Abstract:
In the framework of the H2020 INDIGO-DataCloud project, we have implemented an advanced solution for the automatic deployment of digital data repositories based on Invenio, the digital library framework developed by CERN. Exploiting cutting-edge technologies, such as Docker and Apache Mesos, and standard specifications to describe application architectures such as TOSCA, we are able to provide a service that simplifies the process of creating and managing repositories of various digital assets using cloud resources. An Invenio-based repository consists of a set of services (e.g. database, message queue, cache, workers and frontend) that need to be properly installed, configured and linked together. These operations, along with the provisioning of the resources and their monitoring and maintenance, can be challenging for individual researchers or small-to-moderate-sized research groups. To this purpose, the INDIGO-DataCloud platform provides advanced features for orchestrating the deployment of complex virtual infrastructures on distributed cloud environments: it is able to provision the required resources automatically over heterogeneous and/or hybrid cloud infrastructures and to configure them automatically ensuring dynamic elasticity and resilience. This approach has been successfully adapted to support the needs of the researchers and scholars in the domain of the Digital Arts and Humanities.

Abstract:
LBA1 Background: Since 2004, 6 months (m) of oxaliplatin (oxali)-based treatment has been the standard of care as adjuvant therapy for stage III CC. Since oxali is associated with cumulative neurotoxicity, shorter duration of adjuv therapy could spare pts toxicity and lead to substantial saving in health expenditures. Methods: A prospective, pre-planned pooled analysis of 6 concurrently conducted randomized phase III trials (SCOT, TOSCA, Alliance/SWOG 80702, IDEA France (GERCOR/PRODIGE), ACHIEVE, HORG) was performed to evaluate the non-inferiority (NI) of 3m compared with 6m (ref) of adjuv FOLFOX/XELOX. The primary endpoint was disease-free survival (DFS), defined as time from enrolment to relapse, 2nd CRC, and death (all causes). NI was to be declared if the 2-sided 95% confidence interval (CI) for DFS hazard ratio (HR 3m v 6m) estimated by a stratified Cox model was below 1.12. NI was examined within regimen and stage subgroups as pre-planned. Results: The analysis included 12,834 pts from 12 countries, accrued from 6/07 to 12/15. Stage distribution: 13% T1-2, 66% T3, 21% T4; 28% N2; 40% received XELOX. G3+ neurotoxicity was higher in the 6m v 3m arm (16 v 3% FOLFOX, 9 v 3% XELOX, p<0.0001). With a median follow-up of 39 mos, 3263 DFS events were observed. Overall, the 3 year DFS rate was 74.6% (3m) and 75.5% (6m), with estimated DFS HR of 1.07 (95%CI, 1.00-1.15). The 3m v 6m DFS HRs were 1.16 (95%CI, 1.06-1.26) and 0.95 (95% CI, 0.85-1.06) for FOLFOX and XELOX treated pts, respectively. The 3m v 6m DFS HRs were 1.01 (95%CI, 0.90-1.12) in T1-3 N1, and 1.12 (95%CI, 1.03-1.23) for T4 or N2 pts. Conclusions: While NI was not established for the overall cohort, NI of 3m v 6m oxali-based adjuv therapy was supported for XELOX. As each IDEA trial treated varying proportions of pts with XELOX (0 to 75%), the regimen interaction likely produced the differential outcomes observed between individual studies. Certain substages (T1-3 N1) also showed NI for 3m v 6m. These data provide a framework for discussions on risks and benefits of individualized adjuv therapy approaches. This study aims to explore and analyze the TOSA (Test of Standard Arabic) questions as an instrument to measure the Arabic language competence of students at IAIN Surakarta. This research uses a qualitative approach. The results of the study showed: 1) TOSA was prepared using an integrative, communicative and pragmatic approach; 2) TOSA is a type of standard test used to measure the Arabic language competency testee, not the testee's mastery of the material that has been taught; 3) TOSA competency standard refers to CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Language) according to its part, so fahmu al-masmu 'is equivalent to A1-C1 CEFR, fahmu at-tarakib al-lughawiyyah is equivalent to A1-B2 CEFR, and fahmu al-maqru' is equivalent to A1-C1 CEFR.

