Abstract:
Art historians have generally drawn sharp distinctions be-tween conceptual art and art-and-technology. This essay reexamines the interrelationship of these tendencies as they developed in the 1960s, focus-ing on the art criticism of Jack Burnham and the artists in-cluded in the Software exhibition that he curated. The historiciza-tion of these practices as distinct artistic categories is examined. By interpreting conceptual art and art-and-technology as reflections and constituents of broad cultural transformations during the information age, the author concludes that the two tenden-cies share important similarities, and that this common ground offers useful insights into late-20th-century art.

Abstract:
Animation art is displayed in front of people in the form of images, and people have long been accustomed to attribute it to image art similar to movies. In a narrow sense, the expression form of anima-tion is really single. If we look at generalized animation from the original intention of animation, anima-tion has a broader development space, and there are more derivative possibilities of interdisciplinary com-bination. Nowadays, it is a pluralistic society, and the freedom, openness and integration of disciplines has become a trend. Starting from summarizing the three commonalities (story, role and performance) derived from the interdisciplinary animation, this paper discusses various possibilities of the interdisciplinary ex-pression forms derived from animation through practical cases.

The marginalization of the Gamelan Batel in Sibanggede Village can be observed in the form of the decrease of the traditional art values in the society, the displacement of traditional arts, the seculariza- tion of the traditional art, the narrowing of the traditional art performances, the hegemony of the modern art to that of the traditional one. Second, there are two factors that cause the Gamelan Batel in Sibanggede Village to be marginalized, namely, internal and external factors. The internal factors include lack of talent, lack of public interest, lack of open attitude, lack of funding from the govern- ment. The external factors are economics, technology and information, the function shift of the tradi- tional gamelan. Third, the impact of the marginalization of the Gamelan Batel in Sibanggede Village is in the form of the failure to form regeneration, failure of reconstruction effort, failure of revitalization effort.

Abstract:
This paper argues for the importance of empha- sizing emplacedness in studies of Fennoscandian rock art. Drawing on a discriminating analysis of three red ochre paintings from Neolithic northern Sweden, it is shown that stylistically comparable panels were created and used through divergent practices connected to their respective spatial con- text. This result raises questions about the episte- mological legitimacy of conceptualizing rock art sites as instantiations of one coherent phenome- non: a problem that is tackled by applying the Berg- sonian approach towards the relation between dif- ference and repetition. By putting forward the idea of particularity as constitutive for, rather than op- posed to, generality, it is argued that the semiotic flexibility of the elk motif can be seen as an reflec- tion of the force that simultaneously gathers and distinguishes the separate rock art sites across the region of Norrland.

This paper presents the results of an action pedagogical research, conducted within the course Methodical practicum of teaching art with students, future preschool teachers, at the Faculty of Education in Jagodina. The aim of the research is to enhance pedagogical practice regarding practical preparation of students for planning and performing art activities with preschool children. The main focus was on students’ compe- tencies for defining art theme and pedagogical art problem of the activity. The research was based on the assumption that students find it difficult to imagine and extract an art theme from the generalized thematic scope, given by preschool teachers ‒ mentors. By changing this variable, the research tested correctness of the assumption by analyzing quality and correctness of students’ work developed on the basis of art-themed scope, instead of generalized ones. The research took three months of the fall semester in 2020/2021 and included 73 students’ written plans for art activities. Based on this sample, supported with an additional survey students took part in, the analysis resulted in conclusion that imply different factors affecting students’ efficiency regarding their work within Methodical practicum of teaching art course, but evidently supporting primary thesis that art-themed scope of tasks results with significant number of correctly defined art activity themes and problems. The results of the research can be utilized in order to reevaluate and improve methods and approaches to developing students’ competencies to work in the field of art educa- tion with preschool children efficiently by understanding difficult points in students’ learning proces

