Abstract:
<p>BGP is a vital routing protocol for the communication amongst autonomous systems in the internet and has been broadly applied in all categories of large scale network. The inter-domain routing protocol (BGP) shows slow convergence, which effects on many internet applications due to its high convergence delay. The network operators broadly use different MRAI timers in BGP routers to deal with the issue of growing convergence time of the network. The variation in MRAI timer and its impact on network convergence and update messages has been broadly studied over the years. The increasing size of autonomous systems leads to rise in number of MRAI timers. Hence, the optimum use of MRAI timers can decrease the problem of slow convergence and necessity of huge number of MRAI timers. The proposed system uses the ckle minimum route advertisement interval timer (FMRAI) for fast update of routing table, which leads to reduce the convergence time of a network. In comparison with static MRAI timer of 30s the FMRAI timer leads to better result in terms of convergence time and number of update messages.</p>

Abstract:
PurposeThis study aims to examine the behavior of cash raised through market timing efforts and the success of such efforts in creating value to shareholders.Design/methodology/approachIt is shown that in two quarters, subsequent to raising equity, cash balance of market timers is higher but after that, there is no significant difference between timers and non-timers. Results of speed of adjustment regressions indicate that market timers move faster toward their target cash levels.FindingsMarket timers are small firms that suffer from asymmetric information. They have limited access to capital market, and raising external capital is an opportunity that should be timed. The results suggest that, on average, these firms are managed by more able executives, who are 10 per cent more likely to time the market; however, it is found that timing efforts are unsuccessful in creating value to shareholders even after controlling for the mitigating effect of managerial ability. Subsequent to market timing, on average, market timers earn significantly lower abnormal return over different holding periods relative to their comparable non-timer counterparts.Originality/valueOverall, the results undermine the validity of market timing as a value-maximizing financial policy.

Abstract:
The application of timer/counter in microcontroller system had provided advantages in a way that it didn’t put the burden on CPU resources and enabled CPU to perform other tasks. With the availability of 8-bit and 16-bit timer/counter, the problem laid on the selection of the type of timer/counter being used. From the experiments performed, the minimum system of AVR ATmega8535 microcontroller had precisely counted a number using two different timers/counters, namely, Timer/Counter 0 (8 bit) and Timer/Counter 1 (16 bit). The overflow condition achieved on 8-bit and 16-bit counting cycle activated OCR0 and OCR1AL registers, respectively. Output signals from port B.3 (OC0) and port D.5 (OC1A) are then fed to oscilloscope and put into comparison. From the observation of output signals, it could be proven that the two different timers/counters had equal counting speed. Hence, it can be concluded that the selection of timers/counters is more likely based on the flexibility of count range, program size and execution time

Abstract:
Analysis based on state statistics and survey data of RLMS for 2016 on 30–39-year-olds with higher education, who completed part-time and completed full-time education in universities, allows to detect the degree of commonality/differences in their socio-demographic characteristics, educational path, employment status and subjective evaluations. “Part-timers” are older, among them the proportion of women, residents of villages and settlements, who are married and have children, is higher. They study more often in rural schools and graduate from 9 rather than 11 grades; more than a half go to university after receiving a secondary vocational education. “Part-timers” are very slightly different from “Full-timers” in main indicators of labor activity: share of employed is slightly higher, one of the unemployed is lower; more often work in formally organized jobs. The first ones are distributed on somewhat lower statuses: the share of highly qualified specialists (which is formally provided by diploma) is lower and the share of workers is slightly higher. There is much more unity than differences in subjective assessments of their work by “Parttimers” and “Full-timers “. Almost three quarters are satisfied with working conditions and 7–10% are not; the ratio of satisfied to unsatisfied wages is 45 to 30%. At the same time, “Part-timers” have a small margin of positive ratings. Ideas about their place in some social hierarchies are also very close in both groups.

Abstract:
Why, given all the problems associated with part-time employment in Britain, do women work part-time at all? Does the answer to this question lie in gender-based explanations which focus on womenís caring responsibilities? This paper addresses these issues by focusing on the relative experiences of the largest group of part-timers, women working in low status occupations. It is concluded that a gender-informed analysis of womenís part-time employment is clearly vital, but an awareness of further dimensions of social inequality is required if we are to understand diversity amongst part-timers. Relative to full-timers, part-timers are similar in their life-cycle positions, their marital status and motherhood status. However, incorporating a class analysis shows that part-timers in lower status jobs stand apart in that they are disproportionately likely to have been brought up in working class households and, as adults, they are more likely to be living in very low waged households with partners who are also in low paid manual occupations. It is concluded that women go into the lowest status part-time jobs in specific social contexts and, as a result, we cannot lump together into one unified group, women working part-time in manual and higher status occupations, and then talk sensibly about part-time work and its impact on women. It is essential to examine the interaction of gender and class inequalities to better understand these womenís working lives.

