The scientific novelty lies in the fact that on the basis of documents introduced for the first time into scientific use, parish life in the territory classified as the Russian Arctic North is considered. The study shows that the parish, especially with the construction of the church in honor of St. Stephen of Perm, gradually became the spiritual and educational center of the village, which positively influenced the sustainable development of the territory.

Abstract:
The life of prayer within Catholic families is of paramount importance in strengthening spirituality and familial bonds while nurturing faith values. Document Familiaris Consortio No. 59-62 serves as a primary guideline in understanding Catholic family prayer practices. This research explores the implementation of prayer life in St. Agata Sitaretareon Station, Parish of St. Michael Pangururan, utilizing qualitative research methods. The findings indicate that basic prayer practices, devotions, and daily prayers serve as crucial foundations in the spiritual life of Catholic families. Parents play a central role as the primary instigators of prayer, despite facing challenges such as children's indifference. Families actively engage in both liturgical and personal prayers, demonstrating their commitment to deepening their faith and relationship with God. These prayer practices bring about peace, harmony, and gratitude in the daily lives of Catholic families in St. Agata Sitaretareon Station, serving as tangible evidence of lived faith enriching spirituality and strengthening the faith community in the pursuit of spiritual well-being. Thus, the prayer life within Catholic families in St. Agata Sitaretareon Station, Parish of St. Michael Pangururan, has been effectively carried out, with each family member participating in communal prayer in their daily lives.

Abstract:
The article attempts to reconstruct the parish life of St. Nicholas Church in Riga in the 15th — early 16th centuries, drawing on the mail archives between the bishops of Polotsk and the municipal authorities of Riga, as well as on making a comparison with a similar merchant church of the “Peter’s Court” of Hanseatic merchants in Novgorod. The history of the Riga Orthodox parish was determined by two key factors: the dual jurisdiction of the church (Riga Municipal Council / Polotsk Archbishopric) and the issue of distribution of church revenues among the priest, Russian merchants, and Riga ratmans. The parish of St. Nicholas was a “plum job” with the prospect of non-fixed profits for the rectors of the church. Due to the high mobility of the parish church clergy, the local community was relatively independent and accustomed to self-governance. Some indirect data indicate the neglect of fasting in the congregation of St. Nicholas Church. The peculiar feature of the liturgy in the church of St. Nicholas was commemoration of “three masters” together — the Grand Duke of Lithuania, the municipal authorities of Riga and the Archbishop of Polotsk. Further publication of archival sources of the 15th‑16th centuries concerning the relationship between Polotsk and Riga will provide material for further research of the parish life of St. Nicholas Church.

Abstract:
Abstract Roman Catholic parishes in the United States are steadily becoming more diverse. This article examines St. Mary of the Angels, a small, urban, economically marginal, highly diverse Roman Catholic parish in Boston, as a case study in the question of how researchers might approach the tension between cultural dynamism and structural stability at the heart of multiethnic parish life. Attending to the ways in which parishioners articulated their decisions to belong to St. Mary’s, I demonstrate how their renegotiation of the relationship between parish, place, and belonging reflects broader dynamics underway in U.S. Catholicism. I propose the metaphor of the ecclesial borderland as lens through which to interpret parishes where multiple cultural subcommunities coexist and converge.

Abstract:

Previous work conducted by Kushiyama (2010) identified a relative gravity profile with an abnormal anomaly across a normal fault. The relative gravity should have decreased when crossing from the upthrown side to the downthrown side. Additional relative gravity data were collected and incorporated with the existing data to create an improved gravity anomaly map. The map shows that the gravity generally increases from the southwest to the northeast in the study area. In two areas where profiles cross the fault at nearly a perpendicular angle, the fault is clearly visible and interpretable from the gravity data. However, along Chris Road, that is not the case. This is most likely caused by an underlying salt ridge (Varvaro, 1958). The mobilization of this salt upwards through more dense strata might be the cause of the low gravity effect of the upthrown side of the fault along Chris Road.

