Abstract:
In order to improve the water resistance of silicate wood adhesive, a kind of silicate adhesive was prepared from water glass with silica as curing agent, and ammonium stearate as modifier. The chemical structure, surface morphology and thermal properties of the silicate adhesive were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectrometer, scanning electron microscope, and thermo-gravimetric analyzer. As the two main measures of adhesion properties, the bonding strength and water resistance were also determined. The results showed that ammonium stearate was successfully introduced into the m

Thermal stabilizers, lubricant, and plasticizers are three crucial additives for processing poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC). In this study, a new mannitol stearate ester-based aluminum alkoxide (MSE-Al) was designed and synthesized as a novel additive for PVC. The thermal stability and processing performance of PVC stabilized by MSE-Al were evaluated by the Congo red test, conductivity measurement, thermal aging test, ultravioletevisible (UV–Vis) spectroscopy test, and torque rheometer test. Results showed that the addition of MSE-Al could not only markedly improve the long-term thermal stability o

Aluminum ammonium sulfate (AA) solution (0.1 mol/l) and ammonium hydrogen carbonate (AHC) solution (1.2 mol/l) were allowed to react at room temperature. The precipitates formed were kept with the mother liquor in a closed vessel and aged at 100 °C. Acicular-shaped crystalline particles of Al(NH4)CO3(OH)2, (AACH), were obtained after the elongated aging period. Acicular α-alumina particles were obtained through the thermal decomposition at 1300 °C out of the AACH particles which were previously treated with a small amount of tetraethoxysilane (about 1.6 wt. % of SiO2).

Polymerizable bactericides, such as quaternary ammonium compound–based monomers, have been intensively studied as candidates for immobilizing antibacterial components on dental resin. However, they predominantly exhibit a bacteriostatic behavior, rather than bactericidal, as the immobilized components are left with insufficient molecular movement to disrupt the bacterial surface structure through contact-mediated action. In this study, we developed a novel strategy to increase the density of the immobilized bactericide and enhance its antibacterial/antibiofilm properties by combining a surface
