In this paper, we develop a conceptually unified approach for characterizing and determining scattering poles and interior eigenvalues for a given scattering problem. Our approach explores a duality stemming from interchanging the roles of incident and scattered fields in our analysis. Both sets are related to the kernel of the relative scattering operator mapping incident fields to scattered fields, corresponding to the exterior scattering problem for the interior eigenvalues and the interior scattering problem for scattering poles. Our discussion includes the scattering problem for a Dirichl

Knot theory is a relatively young branch of mathematics, still less than a century old. The development of the Jones polynomial in 1984 led to increased activity in knot theory. Though work is constantly being done in this field, notably the classification of torus knots, double-torus knots are still lacking such a complete understanding. There exists two notations, those of Rick Norwood and of Peter Hill, that describe knots on the double-torus. The ambition of this thesis is to begin to make the case that it is possible to render these two notations interchangeable. Illustrating this will requ

In addition, more women than men hold superintendent certificates and educational doctorates. Due to this puzzling discrepancy, it is important to understand possible factors in the form of gendered barriers to access that could lead to the unequal representation of women in superintendent positions. The cholinergic neurons of the basal forebrain are vulnerable in Alzheimer's disease (AD). These neurons require trophic support by nerve growth factor (NGF) and, uniquely in the brain, express both NGF receptors: TrkA and p75NTR. Reduced support by NGF has been associated with neuronal loss and formation of amyloid plaques and neurofibrillary tangles. This study aimed to increase understanding of proNGF trophic signalling via TrkA/p75NTR and its impact on cholinergic survival in sporadic AD.

Through empirical analysis, we show that attention significantly impacts inflation dynamics, even when accounting for traditional inflation-related factors. Macroeconomic theory suggests that expectations formation is a natural mechanism to explain these findings.
