Abstract:
Abstract Replicated grade samples were taken from runner, Spanish, and virginia-type farmers stock peanut lots. Each sample was graded according to the procedures of the Federal State Inspection Service. The variability of % foreign material (%FM) and % loose shelled kernels (%LSK) associated with a 1800-g sample was measured. The variability of % sound mature kernels (%SMK), % sound splits (%SS), % other kernels (%OK), % damage (%DAM), and % extra large kernels (%ELK) associated with a 500-g sample was also measured. The variance was shown to be a function of the magnitude of the grade determination and was described by a relationship derived from binomial theory. From the measured grade factors, the support price per gross ton was calculated for each grade sample using the 1988 USDA loan schedule. The variance of the price per gross ton was also estimated and appeared to be independent of the price per gross ton. The coefficients of variation averaged across all lots tested were 21.1, 18.7, 2.6, 21.2, 14.0, 55.3, 7.8, and 2.4% for %FM, %LSK, %SMK, %SS, %OK, %DAM, %ELK, and price per gross ton, respectively. The computed price per gross ton of a farmers lot that has a true value of $600 was estimated to vary from $573 to $627 95% of the time when using the 500 and 1800 g grade sample to measure each grade factor.

Abstract:
With the oil field developing, the water cut increased, gradually and the efficiency of injection-production reduced year by year. Since the water flooding of Lamadian Oilfield entered extra high water cut period, the distribution of flow flied become more and more complex. The distribution of remaining oil and ineffective circulation is complex. The existing of ineffective circulation led to the flooding efficiency reducing sharply and cost of crude oil per ton by water flooding increased. In order to control production energy consumption in the extra high water cut, the method of improving the efficiency of Injection-production is studied in the Lamadian oilfield. Through the analysis of injection-production status, the factors that influence the injection efficiency is studied. The distribution of ineffective circulation which seriously affects the efficiency of Injection-production is made clearly. According to the factors that influence the efficiency of injection-production, based on flow field characteristics of water flooding, the countermeasure to enhance efficiency of injection-production is put forward in order to reduce the energy consumption and cost of producing crude oil.

Abstract:
The results of the research on the assessment of the effectiveness of the application of biological fertilizer Humistim and micronutrient fertilizers MicroFeed Complex and MicroFeed Extra Phosphorus in the cultivation of spring wheat under the conditions of Kursk Region are presented. As a result of the research, it was found that the preparations (Humistim, MicroFeed Complex and MicroFeed Extra Phosphorus) contributed to the better growth and development of spring wheat, reduced the development of leaf-stem diseases, increased the yield and quality of spring wheat grain. Thus, when treating seeds (5 l/t) and crops in the tillering phase and early booting (5 l/ha) with Humistim fertilizer, the development of septoria was 16.4 %, biological efficiency was 36.4 %, the yield of spring wheat increased by 0.55 t/ha, gluten content in the grain by 2.1%, compared with the control variant. When using micronutrient fertilizers MicroFeed Complex and MicroFeed Extra Phosphorus at a rate of 1.5 l/t for seed treatment and 1.5 l/ha for crop treatment in the tillering phase and early booting the biological efficiency was slightly lower and amounted to -32.6-33.7 %, the yield of spring wheat increased by 0.52-0.53 t/ha, the gluten content in the grain by 1.7-1.9 %. Calculations of economic efficiency showed that the treatment of seeds and crops of spring wheat with the biological fertilizer Humistim increased direct production costs by 825 rubl./ha, but due to the increase in yield, the cost of gross production increased by 6,600 rubl./ha, conditional net income by 5,775 rubl./ha, the cost of 1 ton of grain decreased by 511.55 rubles. The efficiency of using fertilizers with micronutrients MicroFeed Complex and MicroFeed Extra Phosphorus with similar methods of application was slightly lower: the value of conditional net income was 27,693.31-30,255.31 rubl./ha. MicroFeed Extra Phosphorus fertilizer provided a minimum increase in conditional net income 2,940 rubles/ha, which is due to its higher cost.

