Abstract:
Infrared thermography is an imaging exam present in the scope of diagnosis, evolutionary monitoring, and prognosis in the health area. Over the years, thermography has been studied in medicine, and it is a technique recently used in Dentistry. In this sense, the objective of this work was to carry out a literature review with a bibliometric approach to the use of thermal images for the diagnosis/monitoring of dental treatments. Studies that relate thermography to dental specialties were analyzed, considering the use of thermography as a diagnostic aid and monitoring of dental treatments in its wide range of activities. Searches were performed in the following databases: PubMed, Web of Science, Embase, Scopus, Scielo, from 1985 to 2020, with a search phrase including thermography and Dentistry specialties. The results show the trends in publications relating thermographic images to dental specialties by year of publication, journals, country, type of study, manufacturer of cameras used, resolution, and ambient temperature, totaling 119 publications in 83 journals. Temporomandibular Dysfunction and Orofacial Pain was the specialty with the highest concentration of publications relating thermography to Dentistry (27 articles). Endodontics was the second specialty (23 articles), Restorative Dentistry was the third specialty (18 articles) followed by Surgery (17 articles). It can be concluded that thermography is indicated as an auxiliary diagnostic method in Dentistry specialties. The main indications for thermography in Dentistry are in the context of diagnosis of Orofacial Pain (dysfunctions temporomandibular disorders of the muscular and articular types, noninflammatory odontalgias and neuropathies), Endodontics (inflammatory odontalgias), Implantology (osseointegration), and follow-up evolution of the postoperative surgeries.

Abstract:
Abstract In recent years, there has been a growing interest in animal welfare. Consumers of animal products are paying more attention to maintaining good husbandry conditions on the farms, but also to some of the procedures entailing pain and suffering. The most invasive procedures are castration and dehorning (disbudding), which are often performed without anaesthesia. Pain associated with tissue damage causes behavioural and physiological changes. Observation of behaviour combined with measurements of autonomic nervous system activation, and hormones of the hypothalamic- pituitary-adrenal axis, is the main method for assessing the emotional state of an animal. Immobilization and blood collection may themselves be a source of stress for these animals. There is a strong prerequisite for the development of non-invasive methods of assessing the level of animal welfare. One of them is infrared thermography. The study of eye temperature changes in cattle, measured with an infrared thermography camera, confirmed the activation of the autonomic nervous system in response to pain.

THERMOGRAPHY OF SOLAR HEATERS COMPOSED BY REUSABLE MATERIALS AND CORRELATION BETWEEN IRRADIANCE AND TEMPERATURE ABSTRACT: After the industrial revolution of 1760, there was a great demand for electric energy to keep the machines in operation and to continue industrial growth. Due to the demand for electric energy, new sources of energy were created aiming to supply the market demand, however many of these sources are considered highly polluting, degrading the environment. Recently, renewable energy sources have been studied for the process of electric power generation, aiming at the preservation of the environment, supplying any demand due to economic growth. Among so many studied, Solar energy is great potential source, being inexhaustible and clean, in which the principle is based on the production of energy by means of thermal. Thus, solar heaters have appeared in substitution of electric showers, great villain of the residential energy consumption, however due to the high cost of acquisition, alternative heaters have been constructed from reusable materials, obtaining the same thermal efficiency of the conventional heater, but with low cost value, being accessible and to low-income people. Keywords: Yield, solar irradiation, economic viability, sustainability.

Abstract:

This paper aimed to evaluate the use of thermography as an aid method for the early diagnosis of breast cancer in female dogs assisted at the Veterinary Hospital of IFPB Campus Sousa. Five female dogs diagnosed clinically with mammary neoplasia were selected for this study. The protocol was listed in the chronological order of medical care: anamnesis, physical examination of the tumours, thermography, surgery and collection of material for histopathological examination. Patients underwent thermographic examination with the Flir® Thermovisor equipment, model T420. The examination took place in an acclimatized room and upon permission of the animal’s tutor. 60% were pure breed female dogs. Tumours were observed in three non-castrated female dogs and two castrated ones. The masses exhibited three macroscopic presentation patterns. The majority of them were nodular, followed by pendular and flat. Masses in animal 1 showed no increase in volume and there was no difference in temperature between the breast affected by neoplasia and healthy one, whereas for animals 2, 3, 4 and 5 there was an increase in temperature of 0.6ºC, 1.0°C, 1.2°C and 2.3°C, respectively. Three different types of carcinoma were found according to histopathological examination: complex carcinoma, tubular and tubulo-papillary carcinoma. In 100% of the animals the lesions were malignant, reporting high frequency of malignant epithelial tumours in the canine species. Based on these results, it was concluded that no direct relationship was found between the thermographic imaging pattern among the types of malignant mammary tumours in female dogs. Therefore, the conception of new studies on the matter is necessary due to the small number of animals on this research, where it was not possible to affirm the capacity of the thermography in the early differentiation of the malignancy of the masses. Future researches in oncology will promote a better understanding of the pathological aspects related to mammary tumours.

