Abstract:
Private educational institutions have various methods of recruiting students according to school needs. In general, these schools prefer to implement PPDB (New Student Admissions) with the "pick up ball" method, rather than taking PPDB Online. PPDB "pick the ball" is a method of recruiting students that is followed by all school units including, educators and students. They go directly to the field to find and pick up students. So, not only students who come to the school to register, but the school will pick up prospective students. This research is a qualitative study using the Alfred Schutz phenomenology approach. Max Weber's theory of social action as the analysis knife of this research. The focus of this research study is the SMK Siang 1 Bojonegoro school unit. The selection of informants was done purposively. Data obtained through observation, indepth interview, and documentation. The results of the study, SMK Siang 1 Bojonegoro has several reasons for "picking up the ball", including: maintaining school prestige, eliminating negative stereotypes, competition between schools, increasing economic capital, bureaucratic efficiency, and the existence of a communal culture in the Bojonegoro community. There are two strategies used to make "pick the ball" successful. Hegemony strategy, actors act on the basis of franchise principles, seen from the side of efficiency and effectiveness alone. Meanwhile, the actor's Social Capital strategy acts based on moral and religious values.

Abstract:
Fresh market southern highbush blueberries are typically hand-harvested which requires an extensive labor force over a relative short period of time. With rising production costs and labor availability issues, interest in mechanical harvesting options is increasing. In 2017, an over-the-row (OTR) harvester was modified to reduce purchase cost while making hand labor more efficient. The picking heads were removed and dual worker stations were added on each side of the unit. Handheld olive shakers were suspended at each station. Experimental catch plates were installed on one side of the OTR harvester and soft, inclined surfaces over the rigid conveyors on both sides. ‘Meadowlark’ and ‘Farthing’ blueberries were harvested with this system and compared to those manually harvested by a commercial harvest crew. Samples from each harvest method were then commercially cooled and mechanically harvested fruit were commercially packed to determine packout data. Fruit firmness, bruise severity and composition were determined after one day at room temperature (22 °C) and after seven and fourteen days of storage at 1 °C. Average packout was very high for mechanically harvested fruit, 87% for ‘Meadowlark’ and 91% for ‘Farthing’. Initial firmness of both cultivars was lower for mechanically harvested fruit (208 g/mm) than hand-harvested fruit (243 g/mm). Fruit from the three treatments softened during storage, and although ‘Meadowlark’ remained firmer than ‘Farthing’ during storage, there were no differences due to catch surfaces. Hand-harvested fruit had no severe bruising (>20% of cut surface area) at harvest, increasing to 2% after seven days, while mechanically harvested fruit from both fruit collection surfaces had 3% initial severe bruising that increased to 22% during storage. ‘Farthing’ had slightly higher soluble solids content and significantly higher total titratable acidity compared to ‘Meadowlark’. Additional modifications must be made to the next-generation OTR harvester to further reduce blueberry harvest and handling impacts.

