A sample of 101 participants responded to a 51-item questionnaire. The results of the questionnaire showed a strong preference of Modern Standard Arabic (MSA), English, and French by native speakers of Algerian Arabic (Derja). Resumen:El principal objetivo de esta investigación ha sido analizar el desarrollo de las habilidades psicolingüísticas, a través del ITPA, a alumnos desde 2º de Infantil hasta 4º de Primaria. Se ha seleccionado a 386 participantes, 187 de procedencia europea y 146 bereber, de éstos 119 hablan tamazight, pudiendo considerarse como bilingües. Las mayores diferencias en las subpruebas del ITPA se observa en la etapa de Educación Infantil obteniendo mejores resultados el alumnado de procedencia europea, disminuyendo las diferencias en la etapa escolar, lo que indica la importancia de los iguales

Berber (or Tamazight) is an Afro-Asiatic language spoken by an estimated 15–25 million in North Africa. It is mainly spoken in Morocco, Algeria, and by the Touareg population in Niger and Mali. Berber is also a native language of populations living in Libya, Tunisia and Egypt, though their numbers are less significant.
