Abstract:
The Torajan language is the heritage language of the Torajan people, which reflects the local wisdom and identity of the people. Yet, with the popularity of Indonesian and English as the lingua franca, there is a concern for the domain, status, and vitality of the Torajan language within the society. Therefore, this study aims to study the visibility of the language. This study offers a novel approach by looking at the use of the Torajan language in the linguistic landscape in two regencies, Tana Toraja and Toraja Utara, to determine its position in the community. The research utilized a case study design, and the source of data is linguistic landscapes found along Jalan Poros Rantepao–Makale which connects the two regencies. The images of linguistic landscapes were collected by viewing the Google Street View facility provided by Google Maps, and the languages in those linguistic landscapes were noted. The findings show that Indonesian and English dominate the linguistic landscape in Tana Toraja and Toraja Utara, and the Torajan language is minimally represented in the public space of these two regencies. The lack of visibility of the language in the public space might be caused by the restricted use of the language for familial talks at home and oral indigenous rituals. However, the Torajan language needs to be used more frequently in public spaces since it could promote a positive attitude of the people, which would in turn solidify the position of the language in the society.

This research concluded that the community of Tana Toraja combined their death ritual from both Christianity and Rambu Solo’ basis, making it an inevitably distinguished ritual practise. Considering the traditions’ divergent values, the discussion suggests multiple identity belongings in the local Indonesian context.

Abstract:
Indonesian is a multicultural plural society. Therefore, almost every ethnic group in Indonesia has varied tradition and culture, especially in responding to the phenomenon of obsequies through unique ceremonies and symbols. The research aims to examine how people in several ethnic groups responded to the death event through traditional ceremonies represented by literary works, especially short stories in the 2014-2017 Kompas Selections. Samples to be used in this study are the short story "In the Body of the Tarra, in the Womb of the Tree" by Faisal Oddang in 2014, the short story "Linuwih Aroma Jarik Baru" by Anggun Prameswari in 2015, and the short story "Kasur Tanah" by Muna Masyari in 2017. Results research shows that the three short stories elevate and interpret the tradition of obsequies in Javanese, Madura, and Toraja cultures. In Javanese society, kawung batik is a symbol of man's separation from the natural world. In Madurese society, Sortana is a "gift" of human separation from the social environment. In Toraja society, the tradition of passiliran becomes a symbol of the reuniting of humans with nature as the original.

Abstract:
Purpose Mental health should be getting more attention, as mental health problems are increasing and they pose a significant health burden. Government plays an important role in supporting the implementation of mental health program. The purpose of this paper is to overview the implementation of mental health programs in North Toraja Regency, South Sulawesi Province, Indonesia. Design/methodology/approach This paper presents an audit conducted to examine the practice of mental health staff delivering mental health programs in community centers in one sub-district area in Indonesia and describes key areas of work, including promotive, preventative, curative and rehabilitation intervention. Responds from the respondents then was compared to guidelines for mental health practice in community based on Mental Health Law No. 18 (2014). The respondents were all mental health program staff (26 staff) from all community health centers (26 Puskesmas) in the North Toraja region, South Sulawesi (each Puskesmas has one staff responsible for mental health program). Findings This study explored programs and services provided for community mental health programs and roles of health staff in implementing programs and delivering services in one rural area. Although most health staff had provided mental health services according to the government guidelines, this study did not identify what the staff actually did in performing this work. Health staff cannot work alone in providing healthcare services, thus support from other sectors and from government is needed to deliver more effective healthcare to people with mental health disorders in the community. For further study, qualitative design is needed to explore more about the actual practice of the mental health staff in Puskesmas. Originality/value There is no published information regarding this topic in Indonesia to date. This information is really important for the government to evaluate the implementation of mental health program in Indonesia. However, these findings may only apply in this area, thus cannot be generalized for other regions in Indonesia, even if similar condition occurs in other areas.

Abstract:
The issue of licensing agreements to improve the standard of living of people in Indonesia is very interesting to be studied in depth via intellectual discussions. Various problems should be taken as lessons for Indonesian people, for example: registration of the Toraja coffee trademark by the American businessmen, sambal uleg from Central Java and Gayo coffee by the Dutch and the song Sayang Sayange from Maluku and the legend of Garlic and Onion by Malaysia. The purpose of writing this article is to provide an explanation of the necessity to strengthen understanding of trademark law in the license agreement as an effort to improve the economic level of the Indonesian people. The problems focus on the government actions against the violations of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) and as well as the roles of the government and society to improve the economic level of society through strengthening trademark law in license agreements. The research was conducted by using a normative legal research. The result of the research described in this article is that the economic level of the community can be increased by conducting a franchise business, providing opportunities for the franchisor to exploit economic rights in order to multiply and get the maximum profit at a low cost because it is borne by the franchisee. Keywords: Trademark, License Agreement, Economic Strata

