Abstract:
Advances in information technology have led to the proliferation of data in the fields of finance, energy, and economics. Unforeseen elements can cause data to be contaminated by noise and outliers. In this study, a robust online support vector regression algorithm based on a non-convex asymmetric loss function is developed to handle the regression of noisy dynamic data streams. Inspired by pinball loss, a truncated ε-insensitive pinball loss (TIPL) is proposed to solve the problems caused by heavy noise and outliers. A TIPL-based online support vector regression algorithm (TIPOSVR) is constructed under the regularization framework, and the online gradient descent algorithm is implemented to execute it. Experiments are performed using synthetic datasets, UCI datasets, and real datasets. The results of the investigation show that in the majority of cases, the proposed algorithm is comparable, or even superior, to the comparison algorithms in terms of accuracy and robustness on datasets with different types of noise.

Abstract:
There is scarce information about bovine platelet-rich plasma/platelet-rich gel (PRP/PRG) and related hemocomponents (HCs), such as platelet lysates (PLs), including growth factor (GF) and cytokine concentrations, and how the stability of these biomolecules could be affected by time and temperature. This study aimed to evaluate the release and stability of transforming growth factor beta 1 (TGF-β1), interleukin 4 (IL-4), and tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α) contained in bovine pure PRP (P-PRP) and temperature-induced PL (TIPL) coming from a similar platelet concentrate (PC) at 4 and 37°C at 3 and 96 h. Platelet concentrates (PCs) presented a 1.7-fold concentration of platelets (PLTs) with negligible counts of white blood cells (WBCs) when compared to the counts for these cells in whole blood. TGF-β1 concentrations were significantly lowest in plasma followed by TIPL, chemical-induced PL (CIPL), and P-PRP. IL-4 and TNF-α concentrations did not differ between HCs. TGF-β1 concentrations were negatively affected in P-PRPs stored at 4°C at 3 and 96 h, whereas those from P-PRP maintained at 37°C presented similar concentrations to TIPL stored at both temperatures over time. IL-4 and TNF-α concentrations were not affected by time or temperature in any of the HCs evaluated. Pure PRGs released additional quantities of GF and cytokines over time when compared with HCs stored over 96 h at 4 and 37°C. The method, either chemical or physical, used for platelet activation or damage produces a different GF and cytokine release pattern, which makes to each evaluated HCs different despite they come from a similar bovine PC. P-PRP activated with calcium gluconate and maintained at 37°C, which polymerizes in P-PRG, showed the best GF and cytokine release/denature profile compared with the rest of the HCs evaluated.

Abstract:
Abstract Mutations within the signal sequence of cytochrome f (cytf) in Chlamydomonas inhibit thylakoid membrane protein translocation and render cells nonphotosynthetic. Twenty-seven suppressors of the mutant signal sequences were selected for their ability to restore photoautotrophic growth and these describe six nuclear loci named tip1 through 6 for thylakoid insertion protein. The tip mutations restore the translocation of cytf and are not allele specific, as they suppress a number of different cytf signal sequence mutations. Tip5 and 2 may act early in cytf translocation, while Tip1, 3, 4, and 6 are engaged later. The tip mutations have no phenotype in the absence of a signal sequence mutation and there is genetic interaction between tip4, and tip5 suggesting an interaction of their encoded proteins. As there is overlap in the energetic, biochemical and genetic requirements for the translocation of nuclear and chloroplast-encoded thylakoid proteins, the tip mutations likely identify components of a general thylakoid protein translocation apparatus.

Abstract:
A phenomenological interview study on preschool teachers approach to children´s conflicts Our intention was to study six preschool teachers approach to child conflicts in preschool and the strategies they use to deal with conflicts. The aim of the study is to provide knowledge about how the values of the preschool teachers express themselves in the educational environment and how they relate to children's conflicts. The following two inquiries are examined in this study: What strategies does the preschool teacher describe that she applies in different conflict management situations? What values are expressed in the preschool teacher's strategies in conflict between children?                                   This study follows a quantitative method with a phenomenological research approach. It is based on material from interviews with six different preschool teachers who work in the preschool and preschool class. The theoretical starting point for the study is Vygotsky’s sociocultural theory, which proceeds from children learning by social interactions. The result shows that preschool teachers use different strategies depending on the nature of the conflict. It furthermore shows that all preschool teachers perceive children as competent and they emphasise the importance of letting the children be a part of the conflict management. Their experience is that the environment plays a determinant part in children’s interactions. All preschool teachers had a view of children with the purpose of always acting in their best interests. All pointed out the important part the presence of a pedagogue has to get the conflict management to work.