Abstract:
This thesis studies the London parish church of St Dunstan in the East on the eve of the Reformation, from c.1450 to c.1537, starting with the recreation of the medieval church fabric, continuing with an analysis of the different branches of the parish management system, examining three kinds of parish endeavours and, finally, looking at aspects of devotion and commemoration in a London parish setting. Based upon documentary, cartographic and visual evidence, the medieval church building and the surrounding churchyards are discussed as well as the spaces within the church and the types of activities that occurred within them. In addition, a brief look at the history of the parish and church is examined. The parish church was a large corporate body dependent upon various staff members to carry out their specific duties. The roles and contributions of the rectors, curates, churchwardens, vestry members, other clergy, the parish clerks, sextons and the anchorite are studied to consider how they worked together towards carrying out administrative tasks, providing for the spiritual care and liturgy for parishioners as well as for other people who worshipped at the church. Some of the distinctive provisions at the church are examined to include, firstly, a sophisticated musical programme and its influences; secondly, a school with evidence for education and for those who taught the children; and thirdly, the church's holy day celebrations and devotions that includes the feasts of SS Dunstan and Ursula, and Easter week. Chantry and anniversary commemorative foundations, and the associated religious services, are studied separately by analysing both perpetual and fixed-term foundations and how they were practised in a London parish setting. This includes an examination of the founders, the foundation process, the roles played by the church managers, family members and livery companies.

Abstract:
Thesis (MA)--Stellenbosch Univeristy, 2013.
ENGLISH ABSTRACT: This study is an historical analysis of the History of St. Margaret’s Anglican Parish, situated in the Northern Suburbs of Cape Town. While documenting the history of the parish since its establishment in 1942, it also critically examines its response to the socio-political changes the country was going through such as the Group Areas Act and in so doing, determines the extent of its own transformation. St. Margaret’s was not the first Anglican parish in Parow. An Anglican presence existed in Parow since 1900 with St. John the Baptist being the first parish along with an Anglican primary school, namely Glen Lily. The Anglican parishes of Parow were profoundly affected by apartheid, especially the Group Areas Act which completely changed the landscape of the town and the roles of the parishes. It led to the deconsecration of St. John’s and the closure of Glen Lily Primary school. The church building survived, but the school was completely demolished. St. Margaret’s did became an independent parish, but faced many challenges as it struggled to cope with the call from the Anglican Church to become agents of reconciliation while Archbishop Tutu called for sanctions against South Africa and seemingly supported the armed struggle. Despite the unhappiness with the Archbishop’s call for greater commitment to the abolition of apartheid, the congregation did in time find its own metier.

Abstract:
This study describes the fairground theaters of the most successful and popular acrobatic troupes, such as that of Maurice Vonderbeck, known as Maurice, and his wife Jeanne Godefroy. It is based on a series of archives, some of which have never been published before: they provide a better understanding of the installation, dimensions, decor and furniture of these venues, from the 1680s onwards. They hosted acrobats and comic operas, which were part of the intense theatrical life in Paris, and were very popular with the public.

Evans, Dorinda. "5. A Challenge to International Neoclassicism." In William Rimmer. Open Book Publishers, 2022. http://dx.doi.org/10.11647/obp.0304.05.

Abstract:
Rimmer's major sculptural works, such as St. Stephen, Falling Gladiator, Dying Centaur, and Osirus (destroyed), were created for exhibition and in response to the international neoclassical movement. In different ways, they are actually critiques of the rage for neoclassicism. Much of what Rimmer was trying to do is conveyed in his teaching, and he used his exhibited art as an extension of this. He wanted an art based not on copying from antique casts or from life but, rather, on the artist's own imagination so that the work is self-expressive. The fact that the man in Falling Gladiator assumes an impossible position is an instance of his insistence on the imaginative. The St. Stephen and a cast of the Falling Gladiator were exhibited in Paris at the Salon des Refusés, where the Gladiator created a stir as it seemed, wrongly, to be a cast of a live person. Rimmer broke new ground in producing fragmented human figures with an antique reference, such as his Osiris, a classical-Greek-looking nude male without parts of his arms. They resembled the broken ancient sculpture of the present rather than of the revered past. Originally Osiris had the head of a hawk. As with his pictures, Rimmer also was unusual in frankly accepting and portraying abnormalities as in his Seated Man (Despair). The late Fighting Lions, showing a male and female in vicious combat is arguably an allegory of male dominance. As an original thinker, Rimmer, more than once, explored the problem of expressing the spiritual in the material, most effectively in his relatively abstract Torso, which is an attempt to show the divine awakening or creation of a human soul. Following the Bible, the plaster cast retains the effect of a man’s torso having been crudely fashioned from clay. Perhaps just as unexpected was his plan for a colossal sculpture, Tri Mountain (never executed), which amalgamated the effect of three men and three hills as a symbol of the city of Boston. His one major public statue is the over-life-size Alexander Hamilton on Commonwealth Mall in Boston.

