Abstract:
The article presents the correlation between marital communication and the coping styles of parents of a child with ASD during the SARS CoV-2 pandemic. The study involved 46 married mothers and 34 married fathers raising children with autism spectrum disorders. The following tools were used: The Marital Communication Questionnaire (KKM) by M. Plopa and M. Kazmierczak and the Polish version of the CISS Coping Questionnaire by Endler and Park. The results of the research showed that respondents more often prefer constructive coping with stress using the task focused style (SSZ) if a spouse assesses both themselves and their spouse as more supportive and engaged in communication and less depreciation. The respondents more often prefer non-constructive coping with stress using and the emotion-focused style (SSE) or the avoidance-focused style (SSU), if the spouse assesses both themselves and their spouse as depressed. The greater the difference between their own assessment and the assessment of their spouse in supportive communication, the more often the respondents prefer the style focused on emotions (SSE) and the style focused on avoidance (SSU). Moreover, the greater the difference between self-assessment and that of the spouse in depreciation communication, the less often the task-focused style (SSZ) was preferred. The results are statistically significant.

Abstract:
Our study aims to assess the long-time effects of group therapy intervention on marriage communication between fluent and non-fluent aphasic patients and their spouses. From the initial cohort of 150 couples four experimental groups have been selected, each comprising 20 subjects: (1) patients with fluent aphasia (FAP) (2) patients with fluent aphasia spouses (FAPS) (3) patients with non-fluent aphasia (NFAP) (4) patients with non-fluent aphasia spouses (NFAPS). All aphasic patients had mild or moderate fluent or nonfluent aphasia, as confirmed by the Cracow Neuropsychological Battery for Aphasia Examination – CNBA (Pąchalska, 1999). To assess the 3 aspects of interactions between spouses: support, engagement and depreciation we use the Communication in Marriage Questionnaire – KKM scores (Kaźmierczak, Plopa, 2008). These patients attended the groups sessions administered according to Pąchalska’s Model of Aphasia Group Therapy (1991a; 1991b) . It was found that after the long-time group intervention the experimental and the control groups of aphasic patients as well as their spouses differ one from another. NFAP as well as FAP therapy patients had higher KKM scores in the support received from their spouses and their spouses engagement in communication and lower scores in depreciation in their spouses’ behavior than did the controls. Also NFAPS evaluated support and engagement expressed by their aphasic partner higher than the control group. However FAPS and the control group KKM scores were quite similar, except for the support expressed by their aphasic partner. Long-time group therapy for patients with aphasia with the presence of caregivers not only improves the communication with significant others but also it is associated with better marital interactions and communication after therapy as reflected in the KKM scores than in the case of the controls, and improves the patient’s and caregivers’ perception of quality of life.

Abstract:
While the internet offers tremendous innovative communication diffusion opportunities, it also offers some of the innovative ways of purchasing and retailing products and services. There are mounting empirical and conceptual evidences on the benefits and potentials of the diffusion of online shopping in Nigeria. However, limited attention is devoted to investigating the links and influences of customers’ sociographic characteristics on their perception of sales service quality in the increasingly diffusing innovative internet shopping in the country. Addressing this gap in the literature, this study examined the effect of gender, age, educational background, marital status, income and occupation on perceived sales service quality of innovative internet shopping among 400 customers who had shopped online at least once in the previous three months. Using a purposive sampling, a questionnaire designed from a scale developed by Jun, Yang and Kim (2004) was employed and analysed the data using factor analysis. The hypotheses were tested using Kruskal-Wallis (H-test) and Mann-Whitney U tests to determine the degree of the differences of the effect among the demographics and the findings revealed that age and educational qualification and gender and marital status variously differed significantly across most of the constructs except for monthly income. Results of the study highlight the importance of sociographic characteristics in influencing customers’ perception of innovative internet shopping.