HIV infection represents a major public health problem for both developing and developed countries as it has grown to pandemic proportions worldwide. Spectrum of clinical presentation of HIV can vary with geographical distribu-tion, socioeconomic and cultural environment. The aim of this study was to examine the socio-demographic charac-teristics, clinical presentations of HIV/AIDS patients, opportunistic infections and the possible risk factors for ac-quiring HIV infection. A cross sectional study was conducted from March to September, 2011 at an antiretroviral therapy (ART) centre of a rural tertiary care hospital, situated in Maharashtra state of India. History and physical examination was done and recorded on a pre-designed schedule which included the socio-demographic and clinical profile of the patients. More than half of the subjects were in economically productive age group and male patients 166 (53.4%) outnumbered the female patients 145 (46.6%). There was a predominance of patients from rural loca-tions nearby the present ART centre. The patients were having low level of literacy and were from the lower middle and lower socio-economic classes. Among the spouses of male patients, 65 (44.8%) were HIV positive and among the spouses of female patients, 52 (35.7%) were HIV positive. Commonest mode of acquiring the infection was through heterosexual contact. Tuberculosis (62%) was the most common opportunistic infection. As per the WHO staging, 132 (42.5%) patients were in stage 3. Combination of behavioral risk factors and unawareness is responsi-ble for rapid spread of HIV/AIDS. People with high-risk behavior and spouses of affected patients need to be edu-cated for primary and secondary prevention. Abstract:
The article is dedicated to the research of the institution of representation in courts, in particular self-representation of the legal entity. This problem has become relevant in connection with the changes in the Constitution of Ukraine under which was introduced so-called monopoly of the attorney. Such changes provide for representation in court solely by attorneys exception of cases listed in articles 131-2 Constitution of Ukraine. At the same time physical persons and the legal entities can represent themselves independently. To that end in the procedural law introduces the concept of self-representation that is the representation different from the attorney representation. The concept of self-representation is enshrined in code of civil procedure art.58, code of commercial procedure art. 56, administrative code art. 55. With the promulgation of Law of Ukraine “On the amendment of some legal acts of Ukraine regarding expansion of possibilities of self-representation in court of the public bodies, authorities of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, local authorities, other legal entities regardless of the order of creation” dated December 18, 2019 №390-IX significantly expanded circle of persons that can represent legal entity in accordance with the self-representation. According to the author such legislative position establishes the right to represent legal entity in the court not only by the director or by member of the Executive Committee of the legal entity but also by the people who are in an employment relationship. The author considers despite the legal certainty of the norms of Law №390-IX it contains no complete list of persons that can undertake self-representation and the complete list of required documents that is necessary to provide the court. The author suggests which documents can confirm the authorization of the person that exercise self-representation of the legal entity. According to the author self-representation of the legal entity includes participation of the representative of the legal entity which has direct relationship to the legal entity and its powers already exist by internal documents in particular by labor contract. Regarding the attorney representation of the legal entity it arises by force of power of attorney. The author also claims that personal participation in the proceedings which provides self-representation of the legal entity doesn’t waive the right of the legal entity to have the representative in the case i.e. the attorney.

Abstract:
The state of research of the concept of consciousness in the criminal law literature is studied. The Consti-tution of Ukraine in Art. 62 declared that a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and may not be subjected to criminal punishment until his guilt has been proved in a lawful manner and established by a court conviction. No one is required to prove their innocence. The accusation cannot be based on evidence obtained illegally, nor on assumptions. All doubts about the guilt of a person are interpreted in his favor. This provision of the Basic Law is reflected in Part 2 of Art. 2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, Art. 2, art. 17 and item 2 part 1 of Art. 91 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine, which should maximally promote the implementation of such a constitutional norm. In turn, guilt is a mandatory feature of the subjective side of the crime, the establishment of which is the final step in establishing the crime as the only basis for criminal liability, so its clarification is important. Traditionally, in addition to guilt, the signs of the subjective side of the crime include motive, purpose and emotional state. At the same time, in the Criminal Code of Ukraine there are other features defined by the legislator as mandatory and which reveal the content of the subjective side of the crime. One of them is intentionality. It has been proved that in the science of criminal law there is an opinion that it is appropriate to interpret the term "intentionality" not as knowledge or assumptions, but only as reliable knowledge. In addi-tion, intentionality is considered not as an independent feature of the subjective side of the criminal offense, but as a feature that characterizes the intellectual moment of the relevant form of guilt (usually intent (although in the scientific community there is no unity in this case). However, there is an alternative posi-tion, according to which intentionality is an independent feature of the subjective side, which must be con-sidered in conjunction with guilt. In order to establish the urgency of the need to use the sign of intentionality in criminal law and to understand in more detail its essence, we will consider the history of the development of the use of the concept of intentionality in the monuments of domestic criminal law.