Abstract:
From the history of Islamic conquest to various parts of the world, Indonesia was one of the countries that was visited on the journey and the struggle to spread the monotheistic religion. With the entry of Islam into Indonesia, there was an encounter with all forms of Middle Eastern / Arabic culture, especially Islam with the archipelago, and naturally the encounter experienced acculturation with the culture in Indonesia. Indonesia as a country also has its own indigenous culture. Portraits of indigenous Indonesian culture can now be found in inland-inland areas such as the Tengger people found on Sukapura on the slopes of Mount Bromo near Tasar Malang, Samin communities in Blora, Central Java, Baduwi communities in southern Banten, Kubu communities in southern Sumatra and Jambi, Baliage communities in Tenganan Pegringsing Karang Asem in Bali, and the Toraja community in Central Sulawesi, the Dayak tribe consisting of Oloot, Olonaju, and Manyansiyung in the interior of Borneo, and the Asmat tribe in Irian Jaya. All of them still hold the original culture with several forms such as animism, dynamism, veteism, and shammanism. The arrival of Islam to Indonesia in the First Century H / VII-VIII M resulted in this nation experiencing cultural acculturation between Middle Eastern culture and Indonesian culture. The evidence of acculturation can be felt in several aspects, including language, literature, arts and education.

Abstract:
In Toraja, Indonesia and England folktales bring important impact to the community. In Indonesia, a folktale is used as a medium of entertainment as well as a teaching tool for children. These folktales are told by grandparents, mother, father, or uncles to their children or grandchildren with the aims to educate, tell the histories, and give the information about the origin of the names and places. This study aims to understand how the similarity and differences between the main characters in Torajanese and English folktales. Furthermore, the research also studies how the traditional representation of women in Indonesia and English folktales. This study uses a qualitative method that refers more to narrative. With regard to data, this research, which is an area of literary study, refers to narrative events in a story that contain events that are described by words, phrases, sentences, and involve characters and settings. Based on the results of our research, we argue that many female characters in Eastern Indonesian folktales and English folktales are subject to objectification. The objectification of female figures is carried out in the form of women as objects of sexuality, women as a medium of exchange of power, and women being passive and working in the domestic sphere. This finding shows that the folktale of Eastern Indonesia cannot be separated from patriarchal ideology. These stories show that women in the imagination of the Indonesian people still occupy an inferior position compared to men. Furthermore, the female characters also experience objectification and inequality as in folktales from Western Indonesia.

Abstract:
Various ornaments of Indonesia come from ethnic groups from all over the archipelago. As a tangible culture, ornament has specific purpose and does not change throughout the ages. Tana Toraja is one ethnic group in the archipelago that has beautiful decorative art and one of the most popular tourism destinations in Indonesia. Toraja’s ornament generally is seen as decorative carving on the column of Tongkonan (Toraja traditional house), window, or even in barn doors. The beauty of Tana Toraja is not only as an inspiration for its colors and sculptures but also the variety of forms that has been simplified in the ornament. Moreover, the geometric forms are easy to apply as interior element in modern buildings. Generally, the value of these ornaments has a specific purpose related to the cultural and social custom of the Toraja people. Hence, the application needs to consider about the purpose of the symbol of the ornament.

Abstract:
Tongkonan is a style of vernacular architecture famous in Toraja, a mountainous region in Sulawesi, Indonesia. The Tongkonan traditional house is a symbol of the Toraja people, representing the ancestors and the entire cosmos of life – from birth to death. The houses and their arrangement within a settlement form a social and cultural space that gathers the extended family of the Tongkonan. This article explores the landscape of Tongkonan architecture and coffee cultivation, showing how Tongkonan is essential to Toraja's cultural landscape and a foundation of Toraja coffee culture. The study draws together literature reviews, interviews, photographic and video observation, as well as photo-elicitation interviews. The research reveals that although the existence of Tongkonan architecture precedes the introduction of coffee cultivation, the Tongkonan's geographical closeness to the coffee farms, the historic economic importance of coffee, and the social and cultural relevance of Tongkonan creates a cultural landscape entangling Tongkonan settlements and forests, coffee farms and coffee culture activities. Tongkonan and coffee form Toraja's unique cultural landscape. The space of the Tongkonan, which includes coffee community activities, serves as a basis of Toraja coffee culture.