Abstract:
This study investigated the influence of spousal communication on marital conflict resolution as expressed by married adults in the Ilorin metropolis. The research design adopted for the study was a descriptive design. A stratified sampling technique was employed to select 210 respondents. The main instrument used for the study was a researcher-designed questionnaire entitled “Influence of Spousal Communication on Marital Conflict Resolution Questionnaire (ISCMCRQ)”. The instrument was validated by experts in counseling and also yielded a reliability co-efficient of 0.88 after a test re-test reliability method. One research question was raised and three hypotheses were postulated and tested. An analysis of Variance and t-test were employed to test the null hypotheses at 0.05 alpha level. Findings revealed that communication in marriage has a positive influence on marital conflict resolution. Findings also revealed that communication helps to resolve marital conflict if there is effective communication among couples and enhanced respect for each other. Ineffective communication between spouses leads to perceptive error. There were no significant differences in the influence of spousal communication style on marital conflict resolution as expressed by married adults in the Ilorin metropolis based on gender, age and educational qualification. It was therefore recommended that married adults should be encouraged to pay attention to the non-verbal communication aspects of their relationships.

Abstract:
The factor structure of the Marital Satisfaction Questionnaire for Older Persons (Haynes et al., 1992) for a sample of elderly French persons was examined. For the sample as a whole, as well as for women and men separately, the fit between the French data and the structure postulated by Haynes et al. was satisfactory. The meaning of the Communication / Companionship factor was the same in France as in the U.S. It proved to be a broad factor that expresses satisfaction in a wide variety of marital areas. The meaning of the Sex / A ffection factor was slightly different in the French and U.S. samples. The proper name for this factor in the French sample would be Sex. Finally, the same pattern of correlation coefficients found in the U.S. sample between the two factors and a number of additional items was found for the French. In particular, Communication / Companionship scores were strongly linked to overall marital satisfaction, and Sex / A ffection scores were only moderately correlated with overall marital satisfaction.

Abstract:
Raising a child with special needs poses a challenge for their parents not only as caregivers but also as spouses. The aim of the present study was to analyze the relationships between communication behaviors, both own and partners’, and the level of marital burnout in mothers with a child with an autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Moderating role of selected sociodemographic factors, such as duration of marriage, number of children, age of a child with disorder, professional activity of mothers, and perceived parents' contribution to caring for a child with an autism spectrum disorder was also tested. The Marital Communication Questionnaire, the Marital Burnout scale and a sociodemographic survey were used in the study. The sample was composed of 100 women, married mothers of a child with ASD. The results showed an inverse relationship between own and partner’s supportive and engaged communication, and the feeling of marital burnout in women. At the same time, there was a positive relationship between depreciation in own and partner’s communication and female burnout. These relationships were not moderated by any of the sociodemographic variables.

Abstract:
Abstract Interpersonal relationship quality is relevant for older adults′ well-being and mental health. Studies focused on methods to evaluate marital satisfaction in older adults and the relationship of this variable with psychological correlates are scarce. This study examined the psychometric properties of the Spanish version (Castro-Díaz et al., 2012) of the Marital Satisfaction Questionnaire For Older Persons (MSQFOP; Haynes et al., 1992) in a sample of middle-aged and older adults from Spain. Participants were 130 individuals (60.8% women) 40 years or older (M= 60.31, SD=11) involved in a marital/partner relationship. The assessed variables were marital satisfaction (MSQFOP), marital warmth, positive emotions, frequency of arguments, perceived stress associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, and anxiety and depressive symptoms. The results from the exploratory factor analysis yielded a three factor structure (compatibility, communication, and sex) explaining 77.8% of the variance. Even though the factor structure was the same as that of the original version, some items loaded on other factors. The internal consistency (Cronbach’s alpha) was 0.97. The results revealed significant (p < .001) positive associations between marital satisfaction, marital warmth, and positive emotions. In addition, significant negative associations were found between marital satisfaction and frequency of arguments, stress associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, and anxious and depressive symptomatology (p < .05). The findings suggest that Spanish version MSQFOP has good psychometric properties that recommend its use with middle-aged and older adults. Marital satisfaction seems to be a relevant construct for understanding stress, well-being, and mental health in middle-aged and older adults.