Abstract:
HighlightsA spring buffering system was added to a longitudinal vibration picking mechanism for berry shrub fruits.Vibration models of the picking part and side branch were established to obtain the vibration relationship.Blueberry picking experiments were conducted to verify the performance of the picking mechanism.Abstract. Current berry shrub picking mechanisms are generally rigid structures, which can easily cause the mechanism to jam and produce rigid impacts, damaging the berry shrub branches. In view of this situation, a longitudinal vibratory picking mechanism for berry shrub fruits is proposed in this study with a spring system added to provide a buffering effect. Vibration models were established for the picking part and for the berry shrub side branch, and analysis was performed to obtain the vibration relationships. Using blueberry as an example, suitable parameters were determined through calculation and then used in blueberry picking experiments with a prototype of the picking mechanism. The experiments verified that the vibration frequency calculated with the vibration relationships can meet the requirements for picking, and the performance of the longitudinal vibratory picking mechanism for berry shrub fruits was verified. HighlightsWe designed a low-cost instrumented picking bag that can monitor the worker’s fruit picking process. The bag can be used to estimate the worker’s picking rate for better workforce management. The bag can also be used to estimate the accumulated fruit weight and generate a yield map for orchard management. The best root mean squared error over the entire measurement range was 0.36 kg (1.8% of bag capacity).Abstract. Estimating and recording a worker’s picking rate during tree fruit harvesting can provide useful information for better workforce management, orchard platform crew management, and generation of yield maps (in combination with position). A commercial picking bag was instrumented to estimate harvested fruit weight in real-time. All electronics were placed inside an enclosure that was placed between the bag and its shoulder straps, without hindering picking motions. The electronics included two load cells to measure the forces exerted on the straps by the bag and fruits, an Arduino microcontroller, signal conditioning circuits, data storage, wireless communication components, and inertial sensors. Software was developed for data acquisition, filtering, transmission, and storage. Two calibration models were developed to estimate fruit weight. One model (model 2) used inertial sensor data to compensate for the picking bag’s angle with respect to gravity direction, while the other model (model 1) did not. Dynamic calibration experiments were performed over the entire weight range of the bag (0 to 20 kg) with reference objects of known weight (baseballs and fresh apples). The weight was divided into three ranges: light load (<8 kg), medium load (8 to 13 kg), and heavy load (>13 kg). Results showed that model 1 performed slightly better in the light load range, but model 2 was superior in the medium and heavy load ranges, presumably due to bag angle compensation. The best root mean squared error over the entire range was achieved by model 2 and was 0.36 kg (1.8% of bag capacity). In an application case study, two bags were used by workers harvesting from a platform in a commercial apple orchard. From the data, the pickers’ harvesting speeds were estimated, and the fruit yield distribution was calculated for one side of a tree row. Abstract:
In order to find the optimal combination of the picking unit parameters of the brush-rolling cotton harvester, the parameters optimization experiment were carried out. Taking the rotary speed of brush roller, the working velocity, and the number of brush plates as the experimental factors, the collect rate and the loss rate of struck cotton as the performance evaluation indexes, the quadratic regression orthogonal rotational combing design experiment was carried out. The Central Composite Design response surface method was used to establish the regression model of experimental factors and evaluation indexes, and analyze the influence of each factor on evaluation indexes. Using multi-objective optimization, the optimal parameter combination is as follows: the rotary speed of the brush roller is 350 r/min, the working velocity is 0.5 m/s, the number of brush plates is 6 rows. After the optimization test, the collect rate is 95.58%, and the loss rate of struck cotton is 1.22%. The field verification test shows that the collect rate of 4MSG-3 brush-rolling cotton harvester is 92.86%, and the loss rate of struck cotton is 1.26%. The relative error between verification test results and parameter optimization value is less than 5%, which verifies the reliability of the regression model. This study provides a theoretical basis for optimizing and improving the picking unit’s parameters of the brush-rolling cotton harvester.

Abstract:
This paper presents a case study of didactic infrastructures to direct Study and Research Paths (SRP) in teacher education within the context of interdisciplinary inquiry. The disciplines of school mathematics and school biology, and their didactics, are made to interconnect through the investigation of a generating question concerning the illness diabetes. The resulting interdisciplinary knowledge as evidenced through students written diaries is analysed using the Anthropologic Theory of the Didactic and shows the challenge of combining two disciplines and their didactics at the same time. Two particular forms of didactic infrastructure to guide the self-sustained process of SRP are proposed and scrutinized: Selective picking and Side questions. Selective picking is shown to be a promising, yet indirect, infrastructure to steer the SRP without taking away the desired autonomy of the students. Side questions, initially proposed by Ives Chevallard, are considered in light of the case, and a number of suggestions for their characteristics and use are put forward.