Abstract:
Today, social networks play a huge role in the life of a modern person Moreover, people can not only communicate in this way, but also share tips, professional skills, promote their services, buy goods, and so on. Every day, a huge amount of information appears in social networks. People ask questions about their future trips, share their travel experiences, talk about local attractions, post photos, praise or scold restaurants, museums and any other objects of the urban environment. In this paper, we consider a method for assessing the availability of urban improvement facilities for low-mobility groups of the population based on data from their social networks The study was conducted on the example of the Petrogradsky district of St. Petersburg. 25 objects of urban improvement (parks, gardens, squares) were selected, and reviews from Google Maps were uploaded for each object. A dictionary describing the accessibility of objects was prepared and a database search was conducted to find problems related to accessibility for low-mobility groups of the population that users write about. All reviews were depersonalized and depersonalized. Such data can be used by the city authorities when planning new facilities, or when implementing targeted programs for the development of improvement facilities.

Loso, Michael, and Michael Loso. Glacier monitoring in the Central Alaska Network: Protocol narrative, version 1.0. National Park Service, 2025. https://doi.org/10.36967/2308209.

Abstract:
Two of the three national parks that comprise the National Park Service Inventory & Monitoring Program?s Central Alaska Network (CAKN) are covered by large quantities of glacier ice. Wrangell-St. Elias National Park and Preserve has 3,121 glaciers and Denali National Park and Preserve has 881. These glaciers cover significant portions of the parks and exert substantial influence over the surrounding landscapes with impacts on weather, vegetation, animal migration, river flow, aquatic life, and even downstream marine ecosystems. They also provide a significant attraction?and hazard?for visitors. These glaciers are changing rapidly, primarily due to the influence of warming air temperatures. The impacts of glaciers on park resources and park visitors are not only important, but quickly evolving, with important consequences for park management. For all these reasons, the Central Alaska Network has identified glaciers as one of the vital signs that should undergo long-term monitoring. This document describes the protocol for conducting that monitoring program. Glacier monitoring in the CAKN parks began in 1991 with measurements of mass balance (snow accumulation and melt) and surface elevation at one site on Denali?s Kahiltna Glacier. The monitoring has evolved since that time to include mass balance measurements on a second large glacier (Kennicott Glacier) in Wrangell-St. Elias. Those two glaciers are highly visited, compared to most other glaciers in the parks, and are relatively accessible for monitoring purposes. The objectives of these measurements are to document seasonal and interannual changes in the primary climatic forces that control glacier change: snow accumulation and melt. Combined with periodic remeasurements of the glacier boundaries and surface elevations, the protocol records mass balances of these two glaciers with both glaciological and geodetic methods, allowing analysis of total mass balance with accompanying understanding of the climatic forces behind it. The glacier monitoring protocol also calls for the use of increasingly available remote sensing techniques to document changes in glacier areas, surface elevations, and surface velocities for a broad collection of park glaciers. Outside the scope of the CAKN protocol, boundaries of all park glaciers have been digitized twice over the last decade, and this protocol calls for continuation of that decadal inventory using whatever remote sensing data and techniques are most applicable at each decadal time step. A subset of the largest park glaciers is also slated for measurement of surface elevations every 4-6 years, continuing the measurements made by Operation IceBridge since the mid-1990s.