The article concerns marriage communication among husbands and wives coming from nuclear and one-parent families. The issue of marriage communication is a crucial factor determining its quality and stability. What is more, communicating spouses are the source of role models for their children. Research carried out among the group of 296 people (148 couples) by using Communication in Marriage Questionnaire (KKM) crated by Mieczyslaw Plopy and Maria Kaźmierczak indicates irregularities in the sphere of communication between spouses coming from one-parent families. Dysfunctional communication among couples mainly concerns the lower level of engagement in dialogue with a spouse and the high level of depreciation.

The value system of every human being, i.e. what is valuable and most important to them, is closely related to the quality of their functioning. This paper presents an analysis of selected family determinants of shaping the value system in young adults. For this purpose, a study was conducted among 252 men and 252 women and it was determined to what extent the quality of the marital communication of parents (measured by the Marriage Communication Questionnaire by Maria Kaźmierczak and Mieczysław Plopa), assessed retrospectively by them, is related to the choice of their preferred values described by Max. Scheler. The research only to some extent confirmed this relationship. They show that the higher the respondents rated the quality of their parents' marital communication, the more often they chose the most important moral values, and depending on their gender, also the values of truth, aesthetic, secular and religious ones.

AbstractThis study was undertaken to establish empirically whether couples in which the husband has sustained a severe traumatic brain injury (TBI) differed significantly, with respect to perceptions of husbands' interpersonal communication skills, from control couples in which the husband had sustained a traumatic orthopaedic injury (ORTHO) without injury to the brain. Fifty married couples (25 TBI dyads and 25 ORTHO dyads) were interviewed and completed a questionnaire for the study. Analysis of variance and planned comparisons were used to examine between- and within-group differences. TBI dyads were significantly different to control dyads with respect to perceptions of husbands' communication abilities. Both husbands and wives in long-term TBI dyads reported husbands to experience continuing interpersonal communication difficulties. As a group, TBI husbands self-reported significantly more communication difficulties than did ORTHO husbands. TBI wives and ORTHO wives also produced significantly different perceptions of their husbands' communication abilities. TBI wives perceived their husbands to have a number of interpersonal communication difficulties, while control group wives reported their husbands to be competent communicators.

Abstract:
The present study aims to test some of the assumptions of Bowen’s Family Systems Theory, specifically, to assess the relationships between differentiation of self (DoS), marital satisfaction and parenting styles, as well as the gender differences in these variables in a Spanish sample. The sample includes 140 Spanish non-single adults, over 30 years old, who have at least one adolescent son or daughter, aged between 12 and 19 years old. The instruments used were a sociodemographic questionnaire, the Differentiation of Self Scale, the Warmth Scale-Parents, the Rules and Demands Scale-Parents and the Satisfaction subscale of the Dyadic Adjustment Scale. The results show DoS is related to marital satisfaction, and parenting styles’ dimensions. Regarding gender, women show higher emotional reactivity and warmth-communication than men do. Furthermore, marital satisfaction mediates the relationship between DoS and parental warmth-communication, criticism-rejection and inductive form. Finally, implications for clinical practice and future research are discussed.