Abstract:
The application of electrical platform for converter station in offshore wind farm is highly forward-looking and strategic. The offshore electrical platform is complicated in structure, bulky in volume, and expensive in cost. In addition, the built-in electrical equipment is very sensitive to the acceleration response. Therefore, it is very important to study the hydrodynamic response of the electrical platform exposed in the open sea. Based on the elastic similarity, Froude similarity, as well as the flexural-stiffness similarity of the cross-section, the hydroelastic similarity was derived to guide the model test of a 10,000-ton offshore electrical platform in wind, wave, and current. The hydrodynamic responses including strain and acceleration at key positions of the structure were obtained for different incident angles of external environmental loads. The experimental results showed the increase of water depth can cause more than 10 times increase of strain and acceleration response of the platform. The attack angle of external environmental loads had no definite relationship with strain response of the structure. Therefore, the most dangerous attack angle cannot be determined. The strain of the structure under the combined action of wind, wave, and flow was significantly larger than that under wave load only.

Abstract:
This article reviews the 10,000-metric-ton Russian nuclear submarine Kursk, with two nuclear reactors and 20 missiles aboard, had gone down in August 2000 following a pair of explosions approximately two minutes apart. Explosions had left the bow so deformed it was impossible to attach lifting devices, and there were serious doubts about the structural integrity of what remained. At Roslyakovo, the 21-tonne Giant was lifted clear of the water by two auxiliary pontoons. The pontoons, 100 meters long with a 15-meter beam, were sunk below the barge, winched into position beneath it, and then pumped out in order to raise the Giant-Kursk combination. This extra lift, in addition to deballasting of the drydock, provided the clearance the strand jacks needed to lower the sub on the stocks. Once the Kursk was positioned, the Giant 4 released its load and was withdrawn from the drydock.

Ulugh Beg Astronomical Institute (UBAI) of the Uzbek Academy of Sciences is one of the oldest scientific institutions not only in Uzbekistan, but in the whole of Central Asia as well. There are five departments in the institute. The main directions of research are solar physics, young non-stationary and close binary stars in star formation regions, satellite geodynamics, non-linear and non-stationary evolution of galaxies. Helioseismology studies carried out in the frame of the IRIS (International Research on the Interior of the Sun) and TON (Taiwan Oscillation Network) projects. Astrophysical programmes such as a search for periodicity in star-formation regions, study of close binary stars in the same regions, as well as in open clusters, CCD photometry of extra-galactic objects as gravitation lenses have been made at the Maidanak Observatory, which is located in the south-east of Uzbekistan. Monitoring of the seeing at Mt. Maidanak from 1996 to 1999, using ESO Differential Image Motion Monitor, showed that its atmospheric conditions are comparable with the best international observatories. The present status of the main fields of research and prospects are discussed. (Co-author is Shurat A. Ehgamberdiev, Uzbekistan.)

Abstract:
Offshore wind power is gradually developing to more open sea. Considering the economy of power transmission, it will be an inevitable choice to adopt the extra-large electrical platform. The offshore electrical platform is easily affected by sudden extreme loads such as earthquake and high current loads. With a large volume of electrical equipment arranged on the deck, the offshore electrical platform is characterized as a top-heavy structure in the offshore wind farm. The dynamic effect of the structure will aggravate the vibration problem of the structure. In this paper, a physical model test was carried out to study the dynamic characteristics of the electrical platform of a 10,000-ton offshore converter station under seismic load. The acceleration response, displacement response and stress response of the offshore electrical platform under the typical direction of seismic action were obtained. The effect of the dry–wet environment, mode of seismic excitation, whipping effect and weak positions of electrical platform structure were analyzed. It was determined that the average damping ratio of the first-order mode of the electrical platform was 5.73% and 8.68% with and without water, respectively. The bidirectional seismic excitation was more dangerous to the structure than unidirectional excitation. The peak acceleration along the height of the platform showed a typical whipping effect.