Abstract:
At present, the pump setting depth of machine wells in Tahe Oilfield is universally too deep as the reservoir is buried deep, viscosity of heavy oil is high, and the producing energy weakened. This will increase the input of sucker rod, oil tube material and lead to enlarge suspension point load of pumping unit mule head and energy consumption. According to the problems, on the basis of the regularity of distribution of wellbore pressure field, viscosity field, temperature field, this paper puts forward a new matching lifting technology: moving down the point of blending and picking up the pump setting depth. Moving down the point of blending can reduce the producing energy loss and enforce the crude oil’s fluidity in the wellbore ,and picking up the pump depth can reduce the cost and energy consumption, Field test shows that after the new type matching lifting technology implement, test wells are normal in operation. The pump setting depth is partly picked up and pumping unit load decreases. The single well saves thin oil by more than 10%.

Abstract:
Fruits and berries are valuable foods that provide the necessary for human consumption: sugars, proteins, fats, mineral salts, organic acids, pectin, tannins and other substances, vitamins. Also raw materials for the food industry, which are used to make juices, jams, marmalades, jams. Due to the crisis, which covered all areas of human activity in Ukraine, the average annual consumption of fruits and berries per unit of population is less than 50% of the biologically justified norm; the area of orchards is 2.7% of the total area of agricultural land (0.8 million hectares), of which 60% is apple orchards. Improving the situation is possible through the intensification of horticulture - obtaining maximum annual yields through the introduction of the latest advances in science and technology, including in the field of mechanization of fruit production. The most time-consuming operation in the technological process of fruit production is harvesting, which, in particular for apples, accounts for 15-40% of the total cost of garden care. It can be emphasized that the cost of growing apples is 92 times higher than for a similar area of cereals. The solution to this problem is possible through the introduction of fruit harvesters, the use of which allows to increase productivity by 3.7-12.6 times, to release an average of 50 people. per day from the use of one machine and reduce operating costs by 30-50% compared to manual assembly. The most widespread at present for fruit harvesting, as evidenced by the trends of the world agricultural machinery industry, are stem vibrating machines of positional action with inertial linear working bodies. At the same time, the use of serial fruiting means, due to the impersonal process of removal, causes damage to trees and fruits, which are suitable mainly for technical processing or urgent sale in fresh form; the productivity of serial fruit harvesters is relatively low.

Abstract:
Hops for beer production are a crop of growing interest in Italy, requiring specialized harvesting equipment and infrastructure. Several studies have been conducted on hop cultivation and harvesting around the world, but information on Italian hop production is still very scarce. As it turns out, only a few Italian farms are self-sufficient, employing a mechanical harvesting system, while most of them resort to hand-picking. In this study, hand and mechanical hop-picking were investigated, highlighting the longest time necessary for the manual cut (65 ± 5 min for approximately 2 kg of fresh cones). Furthermore, different mechanical solutions for hop harvesting were evaluated; in particular, one hop-picking machine was tested at different settings (full speed and 75% of chain feed). At full speed, it was possible to collect an average of around 96 kg h−1 of fresh cones, while approximately 13% of cones were left unpicked. A speed reduction of approximately 25% made it possible to reduce the cone loss to 8%, with a cone collection of around 86 kg h−1. Lost and picked cones, however, were strongly related to the number of side-arms growing from the main bines. This experience made it possible to test an old solution for this emerging crop at moderate cost and with good sustainability for the Italian territory.

Abstract:
We describe a method to generate layouts for unit-load warehouses that use multiple slot heights as a way to maximize warehouse space utilization. The problem has two parts: slots must be arranged into rack-bays, and rack-bays must be arranged into a layout. We describe two methods for the first subproblem, depending on whether the warehouse has directed picking and put-away. For the second, we describe a simulation model and a greedy procedure based on the duration-of-stay storage policy. We observe significant benefits of using multiple slot heights in unit-load warehouses with respect to footprint, expected travel time, and cost of racking. For a typical warehouse, we expect space savings between 25% and 35%, depending on the number of slot types, and savings of between 15% and 25% in annual operating costs.

