Abstract:
Objective: To describe the characteristics of under-graduate theses, satisfaction and reasons for choosing a topic of study. Materials and Methods: Cross-sectional study that included two populations, theses and thesis students who were able to support their work from 2015 to 2021 in the Faculty of Dentistry of the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos (Lima, Peru). Documentary analysis was used at first to record bibliometric data. The survey was used in a second stage to collect information related to the reasons why the thesis students chose their topic and the degree of satisfaction. Results: A total of 269 theses were examined. The theses corresponded to more women (n=142; 52.8%). All had a quantitative approach. The cross-sectional/descriptive design was the most frequent (n=207; 77%). Of the 114 respondents, the majority of them indicated that their thesis topic decision was influenced by a faculty member outside of their advisor (n= 26; 22.8%). A total of 49.1% of thesis students were in complete agreement about what they had learned about research at the end of their thesis. Conclusions: The undergraduate theses evidenced to be developed mainly by women, most of the thesis students were satisfied with the elaboration and execution of their academic work; it was evidenced that the thesis topics are mainly influenced by a teacher different from the thesis advisor, this indicates that the advisors should be more conscious when guiding the student and influencing the thematic, methodological and writing decisions together with the advised. Abstract:
The subject matter of this article is the phenomenon of thesis academic guidance. It is claimed that academic guidance is one of the key factors of the successful defense of a thesis. Factors and conditions of scientific alliance formation are identified in this article. The material represents that scientific alliance formation depends on the trust between the postgraduate student and his advisor, on the one hand. On the other hand, it depends on the style of their work. Three styles of academic advisors’ work and postgraduate students’ style of work are identified and characterized. The correspondence of the style of work of the advisor and his postgraduate student is reasoned. The model of trust in academic guidance is formulated. The methods of the diagnostic assessment of work style, trust and scientific alliance by itself are shown in the article. It is stated that there may be formed three levels of scientific alliance: superficial, deep and very deep. A very deep level of scientific alliance is proved to continue through several generations. The article represents the authors’ experience in working with various advisors.

Abstract:
Describe the high impact scientific production of thesis advisors belonging to accounting faculties in Peru at the undergraduate level for the period 2023. A descriptive and cross-sectional study was carried out. The study was carried out on the basis of 1,784 undergraduate theses reviewed from the accounting faculties of the nine Peruvian universities ranked in the Scimago Journal Rank 2023 page. The scientific production of the advisors was searched in the Scopus database, as well as their qualification as Renacyt (National Scientific, Technological and Technological Innovation Regulation applicable to researchers in Peru). Only 25 thesis advisors (3.4%) have high impact scientific production. And 52 thesis advisors (7.1%) present Renacyt qualification. From the combination of the results we have that the accounting faculties in Peru at the undergraduate level, only 2.9% of their thesis advisors have made high impact scientific production and in turn have been qualified as Renacyt teachers. There is evidence of the lack of concern of the accounting faculties of the main universities in Peru with respect to the key people in the training process of the accounting professional. This is the position of the thesis advisor who lacks high impact scientific production and his lack of qualification as a Renacyt Professor.

Abstract:
Effective authorial voice in academic writing helps researchers establish the value of their scholarly contributions. However, constructing an authorial voice is challenging for many novice L2 writers. Through tracking multiple drafts of master’s theses written by two Chinese EFL (English as a foreign language) graduate students, this case study investigated changes in their authorial voices and the roles of advisor feedback in this process. We drew on three types of data: analysis of multiple thesis drafts for linguistic and content features of voice; advisor feedback on multiple drafts; and a questionnaire for the student writers’ understanding of authorial voice. The results indicate that the linguistic features of voice in their theses have remained largely unchanged, portraying them as unconfident student writers, but the content features have shown significant improvement, conveying authorial voices of novice researchers in the later drafts. Most of the student revisions followed their advisors’ feedback. The student participants’ questionnaire responses indicate their relative lack of awareness of the importance of language in voice construction. The results suggest that the authorial voice construction of the novice student writers is dynamic, developmental, and interactive with their advisors’ feedback over the thesis writing process. Pedagogically, other than feedback on content features of voice, classroom practitioners could also consider providing explicit instruction of and feedback on linguistic features to help students construct authoritative authorial voice in the academic context.

