Abstract:
The performance of a high-field asymmetric waveform ion mobility spectrometry (FAIMS) detector is directly related to the quality of the asymmetric waveform generator. In this paper, we propose a design scheme of a multi-mode asymmetric waveform generator based on the half-bridge architecture, using a direct digital synthesizer (DDS) method to produce a frequency adjustable square wave pulse and half-sine pulse signal. An isolation circuit was combined with a drive circuit through a TLP250 which is a MOSFET driver chip with photoelectric isolation. The frequency of the proposed waveform generator can be easily controlled.

Abstract:
Islanding operation in essence connotes isolating part of a power system not unlike distributed generation. This thesis puts forward fuzzy logic controller for inverter fed micro-grid in islanding operations which is assessed using hardware implementation. It’s assisted by power electronics which imparts the control and flexibility essential for the micro grid concept. A correctly designed controller guarantees that the micro grid can meet its utility’s demands. The efficacy and robustness is deliberated in the design of fuzzy system. The testing is performed by employing hardware components namelyATMEGA-328microcontroller, TLP250 opto-coupler and a MOSFET circuit. The test results demonstrate very good consistency and show noteworthy implications of the control of micro grid using inverters and fuzzy controllers.

Abstract:
Campylobacter jejuni is a bacterial pathogen that is a common cause of enteritis in humans. We identified a previously uncharacterized type of sensory domain in the periplasmic region of the C. jejuni chemoreceptor Tlp10, termed the DAHL domain, that is predicted to have a bimodular helical architecture. Through two independent ligand-binding sites in this domain, Tlp10 responded to molecular aspartate, isoleucine, fumarate, malate, fucose, and mannose as attractants and to arginine, galactose, and thiamine as repellents. Tlp10 also recognized glycan ligands when present as terminal and intermediate residues of complex structures, such as the fucosylated human ganglioside GM1 and Lewisa antigen. A tlp10 mutant strain lacking the ligand-binding sites was attenuated in its ability to colonize avian caeca and to adhere to cultured human intestinal cells, indicating the potential involvement of the DAHL domain in host colonization and disease. The Tlp10 intracellular signaling domain interacted with the scaffolding proteins CheV and CheW, which couple chemoreceptors to intracellular signaling machinery, and with the signaling domains of other chemoreceptors, suggesting a key role for Tlp10 in signal transduction and incorporation into sensory arrays. We identified the DAHL domain in other bacterial signal transduction proteins, including the essential virulence induction protein VirA from the plant pathogen Agrobacterium tumefaciens. Together, these results suggest a potential link between Tlp10 and C. jejuni virulence.

FEZ panda III works on .net micro framework and all its programming, debugging features are available through Microsoft’s Visual studio whereas Arduino features are available through Arduino software. Inverters are used in various applications like in motor drives and solar and wind power applications. This paper is commenced by basic understanding of need of gate driver circuit for inverter and different types of PWM techniques for generating gate signals for inverter. Simulation of SPWM inverter in both open loop and closed loop operation is done and its respective gate voltage waveforms are studied and later hardware implementation of gate driver circuit using TLP250H IC is carried out and gate voltages at different duty cycles is studied with the help of FEZ Panda III and Arduino boards.

Abstract:
TPS4153 Background: The development of new potent therapeutic is strongly called for treating pancreatic cancer. Dendritic cells (DCs) are a type of antigen-presenting cells that play an important role in adaptive immune system, and this property has prompted their recent application to therapeutic cancer vaccines. DCs loaded with tumor antigen ex vivo and administered as a cellular vaccine have been found to induce therapeutic anti-tumor immunity. Wilms' tumor gene WT1 is expressed in various kinds of cancers including pancreatic cancer. In pilot clinical trials of DC vaccination loaded with WT1 peptides for patients with advanced pancreatic cancer, induction of anti-tumor WT1 specific immune responses and tumor regressions have been observed (Kimura et al, Pancreas, 2012 / Kobayashi et al, Cancer Immunol Immunother, 2014 / Mayanagi et al Cancer Sci, 2015). TLP0-001 is activated Dendritic cells loaded with epitope peptides derived from WT-1. Methods: This is an investigator initiated, phaseIII, multicenter, double-blind, randomized trial of TLP0-001+S-1 versus placebo+S-1 for the patients with locally advanced or metastatic pancreatic cancer refractory to standard chemotherapy. Patients are allocated to either DC vaccine (TLP0-001) + S-1 group or placebo + S-1 in 1:1 ratio by dynamic allocation method. The primary endpoint is overall survival. Sample size is estimated presuming the effects will be observed from the time point of 50% cumulative survival rate. Assuming a type I error alpha (two-sided) level of 5% and a power of 80% or more for hazard ratio 0.644, sample size necessary is estimated as 174 patients. When the first 6 patients are administerd TLP0-001, the independent Data Monitoring Commitee checks safety data to assess continuation of the study. Enrollment begins in March 2017.

Abstract:
The ability to swim and navigate the surrounding environment confers an advantage to motile bacteria, allowing the occupation of niches that are optimum for survival and growth. Bacteria are too small to sense their environment spatially, so they must sense the environment temporally by comparing the past and present environments and altering their motility accordingly. Chemotaxis systems coordinate flagellar motility responses with temporal sensing of the environment. Chemotaxis is proposed to be involved in plant root colonization by directing soil bacteria toward root exudates of various cereals, promoting growth. The nitrogen-fixing alpha-proteobacterium Azospirillum brasilense utilizes chemotaxis to navigate its environment by integrating various environmental signals into a chemotaxis signal transduction pathway. In chemotaxis, transducers receive environmental sensory information and transmit the signal to the histidine kinase CheA, which relays the signal to the response regulator CheY. A novel chemotaxis transducer, Tlp1, has been identified and characterized as an energy sensor by constructing a tlp1 mutant and performing behavioral and root colonization assays. In order to adapt to changing environmental conditions, chemotactic microorganisms must employ a molecular “memory” comparing present environmental conditions to ones previously experienced and resetting the chemotaxis transducer to a prestimulatory status. A recently identified chemotaxis operon revealed a methyltransferase CheR and methylesterase CheB, comprising an adaptation system, suggesting that A. brasilense undergoes methylation-dependent taxis responses, contrary to previous reports. Chemotaxis and methanol release assays suggest that adaptation by methylation in locomotor behavior involves the presence of other unknown methylation systems, and the contribution of CheR and CheB to chemotactic and aerotactic responses is complex. There is growing evidence that chemotaxis-like signal transduction pathways control a myriad of other cellular processes regulated in a temporal fashion. This would convey an advantage to cells by allowing modulation of cellular processes based on slight changes in environmental conditions and provide checkpoints for energetically consuming processes. Mutations in components of the chemotaxis-like signal transduction system revealed differences in cell size and exopolysaccharide production. This work shows that the signal transduction pathway of A. brasilense modulates cell length in response to changes in nutrient conditions, independently of growth rate.
