Corn production in the United States has become increasingly efficient over the years. The use of nitrogen fertilizers has played a substantial role in this efficiency. Nitrogen drives biomass production which leads to increased yields. Unlike other nutrients, nitrogen is more mobile making it easier to lose through leaching and volatilization. The first part of this analysis uses an econometric model to examine the relationship between nitrogen usage and weather data. This relationship leads to farm management decisions to reduce nitrogen fertilization expenses. In addition to the use of nitr

It is pointed out that experience is an important factor in excellent managerial ability, provided the lessons it gives are fully understood and comprehended. Achieving profitable crop production milestones hinges on the establishment of a robust soil fertility program. Such programs demand foresight and meticulous planning. To ensure the profitability and efficiency of wheat cultivation, it is imperative to provide the right amount of essential plant nutrients precisely when and where the crop requires them. The application rates of fertilizers hold little significance if these vital nutrients are not distributed at the appropriate locations and times. Wheat, in particular, exhibits a heightened sensitivity to fertilization, responding favorably to

In terms of production of oil crops, Ukraine occupies a leading position in the world, which is based on the cultivation of sunflower and production of sunflower oil. Excessively increased areas under sunflower lead to loss of soil fertility and drying of the soil, etc. Despite the economic interest of commodity producers and the profitability of sunflower cultivation, in our opinion, it is advisable to allocate part of the areas of oil wedge crops to less common, but important and economically attractive crops, such as rapeseed, linseed and others. This study explores the integration of chicken manure management into a circular economy framework, highlighting its potential as a renewable resource for organic fertilizer and bioenergy production. The rapid development of poultry farming in the Baltic region has exacerbated the problem of sustainable manure disposal, which has created a need for innovative, cost-effective and environmentally friendly solutions. Through life cycle assessment (LCA), techno-economic analysis, and a review of existing manure treatment technologies, the research evaluates the environmental impact, nutrient recov

To increase our food security in Västerbotten we will need to become more self-sufficient of both energy, feed and nutrients that are now imported to the region. Biogas production from different waste streams is one solution to this. Biogas is produced using biowaste or sewage sludge as substrate in the major cities Umeå and Skellefteå. Biogas systems offer a range of benefits to society. Biogas production is currently prized for its climate benefits when replacing fossil fuels for the production of heat, electricity and vehicle gas, but at Bothnia Nutrient Recycling we have studied how to use

Abstract: Phosphorus is one of the least available macronutrient in the soil. The high affinity phosphate transporters are known to be associated with phosphate acquisition under natural conditions. Due to unique interactions of phosphate with soil particles, up to 80% of the applied phosphates may be fixed forcing the farmers to apply 4 to 5 times the fertilizers necessary for crop production. Efficient uptake and utilization of this essential nutrient is essential for sustainability and profitability of agriculture. Many predictions point to utilization/exhaustion of high quality phosphate r