Abstract:
This study aims to analyze the position of Tong konan land as part of the Tana Toraja Indigenous Peoples and analyze the Tongkonan land management system. The research method used is empirical juridical sourced from primary data and secondary data by being analyzed qualitatively descriptively. The results of this study show that the status of Tongkonan land ownership in Toraja is not comprehensive due to the need for an approach based on local wisdom values so that Toraja customary law communities can carry out all economic, social, and cultural activities on Tongkonan land and there is also a new legal relationship between customary law communities and Tongkonan land and The loss of legal relations between the two sides caused by the loss of communal value of the tongkonan land . Indonesia, a country with a rich cultural tapestry, is not immune to the challenges posed by cultural conflicts. These conflicts are often rooted in historical tensions between tribes and religions, which continue to manifest in the form of respect, mutual respect, and the acceptance of differences. A solution is required to cultivate an attitude of religious moderation as a way of life in order to maintain harmony by upholding the pillars of justice, balance and tolerance. These pillars were initiated by Quriash Shihab using qualitative methods. It was found that the pillar of religious moderation has relevance to the traditions of the Tana Toraja people in the Rambu Solo event. The funeral tradition of Rambu Solo teaches about unity and social balance between people in ceremonial traditions, justice between followers of one religion and tolerance between adherents of Christianity as the majority and Islam as a minority religion.

Abstract:
The aim of this research was to use the Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) to analyze the frequency of notes produced by the traditional Te'dek flute of the Toraja people in South Sulawesi, Indonesia. The purpose of the study was to contribute to the preservation of the Toraja's cultural history by providing an evaluation of the Te'dek flute's tonal characteristics. The research process included recording the sound of the flute, applying the FFT to the recorded data to extract frequency values, and analyzing these values to determine the frequency of each note within an octave. What sets the Te'dek flute apart is its unique tuning process, where the maker skillfully adjusts the fingerholes' diameter using hand tools and relies on intuition to determine the sound without any external measurement. The results of the study showed that the FFT can be used to accurately determine the frequency of the Te'dek flute and that the strength of airflow in the flute's cavity plays a significant role in determining the frequency of the tone.

Title: Study of Toba and Toraja Batak Architectural Forms as a Result of Collective Austronesian Memory The archipelago (Indonesia) that we live in today is the distribution of the Austronesian people who lived in riverine areas in South China and North Vietnam in the mid-4th BC. Cultural development in an area results from a mixture of internal and external things. The mixing of culture and art by early settlers and new settlers resulted in diverse architectural forms, even though they share the same principles of traditional values (Austronesian collective memory). Toba and Toraja Batak architecture is hollow architecture with a similar roof shape that resembles the shape of a boat, a typology of houses and barns facing each other, and a housing complex oriented to form a particular axis. Fallow the nature makes it vernacular have always been the highest principles of vernacular architecture. This research uses Toraja traditional residence houses ( Tongkonan ) and the rice barn (alang-alang)in Tana Toraja of Sulawesi, Indonesia. Through this, we attempt to understand how vernacular architecture effectively controls the indoor environment in the high-temperature, high humidity environment to achieve comfortableness with local materials attained and construction methods. By using thermo recorder equipment to recording and measuring the microclimate record for the residence house and the rice barn. After investigation, comparison and analysis of temperature and relative humidity we discover that the interior environment is more comfortable for human residence in the Tongkonan; at the same time the rice barn is presented as the best storage space for their rice and crops. Both types of buildings create a most habitable environment for people and storage space for grains. It also proves that natural material is an efficient resource for local community as sustainable matter.

Abstract:
This article describes the supremacy of Christ, a theological foundation built by Paul in Colossians 1:15-19 which became the basis of teaching for believers in Colossae who were growing in faith in Christ. Various false teachings shake the congregation's faith, affecting their belief in Christ. The presence of Paul's letter is an answer to the problems faced. Inspired by Paul's efforts to counter the influence of heresy in the Colossian church, the author explains the theological foundation of the supremacy of Christ in this paper. What was built by Paul is also a solid basis to counter the influence of animism, which still animates Christian believers in living life as a Toraja tribal community. Paul's theological foundation can also be a solid foundation for the existence of other local churches in Indonesia, which are often confronted with the animism that local people in Indonesia have lived.

Abstract:
Abstract One type of livestock that is widely cultivated by some people is pigs, especially local pigs. Pigs are popular animals and are widely cultivated for needs related to socio-culture, traditional ceremonies, religious ceremonies, weddings and other ceremonies by certain community people’s in Indonesia. Indonesia has germplasm of five local pig species from eight types of pig species in the world. The pigs species lives and develops in several main areas, namely in Sumatra, Kalimantan, East Nusa Tenggara, Sulawesi and Papua. Local pig species in Indonesia include Nias pig, Toba pig, Samosir pig, Bali pig, Toraja pig and Papua pig. Currently, local pigs are facing the threat of extinction, due to low productivity so that people tend to keep imported pigs with better productivity. In addition, the threat of epidemics, poaching and the absence of real preservation and conservation measures from the government have also contributed to the decline in the local pig population in Indonesia. Conservation actions that can be taken include: 1) Establish areas for cultivation and development of local pigs in districts/cities; (2) Maintaining the existence and use of public grazing land for local pig farming; and (3) Develop and increase the productivity of local pigs. In local pigs that have been raised by the community, conservation is carried out by selecting within the clump so that purity is maintained and conservation through efforts to improve the management of local pigs.