Abstract:
Introduction: One of the significant characteristics of schools in Vietnam is that almost all parents send their children to school and/or pick up their children from school using private vehicles (motorcycles). The parents usually stop and park their vehicle on streets outside the school gates, which can lead to serious congestion and increases the likelihood of traffic accidents. Methods: The objective of this study is to find out factors affecting the picking up of pupils at primary school by evaluating the typical primary schools in Hanoi city. A binary logistic regression model was used to determine factors that influence the decision of picking up pupils and the waiting duration of parents. The behavior of motorcyclists during the process of picking up pupils at the primary school gate has been identified and analyzed in detail by the Kinovea software. Results and Discussion: The study showed that, on the way back home, almost all parents use motorbikes (89.15%) to pick up their children. During their waiting time (8.48 minutes in average), they made a lot of illegal parking actions on the street there by, causing a lot of “cognitive” errors and “crash” points surrounding in front of the primary school entrance gate. Risky picking-up behaviors were significantly observed, i.e. picking-up on opposite side of the school, making a U-turn, backing-up dangerously, parking on the middle of street, and parking on the street next to sidewalk). Conclusion: Based on the analyzed results, several traffic management measures have been suggested to enhance traffic safety and reduce traffic congestion in front of school gates. In addition, the results of the study will provide a useful reference for policymakers and authorities.

Abstract:
Fifteen years of Michigan harvest data for highbush blueberry (Vacciniun corymbosum L.) were used in conjunction with daily maximum and minimum temperatures to determine appropriate heat-unit models for first-picking dates of 13 cultivars. For each cultivar, an optimal heat-unit model was chosen after evaluating the performance of a standard method with 72 combinations of three variables: a) starting date for the heat-unit accumulations (SDATE), b) low-temperature threshold (TLOW), and c) high-temperature threshold (THIGH). The optimal model sought to include the most important criteria values with respect to model performance and to minimize the average square of the prediction error (days) and the range in that error. Compared with a strict calendar-day method of estimating harvest dates, the heat-unit models reduced the standard deviation of the prediction error from 22% to 69%, depending on cultivar.

Abstract:
Segmentation is one of the most important stages in the 3D reconstruction of macromolecule structures in cryo-electron microscopy. Due to the variability of macromolecules and the low signal-to-noise ratio of the structures present, there is no generally satisfactory solution to this process. This work proposes a new unsupervised particle picking and segmentation algorithm based on the composition of two well-known image filters: Anisotropic (Perona–Malik) diffusion and non-negative matrix factorization. This study focused on keyhole limpet hemocyanin (KLH) macromolecules which offer both a top view and a side view. Our proposal was able to detect both types of views and separate them automatically. In our experiments, we used 30 images from the KLH dataset of 680 positive classified regions. The true positive rate was 95.1% for top views and 77.8% for side views. The false negative rate was 14.3%. Although the false positive rate was high at 21.8%, it can be lowered with a supervised classification technique.

Abstract:
Background:Drugs are very important for human life because they can provide treatment, cure, prevention, or diagnosis of different diseases. However, they also cause side effects, which can increase the risks for humans and pharmaceuticals companies. It is essential to identify drug side effects in drug discovery. To date, lots of computational methods have been proposed to predict the side effects of drugs and most of them used the fact that similar drugs always have similar side effects. However, previous studies did not analyze which substructures are highly related to which kind of side effect.Method:In this study, we conducted a computational investigation. In this regard, we extracted a drug set for each side effect, which consisted of drugs having the side effect. Also, for each substructure, a set was constructed by picking up drugs owing such substructure. The relationship between one side effect and one substructure was evaluated based on linkages between drugs in their corresponding drug sets, resulting in an Es value. Then, the statistical significance of Es value was measured by a permutation test. Results and Conclusion:A number of highly related pairs of side effects and substructures were obtained and some were extensively analyzed to confirm the reliability of the results reported in this study.