Abstract:
This article examines the social representations of fidelity among couples with different marital experience. There are different research dedicated to social representations of couples with different marital experience about trust, infidelity, love, mutual understanding; however, the analysis of psychological-pedagogical literature demonstrates that there were no research dedicated to fidelity in the relationships between spouses. Therefore, the selected topic is unique. The subject of this article is the social representations of fidelity among couples with different marital experience. The hypothesis lies in the fact that there are substantial differences in social representations of fidelity among couples with different marital experience. Young couples believe that fidelity is the indicator of passion, comfort, ease in communication between the spouses, as well as confidence in making the right choice. Mature couples believe that fidelity is the indicator of mutual understanding and trust, as well as lack of passion. The survey involved 21 married couples with 20 to 30 years of marital experience, and 21 couples with less than a year to 3 years of marital experience. It is worth noting that all the respondents were married officially. For verification of the advanced hypothesis, the article employs the following methods: marriage satisfaction questionnaire (V. V. Stolin, T. L. Romanova, G. P. Butenko), “Communication within Family” (Y. E. Aleshina, L. Y. Gozman, E. M. Dubovskaya), Semantic Differential, “Attidude assessment in married couple” (Y. E. Abstract:
Several kinds of marital conflict might be solved through constructive communication, development of interaction skills, and behavioral and thought modification. The aim of this study was to show results of the application of a protocol based on cognitive behavioral couple therapy (CBCT) on dyadic adjustment, marital social skills, depression, and anxiety symptoms. The sample consisted of 32 participants (16 couples) divided in two groups by length of marriage: Group 1 (1–7 years) and Group 2 (8–12 years). All subjects recruited were older than 18 and reported having communication problems in their relationship. The ages were M = 30.4, SD = 4.13. The measures were Dyadic Adjustment Scale (DAS), Beck Depression Inventory–II (BDI-II), Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI), Marital Social Skills Inventory (Inventário de Habilidades Sociais Conjugais [IHSC]), and the Sociodemographic Questionnaire. Participants were assessed pre- and postintervention and had a 6-month follow-up. The intervention consisted of twelve 50-min sessions per couple. Based on three time analyses, both groups obtained the following results: DAS ( p = .001), BDI-II ( p = .000), BAI ( p = .000), and IHSC ( p = .001). We conclude that the CBCT protocol developed for this study, resulted in statistically significant improvements in the couple’s relationship for all variables studied in both groups.

Abstract:
Aims: This study aimed to find association of marital rape with gynecological problems and socio-demographic factors, which helped to explore possible underlying issues and to provide appropriate services to the women. Methods: A cross sectional quantitative study was carried out. Three hundred sixty two married women who came to the health care centres of Public Health Concern Trust (phect-NEPAL) for any kind of health services were enrolled for the study. Data was collected through semi structured interview questionnaire. Bivariate analysis and multiple binary logistic regression analysis were applied to identify the factors associated gynecological problems and marital rape. Results: The study revealed that out of 362 women, 194 (53.6%) experienced marital rape either everyday or sometime. Out of 362 women, 48.6% (194) were suffered from gynecological problems. Women who had undergone rape had 2.32 times more likely to experience gynecological problems than those who did not (OR 2.3, 95% CI 1.52-3.55). Marital rape was found statistical significantly associated (p-value < 0.05) with economic condition, interspousal communication, and difference among interspousal sexual desire, husband’s violent nature, husband's dominant attitude, husband’s alcohol intake and gynecological problem. Conclusions: Marital rape was associated with existence of gynecological problem in the wife. Therefore, women with gynecological problems should also be explored for marital rape and counseling and service should be provided. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.3126/njog.v9i2.11767

Abstract:
Mobile phone communication has established itself as an essential element of people's personal and working lives medium of connection in daily interactions and relationships. It has thus become significant for the most intimate form of interpersonal relations, including marital relationships. This small-scale research seeks to find the importance of mobile phone communication in marriage and its influence on family happiness. The study unearths the patterns of mobile phone communication among married partners, by outlining the most common reasons for communicating with the spouse on a mobile phone. In this research, a survey was conducted using a questionnaire to collect data from 30 respondents who were married partners, staff, or students in one of the state-owned universities in South Kalimantan. Each of the respondents possessed a mobile phone. The Mann-Whitney test indicates that the males profoundly believed that mobile phone communication was more important to their marriage than females to strengthen their relationship. Also, the males reported a higher frequency of sending messages and calling their spouses. By and large, the study results describe the most common reasons for communicating with the spouse. The outstanding reason is maintaining a strong intimate relationship by keeping in touch, sharing updates, emotions, feelings, knowing about children, and ensuring the safety of each other through checking on one another using a mobile phone. The findings have significance in showing the need for continued communication in a marital relationship, especially by using the fastest and most comfortable means of mobile phone. Given the synchronous nature of mobile phone communication, the results indicate that married spouses cannot do without it, especially in this Information Society, where we need updates from our spouses, children, friends, and the situation at large.