Abstract:
Decomposition products of fiberglass composites used in construc tion were identified using Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy. This bench-scale study concentrated on identification and quantification of toxic species. Identifying compounds evolved during thermal decomposition provides data to develop early fire detection systems as well as evaluate product fire safety performance. Material fire behavior depends on many factors. Ventila tion, radiant heat flux, and chemical composition are three factors that can be modeled. Physical observations of composites during thermal decomposition with simultaneous identification and quantification of evolved gases offer re searchers in both material development and fire safety an advancement in the state-of-the-art for material testing. Gas analysis by FT-IR spectroscopy iden tified toxic effluent species over a wide range of composite exposure tempera tures (100 to 1000 ° C), during pyrolysis and combustion. Fiberglass composites with melamine, epoxy, and silicone resins were profiled. Formaldehyde, meth anol, carbon monoxide, nitric oxide, methane, and benzene were identified by the spectral analysis prior to physical evidence of decomposition. Toxic concen trations of formaldehyde, carbon monoxide, nitric oxide, ammonia, and hydro gen cyanide were observed as thermal decomposition progressed.

Abstract:
The article is devoted to vitality in the art of the twentieth century, interpreted as the Sublime. Vitality manifests itself in art in a very diverse way. The dramatic attitude of the world, suffering, and pain are often synonymous with “vitality” today. But the art of oblivion is also permeated with vitality, “intoxicating”, helping to overcome the horror of existence; as well as art, attaching to the metaphysical source of being. It can be defined as sacred optimism and the ancient art and the art of the avant-garde are especially vividly evidence of it. In this case vitality is in direct contact with the Sublime. Seeking out the “other world”, overcoming the limitations of the mortal and suffering world is carried out through the transformation of the Sublime. Today the subject of the Sublime in art is at the peak of research interest. This is evidenced by the project The Art of the Sublime, launched in 2008 by the Tate Modern gallery (London, UK), dedicated to the study of this phenomenon from the Baroque era to the present day. It touches upon all types of visual art from painting to installation. Research shows how evolution goes from the natural Sublime, realized in the depiction of rare and impressive natural phenomena, to the technological Sublime, which declared itself in the second half of the twentieth century, to the distinction between the Sublime and the beautiful. In modern Moscow painting, we meet the implementation of the principle of the Sublime in the work of the artist Vladimir Matveev. Relying on the sacred art of Russian icons, and the avant-garde, the color discoveries of post-impressionism and the energetic abstraction of neo-expressionism, he creates his version of the Sublime in contemporary painting. In his large-format canvases, the artist expresses the essence of the vital as the Sublime, metaphysical and mental principles with the help of rich color and sharp juxtaposi- tion of abstract and natural forms.

Abstract:
As an effective data preprocessing step, feature selection has shown its effectiveness to prepare high-dimensional data for many machine learning tasks. The proliferation of high di-mension and huge volume big data, however, has brought major challenges, e.g. computation complexity and stability on noisy data, upon existing feature-selection techniques. This paper introduces a novel neural network-based feature selection architecture, dubbed Attention-based Feature Selec-tion (AFS). AFS consists of two detachable modules: an at-tention module for feature weight generation and a learning module for the problem modeling. The attention module for-mulates correlation problem among features and supervision target into a binary classification problem, supported by a shallow attention net for each feature. Feature weights are generated based on the distribution of respective feature selec-tion patterns adjusted by backpropagation during the training process. The detachable structure allows existing off-the-shelf models to be directly reused, which allows for much less training time, demands for the training data and requirements for expertise. A hybrid initialization method is also introduced to boost the selection accuracy for datasets without enough samples for feature weight generation. Experimental results show that AFS achieves the best accuracy and stability in comparison to several state-of-art feature selection algorithms upon both MNIST, noisy MNIST and several datasets with small samples.