Abstract:

Abstract:

The bovine herpesvirus type 1 (BoVH-1), which causes infectious bovine rhinotracheitis (IBR) / infectious pustular vulvovaginitis (IPV), has major importance as an agent that causes reproductive problems by determining low conception or calving rates causing significant economical losses for the producer. The present study, was carried out in the cattle of three farms (A, B and C), where the embryos transfer is processed (ET), at Prata municipality in Minas Gerais State, aiming to verify the serological conditions of 209 animals before biotechnical processing, to determine immune response to a pre defined vaccination schedule and to analyze the relationship between geometric mean titers (TMG) of antibodies before and after vaccination with the reproductive parameters in embryo recipient heifers vaccinated against BoHV-1. The antibodies titers of BoHV-1 were determined by the virusneutralization test (VN), according to the protocol established by the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) and the reproductive performance was characterized by transrectal ultrasonography examination. Thus, it was verified that the prevalence rates of 39.7% (27/68) in farm A, 27.5% (11/40) in farm B and 36.6% (37/101) in farm C had no statistical difference; this epidemiological situation defined the increase of antibody titers for BoHV-1 in 72.7% (152/209) of the animals by vaccination with a single dose; the greater success of pregnancy (75%) in the first ET was observed in animals that were positive and reached titers higher than 256 after vaccination; in the statistical context, the single dose vaccination had no significative influence in the overall rates of pregnancy

Glutathione peroxidase (GPx; EC 1.11.1.9) is a well-known selenoenzyme that catalyzes the reduction of hydrogen peroxide and some organic hydroperoxides by glutathione (GSH) and protects lipid membranes and other cellular components against oxidative stress, which is related to many diseases and this enzyme is regarded as one of the most important antioxidant enzymes in living organisms. Because the natural GPx has some shortcomings (e.g. instability and poor availability), scientists have paid more attention to its artificial imitation. Synthetic organoselenium and organotellurium compounds have emerged as excellent candidates to act as GPx mimics. Thus, in this study, several aminoacids derivatives containing selenium or tellurium were tested in order to evaluate their in vitro (i) GPx mimic properties (or GPx like activity) according to the model reaction (H202 + 2PhSH → PhSSPh + 2H20); (ii) catalytic properties, (iii) reactivity with low molecular weight thiols (reduced glutathione, captopril and dithiothreitol) and (iv) their effect against lipid peroxidation have been performed. All compounds tested in this study showed ability to imitate de antioxidant enzyme GPx, but this property showed a dependence on the aminoacid residue and steric effect. Compounds C, D and 7g derivatives were found as the best catalysts in reducing peroxides, in comparison with other compounds tested. These results suggest that aminoacids derivatives compounds containing selenium or tellurium used in this work can be considered promising GPx mimetics.

Abstract:
The first chapter of the thesis relieved the dentists from thinking a lot about the produced roughness regardless to the preparation tool. The roughness is a critical factor to the stability, to the retention, and eventually to the success of the ceramic veneers especially for the esthetic anterior veneers. This will speed up the procedure of achieving a fast treatment for the patients with the CAD-CAM systems. For the upcoming steps, an investigation is recommended to estimate the amount of the inquired roughness to achieve the minimum necessary adhesion value for the retention of the ceramic veneers, and vice versa, another investigation to evaluate the capability of the preparation tools in transferring the same roughness from the preparation tool grains to the target surface (dentin or enamel).152The second study had filled the gap of how to evaluate the IOS systems regardless to the recent common criteria, and the thesis created a novel measure (noise) to be used. The study asks the dentists to pay attention to other criteria to consider when buying an IOS system regardless to the criteria that already exists and had been directed by the producing companies. The thesis states that the noise increases when the direction of the IOS is changed. More attention should be paid at the transitional lines between the scanned surfaces while designing the digital model. An enhancement is demanded to compensate for (or if possible, to eliminate) this noise