Abstract:
ABSTRACT Infrared thermography is a non-invasive diagnostic tool for early detection of subclinical mastitis in pasture-raised dairy cows. The study was conducted on eight dairy farms, in Sena Madureira, Acre, in the Western Amazon, during the rainy season. One hundred and thirteen lactating crossbred cows were monitored, with measurements performed once a day before milking, from 02:00 to 06:00 in the morning. The California Mastitis Test (CMT) was subsequently applied. Data processing was performed in the R programming language and evaluated by linear models. Our results show that cow udder surface temperature by infrared thermography showed significant differences (p<0.05) between the months of the year. Cow udder temperatures of thermographic images were significantly different (p<0.05) from CMT results for animals with subclinical mastitis. CMT results showed that 45 cows (39.8%) in January, 52 cows (46%) in February and 57 cows (50.4%) in March had subclinical mastitis. Infrared thermography is a technique that can be used for the early detection of subclinical mastitis in dairy herds in a grazing system, as it detected an increase in the udder surface temperature of the same cows that were positive for CMT.

Abstract:
In health, the prognosis is linked to an accurate diagnosis. However, in a diagnostic imaging exam, often the subjectivity of signs/symptoms, associated with the overlapping of anatomical structures or the presence of image artifacts, hindering the accuracy of diagnoses and procedures. For centuries, has been known that excess of heat or cold has been associated with dysfunction or disease. An infrared term consists of a functional diagnostic method for imaging that allows inferring an organ/tissue dysfunction using temperature. It is based on recording differences in body temperature and detecting patterns of thermal asymmetry in contralateral regions of the body. In this context, this study aims to perform a narrative review updated about the applicability of infrared thermography in Dentistry. Studies regarding the use of infrared thermography in dentistry from 1956 to 2019 were considered eligible. No current panorama, which principles such as: sustainability, effectiveness, health promotion and disease prevention, perform as world health guidelines, this study corroborates with the conception that an insertion of the thermographic exam in Dentistry that can favor early diagnoses of dysfunctions/pathologies, allowing a better direction for other exams and contributions for the choice of more assertive therapies. Thus, although an infrared term still has an incipient literature and a questionable accurate, the use of this auxiliary method of analysis is very promising in Dentistry and in several other areas of health and knowledge.Thermography. Abstract:
Infrared thermography is a safe and non-invasive method of research used to aid the diagnosis of inflammation, infectious diseases and muscle damage, as well as in reproductive control. The images captured by thermography convert infrared radiation emanating from the body in a temperature gradient, represented by a pattern of visible colors. Aspiration cytology, on the other hand, is an easily applicable research tool that offers excellent preliminary results and directs the clinical case towards a diagnosis. A male jaguar (Panthera onca) presenting a tumor in the abdominal region was examined with the aid of a thermal imager and later a fine needle aspiration cytology was performed. These methods disclosed a mesenchymal malignant neoplasm; later histopathological analysis confirmed the diagnosis of fibrosarcoma. The combination of thermography with fine needle aspiration cytology provided excellent results, showing efficiency, speed and convenience as a diagnostic aid.

