arrays of information coming from the external environment irregularly, then gradually the process of collecting and processing marketing information became more systematized, and the information became more integrated, which facilitated the analysis and use of data within the company, improved the quality data entering the system. The main aim of the marketing information system in enterprises is to transform the available information about the state of the marketing object, as well as about the processes taking place in the marketing environment into the form necessary and perceived by the manager, which allows him to assess the state of the marketing object, the development of the situation, and simulate their change.

Abstract:
The present paper studies the process of information generation during design and focuses on the relationship between the information importance and the required effort for its generation. Multiple associative relationships among design entities (handled as design descriptors) are used to represent the design knowledge. The characteristics of the dependent and the primary descriptors are examined and their distinct roles in the design process are discussed. Term definitions concerning the information importance and the design effort are also introduced. The descriptors are used to form a matrix. A number of operations on this matrix results in its transformation, with the final matrix reflecting the quantitative relationship between the information importance and the design effort. From the aforementioned matrix, a unique sorted list for the primary design descriptors is produced. Following this list during descriptor instantiation ensures the production of design information of maximum importance with the least effort in the early design stages. The design of a belt conveyor is used as a basis for a better understanding of the theoretical analysis and for a demonstration of the use of the suggested descriptor list.

Abstract:
Though in the present age the Internet is an important resource for gathering information, there are also plenty of significant and helpful traditional sources. The best data collection strategy in information broker activity is one that employs techniques from both. The first part of the text is focused on the methodology of obtaining information. The author points out the place of information broker in the information process. One of the key aspects of the following analysis is an attempt to indicate the main definitions and classifications of the traditional sources of information in a field of historical knowledge as well as in the information science. The second part of the article considers information broker professional qualifications, since for him is important to know how to search, gather and integrate information from institution such as the national and private archives, libraries or museums.

Abstract:
Threats have accompanied humanity since the dawn of time. Most of them can develop into crisis situations that can be interpreted in many different ways. The crisis situation is closely linked with the concept of crisis management, which is implemented in four phases. At every stage of work, various elements are significant in terms of crisis management. There are also elements that are very important at every stage. These include: threat analysis, estimation of the probability of their occurrence in a given area, and assessment of their sensitivity. An appropriate information flow system supports the implementation of the above elements. This system should be effective in such relations as between services and between services and society. The effectiveness of information flow depends on the reliability of this information and its flow channel. Information is of particular importance in the decision-making process. It should have appropriate features and properties. Based on the information, both good and bad decisions can be made. In crisis management, this can be relevant to human health and even human life. This article discusses issues related to the nature of information in crisis management.

Abstract:
The experiment addressed the issue of what makes information important. The effects of three factors — category membership, normative relative importance, and goal-relatedness — were examined. Since these factors are difficult to isolate in existing schemas and categories, training materials were used to create a new schema for a fictitious insect family. The results indicated that all three factors were influencing the perceived importance of information to some extent. However, normative relative importance appeared to influence a writing task more strongly than a rating task.

Abstract:
AbstractWe show that the spatial information in historical sunspot records, in particular the latitude of the spots, can be of great importance in determining the long term behaviour of the solar magnetic cycle. We examine a continuous record of sunspots with full spatial data from 1853-1996 compiled from the records of Carrington, Spörer, the GPR and SOON. Analysis of the latitudinally-weighted observations indicates that there is a previously unremarked oscillation of the solar magnetic equator with a period of approximately 90 years.

Abstract:
Although school choice programs are common, we know little about the underlying decision-making processes. In this study, we randomly assigned 900 junior high schools in Ghana, a country with universal secondary school choice, to 1 of 3 treatment arms: (1) information to students, (2) information to students and guardians, and (3) control group. We observe changes in beliefs, behaviors, and the decision maker's identity through a survey of guardians. Our intervention increased the likelihood that guardians were involved with and informed about the school selection process. Moreover, specifically targeting guardians led to significantly larger changes for most outcomes.

Abstract:
Background: Erdheim-Chester disease (ECD) is a rare non-Langerhans cell histiocytosis disorder that utilizes the RAS-RAF-MEK-ERK pathway. It has a highly variable clinical presentation, where virtually any organ can be involved, thus having the potential of posing a great diagnostic challenge. Over half of the reported cases have the BRAF V600E mutation and have shown a remarkable response to vemurafenib. Case Presentation: We describe herein a patient with a history of stroke-like symptoms and retroperitoneal fibrosis that on initial pathology raised the possibility of IgG4-related disease. However, the patient was refractory to high-dose steroids and progressed further, developing an epicardial soft tissue mass and recurrent neurological symptoms. Integration of the above findings with new information at another hospital about a radiological history of symmetrical lower extremities long bone lesions raised the differential diagnosis of ECD. Molecular analysis of formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tissue of both of the patient’s retroperitoneal biopsies (the second one of which had shown a small focus of foamy histiocytes, CD68+/CD1a–) was positive for BRAF mutation, confirming the diagnosis of ECD. The patient demonstrated a dramatic and sustained metabolic response to vemurafenib on follow-up positron emission tomography scans. Conclusion: This case highlights the need for developing a high index of suspicion for presentations of retroperitoneal fibrosis that could represent IgG4-related disease but fail to respond to steroids. When unusual multisystem involvement occurs, one should consider a diagnosis of a rare histiocytosis. Vemurafenib appears to be an effective treatment for even advanced cases of both ECD and Langerhans histiocytosis bearing the BRAF V600E mutation.