Abstract:
The present study investigates the effect of orthogonal tip gap film injection from a plain and squealer tip of a HPT first stage rotor blade. The pressure ratio (inlet total pressure to exit static pressure) for the cascade used was 1.2, and the experiments were run in a blow-down test rig with a four-blade stationary linear cascade. The Reynolds number based on cascade exit velocity and axial chord length was 8.61×105 and the inlet and exit Mach numbers were 0.16 and 0.55, respectively. Five holes are located along the camber line of the blade tip. A transient infrared technique was used to measure the local heat transfer coefficient and film effectiveness from a single transient test. All measurements were made for three blowing ratios of 1.0, 1.5, and 2.0. For all the cases, a small tip gap-to-blade span ratio of 0.5% was used. The squealer depth-to-blade span ratio of 4.16% was used for the squealer. Results show that the film injection has some effect for plain tips but has no effect or negligible effect for squealer tips.

Abstract:
The tip leakage flow in turbines is considered to be responsible/or significant machine losses. An efficient reduction of these losses by e. g. squealer cavities at rotor blade tips requires a detailed physical and quantitative understanding of the tip leakage flow. For this purpose, numerical flow simulations are a valuable tool, but they have to be validated by measurements. However, non-intrusive, optical flow measurements in a rotating machine are challenging due to the small tip gap dimensions. Using an optimized optical setup, all three velocity components of the tip gap flow field were resolved while the turbine (1.5 stage low Mach number turbine test rig) was running with 930Hz blade passing frequency at the design point. The measurement results are in good qualitative agreement with numerical flow simulations. The gap flow above the squealer cavity is not homogeneous, but has several flow gradients, which mainly result from the blade tip geometry and the continuity of the flow. Furthermore, the flow structure between two successive rotor blades was resolved yielding the size and shape of the tip leakage vortex downstream at the suction side of the rotor blade in the measurement plane. Consequently, the capabilities of the applied measurement approach opens promising perspectives toward the development of optimum blade tip designs with minimized tip leakage.

Abstract:
One of the key factors ensuring gas turbine engines (GTE) competitiveness is improvement of life, reliability and fuel efficiency. However fuel efficiency improvement and the required increase of turbine inlet gas temperature (T*g) can result in gas turbine engine life reduction because of hot path components structural properties deterioration. Considering circumferential nonuniformity, local gas temperature T*g can reach 2500 K. Under these conditions the largest attention at designing is paid to reliable cooling of turbine vanes and blades. At present in design practice and scientific publications comparatively little attention is paid to detailed study of turbine split rings thermal condition. At the same time the experience of modern GTE operation shows high possibility of defects occurrence in turbine 1st stage split ring. This work objective is to perform conjugate numerical simulation (gas dynamics + heat transfer) of thermal condition for the turbine 1st stage split ring in a modern GTE. This research main task is to determine the split ring thermal condition by defining the conjugate gas dynamics and heat transfer result in ANSYS CFX 13.0 package. The research subject is the turbine 1st stage split ring. The split ring was simulated together with the cavity of cooling air supply from vanes through the case. Besides turbine 1st stage vanes and blades have been simulated. Patterns of total temperature (T*Max = 2000 °C) and pressure and turbulence level at vanes inlet (19.2 %) have been defined based on results of calculating the 1st stage vanes together with the combustor. The obtained results of numerical simulation are well coherent with various experimental studies (measurements of static pressure and temperature in supply cavity, metallography). Based on the obtained performance of the split ring cooling system and its thermal condition, the split ring design has been considerably modified (one supply cavity has been split into separate cavities, the number and arrangement of perforation holes have been changed etc.). All these made it possible to reduce considerably (by 40…50 °C) the split ring temperature comparing with the initial design. The design practice has been added with the methods which make it possible to define thermal condition of GTE turbine components by conjugating gas dynamics and heat transfer problems and this fact will allow to improve the designing level substantially and to consider the influence of different factors on aerodynamics and thermal state of turbine components in an integrated programming and computing suite.