Abstract:
This paper presents a hypothetical and comparative performance of a 5 ton air conditioner (AC) operating in two zones in different urban microclimates for 25 days. One site represents a type of homogeneous planned urbanism and the other is a traditional heterogeneous zone. Air temperature data was collected and then processed using a linear regression model included in the operating manual of the AC in order to obtain their energy consumption. Results indicate that for an area with 500 homes, a traditional urban complex requires 12,350 kWh of electrical energy more than a planned zone (1.89%). This extra energy amounts up to $1180 and adds 9191 kg of CO2 to the atmosphere. The increased energy consumption has implications that increase the cost and environmental aspects of two urban microclimates, so that urbanization without planning is less friendly to the environment. In this sense, this study highlights the effects of urban microclimates on domestic electricity consumption from air conditioning. In addition, for a city with an arid desert climate, the variation in electricity consumption is associated with changes in the urban mosaic. The results found represent scientific evidence that can be used as a reference to establish public policies that could be incorporated into the local construction regulations, oriented to reduce the energy consumption associated with the use of air conditioning equipment.

Abstract:
Acinetobacter baumannii is a bacterium responsible for community-acquired infections, especially in tropical areas and among soldiers during warfare. However, community reservoirs of this bacterium are not very well known. The aim of this work was to study these reservoirs in a topical area, Reunion Island, by analyzing at the same time the animal (carriage), the environmental, and the human reservoirs. Studies were also performed in a temperate zone (metropolitan France), by analyzing carriage of companion animals. First, identification of species belonging to the Acinetobacter calcoaceticus - Acinetobacter baumannii complex by mass spectrometry has been improved on the VitekÒ MS automated system. In asecond part of the study, a high prevalence of A. baumannii carriage has been observed in domesticated animals of La Reunion Island (6,5 and 8,5%). A lower prevalence has been detected in metropolitan companion animals (2,7%). Within allthe reservoirs studied, a great diversity of strains isolated has been shown by Multi-Locus Sequence Typing analysis, with the dicovery of new Sequence Types. At last, 2 strains producing OXA-23 and OXA-24 have been isolated respectively in carriage in a patient and in a livestock animal of La Reunion Island, and 2 strains producing OXA-23 have been isolated in metropolitan companion animals. This work has permitted to do some interesting observations on the community epidemiology of A. baumannii. Other studies are needed to better understandrelationships between the different community reservoirs, and also with the hospital reservoir

Abstract:

Abstract:
Identification of fungi is based on macroscopic observations of morphology and microscopic characteristics. These conventional methods are time-consuming and requires expert knowledge. For the past years Matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization-time of flight mass spectrometry has been used for routine bacterial identification in clinical laboratories but not yet in the same extension for fungi. In this study three preanalytic preparation methods for fungi were evaluated in order to shorten the processing time in routine laboratory performance. Clinically relevant strains (n=18) of molds and dermatophytes were cultivated on agar plates and prepared according to the different preparation methods for protein extraction. Each strain was analyzed in quadruplicate by the MALDI Biotyper and the database Filamentous Fungi Library 1.0. The results showed that the genus and species identification rates of the least time-consuming direct extraction method were 33% and 11% respectively. Using the formic acid extraction method, the genus and species identification rates were 83% and 44%, respectively. For the longest sample preparation method, liquid media culturing before formic acid extraction, successfully identified all strains except one, which resulted in an identification rate of 94% and 78% respectively. This study shows that preparing samples in cultured liquid media MADLI-TOF MS effectively identified fungal strains to both genus- and species-level. This method was however too time-consuming and cumbersome to be recommended as a replacement to the conventional method. Future studies should be aimed at expanding the reference library and making the direct extraction method more reproducible in terms of obtaining more reliable identification rates.

Several technological advances during recent years provided that the Electronic Health Record systems (EHR) became a solidified and viable alternative to replace progres-sively and efficiently, the use of health records on paper. The benefits found are associated with the use of methods for clinical decision support (CDS), data availability, ease in finding information, among other advantages inherent in computerized systems use. However, there are still many challenges and research to get the full potential of such systems. For example, the amounts of clinical data for EHR storage are very high. Several interests might benefit if there was a tool capable of performing an automated analysis, or more commonly found, semi-automated, useful for search patterns in the data set stored in the system. Several studies indicate that efforts in the field of machine learning achieve great results in various areas including clinical information. However, the effort required is still high, increasing the time spent with planning and processing, with high costs and large amounts of data needed for processing. This work, in association with the OpenCTI's CDS seeks to significantly reduce the amount of effort necessary to promote both the reuse of clin-ical information from the automatic learning, and the development of mechanisms for clini-cal decision support with low cost. This study seeks to offer those benefits to users of EHR systems, through a simple mechanism, but extensive, for analysis of clinical data stored in clinical databases. This anal-ysis is performed using a methodology of knowledge extraction algorithms using collective intelligence or data mining, through steps of search, selection, preprocessing, modeling, evaluation and application of the information extracted from these systems. From this, me-chanisms for clinical decision support of EHR, may use the framework offered by CollectMed to promote with greater ease and precision, more accurate information regarding specific medical conditions on their patients, according to what has already been registered by health professionals in similar cases using the EHR.

