Water security has emerged as a significant international concern in recent decades. Climate change, rapid urbanisation, and burgeoning global tourism are compounding water provision problems in many countries. Australia and China are two examples. The driest inhabited continent on Earth, Australia has recently experienced its worst drought in recorded history. The nation is also dealing with high urban population growth.
