This paper studies the two-fold impacts of environment regulation related to local officer promotion and water quality assessment of cross-border sections within the framework of the 11th Five-Year Plan. We employ the difference-in-difference (DID) and difference-in-difference-in-difference (DDD) models to a unique dataset on water polluting activities in Songliao Basin counties from 2003 to 2009. Empirical results show that on one hand, regulation and water pollution are negatively correlated, the stricter the regulation is, the less water pollution happens. On the other hand, as no explicit

This paper explores the relationship between sports and their environment by categorizing sports based on the different level of control exerted over the environment. The four categories of sports environments include total control(sports that will not be affected by surrounding environment), partial control(sports that only with strict regulations of fields and courts but will be affected by climates), framed environmental conditions(sports that have specific restrictions of where to compete), and no control of the environment(sports that take place in natural environments where athletes have

Air quality in school environments is of particular interest due to the significant amount of time children spend in these settings. Children, being a particularly sensitive demographic, are exposed to various pollutants at school or kindergarten. In this regard, our studies have focused on monitoring the concentrations of three main categories of pollutants: VOCs (volatile organic compounds), VICs and PM (particulate matter). We conducted two experimental campaigns in seven classrooms within public educational institutions. The average concentration values of TVOC (total volatile organic comp

Global light pollution is darkening the stars in many parts of the world, even endangering humanity and the environment. Therefore, in order to mitigate the effects of light pollution and make the stars shine brightly in the sky, we do further research on the problem of light pollution. First, in order to determine the light pollution level in specific areas, we established the light pollution risk level assessment index system (LPRL). Based on the hierarchical analysis process (AHP) and the entropy weight method (EWM), we selected three first-level indicators. Next, we first estimated the LPR

This paper tried to reveal the pollution level, distribution characteristics, migration patterns, and sources of the pollutants in Jiaozhou Bay in 1979. Results showed that, in 1979, waters in Jiaozhou Bay had little been contaminated by Cd, Cr, Pb, and Hg; while bad been contaminated by HCH and PHC in a certain level. The major pollution sources of Cd, Cr, Pb, Hg, HCH, and PHC could be considered as point source, dry and wet deposition, wastewater and sewage, rock weathe

Pollution of the natural environment of the city with heavy metals (HM) from various sources receives much attention. They accumulate, exceeding the background level, cause pollution of the surface of the soil cover, vegetation, natural waters. It should be noted that their accumulation turns soils into a source of secondary pollution of natural environments and poses a threat to human health. In this regard, the monitoring studies, in addition to the traditional control of the HM content in soils, should assess the trend of changes in the level of pollution and their consequences.