Abstract:
Nuclear power is effective and safe source of electricity. Meanwhile, uranium reserves in the earth's crust will run out in 100 years with the development of traditional nuclear reactors. The Rosatom “Proryv” project implementation will allow multiplying fuel sources for the new genera-tion nuclear power through the closing fuel cycle. Radiation safety of the new nuclear powers should be based on the state of the art Russian national and international regulations, as well as on predicted radiation doses, estimates of potential radiation risks and radiation detriment of the public. Developed methods for computational analysis of possible doses of estimates of radia-tion risks and population-based detriment, associated with atmospheric fallouts of radioactive substances from the BREST-OD-300 reactor, corresponds to the currently recognized approach-es to evaluating safety of nuclear energy facilities. Developed method for radiation detriment es-timating is in accordance with ICRP recommendations. It allows making assessment of radiation-associated health effects for Russian population with account of patients’ quality of life provided by the current health care system. The analysis of possible radiation doses and potential radia-tion risks shows that the upper 95% confidence bound of radiation detriment for the critical group of population in the town of Seversk (girls of 5 years of age) even in the event of beyond design basis accident at the reactor equals 1.1610-5 year-1, and does not exceed the radiation risk limit of 510-5 years-1, established by Russian national radiation safety regulations NRB-99/2009 for the population during normal operation of ionizing radiation sources. In the event of an accidental situation on the Brest-OD-300 reactor, the average estimates of radiation risks for the population living within the 30-km zone around the JSC “Siberian Chemical Combine” will generally remain in the range of negligible risk and will not exceed the level of 10-6 year-1.

Abstract:
Annotation. The article analyzes the little-studied art of the Ukrainian publishing sign, which has a history of almost fifty years and is well known for its highly artistic works. An excursion into the past of the Ukrainian publishing label has been made, collecting documents scattered across various sources of reports on samples of the publishing labels, both known and in the vast majority of unknown authors, and we pay tribute to this important cultural heritage that has developed in the course of the European process. The publishing signs of the second half of XX – beginning of XXI centuries are described and their artistic features are analyzed. The art of the Ukrainian emblem, especially in the last century, has not been practically studied. Probably, the topic is considered too small to draw enough attention. Turning pages of the book, few people pay atten- tion to the publishing house, thanks to which we have the happy opportunity to hold it. The artistic decision of modern publishing signs, which often quite often has a small font character, is not striking. They are created mainly by artists, editorial staff, without paying much attention to this process. However, there are times when they turn out to be the work of talented young artists who, over time, become famous. For example, the well-known art publishing signs for the leading Kiev publishing houses "Art" (artist V. E. Perevalsky) and "Rainbow" (artist O. I. Gubarev), created at that time by young graphic artists, who are now well-known folk artists of Ukraine. However, the art of the sign is an important component of book graphics, it does not lose its relevance at a new stage of society and deserves in-depth study.

Abstract:
Based on a recent survey on the artistic work in a French region, the article consid-ers visual artists as a control population illustrating the possible destinies of low or poorly paid self-employment in contemporary capitalism. Artistic activities mainly attract graduates and people from the upper classes who nevertheless accept to be paid very little for their art and even, as entrepreneurs would do, to invest regularly in order to continue their activity. The maintenance of their artistic vocation then requires recourse to secondary income from social benefits, family resources or the development of complementary remunerative activities. Since all these possible combinations are not equally accessible, they determine variable regimes of artis-tic production, self-presentation and various articulations between salaried and non-salaried activities, the borderline case of which is the abandonment of crea-tion.

The paper analyzes an extensive tour activity of the state academic dance ensemble of Dagestan «Lezghinka» across Eastern countries in the context of cultural relations development. Based on archivial sources and materials of the periodical press, the authors emphasize that in the 1960s the ensemble became a tru representative of people’s diplomacy, carrier and popularizer of multinational culture of the country. The role of «Lezghinka» in the promo-tion of the folk choreographic art, general humani-tarian values during each tour is noted. The usage of fundamental multi-factor approach has allowed us to draw the conclusion that the ensemble having become a representative not only of Dagestan but also of the whole country plays an important role in smoothing military and ethnic conflicts, clearly indi-cating its position, carrying the banner of peace, friendship and solidarity between people.