Abstract:
(1) Background: Workplace violence among healthcare providers (HCPs) is a tangible barrier to patient care. The purpose of this study was to gain insight into physicians’ and nurses’ perceptions of workplace violence and their perceptions of communication skills during the COVID-19 health emergency. We also sought to assess and compare the association between types of workplace violence, communication skills, and several sociodemographic factors of physicians and nurses including gender, marital status, site of work, age, and educational level during this era. (2) Methods: We performed a cross-sectional study of a selected hospital in Jordan using the Arabic version of the workplace violence and communication skills scales for September to November 2020. We included a total of 102 physicians and 190 nurses via a self-reported questionnaire. (3) Results: During the COVID-19 health emergency, physicians (48%) experienced workplace violence more than nurses (31.6%). More than two-thirds of the participants did not formally report any type of violence. Multinomial logistic regression analysis showed that marital status, gender, age, site of work, educational levels, and communication skills were associated with different types of violence among the two samples. (4) Conclusions: A high prevalence of workplace violence is noted among HCPs in Jordan compared with before the pandemic, which highlights the importance of promoting public awareness during crises.

Abstract:
The nature of police work includes toxic work environments and uncertain danger which imparts a unique type of occupational stress spillover or the transfer of stress from work life to home life for law enforcement officers. Work stress places officers at risk for negative health and psychosocial outcomes. While it has been shown that occupational stress can compromise the well-being of police officers, little is known about how spillover can effect other areas of life for officers such as marital relationships. This study investigates the association between work demands, emotional stress spillover, and marital functioning in a law enforcement sample. Data from 1,180 married law enforcement respondents to the Police Officer Questionnaire which included 148 items assessing work stress, health, family, and support were examined. Responses were analyzed using regression analyses. Results showed that career demands and emotional spillover were statistically significant predictors of the variance in marital functioning. Social and emotional spillover of work-related stress carries negative consequences for communication and emotion regulation within law enforcement marriages.

The study investigated the causes and effects of marital conflict, as perceived by teachers, on the educational and social development of pupils in primary schools. A sample size of 400 respondents (255 males and 145 females) were drawn from the entire population in the seven local government areas of the district. The survey research design was adopted for the study. The instrument used for data collection was the questionnaire based on Teachers Perception on Marital conflict (TPMCO). The data collected were subjected to mean evaluation, while the chi-square (X2) was used to test hypothesis. The findings revealed that 55.0 % of teachers agreed that infidelity was the major cause of marital conflict with the highest mean value of 4.27, followed by poor communication between couple having 30.5 % of respondents, with a mean value of 3.92. The deprivation of instructional materials, followed by poor academic performance respectively, with the mean values of 4.82 and 3.94, were perceived by teachers, in order of ranking, as the most serious issues affecting the educational and social development of primary school pupils as a result of marital conflict. Love followed by encouragement were perceived by teachers to be the major ways in improving the educational and social development of pupils from conflict ridden homes. On hypothesis testing, marital conflict significantly (P≤0.05) affected the educational and social development of pupils, thus null hypothesis was rejected, while the alternate hypothesis was accepted.

Abstract:
The aim of this study was to explore the relationship between birth order and marital communication patterns in conflict resolution among women in Nakuru West Constituency, Nakuru County, Kenya. The research adopted an eclectic theoretical approach using attachment and standpoint theories to address the aspects of the study. The research utilized the survey research design. The study targeted a population of 152,257 women from which a sample of 384 respondents was drawn by stratified random sampling technique. A structured questionnaire was used to collect primary data, while secondary data was obtained from on-line County records. The researcher applied descriptive (finding and tabulating the mean, standard deviation, internal reliability scores and cross-tabulation) and inferential statistic on the quantitative data collected. To test the set parameters the researcher calculated some series of equations like Chi Square and Karl Pearson Correlation to test the assumed prediction of birth order. Statistical Package for Social Sciences - SPSS version 22.0 was used to analyze collected data. The study yielded 85.4 per cent response rate. All posited hypothesis were tested at 0.05 level of significance. The study indicated that there was a strong positive relationship between Birth-order and marital communication patterns in conflict resolution among women that is significant at 5 per cent levels of significance. Therefore, the researcher accepted the alternative hypothesis stating that Birth-order has a statistical significant relationship to marital communication patterns in conflict resolution among women in Nakuru West Constituency, Nakuru County, Kenya. The researcher recommends that adequate parenting should be given when raising children so as to raise responsible individuals who can be responsible and considerable partners in the future. Parents should be fair when distributing responsibilities and offering opportunities to their children irrespective of their birth order.

