This chapter provides a novel approach for identifying ethical issues on bodyware as new ICT devices are being integrated into human bodies with the help of unconventional interfaces. To establish a primer to the range of potential questions to this phenomenon, the authors provide an ethical analysis taking an agential realist perspective (Barad, 2007) and using anticipatory technology ethics (Brey, 2012). They illustrate their approach with the Student Locator Pilot Project in San Antonio Texas as a case study, where “smart” ID cards with embedded RFID chips have been deployed. To conclude, the authors argue that their approach is well suited to address questions on how augmented bodies and enhanced minds of human beings intra-act with bodyware in everyday social and organizational life.

Issues on usability, security, and mobility have always been the main concerns for e-commerce implementations that aim to gain widespread public acceptance. Smart Card Agent Environment is designed to address these issues by using a combination of software agent and smart card technology. In this chapter, a functional overview of the proposed environment is presented to illustrate how these two technologies can be integrated to offer e-commerce services with high usability, security, and mobility. To further demonstrate the concept, a prototype implementation of the environment has been carried out. In this implementation, an on-card agent residing in the smart card is capable of storing critical data securely, providing digital ID and signature, and carrying out user authentication. On the other hand, off-card agent would provide various high-level agent services that can be used to carry out e-commerce activities. Before the end of the chapter, practical considerations for issues on security, technology acceptance, infrastructure availability, and standardization will be discussed.

A reliable human recognition scheme is required in wide variety of systems to either verify or identify the identity of an individual requesting their services. Using traditional approaches such as possession based and knowledge based systems, it is very difficult to differentiate between an authorized person and an impostor. This is a strong reason for replacing traditional ID-based systems with biometric systems which are based on human traits that cannot be denied, stolen, or faked easily. Biometric recognition refers to the automatic recognition, based on physiological and /or behavioral characteristics of an individual. By using biometrics, it is possible to establish an individual's identity based on “who he or she is” rather than by “what he or she possesses likes smart card” or “what he or she remembers likes password.” Human ear due to its consistent behavior over the age, has gained much popularity in recent years among various physiological biometric traits. The decidability index of the ear has been found that magnitude significant greater than that of face. Ear remarkably consistent and does not change its shape under expressions like face. The shape of the outer ear is recognized as a valuable means for personal identification. Naturally, an ear biometric system consists of ear detection and ear recognition modules. Ear biometric has played an important role for many years in forensic science and its use by law enforcement agencies.

This article describes how electronic payments are financial transactions made over the internet for goods or services. In the digital era, the e-commerce industry has gone beyond the traditional in-store service due to the wide spread of internet-based shopping. Developed countries are greatly relying on e-commerce business and a sizable number of countries have shown concern in regard to the online payment cards such as credit cards, debit cards, e-cash, e-cheques, e-wallets and smart card security. The main downsides are concerns over privacy or a malicious attack and hence safeguard mechanisms are required to protect personal information from falling into the hands of intruders. Before commercializing electronic payment systems (EPS), security tests play a significant role in the software development life cycle to check whether the system is secure and it is safe to use. A resourceful approach covering security policies, secure coding, security attack prevention methodology, security testing tool, security testing metrics, security test case prioritization techniques and a model for effective project management methodology are presented in this article. Early detection and resolution of security weaknesses can be achieved with the authors' proposed approach and would certainly reduce the time, effort and cost of a project. The proposed approach is likely the best-fit implementation of the payment industry, covering channels like B2C (Business to Consumer), C2C (Consumer to Consumer), C2B (Consumer to Business), B2B (Business to Business), People to People (P2P), G2C (Government to Citizen) and C2G (Citizen to Government).
