This article describes the early medieval ethnopolitical history of Chach, which deals with the participation of nomadic peoples and their influence on the political life of Central Asia. As a result of the collapse of the Kangju state, the first independent state arose in the Chach region, which played an important role in the political, economic and cultural life of the region until the formation of the Kükturk Khaganate. In the administration of the khaganate, it became an important point of the “TurkSogdian symbiosis”.

The Paraguayan liberal republic, spanning from the end of the War of the Triple Alliance until the end of the Chaco War, is one of the most under-researched and probably one of the most undervalued periods of Paraguayan history and has only recently elicited some scholarly interest.1 During this period capital accumulation developed exclusively in the private domain, economic policies were informed by laissez–faire doctrines, and the political arena embodied, if mostly theoretically, the liberal principles of public contestation and elite competition. Those basic and distinctive traits, and in

An improved optimization algorithm, namely, multi-strategy-sparrow search algorithm (MSSSA), is proposed to solve highly non-linear optimization problems. In MSSSA, a circle map is utilized to improve the quality of the population. Moreover, the adaptive survival escape strategy (ASES) is proposed to enhance the survival ability of sparrows. In the producer stage, the craziness factor integrated with ASES is introduced to enhance the search accuracy and survival ability. In the scout stage, the ASES facilitates sparrows successful escape from danger. Besides, opposition-based learning or Gauss

Abstract Paraptosis is a type of programmed cell death characterized by cytoplasmic vacuolation, merging as a potential therapeutic strategy for cancer treatment. Paraptosis has been associated with disruption of proteostasis and redox homeostasis, however, the detailed mechanisms remain to be explored. CPYPP, a known paraptosis inducer, was employed to investigate the underlying mechanisms in breast cancer and melanoma cells. CPYPP significantly increased the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS). Treatment with N-acetyl-L-cysteine (NAC) and glutathione (GSH), but not oxidized glutathio

This article analyses settler encroachment on Indigenous peoples’ lands in the Chaco region of Eastern Bolivia. It is an understudied story, rarely interpreted from a perspective inspired by settler colonial studies. My analysis explores policies promoted by the emerging Bolivian state to address its ‘Toba problem’ along the Pilcomayo River, where for three centuries hunter-gatherers ignored the colonial authority and continually defied the power of the new nation. The story is situated in the mid-to-late nineteenth century when administrators of the Republic distributed small tracts of land a

Current research on ferroelectric polymers centers predominantly on poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF)–based fluoropolymers because of their superior performance. However, they are considered “forever chemicals” with environmental concerns. We describe a family of rationally designed fluorine-free ferroelectric polymers, featuring a polyoxypropylene main chain and disulfonyl alkyl side chains with a C3 spacer: −SO 2 CH 2 CHRCH 2 SO 2 − (R = −H or −CH 3 ). Both experimental and simulation results demonstrate that strong dipole-dipole interactions between neighboring disulfonyl groups induce ferro

This epidemiological scenario favors the spread of transmissible diseases, including several parasitic infections belonging to the neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) group.