The study is based on images captured by infrared camera from patients at the University Hospital of the Federal University of Pernambuco. Initially the images are manually segmented. Then, the sinuses are recorded using the B-spline transformation. Furthermore, as the human body has a radial symmetry of temperatures, damage eventually leads asymmetry of these regions, then the spatiogram is used to identify those asymmetric.regions. Finally, only the regions with higher than average temperatures are maintained, based on the fact that the cancer has a higher temperature than the rest of the breast. After this process features are extracted (Variation of pixels, the mean, standard deviation, index Geary and Higuchi Fractal Dimension) for the classification of regions remaining in injury or no injury using an artificial neural network Multilayer perceptron.
The objective of this study was to determine the physiological parameters of athletic equines used in vaquejada, and to evaluate the use of infrared thermography as a supporting tool to diagnose possible musculoskeletal injuries caused by physical training. Ten athletic Quarter Horses, males and females, aged 5-15 years old, were part of this trial. The animals were divided into two groups, G1 (pulling category) and G2 (mat category). It was assessed: heart rate (HR), respiratory rate (RR), rectal temperature (RT), capillary filling time (CPT), intestinal movements, and mucosal staining. Surface temperature (ST) was assessed through projections of each animal using FLIR® T10611 thermal camera. Variables were measured before training (BT), after training (AT) and two hours after training (2h AT). Environmental variables were measured using Hobo® Data Loggers. The Thermal Comfort Index (TCI) indicated that the animals were in thermal comfort during the evaluated moments. The physical effort was sufficient to cause changes in some of the evaluated parameters: HR, RR, RT and ST. During the assessment of thermographies, an increase in local temperature in the region of semitendinosus muscle was observed in one of the animals evaluated. The use of the thermographic camera may contribute to the prevention and early diagnosis of musculoskeletal injuries in horses used in vaquejada exercise.

ABSTRACT: This paper presents a sensitivity study of a thermography equipment, in which evaluated the following parameters relevant to the achievement of thermographs: (1) influence of reflections (refletante surface and obstacles), (2) influence of temperature gradient, (3) influence of color (ambient temperature and solar radiation) and (4) influence of distance from infrared camera to the object. In this way, a laboratory analysis and interpretation of the evaluation of the relevant parameters in the obtaining of thermograms was carried out in a laboratory environment, and it was possible to evaluate the potentialities of the infrared thermography, obtaining with the different tests the determination of the surface temperature of the materials and Components as well as the importance of knowledge of the sensitivity of the test techniques used in measurements for the evaluation of the physical performance of test specimens can be verified. Through the studied parameters it was possible to conclude that there are many influences, such as reflectivity and atmospheric attenuation, which can produce an incorrect analysis or even incapacitate the visualization of some present pathological problem. It is necessary, in addition to knowledge of the subject, to pay attention to all external factors in order to be detected and eliminated, or even taken into account when performing the technique of infrared thermography so that they are minimized.

Abstract:
Surface thermography and air temperature on the RMC (Curitiba’s Metropolitan Region) Abstract This study shows the analysis of the relation between the surface thermography and the air temperature in Winter 2002 at Curitiba’s Metropolitan Region (Brazil). It was used data from the satellite image (Landsat TM Channel 6) and the meteorological data. Also it was applied the rhythmic analysis of the weather. The image shows the formation of a heated island on the urban surface and the meteorological data show the configuration of a cold island at 1,5 m, simultaneously, above urban agglomeration. The results show the theoretically known differences between the warming process of the natural and antropogenical surfaces (radiation balance).

Abstract:
Abstract Infrared thermography (IRT) has been used to assess skin temperature (Tsk), especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, as an important tool in medical screening not only of the general population, but also of young athletes. However, the subcutaneous adipose tissue can act as an insulator when the Tsk is assessed by IRT, modifying the normal Tsk data and leading to their misinterpretation. Considering that the body mass index (BMI) is an important predictor of obesity, the objective of this study was to verify if the Tsk measured by IRT is affected by the BMI in adolescents. A preliminary study was carried out being four participants intentionally selected, all 16 years old, each one classified in a different BMI range according to the criteria of the World Health Organization for the adolescent population: underweight, healthy weight, overweight and obesity. Four thermograms of each participant were recorded and the ThermoHuman® software was used to evaluate 82 regions of interest (ROI), which were integrated into 6 body regions. Using healthy weight subjects as a reference, it was found a progressive reduction in Tsk in all ROI compared to overweight and obese participants, with emphasis on the anterior region of the trunk (3.04% and 6.69% less respectively), and an increase in the Tsk of all body regions for the underweight subject. There are indications that BMI can influence the Tsk value in adolescents and should be taken into account when analyzing thermograms for a correct evaluation of thermal normality.
