A knot in a thickened surface [Formula: see text] is a smooth embedding [Formula: see text], where [Formula: see text] is a closed, connected, orientable surface. There is a bijective correspondence between knots in [Formula: see text] and knots in [Formula: see text], so one can view the study of knots in thickened surfaces as an extension of classical knot theory. An immediate question is if other classical definitions, concepts, and results extend or generalize to the study of knots in a thickened surface. Abstract:
E. twice, in the same young multiparous, observed a miscarriage. In both cases, the decidua turned out to be strongly thickened and affected, especially on the surface, with a small celled infiltrate; but after processing them according to the Gram-Weigert method, there was a significant difference between the general deciduae. While during a miscarriage, which occurred 21/2 years ago, cocci were found in the decidua, during the last day of miscarriage, bacilli were found, which W. was even able to demonstrate in a clean wiring.

Abstract:
Sclerocarpus, a genus belonging to subtribe Helianthinae (Asteraceae, Heliantheae), is recognized by the pales surrounding its ovary and sometimes part of the corolla and becoming thickened and hardened at maturity, usually developing tubercles on the surface. The genus comprises eight species from which seven are American mainly distributed in Mexico and Central America. This work provides the first register of the genus for South America, by recording Sclerocarpus africanus in the Bahia state, northeast of Brazil. The results include description and illustration for the species.

Molding parameters are significant for compression molding. In this paper, the molding process for low pressure sheet molding compounds thickened by crystalline unsaturated polyester was investigated. The optimal molding parameters such as molding temperature, molding pressure and curing time were determined by orthogonal test. And the effect of molding parameters on flexural strength and surface quality of molded parts were also studied. Results showed that when the molding temperature was 115°C, the pressure adding time was beginning at 15s after LPMC was put into the die cavity, the moving

Root and shoot attributes of 12 indigenous perennial accessions of the wild mungbean (Vigna radiata ssp. sublobata) were evaluated in early and late summer sowings in the field in SE Queensland. All but one of the accessions were obtained from the Townsville–Charters Towers region of NE Queensland. In both sowings, the accessions developed thickened tap and lateral roots, the taproot thickening extending to a depth of 0.20–0.30 m below the soil surface, depending on accession. The thickened lateral roots emerged from the taproot within 0.10 m of the soil surface, and extended laterally up to 1

The thickness distribution of oxidation film on the surface of AISI304 stainless steel tapered pipe, its influence factors, and the effect of metal matrix deformation on oxidation behavior during dieless drawing were studied in this paper. The results showed that oxidation rate was affected strongly by induction heating temperature and deformation degree. The thickness distribution of oxidation film was uneven and increased from the larger diameter end to the smaller diameter end along the axial direction of tapered pipe. When induction heating temperature raised or the distance between heat a

Aluminium alloy AA 2219 has been selected for fabrication of both earth storable and cryogenic propellant tanks of launch vehicles due to its high specific strength, compatibility with liquid propellants, good resistance to stress corrosion cracking (SCC), excellent properties at cryogenic temperatures and good fabricability including weldability. Propellant tanks are fabricated by welding sheets in T87 and rings in T851 temper conditions. Microstructural characterization was carried out on the weldments with sheet-sheet and sheet-forge configuration using optical microscopy and electron micro

Abstract:
A new species of Brassica from Sicily, namely B. trichocarpa, is described and illustrated. This suffrutex was found on a calcareous peak of a mount near Palermo, where it is represented by a single population occupying a really small surface. It is well differentiated from the other perennial species belonging to B. sect. Brassica mainly in having hairy ovary and very short, thickened, hairy, not torulose fruits. Its relationships and taxonomical position within this group are examined too. An analytical key of the current taxa belonging to the genus Brassica sect. Brassica is also provided.

A new endemic species of Microlicia from campos rupestres of the Espinhaço Range is described and illustrated. The new species is characterized by having leaves of different sizes distributed along the branches, petioles 1–2 mm long, leaf blade that are attenuate at the base, with an entire margins, prominent and thickened nerves mainly on the abaxial surface, and an indumentum of short pale, glandular trichomes and sessile golden glands covering the whole plant. It resembles M. avicularis, M. tomentella and M. elegans, which also occur in the Espinhaço Range, in Minas Gerais state.

Two new multipileate species of Postia (Polyporaceae, Basidiomycotina) are described. Postia brunnea sp. nov. is characterised by a compound fruit-body with imbricate pilei, a brown, dark umbrinous upper pileus surface, hyphal walls that partially dissolve in KOH, and ellipsoid (somewhat pip- or D-shaped) spores with slightly thickened walls. The species has been found in New Zealand and Australia, on decaying logs of Eucalyptus, Libocedrus, Metrosideros and Nothofagus species, and has been confused with Ryvardenia campyla (Berk.)