Abstract:
Abstract Seismograms are convolution results between seismic sources and the media that seismic waves propagate through, and, therefore, the primary observations for studying seismic source parameters and the Earth interior. The routine earthquake location and travel-time tomography rely on accurate seismic phase picks (e.g., P and S arrivals). As data increase, reliable automated seismic phase-picking methods are needed to analyze data and provide timely earthquake information. However, most traditional autopickers suffer from low signal-to-noise ratio and usually require additional efforts to tune hyperparameters for each case. In this study, we proposed a deep-learning approach that adapted soft attention gates (AGs) and recurrent-residual convolution units (RRCUs) into the backbone U-Net for seismic phase picking. The attention mechanism was implemented to suppress responses from waveforms irrelevant to seismic phases, and the cooperating RRCUs further enhanced temporal connections of seismograms at multiple scales. We used numerous earthquake recordings in Taiwan with diverse focal mechanisms, wide depth, and magnitude distributions, to train and test our model. Setting the picking errors within 0.1 s and predicted probability over 0.5, the AG with recurrent-residual convolution unit (ARRU) phase picker achieved the F1 score of 98.62% for P arrivals and 95.16% for S arrivals, and picking rates were 96.72% for P waves and 90.07% for S waves. The ARRU phase picker also shown a great generalization capability, when handling unseen data. When applied the model trained with Taiwan data to the southern California data, the ARRU phase picker shown no cognitive downgrade. Comparing with manual picks, the arrival times determined by the ARRU phase picker shown a higher consistency, which had been evaluated by a set of repeating earthquakes. The arrival picks with less human error could benefit studies, such as earthquake location and seismic tomography.

Abstract:
In seismic data processing, static corrections for near-surface velocities are derived from first-break picking. The quality of the static corrections is paramount to developing an accurate shallow velocity model, a model that in turn greatly impacts the subsequent seismic processing steps. Because even small errors in first-break picking can greatly impact the seismic velocity model building, it is necessary to pick high-quality traveltimes. Whereas various artificial intelligence-based methods have been proposed to automate the process for data with medium to high signal-to-noise ratio (S/N), these methods are not applicable to low-S/N data, which still require intensive labor from skilled operators. We successfully replace 160 hours of skilled human work with 10 hours of processing by a single NVIDIA Quadro P6000 graphical processing unit by reducing the number of human picks from the usual 5%–10% to 0.19% of available gathers. High-quality inferred picks are generated by convolutional neural network-based machine learning trained from the human picks.

In order to test passive direct methanol fuel cell and simultaneously observe anode and cathode of a fuel cell, we designed and built a test system. The test system consists of four units: temperature control unit, lighting unit, camera unit and test and data acquisition unit. With a two-floor placement design, we separated tested object and its close auxiliary components from other devices. The design is critical for changing inclination angle between outward normal of anode and gravity direction, which is important to the experiment. The control interface of the test system makes it suitable for a microgravity test system in NMLC (National Microgravity Laboratory Center). Considering the test system will be used for microgravity experiment besides routine normal gravity experiments, many specific issues have been taken into account.

Abstract:
Abstract OBJECTIVE AND IMPORTANCE: Trichotillomania (TTM) is an impulse control disorder characterized by the recurrent pulling of one's hair resulting in noticeable hair loss. There has been no definite association drawn between Parkinson's disease (PD) and TTM, although there is a suggestion that obsessive-compulsive symptomatology may be more prevalent in left-side predominant PD. We believe that it is important to be aware of psychiatric comorbidities in the surgical treatment of PD, as they may significantly impact the postoperative course. CLINICAL PRESENTATION: We describe the case of a 58-year-old woman with an eleven-year history of left-side predominant PD who also suffered from TTM. She underwent subthalamic nucleus deep brain stimulation (STN-DBS) and subsequently developed significant wound complications of her left-sided deep brain stimulation leads. It was noted during the postoperative period that the patient was picking her left-sided, but not right-sided, incision—a behavior that was felt to be a part of this patient's impulse control disorder. INTERVENTION: Multiple wound revisions and eventual replacement of her left-sided deep brain stimulation lead was performed as a result of hardware malfunction secondary to wound manipulation by the patient. CONCLUSION: Before surgery, this patient's TTM was right-sided, but after subthalamic nucleus deep brain stimulation, her wound picking was only left-sided. This case suggests that subthalamic nucleus deep brain stimulation may have a role in unleashing the symptomatology of TTM through an as yet poorly understood mechanism. Furthermore, there is also an implication that the pathophysiology of PD and TTM may be intertwined.

