Full textIn the America of the XXe century, works of Ying Chen, Dany Laferrière and Wajdi Mouawad express voices that are, at the same time, different, various and deviating for the ones of the quebecker’s national literature. Taking their distance toward stereotyped representations of their time, like the exilic literature or the travel literature, migrant authors set stories where brand new images of the northern towns emerge, as well as emblematic places and the meeting of the other occurs. The migrant author reveals, just like his exploded path, a game with the reader by taking over several roles, several auctorial figures. His writing is therefore, a palimpsest: it’s integrating various literary models while it goes beyond. In its intern construction, in its creation process, we may discover how it shielded literary norms. Finally, the migrant writer offers a view of the world that is both reconcile and indulgent by making live together the alives and the deads

Full textThe argentinian Paraná is the fifth river of the world by the size of its watershed, its tenth and its flow. It also is a river of paradoxes: it is an essential axis but has been abandoned; it is immense but unknown outside the countries which it crosses; it represents an environmental wealth which isn’t protected; and finaly is gigantic but very poorely used. With the 3.2 million km ² of its watershed , and an average flow which reaches 18 000 m3/s at its mouth it can be considered as a megariver. The theme of big rivers is nowadays quite fashionable in the scientific literature, but the research is separated between physical and human geography. It then seems necessary to reconcile both approaches around new concepts. In 2008, E. Latrubesse proposed the concept of megariver. This concept finds its equivalent in the reflections found in the human geography. The objective of this thesis is to propose an extension of the concept of megariver to the human geography. Few transversal approaches are led on the Paraná river and links between sectors, services and actors are fragile. The big projects such as the fluvial higway called Hidrovia Paraná-Paraguay or the big hydroelectric dams, allow to link different fields of expertise and to cross the vision of diferent actors. As a fact, the river carries more and more socio-economic issues which can only be approached with an integrated vision, joining social, environmental and economical questions. The issue is aslo situated in the relations between local, national and supranational scales, which leads to territorial reorganizations. These networks of geographical scales allow to build new cooperations inbetween all the actors and lead to an integrated managment of the Parana river

Full textArt and science are parallel ways to know the world, even if each one uses its own means. Having different approaches, these two ways are in search of the invisible, of what is beyond the first perception of reality, in order to discover new real phenomena. The current collaborations between artists and scientists have led me to investigate new approaches to reality, which these collaborative projects can bring to Humanity. Discovering the Art & Science field, I asked myself if the approaches and the methods that have been considered as incompatible for a long time are now converging into a common language being created at the frontier of art and science. Our research is based on several testimonials from artists and from scientists who participated in collaborative projects. Through the various collaborations, we analysed, on one hand, the shared viewpoints of artists and scientists, and, on the other hand, the difficulties they had to overcome to achieve the desired result. Art & Science being a recent field, many questions are raised. This thesis focuses on the essence and the aims of collaborations between artists and scientists in order to understand the specificity of Art & Science projects and to see how these projects may impact society

Full textThis doctoral thesis undertakes a comparative and contrastive study between the narratives of André Thevet in Les Singularités de la France Antarctique and of Jean de Léry in Histoire d'un faict en terre du Bresil. Our aim is to re-discuss their styles, which are generally characterised as a form of "travel literature" (littérature de), in order to highlight their testimonial and oral aspects. These literary works, which were told orally multiple times before being written or transcribed, reveal a gradual evolution from oral texts registered in writing to modern written texts, which means : originally composed in writing. This approach places the art of writing back in its historical context and thus leads to a new interpretation of these works, which are so typical of the 16th Century
