Abstract Abstract 5174 The U.S. Government's “2008 Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans” recommends children perform at least 60 minutes of moderate to vigorous intensity physical activities (PA) a day while the recommendation for adults is 30 minutes per day at least 5 days a week. As fewer Americans meet these guidelines, it is unknown where patients with thalassemia (Thal) stand. Based on anecdotal evidence, it is assumed that patients with Thal have decreased PA due to their severe anemia and cardiomyopathies secondary to iron overload. We estimated total biomass and total carbon in 18 selected woody mangrove species based on the IVI values along with physico-chemical parameters of sea water and soil. AGB and BGB values were calculated as per the standard protocol in BWLS in five sampling stations namely Dangmal, Bhitarkanika, Habalikhati, Ekakula and Gupti. The highest values of IVI were noted for E. agallocha followed by A. officinalis, A. marina, H. fomes and C. decandra. Total biomass of species range was found to be varying between 0.69 tha-1 in X. molluccensis and 2122.17 tha-1 in A. officinalis. Total site-wise biomass

Abstract:
Purpose: Direct anterior approach total hip arthroplasty (DA THA) has been reported to improve early outcomes compared to posterior approach THA up to 6 weeks postoperatively. Limited weekly outcomes data are available prior to 6 weeks. We evaluate outcomes including when patients first drive a car, leave home, and discontinue their assist device. Methods: Patients undergoing THA for primary osteoarthritis were prospectively enrolled. Outcomes data were collected preoperatively and postoperatively at weekly intervals for 6 weeks. Results: 111 patients (55 DA and 56 posterior approach) were enr

Objectives: Summary physical health scores for the Short Form (SF) measures are computing using positive weights for physical items and negative weights for mental health items. Mental health summary scores use positive weights for mental items and negative weights for physical. The RAND Health Status Inventory (HSI) measures do not use negative weights. Do these different approaches to scoring matter? The objective was to compare summary scores using both the SF and RAND-HSI.Methods: SF-36 and the Health Utilities Index Mark 3 (HUI3) were administered to a cohort of patients waiting for elect

Background Determining the aetiology of persistent pain following total hip arthroplasty (THA) can be challenging. Impingement of the iliopsoas muscle due to a malpositioned acetabular component after THA might be a potential cause of postoperative groin pain. Methods We retrospectively analysed the data of 12 consecutive patients from our orthopaedic department who underwent cup revision for painful iliopsoas impingement after primary THA. Results Thorough physical examination as well as radiological assessment of the included patients revealed that malpositioning of the acetabular component

Abstract:
Flavin-dependent halogenases chlorinate or brominate their substrates in an environmentally friendly manner, only requiring the cofactor reduced flavin adenine dinucleotide (FADH2), oxygen, and halide salts. The tryptophan 6-halogenase Thal exhibits two flexible loops, which become ordered (substrate-binding loop) or adopt a closed conformation (FAD loop) upon substrate or cofactor binding. Here, we describe the structure of NHis-Thal-RebH5 containing an N-terminal His-tag from pET28a, which crystallized in a different space group (P21) and, surprisingly, diffracted to a higher resolution of 1