Abstract:
The article substantiates the relevance of the formation of children's creative activity with the help of folklore in the process of integration of different types of artistic activities in the theory and practice of preschool education. It is noted that the highest form of human’s activity and at the same time his characteristic is creativi-ty, at the same time creative activity is defined as human activity in a particular type of creativity, which acquires essential and specific features of creativity. As a result we can mention that creativity and activity are interrelated, interpenetrating concepts that influence each other. Different approaches of understanding the essence of the concepts "creativity", "activity" are revealed and the main interpretations of these terms in philosophy, psy-chology and pedagogy are reflected. It is determined that in the studying of creativity there are two approaches: creativity as an activity; creativity as a personality trait. Based on the research of philosophers on the prob-lems of education of social activity, artistic creativity, we consider creative activity as a complex, integral quality of personality, which is a dialectical unity of general, peculi-ar to all types of social activity, and especially specific only as a measure of personality’s activity in art, has two interconnected aspects: external and internal. The external side involves the implementation of ac-tions and deeds which have creative nature. Internal involves a conscious, meaningful attitude to the activities performed, the manifestation of volitional qualities associ-ated with achieving the result. Older preschool age is the basis for the formation of creative activity and children's creativity in general, as the developmental perception of the child is the causative agent of the child's activity and creative activity in gen-eral. One of the means that contributes to younger genera-tion personality’s formation, which carries enormous educational potential, is folk art, because it contains wis-dom, the best people’s moral and aesthetic experience. In addition, it contributes to the formation of children’s crea-tivity. Based on the analysis of research, the possibilities of such types of oral folk art as fairy tales, proverbs and sayings, riddles in the formation of creative activity, based on their nature and content.

Abstract:
Modern epistemology of science has carried out a strong criticism of the domi-nant views of the positivist and neo-positivist model of knowledge and actual-ly undermined its authority. At the turn of several centuries, the positivist posi-tion has been experiencing significant theoretical and methodological difficul-ties in explaining the nature of social life and the prospects for socio-historical development. Because of this, the study of modern approaches to criticism of such areas as positivism, with a special indication of the importance of social and humanitarian knowledge for understanding the processes taking place in modern society, is of particular importance. The present research is based on the accepted in social philosophy analysis methods of primary sources and re-search literature. Over a long period of time, the predominance of the mecha-nistic, materialistic and deterministic view of the world, the introduction of cal-culation, measurement and accuracy as the basic methodological principles of science, armed with the postulation of quantitatively defined entities, formed no less characteristic social ethics. Abstract schemes, formalist methods, uni-versal ideas and concepts subordinated all to the identical logic of the Autono-mous subjective mind and its basic predicate – the intellectualist will to power. The twenty-first century, together with its strong criticism of positivism in many of its manifestations, clearly proves to us, through a profound analysis of positivist approaches, that the reality around us is much closer to chaos than to space. Thus, the result of the study is the designation of the special im-portance of social and humanitarian knowledge in the XXI century for the study of the processes taking place in society, while recognizing the inability of the exact Sciences to describe social actions. Being opposite in the method of approaches to the study of society, they coincide in the goal, which is to achieve a state of non-duality – the lack of separation into the subject and the object of the exhaustion of self. The author considers such experience to be the limit for human existence simultaneously with the statement of its chaotic and non-deterministic nature in development.