Abstract:
The socio-technical architecture of constructing a community's traditional house is a zine-qua-non at the locus of developing tourism destinations in several areas worldwide. A socio-technical system is an old approach that is realigned with developing integrated tourism components, especially various tourist attractions based on local cultural treasures. The results of this qualitative research with a phenomenological approach analyze and explain the noumena (meaning) behind the phenomena (facts) regarding socio-technical architecture based on Tongkonan traditional houses in Tana Toraja, Indonesia. The study results found that architectural works are full of symbolic meaning in constructing Tongkonan traditional houses. The crystallization of basic values and value orientation as the noumena (meaning) behind the socio-technical architectural phenomenon of the Tongkonan traditional house that stands upright is because five pillars support it as a representation of 5A (Attractions, Accessibility, Accommodation, Amenity, Ansilarity) as a component of tourism development. The Tongkonan roof model, which at first glance looks like a person praying by raising their hands up or to God, the Creator of the universe, is proof of the basic values and orientation of the socio-cultural and spiritual values of the Toraja people. The image of a rooster, sun, and arrangement of horns mounted on the Tongkonan wall proves the rich treasures of local socio-cultural life (local wisdom, local genius) of the local community as a result of creativity and innovation that sustainably has value.

Abstract:
This study aims to find out and analyze the urgency of the Indigenous Peoples Bill in terms of the Toruakat Indigenous People's conflict in North Sulawesi. The method used in this study is a normative juridical method, with secondary data sources as the primary data, and then the collected data is analyzed qualitatively. After conducting research, it was found that the conflict occurred between the Indigenous Peoples of Touakat and PT. Bulawan Daya Lestari, in Bolaang Mongondow, North Sulawesi, resulted in the death of one indigenous person and the injury of four other indigenous people, arguably revealing that the Government cannot be present to protect indigenous peoples. The protection, fulfilment, and recognition of indigenous peoples should be related to the substance of human rights contained in the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia. This means that the existence of confirmation in the Constitution is not only limited to recognizing the constitutional rights of indigenous peoples but also must guarantee the fulfilment of the rights of indigenous peoples. -the constitutional rights. The occurrence of the conflict can ultimately show that there is an urgency for the Indigenous Peoples Bill.

Abstract:
AbstractNiches at the walls of edge of Lae (river) Tungtung Batu have been known by the local people as “the golden box”. The naming, without sufficient scientific proofs, refers to its profane function as storage of valuable items. The question is: is the object of a profane or sacred function? A theory proposes that a megalithic structure that was built for the worship of ancestors, either as a tomb or supplementary worship, supported by a comparative study of similar findings in different areas with the same cultural background, results in different interpretations of the functions of the niches that were previously connoted to a storage for valuable things now are of a burial reason. Similar objects found in Samosir, Deli Serdang, Karo and Tana Toraja are currently interpreted as sarcophagus. The niches in Tuntung Batu share similar characteristics of sarcophagus with those in other areas in North Sumatra and Indonesia. It is contextually supported with the presence of other objects in Tuntung Batu such as pertulanen and mejan that are related with burial and stones of tunggul nikuta candi and perisang manuk and the statue of pangulubalang that is of a mystical purpose to give the people protection.

Abstract:
This article offers a reconstruction of social theology in Christianity as a theological response to human rights violations in Indonesia. Human rights are universal and fundamental in humanity issues that can be a locus for Christians to do theology. For this reason, any forms of human rights violation are not just a violation of law and social orders but also theological issues that require an earnest response from religious people, including Christians. Therefore, the reconstruction of social theology in this writing will be using the biblical study method of the Torah and its role in the ancient Israelites’ context and a critical analysis of the concept of Christian presence. In these two interrelated methods, the author wants to define the Christianity values, which indicate theological positions towards human rights violations in Indonesia, and point out the Christians’ characteristics that present faith works and the integrity of life. This writing then consists of three parts. The first part explains the concept of human rights and a portrait of human rights violations in Indonesia. Second is the Torah’s proper hermeneutics and role in the ancient Israelites. Third, at last, a critical analysis of the concept of Christian presence as the embodiment of faith concerning human rights violations. The Christian presence in the human rights issues, especially in human rights violations, is not only a social responsibility as Christians before God but also a tangible manifestation of faith in the context of Indonesia. Therefore, the author argues that it is essential for Christians to develop their sensitivity and actively respond to human rights violations.