Abstract:
Purpose: To investigate the factors contributing to stress, anxiety, and depression among Vietnamese students before and during their thesis process. Methodology: A Cross-sectional online survey was conducted with questionnaire comprised three parts: (1) demographics, (2) thesis status, expectation, and potential factors influencing stress, anxiety, and depression, and (3) The Depression, Anxiety, and Stress Scale (DASS-21) assessment. The collected data was analyzed using Mann-Whitney U test, Fisher’s Exact test, and Path analysis to explore relationships among the surveyed variables to stress/anxiety/depression condition. Results: Among participants, 180 were pre-thesis students, 83 were peri-thesis students, and 212 had completed the thesis. Six factors were identified as significantly influencing stress, anxiety, and depression among pre-thesis students. They included “Pressure from discrimination”, “Pressure from unexpected incidents”, “Good pedagogical skills of thesis advisor”, “Stopping grade-improvement courses when doing thesis”, “Dealing with illnesses that are being treated”, and “Student’s expectations for their future thesis”. Perceived discrimination would directly increase stress score (β=0.16, p-value<0.001), and was directly influenced by factors such as (1) “Pressure from unexpected incidents”, (2) “Good pedagogical skills of thesis advisor”, and (3) “Stopping grade-improvement courses when doing thesis”. Anxiety scores were increased by “Current illnesses” and “Stopping grade-improvement courses when doing thesis” (β= 0.13, p-value=0.002 and β=0.15, p-value<0.001, respectively). Only “Student’s expectations for their future thesis” increased the severity of depression. For the peri-thesis group, strong “Academic supports from thesis-conducting institute” and a “Good attitude of thesis advisor” enhanced the likelihood of receiving administrative supports, thereby decreasing stress, anxiety, and depression scores (β=-0.31, p-value=0.008; β=-0.39, p-value<0.001; and β=-0.42, p-value=0.008, respectively). Conclusions: Thesis-conducting environment, students’ expectations of future advisors and schedules might directly and indirectly impact stress, anxiety, and depression levels among students in pre-thesis and peri-thesis stages.

Abstract:
Decision Support System is a computer system that processes data into information to make decisions regarding specific semi-structured problems. It is specially developed to support solutions for unstructured management issues to enhance the quality of decision-making. The selection of potential thesis advisors at Hamzanwadi University's Informatics Engineering program is currently done by directly choosing an advisor while considering individual criteria or by seeking advice from peers. However, this direct selection method sometimes overlooks crucial aspects that should be prioritized. This research aims to construct a web-based Decision Support System (DSS) to assist final-semester students in the Faculty of Engineering at Hamzanwadi University in selecting their thesis advisors. The methodology employed in this Decision Support System is the Weighted Product method, which enables the calculation and comparison of multiple factors during the decision-making process. Factors analyzed in this study encompass the instructors' competency areas and the number of students they supervise. The utilization of this Decision Support System is expected to aid students in choosing an appropriate and fitting thesis advisor according to their needs. Moreover, the Decision Support System is anticipated to aid the faculty in providing information about potential thesis advisors before students finalize their choices. This research is expected to contribute to and benefit the development of information technology in the education sector

Abstract:
Aim: The study, it is aimed to examine the content of postgraduate thesis studies on university campuses. Method: The bibliometric analysis method was used to reveal a general profile of the studies. 132 theses were reached through the CoHE Thesis Center database. The theses were analyzed within the scope of a year, type, subject, gender of the author, the title of the advisor, the language of publication, number of pages, the university published, type of university, institute, and department. Results: The theses published are mostly written by female authors, are generally carried out by advisors with the title of professors, and have a high percentage of the Turkish publication language. Master’s theses are the majority, and most theses have been prepared at the Middle East Technical University. The studies have focused on similar issues and the concepts of ‘accessibility’ and ‘sustainability’ have been studied on campuses in recent years. Conclusion: Although the first universities in the form of campuses started to form in the second half of the 20th century in our country, the first thesis was prepared in 1989. This situation shows that it is late in terms of timing. Today, with the increasing number of universities, the theses for university campuses will increase gradually

Abstract:

The present study intends to investigate the possible contributing factors of thesis writing anxiety and the possible strategies that could be taken to help reduce thesis writing anxiety. For these purposes, this study conducted interviews with six Indonesian learners of English in English language departments and two Indonesian English lecturers who were thesis advisors. From Thematic Analysis, this study found two factors contributing to learners' anxiety. These were perceived inability to express ideas in good English writing and getting negative evaluations from their respective thesis advisor. Furthermore, three strategies were believed by both learners and advisors to help reduce learners' thesis writing anxiety. These included using grammar checker tools to improve writing quality and learning grammar, reading journal articles to improve learners’ mastery of the research topic, and creating a positive atmosphere for consultation sessions. Based on the findings, it is suggested, among others, that exposure to various academic texts and the use of grammar in academic contexts should be increased earlier in the curricula. Thesis advisors are also encouraged to show support and instill optimism. Contributions of this study are stated alongside several suggested directions for future studies.