Abstract:
Thrombosis of hemodialysis accesses remains a major source of morbidity, hospitalization, and expense for patients with end-stage renal disease. Treatment of hemodialysis accesses includes strategies to prevent ac cess failure and methods for treating acute thromboses. Such techniques as Doppler ultrasonography, venous pressure monitoring during dialysis, measurement of ra tios of venous to systemic pressures, and measurement of recirculation have been used to predict accesses at risk of thrombosis. Elective interventions, including surgical re visions and angioplasties, have been shown to lessen the thrombosis rate in both polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) grafts and arterio-venous fistulas. Elective revision has also improved long-term patency of both grafts and fistu las when compared with repairing the accesses only after thrombosis. Despite these attempts, acute thrombosis of hemodialysis accesses remains a common complication for patients with end-stage renal disease. Historically, surgical thrombectomy has been the gold standard for treatment of acute hemodialysis access failure. Over the past 10 years, thrombolytic therapy has gained an in creasing role in the treatment of acutely thrombosed PTFE grafts. Thrombolysis has had at least comparable results to surgical thrombectomy in the best centers, with similar complication rates. Thrombolytic therapy is also significantly less expensive than surgical thrombectomy. In summary, we believe that hemodialysis access treat ment should encompass a comprehensive program, in cluding access surveillance to select accesses at risk of failure. Elective intervention should be performed in an attempt to prevent thrombosis and increase long-term ac cess patency. When thrombosis does occur, pharmaco mechanical thrombolysis is the preferable first interven tion for acutely occluded PTFE hemodialysis accesses.

Abstract:
Object and purpose of research. This paper discusses cavitation erosion on propeller blades. The purpose of this work is to review and analyse modern studies on cavitation erosion, as well as to apply these research results for better under-standing of cavitation damage risk on full-scale propellers. Materials and methods. The paper reviews recent studies on cavitation erosion, as well as the author’s own findings in cavitation erosion on full-scale steel propellers, analyzing the energy needed to create cavitation damage of recorded size. This energy was calculated as per the model based on the results of metallurgical studies discussing the effect of shot blasting upon steel properties. Comparison of these results with those obtained as per classic formulae for the collapse energy of cavita-tion bubble made it possible to estimate the conditions of cavitation erosion on propeller blades. Main results. The review of recent studies on cavitation erosion has shown that current progress in the technologies of experimental studies and computer-based simulations made it possible to considerably improve the knowledge about cavitation erosion process as compared to the level of the 20th century. This review shows that cavitation erosion studies followed three practically independent paths: experimental studies and computer-based simulation of flow around propeller blades with locali-zation of peaks for one or several criteria reflecting the intensity of cavitation energy fluctuations; the studies intended to esti-mate the pressure exerted by collapsing cavitation bubbles and emerging cumulative jets; and finally, the studies on the proper-ties of materials affected by cumulative jets and collapsing bubbles. At this point, it would be practicable to merge these three paths using the results of full-scale cavitation erosion analysis for propellers. KSRC findings in cavitation damage of full-scale steel propeller has shown that cavitation damage recorded in these studies might occur due to a certain combination between the required energy, bubble-blade interaction pressure and the size of affect-ed area on steel blade surface, and this combination, in its turn, might take place when cavitation bubbles consisting of vapour fraction with partial air content hit the blade surface and collapse. Conclusion. This paper shows the capabilities of modern research methods in obtaining new data on the inception mecha-nism of cavitation erosion. Still, to develop the methods for prediction of cavitation erosion (in particular, on propellers), it is necessary to merge the results obtained in different branches of cavitation studies. The basis for this merging could become a power-based analysis of cavitation processes, with help of the cavitation erosion model suggested in this paper and based on the similarity between cavitation erosion and shot-blasting.

Abstract:
Estimating the depth of the scene from a monocular image is an essential step for image semantic understanding. Practically, some existing methods for this highly ill-posed issue are still in lack of robustness and efficiency. This paper proposes a novel end-to-end depth esti- mation model with skip connections from a pre- trained Xception model for dense feature extrac- tion, and three new modules are designed to im- prove the upsampling process. In addition, ELU activation and convolutions with smaller kernel size are added to improve the pixel-wise regres- sion process. The experimental results show that our model has fewer network parameters, a lower error rate than the most advanced networks and requires only half the training time. The evalu- ation is based on the NYU v2 dataset, and our proposed model can achieve clearer boundary de- tails with state-of-the-art effects and robustness.

