Larry, Moe, and Curly were comedians in the 1930s. Individually, they were competent comedians; as a team, they became The Three Stooges. This team is still recognized today for its slapstick comedy. Science, engineering, and mathematics are fields that many students see as separate entities. But if these fields are combined with technology, they become STEM. This paper outlines a new research project that aims to catalogue and investigate all booklength translations of Dante’s Divine Comedy in 100 countries. This will be, in fact, the first project to map the circulation and translation of Dante’s Commedia across the globe using statistics and analysis. Despite 700 years of Dante Studies, there still exists no comprehensive bibliography of translations; and critical studies still focus primarily on major languages, neglecting less-translated languages. Background. Today in the minds of Ukrainians there is a process of reappraisal of values, which requires new approaches to the cultural education of citizens. At the current stage of the formation of the Ukrainian state, in front of its culture, in particular, children education, important and responsible educational tasks arise for the younger generation to develop a worldview focused on national ideals and traditions, preserved in folk songs, tales, in outstanding literary, musical works and other significant achievements of spiritual culture. Abstract The enactment of sexual violence is a key mechanism in the reproduction of masculinity. Yet most previous research examines the victimization of women and girls, even though men and boys do sometimes experience sexual violence. I take the case of sexual bullying on a high school athletic team to investigate the legal construction of teenaged boys’ sexual victimization. I examine the police investigation and subsequent prosecution of five youths who were charged with felonies related to sexual bullying. Food is not a trifling matter on Japanese television. More visible than such cultural staples as sumo and enka, food-related talk abounds. Aired year-round and positioned on every channel in every time period throughout the broadcast day, the lenses of food shows are calibrated at a wider angle than heavily-trafficked samurai dramas, beisboru or music shows. Simply, more aspects of everyday life, social history and cultural values pass through food programming. The 2000s have been a lively decade for cities. The Worldwatch Institute estimated that 2007 was the first year in human history that more people worldwide lived in cities than the countryside. Globalisation and new digital media technologies have generated the seemingly paradoxical outcome that spatial location came to be more rather than less important, as combinations of firms, industries, cultural activities and creative talents have increasingly clustered around a select node of what have been termed “creative cities,” that are in turn highly networked into global circuits of economic cap

Refused airtime by the commercial stations because of its explicit sexual content, this song was a clear signifier of the new station’s intent—to occupy a more radical territory on Australian radio. Indeed, Double Jay’s musical entrée into the highly restrictive local broadcasting environment of the time has gone on to symbolise both the station’s role in its early days as an enfant t

Abstract:
Abstract Sometimes repetition alone suffices for comedy. When Larry of the Three Stooges puts a plank against a wall, it isn’t funny that it falls to the floor; but its falling every time he repositions it occasions laughter. British comedy excels at ludicrous repetition. Returning to a slide of “the larch” becomes hilarious from sheer redundancy on Monty Python’s Flying Circus. 1 So is the cheese seller’s recurrent negative reply when John Cleese asks if he has a particular type of cheese. In daily life, too, I have found that sometimes a repeated annoyance shifts from irritating to downright funny if it happens one time too many.

This chapter treats the period from late 1927 to 1930, a turbulent time of gratifying triumphs and frustrating reversals for Buck and Bubbles. When they returned to Nat Nazarro, he loosened his grip somewhat, allowing them to perform without him for the first time, or, as he put it in one of his ads: alone. They quickly accumulated major victories resulting in a lucrative three-year contract with RKO. They also made their first movies in Hollywood, a series of comedy two-reelers for Pathé Studios, and the following year made a brief tour of England. During this time, they again tried to free themselves from Nazarro, and, at one point, from another would-be manager who won their contract at a public auction. After much turmoil the case was finally settled by arbitration. As before, the team returned reluctantly to Nazarro’s management.

The study highlights the role of the Night Guguta Project in the theatrical art of the Republic of Moldova. A team of young actors are making their debut with this project. They have oriented themselves both from the thematic perspective and from that of the actor’s mastery to the requirements of the current audience, imposing themselves as an explosion of the new in local theatrical art. This new “explosion” started three decades after the formation the troupe, which came from the “Schukin” Theater School in Moscow, and imposes a new breath, a novel vision in the Moldovan theatrical art.