Abstract:
Blade shrouding gives an opportunity to increase the HPT (high pressure turbine) first stage efficiency by 2–3 %. However, if high gas temperature and high circumferential velocity are at the stage, shrouding can be problematic due to load increasing at blade/disk attachment and high temperature of the shroud itself. To make blade/disk attachment more reliable the shroud axial width has to be decreased by increasing a relative pitch of airfoil cascades t (t = t / b, where t – pitch, b – chord) at the blade tip span. According to experience for a flow with β1 = 50 – 85°, M2 = 0.8 – 1, and Re = (0.8 – 1)•106 high efficient cascades with t = 0.93 – 1.05 can be designed. Application of such a profiling for GTE (gas turbine engine) turbine is demonstrated here. In the turbine meridian flow path the blade was drastically tapered to the tip (tip width was 53 % of the mean width and 46 % of the hub width). To lighten the blade a partial shrouding can be also applied. Model turbine tests showed that local cuts at the front shroud area and the aft shroud area at the airfoil pressure side influenced the efficiency weakly. Required shroud temperature is provided with a cooling. The aircraft turbine with a governed cooling system and a radial clearance control is an example here. In this case the shroud had 3 labyrinth ribs. The shrouding decreased radial clearance by 0.8 mm at main design modes that increased efficiency by ∼ 1.5 %. To cool down the shroud the air downstream the compressor was fed into the cavity behind the front labyrinth rib. At maximal mode with full cooling the relative coolant mass flow (to the compressor mass flow) was mc = 1.3 % and gas leakages through the labyrinth were 0.2 %. It gave acceptable mixed temperature of 530°C in the cavity over the shroud. At cruise high altitude mode and a lower gas temperature and partial cooling with mc = 0.4 % and gas leakages of 0.1 % the mixed temperature also did not exceed 530°C over the shroud. The assessment with taking into account changes of the clearance, the coolant mass flow, and gas leakages showed that the shrouding provided the engine economy improvement by 0.7 – 0.9 % for both modes. For GTPU (gas turbine power unit) the first blade shrouding can be more complicated. However, even the slight turbine efficiency increase provides considerable profits due to GTPU huge power output and long term running. So, when GTE and GTPU designing starts, it is reasonable to consider the turbine first blade shrouding. Here the integral evaluation criterion, which includes the assessment of a possible income from the unit full life cycle running, has to be applied.

Abstract:
Gas turbine blades using the so-called squealer tip configuration represent a majority of the high-pressure first stage blades in service. The squealer tip in its most basic format is simply a two-tooth labyrinth seal projecting from the blade tip towards the stationary shroud or casing. As with all blade tip configurations, the geometry is a compromise between aerodynamics, cooling, mechanical stress, durability, and repair. While many proposed blade tip innovations involve more complex geometries, this study seeks to determine if a simpler geometry, other than a flat tip, can provide equivalent aerodynamic performance with a reasonable chance of satisfying all other design factors. Using an annular sector blade cascade, total pressure loss surveys are measured with three blade tip geometries, the standard squealer tip, a single-sided suction side seal strip, and the single-sided strip with a pressure side winglet added. The same cascade is modeled numerically as a periodic passage for each of the geometries tested. Experiment and simulation both utilize all blade tip cooling flow injection locations and nominal magnitudes, as well as a constant tip clearance above the suction side seal strip. Experimental data show that the removal of the pressure side seal strip reduces the area-averaged total pressure loss slightly, while the addition of a winglet returns the performance to the baseline result. Numerical predictions indicate essentially equal performance for all geometries. The numerical results provide insight into the loss mechanisms of both the tip leakage flows and the coolant injection flows. This study, when combined with literature data on heat transfer and cooling, concludes that the simpler single-sided suction seal strip is better overall than the commonly employed squealer tip.

Abstract:
The beneficial effects of the contact between shrouds are described extensively in recent literature: natural blade frequencies are increased and additional damping is available. Different models are proposed for analyzing its linear and nonlinear behavior, selection of optimum contact forces are proposed for reducing vibration amplitudes to a minimum. Results from different non linear analyses that use different models all based generally on a reduced modal model of the blade row and on the harmonic balance approach for modeling the non linear contact forces, are sometimes contradictory: some claim e.g. that increasing excitation amplitude leads to a reduction of the dynamic magnification factor (due to friction damping increase) some other claim the opposite. The contribution to this topic of the present paper is the analysis of the effect of a “contact shim” which can be inserted in a cavity between adjacent shrouds. The shim generates suitable contact forces between the shrouds of the blades of a row, which without shim would vibrate as free standing blades.