Continually expanding periodically translated kernels on the two dimensional grid can yield interesting, beau- tiful and even familiar patterns. For example, expand- ing circular pillbox shaped kernels on a hexagonal grid, adding when there is overlap, yields patterns includ- ing maximally packed circles and a triquetra-type three petal structure used to represent the trinity in Chris- tianity. Continued expansion yields the flower-of-life used extensively in art and architecture. Additional expansion yields an even more interesting emerging ef- florescence of periodic functions. Example images are given for the case of circular pillbox and circular cone shaped kernels. Using Fourier analysis, fundamental properties of these patterns are analyzed. As a func- tion of expansion, some effloresced functions asymp- totically approach fixed points or limit cycles. Most interesting is the case where the efflorescence never repeats. This article aims to explore the background of the dispute started by Chinua Achebe in his famous essay “An Image of Africa: Racism in Conrad’s Heart of Darkness”. The novel in ques- tion has become the subject of the dispute on whether it is deserving of being considered a great work of art. The reasons behind Achebe’s claim that it is not are the dehumanization of Africans found in various scenes throughout the novel, as well as the depiction of Africa itself as the barbaric and hostile other to civilized Europe. As in any such claim, while some support it, others find it faulty. There are those such as Achebe who would judge Conrad for the same reasons others, such as Bratlinger, Said, Mnthali, or Ngugi Wa Thiong’o, see him as the product of his time. Whenever unfractionated heparin (UFH) is administered i.v. in therapeutic doses, therapeutic drug monitoring of the anticoagulant response should be man datory and the dose should be adjusted accordingly. UFH therapy is usually monitored by the activated partial thromboplastin time (APTT). A 1.5- to 2.5-fold prolonga tion of APTT has become generally accepted as an indi cator of effective i.v. anticoagulation, but it has become common to recommend this ratio without testing the APTT reagents used for their heparin sensitivity and for their actual therapeutic APTT ratio (actual APTT: normal control APTT). Internal heparin sensitivity testing of APTT reagents is managed using heparin sensitivity curves obtained from heparin-spiked normal plasma pool. The most common APTT reagents in Austria and a newly developed double activated APTT reagent were tested for their heparin sensitivity and therapeutic ratios on differ ent automated analyzers, depending on their optical and chemical conditions. Also, newly developed, commer cially prepared heparin standards (0.19, 0.52, 0.86 IU heparin/ml plasma) were tested. APTT reagents differ in their heparin sensitivity and therapeutic ratio; variations in heparin sensitivity are also seen between different an alyzers. Therefore, therapeutic ratio should regularly be checked and the literature should always state which APTT reagent was used on which instrument.

The worldview of peoples is based, first of all, on reli-gious and philosophical views that determine the meaning of life and the man’s relationship to the universe. The characteristic features of Yakut worldview and philosophy of life which have deep historical roots are considered. Relationships, life and folklore of the community were built based on them. Folk art is described as the center of wisdom, knowledge and experience, which has become the key to understanding the characteristics of the northern ethnos, its moral views, attitude to oneself and the surrounding reality. The characteristic fea-tures of the Yakut musical folklore, the specifics of its performance, which determined the complexity of notated fixation in the generally accepted modal system, are considered. The tendencies of preserva-tion and development of the folklore traditions of the people, who consider themselves as part of the surrounding world successively connected with the distant past, are shown.

Abstract:
The first translation (1974) was made into nynorsk by Olav Rytter, who has also translated several other works by Pushkin. The author of the other translation (1992), into bokmål, is Erik Bystad, a recognized literary critic and translator of Shakespeare. The specifically national features of the text present a lot of problems. In the Rytter translation one can trace an attempt to make the text easier to understand by leaving out some of the geographical and personal names. The Bystad translation is often closer to the original text, but less diverse in its rhythmic pattern. Both translations illustrate how difficult it is to find a satisfying solu- tion to the rhymed proverbs or plays on words. Russian standardized modes of address, mention of the tsars or certain historical events, Pushkin's choice of the name for the pretender-all this presents at times unresolvable problems for the translators. The analysis of the two translations not only lets us feel how important and responsible is the role of a translator in transnational cultural commu-nication, but also illustrates some techniques of this magnificent art.

