Abstract:
In the present paper, the effective thermal conductivities of Li4SiO4-packed beds with both ordered and random packing structures were investigated using thermal resistance network methods based on both an Ohm’s law model and a Kirchhoff’s law model. The calculation results were also validated and compared with the numerical and experimental results. Firstly, it is proved that the thermal resistance network method based on the Kirchhoff’s law model proposed in the present study is reliable and accurate for prediction of effective thermal conductivities in a Li4SiO4-packed bed, while the result

Coating often plays a role in monitoring and protecting substrates in engineering applications. Interface cracks between the coating and the substrate can lead to crack growth under the action of external loading and will cause device failure. In this paper, the behavior of a fine-grained piezoelectric coating/substrate with a Griffith interface crack under steady-state thermal loading is studied. The temperature field, displacement field, and electric field of the coupling of thermal and electromechanical problems are constructed via integral transformation and the principle of superposition.

Thermal noise in test mass substrates and coatings is a significant noise contribution in the detection band of current and proposed future gravitational wave detectors. Substrate thermal noise can be reduced by using high mechanical Q-factor materials and cooling the test mass mirrors. Silicon is a promising potential candidate for the next generation detector test masses. The low thermal expansion and high thermal conductivity of silicon allow efficient cryogenic operation, and a significant increase in the amount of optical power that can be used in the detectors by decreasing thermal defor

The mechanical damage variable, as well as the thermal and mechanical relaxation times, plays essential roles in the thermal quality factor of the resonators, where controls energy damping through the coupling of mechanical and thermal behavior. In this article, we developed a mathematical model in which a static-pre-stress and mechanical damage variable in the context of a two-temperature viscothermoelasticity of silicon resonator has been considered. This article presents the effects of helmet colors from protective clothing on the thermal protection factor under natural radiation. Thermal exposure distributions were measured using a thermal camera to determine the sun protection effectiveness of helmets under various exposure conditions. Increasing the thermal comfort of the hard hat, which is a work safety protective clothing, has become one of the biggest areas of interest of hard hat designers. Helmets protect human health by providing simple and useful protection against natural radiation rays. To identify the effect of the colors of

The effect of the sky view factor (SVF) on outdoor thermal comfort has been extensively explored, while its impact on the indoor thermal environment is ignored. This research combined Envi-met and kriging models to explore the annual effect of the sky view factor on the indoor thermal environment. Different from previous studies, this study explored the effect of the sky view factor on indoor temperature rather than outdoor temperature, and from the perspective of a full year instead of a typical summer day. The analytical results reveal that an increase in the sky view factor raised the indoo

Three horizontal optimization treatments are designed respectively for the air distribution mode of secondary air (factor A), the reverse tangent angle of the separate over-fire air (factor B), and the upper swing angle of the burner (factor C).