AbstractThe goal of the article is to describe the theoretical and empirical research of characteristics of families under non-normative crises, having as an example the families of combatants participated in the anti-terrorist operation in Ukraine. The following family crises are discussed: normative crises, as period of transition from one stage of the family life cycle to another and non-normative crises caused by traumatic life events.Research methodology. In order to differentiate more clearly the families of war veterans (those who returned from the anti-terrorist operation zone were examined) and their reactions to the crisis, a sample consisted of chosen nuclear families and the attention was focused on the marital subsystem as a family basis. At the end, survey and psychological testing of war veterans’ wives were conducted; the following diagnostic techniques were used: the author’s questionnaire, FACES-3 method (D.Olson), the questionnaire of family anxiety (E.Eydemiller); the methods of mathematical statistics were used to estimate the data.Research results. The data of the empirical study of the 36 families of war veterans who participated in the military operations in the ATO zone (Ukraine) show that such non-normative family crisis is characterized by family system imbalance and its correction requires adaptation of the family as a whole system to the new reality. Most war veterans’ families undergo series of transformations associated with changes in family structure, communication, significant emotional stress.Discussion. Psychological assistance to war veterans’ families should include psychological learning, prevention and resolving of marital relationship problems, including construction of a new family image, joint life prospects, discussion and transformation of family rules and regulations, development of family cohesion and communication.

Abstract:
The purpose of this study was to develop the Financial Transparency Scale (FTS) to assess financial transparency, the open and honest disclosure of one's finances, between married partners. A sample of 183 individuals married for less than 5 years, in their first marriage, completed an online survey. Principal components analysis (PCA) was conducted and determined the FTS is comprised of three components: Financial Partnership, Financial Secrecy, and Financial Trust and Disclosure. The FTS was positively correlated with four related scales: the Kansas Marital Satisfaction Scale, the Shared Goals and Values Scale, the Frequency of Financial Management Scale, and the Communication Patterns Questionnaire – Short Form. An alpha of .94 was reported for the FTS. Financial practitioners can use the FTS as a tool to determine the level of financial transparency within a couple relationship, identify areas of concern, and illustrate the importance of open and honest communication about finances.

Abstract:
This study explored the psychosocial impact of traumatic brain injury on the perceived quality of life of a purposefully selected group of 14 spouses/partners of head injured persons by means of a self-administered questionnaire. Analysis of responses revealed that spouses/partners' altered communication patterns were perceived to have affected interpersonal relationships and quality of life extensively, indicating the need for speech-language therapy. Decreased income was noted due to the low incidence of return to work. Participants reported changes in family relationships, particularly between the injured person and their children as well as deterioration in marital relationships; suggesting the necessity for family therapy and marital counselling. Various emotional reactions were documented in response to injury. Yet most respondents expressed acceptance of their new roles and responsibilities despite the difficulties entailed. Since injured persons were dependent on their spouses/partners to a large' extent, most of the latter reported feeling tied down. Loneliness predominated as a social consequence despite the support of pre-injury friendships. In terms of coping resources, friends, family, religion and support groups were perceived to be most effective. Results are discussed in terms of their clinical implications for psychosocial rehabilitation and spouse/partner counselling.

Abstract:
Abstract The aim of my study was to determine what relations exist between work and family demands, W-F/F-W conflict and job satisfaction, satisfaction with marriage, and life satisfaction among multiworkers and monoworkers. Research involved 218 multiworkers and 218 employees with single employment, who filled out a survey, the Organizational Climate Questionnaire, the W-F/F-W Conflict Technique, the Job Description Questionnaire, the Marital Communication Questionnaire, and Satisfaction with Life Scale. From the data obtained referring to multiworkers, it is shown that W-F conflict is directly affected by the number of working hours, commuting time, job demands, rewards, and leave control. F-W conflict is directly affected by number of children aged up to six years, partner engagement, and the number of children aged 12‒15 years. Satisfaction with life results from satisfaction with marriage and job satisfaction (stronger relationship). Considering the monoworkers, W-F conflict is directly affected by the number of working hours, commuting time, and the rewards at work. F-W conflict is directly affected by engagement of the partner and the depreciation in the relationship. Satisfaction with life results from satisfaction with marriage (stronger relation) and job satisfaction. These results contribute to deeper knowledge on the multiwork phenomenon.