Gudimova, Svetlana. "Music journalism of the first half of the 19 th century about the Russian violin school." Herald of Culturology, no. 2 (2021): 90–103. http://dx.doi.org/10.31249/hoc/2021.02.06.

Abstract:
Since the beginning of the XIX century the Russian press informs its readers about all musical events. Although the authors of the publications were not professionals, the level of reviews and notes amazes with their knowledge of art, especially knowledge of the intricacies of violin playing. This phenomenon can only be explained by the rich auditory experience of journalists. In Russia there was an intense musical life, the most famous virtuosos of that time performed in salons and on stages not only in capitals, but also in provincial cities. By the beginning of the 19th century a strong Russian violin school was formed with an original («vo-cal») interpretation of sound. Its representatives pay much more attention to the quality of sound than foreign virtuosos, who prioritize technical perfec-tion, sometimes to the detriment of even the elementary requirements of musicality. Russian music criticism has never echoed the opinions of Western colleagues; it had its own criteria for evaluating it. She boldly criticized even the violinists-buffooners recognized in Europe and supported the Rus-sian virtuosos, who soon gained worldwide recognition.

Zhilicheva, G. A. "Orphic code and its roles in the metaplots of Post-Symbolist narratives." Sibirskiy filologicheskiy zhurnal, no. 4 (2020): 91–104. http://dx.doi.org/10.17223/18137083/73/6.

Abstract:
The paper deals with the Orphic code of Russian Post-Symbolist prose, discussing the meta-poetical context of the immortal head motif and the plot situations of “a poet’s sacrifice” or “a poet in the underworld.” The Orphic code is viewed as correlating with an author’s reflec-tion of the interplay between the epic and the poetical in a work of prose. In Konstantin Vaginov’s novel The Goat Song, Orphic motifs punctuate the clash between the two narrative instances – the protagonist (a poet) and the narrator. Orpheus, finding himself in the new So-viet world, loses his abilities to change the world with his art, to descend into the underworld, and to charm its goddess. The motif of a failed rescue of Eurydice (i.e., the art) becomes prominent. In Boris Pasternak’s Doctor Zhivago, with the narrator and the lyrical persona having a dialogical relationship, the “Orphic code” provides an essential layer of the novel’s “intertextual palimpsest” (the Silver Age references) and becomes a way of reflecting on the unity of the epic and the lyrical. In Varlam Shalamov’s Kolyma Tales, the metaphor of the underworld becomes dominant, and the Orphic code serves as s a minus-priem, a semantic field that needs to be disavowed. A conclusion is made that the Orphic meta-plot typically in-volves a clash between the perspectives of an artist protagonist and a narrator, reflected both in the diegetic world (the “dying poet” motif) and in the narrative structure (the hybrid nature of the voices of both narrator and the protagonist).

Glardon, Philippe. "Gessner Studies: state of the research and new perspectives on 16th-century studies in natural history." Gesnerus 73, no. 1 (November 6, 2016): 7–28. http://dx.doi.org/10.1163/22977953-07301002.

Abstract:
The field of Gesnerian studies is still to a large extent underdeveloped. This statement sums up in a nutshell the state of research on the body of work of the Zurich physician. Yet, no place for pessimism in this succinct conclusion: in what follows we trace some major tendencies and developments in the study of the Gesnerian corpus. On the whole, it is mostly his illustrations that have drawn scholars’ attention, providing interesting perspectives on art his¬tory and the representation of nature in the 16th century, as well as, through the study of the circulation of images, on the scholarly networks and knowl¬edge communication in the Renaissance. The second part of this article builds on concrete examples to provide possible perspectives on the paratext of Historia animalium, and on the various additions made to it by its author. In conclusion, it appears that numerous aspects of the Renaissance percep¬tion of nature remain unexplored, but also that a reading that makes use of precise lexicological and statistical tools is necessary and promising. This conclusion is positive and seeks to highlight the network established between scholars from different domains of the humanities, and also the technical means available at present, which open new possibilities for comparison, exchange and collating of research information.