Abstract:
Scholarship has shown that writing groups are important sites of authority negotiation for student writers, yet little empirical research has examined how groups negotiate authority through conversation or how these negotiations influence students’ developing expertise. Drawing on observations and interviews of an undergraduate thesis and a graduate dissertation writing group, I use the concept of “presentification” to analyze conversational moments in which group members referenced advisors, “making present” advisor authority to influence group collaborations. Specifically, I analyze these moments to show how writing groups can serve as low-stakes communities in which students negotiate their emerging sense of authority. I found that whereas less experienced writers looked to advisors to solve writing problems and used advisor authority to stand in for disciplinary expertise, more experienced writers voiced advisor guidance to help pose writing problems and negotiate their own stance as disciplinary experts. This study thus theorizes one process through which student writers negotiate emerging authority across sites of literate practice and in collaboration with others who may not themselves be members of the same disciplinary community.

Abstract:
EFL undergraduates have been making every effort to finish their theses throughout the process of thesis proposal, thesis proposal exam, writing thesis, oral thesis test, and thesis revision. This study invited four graduates of the English department who had finished their thesis within six months or less. They were interviewed in-depth via Zoom to reveal the tactics and solutions they had used to succeed in their undergraduate thesis. The authors used a narrative inquiry case study to justify their experiences, solutions, and strategies in writing their thesis. The participants understood the difficulty of conducting research and writing a thesis but overcame it through perseverance, determination, and self-discipline. They did various research preparation tasks during the thesis proposal, such as reading related sources to strengthen their references and learning how to create a thesis. They lacked the confidence to attend the thesis proposal exam, but they prepared it at their best. They could complete each section of the thesis with the help of their peers and advisor. Maintaining positive relationships with one's mentor, examiner, and peers could help them feel more confident in their writing and reduce the stress associated with writing a thesis. They calmed their tension, reread all thesis chapters, and practiced their presentation to ace their thesis examination. They were able to complete their thesis revision on schedule due to the guidance of their thesis mentor and an encouraging examiner. How further research solutions of the four participants were elucidated in this study.

Abstract:
One of the obligations of undergraduate students at the end of their study is writing a thesis. During the process, students find several problems that can hinder them completing their thesis. This study was aimed at finding and analyzing the factors that hinder the completion of the thesis and how the students try to cope with the factors. This study used a qualitative descriptive approach by using questionnaire and interview as the research instruments. The population in this study was the undergraduate students of the English Education Study Program who were working on or had finished working on their thesis. The results showed that there were ten factors that hindered students' thesis completion. Of the ten factors, the writers categorized them into two parts, namely internal factors and external factors. The internal factors are; health, psychological barriers, academic ability, and approach (attitude and study habits). While external factors are in the form of; family, environment/friends, thesis administration system, thesis advisor guidance process, references, and other activities. If sorted from the factor most experienced by students to the factor least experienced, the results are psychological barriers (92.9%), reference (78.6%), academic ability (74.3%), learning approach (74.3%), thesis advisor guidance (71.4%), thesis administration system (64.3%), health problems (54.3%), family (48.6%), environment/friends (45.7%), and other activities; participating in internal/external campus organization, working, and some unnecessary activities (30%). In facing the factors, students make various kinds of efforts so that they can still complete their thesis project.

Abstract:
Producing an article from a thesis is a topic that arises before or after completing a master’s or doctoral dissertation. Publishing an article using thesis data before completing the thesis can call into question the originality of the thesis. It is more appropriate to publish after the thesis has been completed. The publication after completing the thesis enhances the researcher’s and thesis’s visibility. However, when producing an article from the thesis, it is necessary to indicate that it was created from the thesis. Additionally, if the advisor has contributed significantly during the article writing process, they must be identified as the second author. Producing an article from a thesis is not just a copy-paste and is more difficult than anticipated. Editors and reviewers easily recognize an article that has been hastily converted. Therefore, an intensive effort is required when converting a thesis into an article.