Abstract:

Abstract:
The various articles which make up this book concern both modelling (numerical and analytical) and experimental activities in relation to aspects of environmental fluid dynamics. Issues dealt with include the dispersion of pollutants in both urban and extra-urban areas, the effect of obstacles on the flow and dispersion in the turbulent boundary layer, and the simulation of the planetary boundary layer in proximity with the earth's surface. There is also a discussion of advanced issues which are also of interest in the sphere of urban planning, such as "wind comfort" and the effects of the shelter belt.

Abstract:
Wave particles move in circles, and for steep waves they also move with a drift in the wave direction. This drift can be found by second order Stokes theory. In this document it is questioned if Stokes’ theory gives reliable drift on the free surface, or if an extra term should be introduced in the equations. The CFD program COMFLOW is used to show that classic Stokes theory may be insufficient for calculating drift on the free surface.

Ostashev, Vladimir, Michael Muhlestein, and D. Wilson. Extra-wide-angle parabolic equations in motionless and moving media. Engineer Research and Development Center (U.S.), September 2021. http://dx.doi.org/10.21079/11681/42043.

Full text
Abstract:
Wide-angle parabolic equations (WAPEs) play an important role in physics. They are derived by an expansion of a square-root pseudo-differential operator in one-way wave equations, and then solved by finite-difference techniques. In the present paper, a different approach is suggested. The starting point is an extra-wide-angle parabolic equation (EWAPE) valid for small variations of the refractive index of a medium. This equation is written in an integral form, solved by a perturbation technique, and transformed to the spectral domain. The resulting split-step spectral algorithm for the EWAPE accounts for the propagation angles up to 90° with respect to the nominal direction. This EWAPE is also generalized to large variations in the refractive index. It is shown that WAPEs known in the literature are particular cases of the two EWAPEs. This provides an alternative derivation of the WAPEs, enables a better understanding of the underlying physics and ranges of their applicability, and opens an opportunity for innovative algorithms. Sound propagation in both motionless and moving media is considered. The split-step spectral algorithm is particularly useful in the latter case since complicated partial derivatives of the sound pressure and medium velocity reduce to wave vectors (essentially, propagation angles) in the spectral domain.

Boesten, Jan. Violence and Democracy in Colombia The Conviviality of Citizenship Defects in Colombia’s Nation-State. Maria Sibylla Merian International Centre for Advanced Studies in the Humanities and Social Sciences Conviviality-Inequality in Latin America, 2021. http://dx.doi.org/10.46877/boesten.2021.33.

Full text
Abstract:
This essay aims to utilize the concept of conviviality for connecting the coexistence of seemingly contradictory phenomena in Colombia. It argues that while conviviality implies a normative content – a society in which members do not slaughter each other is better than one in which members resort to violence – the meekness of that normative claim suggests that it is better used as an analytical tool that seeks to connect the contradictions that coexist in the real lifeworld. Colombia’s history of violence and democracy is such a contradictory case. Comparativists have situated Colombia’s deficits on the “extra-institutional playing field”, lamenting that it is a “besieged” or “threatened democracy”. Conviviality helps us to specify these “extra-institutional” defects by suggesting impediments exogenous and endogenous to the state-building logic of the Colombian nation-state.

Full text
Abstract:
A high proportion of out-of-school children across the world live in conflict-affected contexts. To remove barriers to education for marginalised girls in those contexts, a key challenge is to understand the multiple and intersecting forms of marginalisation and their changing dynamics during violent conflict. Research from the REALISE education project in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) identifies key considerations for education programmes for marginalised girls in conflict areas, such as inclusive education for girls and boys, links between education and peace-building, and extra-curricular activities to support social relationships.
