Abstract:
This paper reviews the adaptation accuracy and mechanical properties of currently used denture processing systems with base resin materials and introduces the latest research on the development of antimicrobial denture base resins. Poly(methyl methacrylate) has been successfully used as a dental denture base resin material by the compress-molding method and heat polymerization for a long time, but recently, new processing techniques, injection molding-methods or fluid-resin technique are also used for fabricating denture base. However, studies indicated that there was no difference between the

Thermoplastic nylon has been introduced in dentistry as a material for denture bases since 1950’s. Thermoplastic nylon has become a popular alternative for denture fabrication, which provides better aesthetics and several advantages. Unfortunately, thermoplastic nylon has insufficient shear bond strength with acrylic resin, causing the acrylic denture teeth to often debond from the thermoplastic nylon denture base. Sandblasting is suggested can be used to increase shear bond strength between artificial teeth and denture bases. This study aims-to evaluate the effect of sandblasting surface trea

In this paper, we develop new possible alternatives of highly automated and die-less production processes based on a short review of current approaches on flexible thin-walled FRP production. Traditionally, a denture base is manufactured using a heat-cured acrylic resin. This type of resin was first used in dental labs in 1936, being a great step forward. Because of the many disadvantages as increased porosity, high water sorption, polymerization shrinkage, allergenic potential and citotoxicity due to the residual monomer, awkward flasking and packaging, and difficult processing, alternatives were continuously searched. Monomer-free and high-impact acrylics were developed, and gold plating of the denture base was experienced, in order to provide an alternative to allergic patients.

It is an additive semi-freeform fabrication process that utilizes thermoplastic composite prepreg tape as the base material. To ensure proper consolidation to the substrate, a roller applies the necessary compaction pressure.