Abstract:
We analyzed (1) the correspondence of patient and clinician perceived patient involvement in decision making and ratings made by independent observer's independent ratings, as well as (2), factors associated with patient-perceived involvement, among patients seeking hand specialty care. During 63 visits, the patient, their hand specialist, and 2 independent observers each rated patient involvement in decision making using the 9-item shared decision-making questionnaire for patients and clinicians, and the 5-item observing patient involvement scale (OPTION-5). We also measured health literacy (Newest Vital Sign), patient and visit characteristics (gender, age, race, years of education, occupation, marital status, and family present). There was no correlation ( ρ = 0.17; P = .17) between patient (median 42, IQR 36-44.5) and clinician (38, IQR 35-43) ratings of patient involvement in decision making. Independently rated patient involvement correlated moderately with specialist ( ρ = 0.35, P <.01), but not patient ( ρ = 0.22, P = .08) ratings. The finding that patient perception of their involvement in decision making has little or no relationship to independently rated clinician communication effectiveness and effort, suggests that other aspects of the encounter—such as empathy and trust—may merit investigation as mediators of the patient agency.

Abstract:
The high demands placed from a society on individuals may impact the perceived work-life balance of individuals in cohabiting and married relationships. Work-life imbalances may lead to poor communication, which can impact the feelings of wanting to dissolve the relationship due to dissolutionment. Also, when partners are dissatisfied with the listening behavior in their relationship, this may lead to relationship dissolution. To examine the relationships between work-life balance, listening satisfaction, and relationship dissolution among cohabiting and marital couples, this study analyzed data from the National Center for Family and Marriage Research at the Bowling Green State University (2010). Instruments included the Marital Disillusionment Questionnaire and the Work-Family Conflict Scale. The study included 2,150 individuals, including 1,075 couples with 50% of females and 50% of males, and the average age of participants was 44. Correlation analyses results demonstrated differences among marital and cohabiting couples based on their listening satisfaction and relationship dissolution. Work-life balance was positively related to listening satisfaction, but inversely related to relationship dissolution. Independent t-test results also showed that cohabiting individuals reported higher listening satisfaction than did married individuals. However, married individuals reported being more dissolutioned with their relationship than did cohabiting individuals. Regression results indicated that work-life balance was positively related to listening satisfaction, and inversely related to relationship dissolution. Listening satisfaction partially mediated the inverse relationship between work-life balance and relationship dissolution. The type of relationship moderated the relationship between work-life balance and listening satisfaction, and the inverse relationship between work-life balance and relationship dissolution. Finally, duration of the relationship moderated the positive relationship between work-life balance and listening satisfaction. Findings offer insights on the relationships between work-life balance, listening satisfaction, and relationship dissolution in romantic relationships.

Abstract:
Parents' involvement has a huge influence on children’s educational engagement during the elementary years, the study sought to examine the perceptions of Albanian parents of their involvement in their children's schooling at the Qemal Stafa School in Albania. The parental involvement construct examined in the study was conceptualized based on Epstein’s (1995) six categories of parental involvement comprising parenting, communicating, volunteering, learning at home, decision-making, and collaborating with the community. The data collected through the questionnaire were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation and ANOVA. The results showed a high level of parental involvement in the Albanian children’s learning development. The parents surveyed reported volunteering in many workshops that the school conducted. In addition, the results indicated that some parents maintained a good communication with teachers. The ANOVA results showed statistically significant differences in parental involvement by age, marital status, education level, Income Level. Variables such as communicating, and volunteering were identified as the most important components of parental involvement.