Abstract:
The majority of academic degrees include thesis projects as part of the overall learning process. Despite efforts by the educational sector to improve students' writing abilities, many students struggle with academic writing. As a result, it is essential to discuss the problems of writing an undergraduate thesis and provide plans to overcome these difficulties. In this study, the researchers determined the students' level of difficulty in writing an undergraduate thesis. The researchers used descriptive correlational research through survey questionnaires to collect, classify, and analyze the data. The data was from 117 undergraduate students, respectively. Frequency, Percentage, Weighted Mean, and Chi-square was used to measure the relationships between variables. The study revealed the relationships between the student's demographic variables and level of difficulty in terms of English Proficiency, Research Methodology, Team Attitude, Research Topic, and Advisor Relationship. While no significant relationship was identified between demographic variables and level of difficulty in terms of time management. Based on the research findings, it was discovered that the highest predictor of what causes students to struggle in writing an undergraduate thesis is the Methodology, while the Advisor Relationship was the least predictor. As a result, a student research program was proposed to act efficiently, providing plans to improve students' research capabilities, resulting in increased productivity and paper quality.

Abstract:
Conspicuous consumption is a concept that refers to individuals' consumption behaviors carried out to showcase their social status and gain prestige. First introduced in Thorstein Veblen's 1899 work The Theory of the Leisure Class, this concept highlights how individuals consciously reflect their social position through the goods and services they consume. Today, with the widespread use of social media platforms, conspicuous consumption has evolved from reflecting individual preferences to becoming more visible under the influence of social norms, cultural expectations, and economic conditions. However, the negative impacts on sustainability, the potential to deepen social inequalities, and the risk of generating dissatisfaction among individuals are among the criticized aspects of conspicuous consumption. This study aims to map the areas of focus related to conspicuous consumption at the national level in Turkey by analyzing graduate theses that include the term "conspicuous consumption" in their titles within specific categories. The research population consists of graduate theses archived in the National Thesis Center of the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) Documentation Department. The sample includes 70 graduate theses with "conspicuous consumption" in their titles, registered in the National Thesis Center. The included theses were analyzed using bibliometric analysis based on factors such as year, university, department, author gender, advisor title, thesis type, data collection techniques, and research methods. The analysis revealed that the theses were written between 2007 and 2024. The study concludes with the recommendation that more detailed doctoral-level research should be conducted on the subject.

Abstract:
Automatic financial consulting (robo-advice) is a financial innovation in the area of personal financial planning, and in particular investment consulting classified as fin-tech (financial technology). The main disadvantage of traditional investment advice is limited availability due to the required amount of assets and high management costs. These disadvantages are answered by robo-advice, using artificial intelligence and algorithms without the participation of a physical adviser, thereby reducing or abolishing minimal assets and reducing costs [Kocianski 2016]. The purpose of the article is to analyze strengths and weaknesses as well as opportunities and threats of robo-advisors, especially when compared to traditional financial advisors. This paper is an analysis of a history, regulations, application, functionality and development of Robo-Advice. The concept of Robo-Advice was critically analysed, with presentation of current strength and weaknesses, as well as opportunities and threats. We aimed showing that Robo-Advice should be innovative, feature a new approach, and should transform the current financial consulting. There are still, however, many opportunities and challenges in this field, which await discovering. The article uses the SWOT analysis method, analysis of the literature and reports. As indicated by the analysis, robo-advisors are not a threat to traditional financial advisors, but their complement, which makes the hybrid model connecting a physical advisor assisted by technological solutions (robo-advisors) most likely. This thesis is also confirmed by the small scale of robo-advisors’ activity compared to traditional advisors measured by the market penetration rate (in 2023 about 2% assets under management).

