Full textThe semiotics' dimensions of translation and its problems have become the centre of interest of the researchers and experts since the fifty last years. This thesis tries to benefit from progress report of the schools and tendencies which govern the act of translation. The relationship between the theory and the practice makes it possible to understand the operation of the theory in practice, from which is the following postulate can be obtained: it is impossible to make the practice apart from the theory. It is necessary for that to strip a long essay and to hold some examples which will allow us to have an interesting idea about the transmission of the original meaning of Naguib Mahfouz's novel entitled "Comes the night". Our work is composed of four parts. In the first part which is entitled "Theories of the translation", we will approach three theories which deal with the problems of translation. The second part, "the new fields of the translated communication", approaches the usage of the oral and written translation the same time. In the third part, an analytical study will be dedicated in the passing of the theory to the practice. We will discuss the fourth and last part to the restrictions and limits of the translation

Full textThe aims of this thesis are to describe by applying the method of the interpretative theory of translation the considerations that determine in general the translation of titles as well as to introduce into the system of concepts of this theory some of the notions of discourse analysis estimated pertinent. The firs part is an effort to summarize a variety of linguistic observation on titles in relation to their translation. This is done by accepting the existance of a model active during production and reception of titles. The second views translation as a particular discourse situation describable as an intersubjective configuration called translation discourse contract which predetermines by assigning specific roles to the protagonists of the act of speech what could be called the generally valid conditions of production and reception. The third part of the thesis illustrates by analysis of translated titles the validity of the proposed theoretical observation

Full textThe aim of our research is to get to a theorical approach, trying to be scientific, about the translation of current events texts in the written press. Such an approach is carried out by a complicated analyse process of translation in order to show all the operation and choices which the translator uses consciously and unconsciously, also to show some useful principals for the future translators providing them the materia prima to accomplish their task very well. In this respect, we try to raise some problems and to examine the principal currents of thought in translation which allow to trace the evolution of such a thought. When the rules of thought concerning the translation in the twentieth century will be examined, we try than to propose a model which describes the translator processes when he translates an article written in a language A to another article written in a language B. That could allow us also to indicate some problems that we can find in practice such as the problems of lexicons, of syntactic structure, of cliches and stereotypes

Full textThe present study is focused on the problems of production in foreign language related to the treatment of polysemia and collocations. It aims at taking part in the creation of a translation assistance tool in the Portuguese and French languages. This tool more specifically aims at the correct production in French language of almost 5000 words and expressions of the Portuguese current language as the one used in Brazil and it is based on the works undertaken by Professor Philippe Humblé at the University of Santa Catarina, in Brazil. All these words are presented in various contexts, which are extracted from the Brazilian corpus VARSUL, and the study of their polysemia according to their contextual situation will allow a correct setting in speech of these expressions in French language. Given that we cannot be interested in the problems raised by the practice of the translation today without having a clear idea of the historical evolution of this discipline, of all the efforts which were provided to theorize this activity, we also approached, in our study, the principal historical currents of traductology, from Antiquity to our present days and insisted on the scientific dimension which this discipline took at the 20th century, with the introduction of linguistic prospects and the orientation towards close disciplines. In order to justify the utility of our translation assistance tool, we also carried out a historical approach of automated translation from its initial expectations until its present limits. We showed which were its initial hopes and which are its principal limitations today. We also defined the concepts of “polysemia” and “collocations”, which are barriers to automated translation and which also are problematic for all those who learn and want to produce in a particular foreign language
Zhao, He Ping. "Le principe de la fidélité en traduction (de la validité de la théorie interprétative pour la traduction chinois-français et français-chinois)." Paris 3, 1989. http://www.theses.fr/1990PA030039.
Full textThis thesis, based upon the interpretative theory, deals with the principle of fidelity in translation between chinese and french as well as several other aspects relating to the fidelity, such as clarty, liberty and servility. The operation of translation does not take place at the level of the language, but rather at the level of the speech where the language and the non-linguistic factors (the speaking person, the perceiving person, the place, the timing and the circumstances of the communication) interplay. The meaning of a word or a sentence is not the object of the translation. The translator transmits the sense of a text to another text, a sense which is concrete and individual while the meaning is abstract and collective. Therefore, the principle of fidelity applys to the sense as well as to the tone of the talking person (or writing person), to his language level, to the logic of his speech and to what he wishes to express. The clarity is definied with regard to the reader. In order to be faithful, the translator should be free with regard to the original language while subservient to the target language
Gasmi, Ahmed. "La traduction littéraire. Analyse de modèles de restitution. Théorie et pratique de la production des textes et de leur réception." Paris 3, 1993. http://www.theses.fr/1993PA030103.
Full textThis study starts by defining the state of the art and its basis i. E. The characteristic texutal elements that build the text as a structure. During the translation process, the translated text is already a. Function of its target public. It functions as a motivation to reading. The construction of textual models shows how the properties of each type of text, with differing degrees of representation of the original text. The ideal would be an optimal relation between the source and the target texts. The tanslated text is an oriented structure in that the translator takes into account constraints such as the target literary system and culture. The ideal situation would be a "synonymy in reading" in the source and target literary systems. By analysing the translation process, conclusions are drawn concerning the nature of translated text, the translator's role in the literary system and the function of the alterations to the original text
