Information-measuring technologies (IMT) are an important instrument for solving problems of energy informatics. They allow to form primary information based on the interaction of energy facilities with IMT sensors that form information signals. In many practical applications, the constructive model of information signals is the model of narrowband signals. The article summarizes the features of the discrete Hilbert transform and its application to obtain the primary characteristics of information signals – bypass and phase as functions of time. Signals carrying information are encoded in molecular vibrational waves (vibronics) rather than in electric currents as widely done in microelectronics. We demonstrate theoretically that signals can be transmitted along a long polypeptide molecule; the signal is modulated in a terahertz carrier corresponding to a frequency of an intrinsic vibrational mode of the backbone of the polypeptide, via amplitude and frequency modulations. The modulated carrier is coupled as a vibrational wave to the polypeptide at one end of the molecule and propagates for more than 168 Å towards the other end. Digita

A designer commits to a signal distribution that is informative about a payoff-relevant state. Conditional upon the privately observed signals, agents take actions that affect their payoffs as well as those of the designer. We show how to derive the (designer) optimal information structure in static finite environments. We fully characterize it in a symmetric binary setting for a parameterized game. In this environment, conditionally independent private signals are never strictly optimal. (JEL C72, D78, D82, D83)

Abstract A memoryless agent can acquire arbitrarily many signals. After each signal observation, she either terminates and chooses an action, or she discards her observation and draws a new signal. We provide an optimality condition for the emerging stochastic choice. The condition highlights the benefits of selective memory applied to the extracted signals.