Abstract:
This study investigates the current situation of graduation thesis writing among undergraduates of Chinese Teaching as a Foreign language major in five universities in Vietnam from four aspects: the factors influencing whether students choose to write graduation thesis, the topic selection and form of graduation thesis, the difficulties in writing graduation thesis and the examination and evaluation process of graduation thesis. The study found that the lack of curriculum in Vietnamese universities resulted in the lack of essay writing skills and awareness of students. The number of students who choose to write graduation thesis every year is small, the quality of the thesis is low, and the degree of dependence on the Advisor is high. graduation thesis is mainly in the form of monographic research and investigation report, and there are few papers in the form of teaching experiment, teaching design and case analysis. The thesis topic is lack of innovation, and the major development trend is not updated in time. There is no effective way for students to find references, and the regulations and review process of graduation thesis are not rigorous enough. This study thinks that in order to improve these problems and improve the quality of students' graduation thesis, it should be reformed from top to bottom :(1) Adjust the curriculum and strengthen the training of thesis writing skills; (2) Appropriate attention should be paid to the graduation thesis, which is stipulated as a necessary condition for students to obtain the degree certificate, and the requirements of the thesis should be standardized; (3) Establish data database as soon as possible to provide convenience for students to find references and school papers.

From the findings of this study, there are four forms of politeness used by students, namely pronominal sentences, indirect sentences, opening sentences, and word appreciation sentences. The most widely used forms of politeness are opening sentences and appreciation words. Five politeness scales were also found, namely the cost and benefit scale, the optionality scale, the indirectness scale, the authority scale, and the last is social distance scale, where this scale is the most widely used. All politeness data are influenced by relative power and social distance, and there is no size of imposition politeness factor found. There are also two forms of impoliteness in this study, directness and without using the word appreciation and some students are classified as impolite based on the optionality scale. Students use all existing forms of politeness because they use Indonesian politeness forms and Indonesian culture, which considers these forms a sign that sentences in a conversation are considered polite. The form of politeness used by students is influenced by the politeness scale, that is social distance and vice versa. Based on the result, it can be concluded that most of the students have used politeness form when communicating with their lecturers through WhatsApp text messages.

Abstract:
Objective: To estimate the association between the academic, personal, and work characteristics and scientific production of professors at a private university of Lima, Peru, in 2021. Methods: We undertook an observational, analytical, and cross-sectional study. The sample included 322 professors through simple random sampling. Two questionnaires were administered. The first gathered personal, academic, and work characteristics; while the second evaluated scientific production. The chi-squared test was used, with a significance level of p<0,05, to evaluate the association between the different characteristics and scientific production. A multiple logistic regression was analyzed through the Stepwise method to evaluate the relationship between the variables of exposure and scientific production. We calculated prevalence ratios (PRs) with their respective 95% confidence intervals (95% CI). Results: We analyzed 322 professors, 59,6% were male. Scientific production was associated with being registered in Renacyt (PR = 5,52; 95% CI: 2,14 to 4,23; p = <0.001), having a doctoral degree (PR = 2,45; 95% CI: 1,60 to 3,85; p = <0.001), having been a thesis advisor (PR = 3,83; 95% CI: 1,45 to 5,66; p = <0.001), having facilities to conduct research at the workplace (PR = 1,58; 95% CI: 1,12 to 2,47; p = 0.006), and having received training by the university (PR = 1,99; 95% CI: 1,55 to 2,56; p = 0,001). Conclusions: Scientific production was associated with being registered in Renacyt, having a doctoral degree, having been a thesis advisor, having facilities to conduct research at the workplace, and having being trained in research by the university. Hence, evaluation systems and the monitoring of university quality standards should be strengthened. In addition, it is necessary to undertake wider scope studies in order to enhance the strategies that promote professors’ research.

Abstract:
In 1960 I was looking for an interesting thesis topic. My advisor, Professor Harold Hand of the University of Illinois, suggested that I combine my two interests of language teaching and psychology and gave me a month to research the possibilities in this area. After a concentrated period of reading and searching, I gathered together my 3 by 5 cards and went to see Professor Hand. I reported to him that, from my reading, it was clear that, in the present state of the field, it would be impossible to apply the psychologists' theories to the processes of language learning and teaching. To this he replied “Then you go and do it.”

Abstract:
We present an integrable nonholonomic case of rolling without sliding of a gyroscopic ball over a sphere. This case was introduced and studied in detail by Vasilije Demchenko in his 1923 doctoral dissertation defended at the University of Belgrade, with Anton Bilimovi?c as the advisor. These results are absolutely unknown to modern researchers. The study is based on the C. Neumann coordinates and the Voronec principle. By using the involved technique of elliptic functions, a detailed study of motion is performed. Several special classes of trajectories are distinguished, including regular and pseudoregular precessions. The so-called remarkable trajectories, introduced by Paul Painlev?e and Anton Bilimovi?c, are described in the present case. The historical context of the results as well as their place in contemporary mechanics are outlined.
