Abstract:
Climate change is a significant concern to South Asia, requiring innovative policy development and public participation approaches. This study explores the application of game theory to analyze climate strategies depicted in two significant South Asian climate fiction (cli-fi) novels: The works of Amitav Ghosh's "The Hungry Tide" and Indra Sinha's "Animal's People." To examine how game theoretic analysis of cli-fi narratives can enable their contribution to climate policy and activism for South Asia. The approach adopted in this study involves the combined textual analysis of the selected nove

Abstract:
Patterns of in situ fertilization success with respect to high and low tide periods are reported for the intertidal red seaweed Gracilaria gracilis which inhabits rock pools. Cystocarp (zygote) production was experimentally compared at high tide and low tide in both high- and low-shore tide pools at two sites using ten virgin female plants. High- and low-shore pools showed different patterns with respect to tide period. High-shore pools showed significantly greater numbers of cystocarps at low tide than at high tide whereas cystocarp production did not differ between high and low tide periods

Parvulastra parvivipara is one of the smallest sea stars. It is restricted to tide pools on seven granite platforms within 200 km of coastline on the Eyre Peninsula of South Australia. This species exhibits intragonadal brooding and cannibalism of offspring, and gives birth to non-dispersive juveniles. Its distribution is variable, with specimens occupying few of the many seemingly similar tide pools at each site at differing densities. The abundance and distribution of P. parvivipara were examined in relation to twelve ecological variables of tide pools at all known mainland sites. An estimat

Soft-substrate tide pools are considered important habitats for fishes from an ecological perspective. However, the ecological roles of such pools and use patterns by fish remain unclear, especially regarding differences between estuarine and coastal tidal flats. In this study, quantitative sampling using the quadrat method was performed in the estuarine and coastal tidal flats on Okinawa-jima Island of subtropical Japan during four seasons. Ecological roles of soft-substrate tide pools were classified as follows: (1) permanent habitat for residents; (2) nursery ground for transients; and (3)

These authors share a concern with the influence that language has on human perception, and one of the most significant ways they attempt to connect with the natural world is through somehow escaping, or transcending, what they perceive to be the divisive tendencies of language.