Abstract:
Functional communication training (FCT) is an effective procedure to teach a functional communication response (FCR) and decrease problem behavior. However, there are limitations to FCT. These limitations include excessive manding (e.g., requesting items at a high rate) and manding at inappropriate times (e.g., requesting attention when caregiver is driving). Multiple schedules using static signals (e.g., colored cards) have been used to decrease these limitations while maintaining appropriate levels of the FCRs and low levels of problem behavior. Moreover, dynamic signals have been used to maintain low levels of problem behavior and appropriate levels of alternative responses outside of a multiple schedule format. Presently, no research has examined the comparison of static and dynamic signals to address the limitations of FCT. Therefore, the purpose of the current study is to compare the effects of static and dynamic signals (i.e., Time Timer®) during multiple schedules consisting of reinforcement and extinction components following FCT. Abstract:
In this thesis, the vehicle routing problem with stochastic, and time dependent, travel times is studied. The stochastic travel times are estimated from historical drive data. The variation of the drive times, as well as that of the variance, during the day was modeled.   The purpose of the thesis was to propose a method of handling the congestion related traffic impediments in an urban setting. Since the majority of times of delivery in the empirical test cases studied correlate with the time period of high traffic load, an efficient and robust handling of such traffic scenarios is of high importance.  It is shown that the stochastic models will shift the estimated arrivals to customers from the more volatile early and late extremes to more central regions of the time window. Previously delivered routes were evaluated both with the standard algorithm and the proposed stochastic algorithm. The difference between the actual drive times and the calculated drive times were analyzed by studying the correlation of the drive times between each customer in the route. It was shown that the routes of the proposed stochastic method increased this correlation. The drive times between nodes where also perturbed with a Gamma distributed noise. The results from the stochastic algorithm showed higher resilience to this disturbance than did the deterministic models.

Abstract:
The consequences of adverse aggregate shocks on households have been repeatedly documented, but far less has been said on the way they are passed over to individuals through the mediation of the household. Does the household contribute in mitigating the effects? Or does the economic shock rather invite itself at the family negociating table? Using the Argentine 2001 economic crisis as a natural experiment, I first show that married women are more likely to enter the labor market if their husband experienced a loss in income, giving credit to the insurance mechanism. Then, I show that the business cycle matters for investments in education, and that long run labor outcomes of Argentine men are persistently affected by the initial conditions upon graduation. Finally, I consider the “Mancession” dimension of the Great Recession in Spain and demonstrate that the resource share accruing to wives for own consumption increases together with the decreasing unemployment gap, which comes in support to the bargaining hypothesis

Abstract:
The thesis presents an ethnographic study of a group of cultural intermediaries at work in a French advertising agency. A theoretical frame drawn from selected works in cultural economy, sociology and philosophy is deployed to address the ill-understood nature of uncertainty in practice-based research on advertising. Practice-based accounts by marketers, sociologists and anthropologists typically suggest that advertising agencies are unstable businesses because they work with unpredictable stakeholders (consumers and above all clients), and because they struggle to establish the legitimacy of their expertise. The problem with this argument, however, is that whilst it insists on the fragmented identities of practitioners locked in their doubts, anxieties and even myths, the everyday nature, experience and ways in which cultural intermediaries deal with such uncertainties are underexplored. During the three-month empirical study multiple research methods were used to collect data, including participant observation, interviews and visual techniques. It was established during fieldwork that uncertainty is best expressed in the awkward relationships practitioners entertain with time. The analysis of these relationships runs through three analysis chapters. One explains how imaginative conversations, practices and uses of objects seek to restrain time-related uncertainties by ―constructing‖ time. The second further analyses this construction by describing the ways in which practitioners unshackle themselves from their feelings of wasting time. The third relates this construction to the ways in which time is incorporated into creative work and sold to clients. The thesis contributes a deeper and temporally-based interpretation of uncertainty to the small number of ethnographic studies of advertising agencies.

Abstract:
Combined heat and power (CHP) systems are widely used considering the prevention of global climate change and the reduction of energy costs. In distributed CHP systems, both high efficiency of elements and good coordination of the systems are considered as the points to solve. We had been researched and demonstrated the micro gas turbine CHP system with heat storage at Sapporo City University from April 2006 to March 2010. At first, the start times of microturbine (MGT) and heat storage system (HST) was set up by schedule timers. In 2008 the schedule timers were substituted to a new programmable logic controller (PLC) and the start times of MGT and HST were calculated as the function of temperature outside and room temperature. Setting the start time of MGT at maximum 5 hours before 8:00 and interlocking relays of HST on MGT, the start times were calculated from temperature outside and room temperature at 21:00 the day before. Control of start time using PLC was demonstrated from Feb. 21, 2009 to June 1 and from Nov. 16 to Jan. 7, 2010. It is shown the time series data of temperature and analysis of the CHP with the original boiler heating system.

In many cases after 25 plus years of service it may be time to look at the replacement/ upgrade of the instrumentation associated with the stator water cooling skid applicable to armature bars that need to operate in a high or low oxygenated environment. Standards, codes, consolidation, location, redundancy, obsolescence, environmental, safety concerns and runback functionality should be reviewed prior to the next outage or scheduled stator rewind and prudent instrumentation enhancements, if deficient from the list above, should be considered. At the time of instrumentation upgrades, consideration should be given to relocation and improvement of the runback system, e.g. timers, relays, power supplies, and system functionality. Field adjustments quantifying the runback circuit is operating correctly, from both the series of on-off pulses to the turbine reference motor causing a proper load reduction rate and the two trip timers activating at the time the runback begins, need to be verified for proper operation.

Abstract:
Embedded Systems software reliability is increasingly important, therefore methods to harden existing software are needed. In general, hardening software against various failures is a necessity in modern computer systems. A lot of work has been published regarding many possible ways to achieve this non-functional requirement. Relevant topics include, e.g., test procedures, recommended development flows, and hardware measures like watchdog timers. One of these methods seems very promising to be software implemented in modern embedded systems: Control Flow Checking by signatures. Various authors have shown the effectiveness and feasibility of Control Flow Checking (CFC) by signatures for personal computer software. For instance it has been shown for standard computer-systems, that CFC is capable of reducing undetected control flow errors by at least one magnitude. This survey will focus on the applicability of such software hardening methods to embedded systems, while adhering mainly to software based approaches. Published methods will be summarized and compared. Furthermore methods to simplify derived control-flow graphs to essential states will be emphasized. Finally the possibility to apply run-time verification to the Control-flow Checking Software is considered.