Abstract:
Abstract In the unit-load warehouse (UW) design, the aisle design problem dealing with storage space layout is the first among the three main problems. Several conventional and non-conventional designs have been proposed in the literature. In general, the assessment of UW designs is commonly carried out using analytical approaches. However, such an approach may be inadequate due to assumptions or approximations, making results unrealistic. Aiming to bridge this gap, this research develops an assessment framework that employs the FlexSim software for simulating the conventional, Flying-V and Fishbone designs based on a real case from a Philippine manufacturing company. Using a computer simulation, this research investigates factors not yet tractable with present analytical methods. The factors employed for the comparative assessment are “picking run-time”, “travel distance”, and “capacity”. The results suggest that the Fishbone design provides the most advantage compared to the Flying-V and other conventional designs. With the proposed Fishbone design, the company is expected to save, on average, 52.39% of picking run-time, 32.25% travel distance, and increase storage capacity by 7.5%. The research findings are compared to previous studies based on analytical approaches.

Vehicular network security had spanned and covered a wide range of security related issues. However solar energy harvesting Road Side Unit (RSU) security was not defined clearly, it is this aspect that is considered in this paper. In this work, we will suggest an RSU security model to protect it against different internal and external threats. The main goal is to protect RSU specific data (needed for its operation) as well as its functionality and accessibility. The suggested RSU security model must responds to many objectives, it should ensure that the administrative information exchanged is correct and undiscoverable (information authenticity and privacy), the source (e.g., VANET server) is who he claims to be (message integrity and source authentication) and the system is robust and available (using Intrusion Detection System (IDS)). In this paper, we suggest many techniques to strength RSU security and they were prototyped using an experimental model based on Ubicom IP2022 network processor development kit.

Abstract:
The results of our prior research on internationally-domiciled global equity funds suggest that active managers do not provide economic benefits, in addition to their underlying investment style benchmarks. This finding implies that the performances of global equity funds are derived mainly from the broad investment styles followed by the active managers rather than the stock-picking activities of the managers. We replicate our earlier research to investigate the performances of the six well-established global equity funds in the South African unit trust industry. Our results indicate that four out of the six South African fund managers under examination substantially underperform their passively-replicated style benchmarks. Our prior study results indicate that there is no significant difference between the performances of the internationally-domiciled global equity funds and their respective style benchmarks. By contrast, the stock-picking decisions of the South African fund managers are found to destroy value created by their respective style benchmarks in this study. Our findings suggest that investors who wish to follow particular investment styles would be better off by investing in exchange traded funds (ETF) that passively track the performances of their mandated investment styles in the global equity market with minimal costs.

Tablet is defined as solid pharmaceutical dosage form containing drug substance generally with suitable diluents and prepared by either compression which is given as a single unit and are known as solid unit dosage form. Tablets remain popular as a dosage form because of the advantages afforded, both to the manufacturer (e.g. simplicity and economy of the preparation, stability, and convenience in packing, shipping and dispensing) and the patient. The excipients include diluents, Binders and adhesives, disintegrates, etc. Tablets vary in shape and differ greatly in size and weight depending on the amount of the medicinal substance. The ingredients must be granulated prior to compression to assure an even distribution of the active compound in the final tablet. There are two basic techniques which can be used to granulate powders for compressions into a tablet are wet granulation and dry granulation. In this review article tablet manufacturing and evaluation have been discussed. Keywords- Tablet, Granulation, Picking and sticking, Dissolution test, weight variation