Abstract:
Abstract. Carboniferous siliciclastic and silicic magmatic rocks from the Santa Susana–São Cristovão and Cabrela regions contain valuable information regarding the timing of synorogenic processes in SW Iberia. In this region of the Ossa-Morena Zone (OMZ), late Carboniferous terrigenous strata (i.e., the Santa Susana Formation) unconformably overlie early Carboniferous marine siliciclastic deposits alternating with volcanic rocks (i.e., the Toca da Moura volcano-sedimentary complex). Lying below this intra-Carboniferous unconformity, the Toca da Moura volcano-sedimentary complex is intruded and overlain by the Baleizão porphyry. Original sensitive high-resolution ion microprobe (SHRIMP) and laser ablation inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (LA-ICP-MS) U–Pb zircon are presented in this paper, providing chronostratigraphic and provenance constraints since available geochronological information is scarce and only biostratigraphic ages are currently available for the Santa Susana–São Cristovão region. Our findings and the currently available detrital zircon ages from Paleozoic terranes of SW Iberia (Pulo do Lobo Zone – PLZ – South Portuguese Zone – SPZ – and OMZ) were jointly analyzed using the K–S test and multidimensional scaling (MDS) diagrams to investigate provenance. The marine deposition is constrained to the age range of ca. 335–331 Ma (Visean) by new U–Pb data for silicic tuffs from the Toca da Moura and Cabrela volcano-sedimentary complexes. The Baleizão porphyry, intrusive in the Toca da Moura volcano-sedimentary complex, yielded a crystallization age of ca. 318 Ma (Bashkirian), providing the minimum age for the overlying intra-Carboniferous unconformity. A comparison of detrital zircon populations from siliciclastic rocks of the Cabrela and Toca de Moura volcano-sedimentary complexes of the OMZ suggests that they are derived from distinct sources more closely associated with the SPZ and PLZ than the OMZ. Above the intra-Carboniferous unconformity, the Santa Susana Formation is the result of the recycling of distinct sources located either on the Laurussian side (SPZ and PLZ) or Gondwanan side (OMZ) of the Rheic suture zone. The best estimate of the crystallization age of a granite cobble which was found in a conglomerate from the Santa Susana Formation yielded ca. 303 Ma (Kasimovian–Gzhelian), representing the maximum depositional age for the terrestrial strata. The intra-Carboniferous unconformity seems to represent a stratigraphic gap of approximately 12–14 Myr, providing evidence of the rapid post-accretion and collision uplift of the Variscan orogenic belt in SW Iberia (i.e., the OMZ, PLZ, and SPZ).

Abstract:
The success of Lutathera™ ([177Lu]Lu-DOTA-TATE) in the NETTER-1 clinical trial as a peptide receptor radionuclide therapy (PRRT) for somatostatin receptor expressing (SSTR) neuroendocrine tumours (NET) is likely to increase the demand for patient stratification by positron emission tomography (PET). The current gold standard of gallium-68 radiolabelled somatostatin analogues (e.g., [68Ga]Ga-DOTA-TATE) works effectively, but access is constrained by the limited availability and scalability of gallium-68 radiopharmaceutical production. The aim of this review is three-fold: firstly, we discuss the peptide library design, biological evaluation and clinical translation of [18F]fluoroethyltriazole-βAG-TOCA ([18F]FET-βAG-TOCA), our fluorine-18 radiolabelled octreotide; secondly, to exemplify the potential of the 2-[18F]fluoroethylazide prosthetic group and copper-catalysed azide-alkyne cycloaddition (CuAAC) chemistry in accessing good manufacturing practice (GMP) compatible radiopharmaceuticals; thirdly, we aim to illustrate a framework for the translation of similarly radiolabelled peptides, in which in vivo pharmacokinetics drives candidate selection, supported by robust radiochemistry methodology and a route to GMP production. It is hoped that this review will continue to inspire the development and translation of fluorine-18 radiolabelled peptides into clinical studies for the benefit of patients.

Abstract:

 Abstract

The work presented here is caracterized by a exploratory study over ecovillages, related to their practices and to a possible analitical interpretation based on the sustainability subject. It had as a main objective the development of a analitical framework to the sustainability of ecovillages in brazilian context. Thus, this study had been based in a theorical-conceptual reserch and in a case study – Ecoovila 1 – located in Porto Alegre, Brazil. The sustainability framework was constructed from the contribuitions of discussions about sustainable development (Ignacy Sachs), about solidarity economy (França Filho e Santana Júnior) and about the ecovillages practices (Jackson e Svenson), forming a synthesis-frame. As result, it was noticed that the studied experience dos not fit, presently, in all dimensions of sustainability as proposed in the framework. It represents, however, a significative case to the comprehension of the theme under discussion.

Abstract:
Numerous scholars have adopted a Gramscian framework when analyzing the Zapatistas and Subcommander Marcos. Some, however, have gone beyond the evidence, claiming that Marcos was influenced by Gramsci. Inspection of the Subcommander’s discourse provides no proof that he has been directly influenced by the Sardinian; instead, indigenous thought and practice appear more influential in having shaped Marcos’s political philosophy. Marcos’s independence from Gramsci distances him from other contemporary Central American guerrillas and has wider implications concerning the timing and extent of Gramsci’s diffusion in Mexico. Gramsci did, however, contribute to an atmosphere of “antiauthoritarian eclecticism” among the Latin American new left from which Marcos emerged.

Abstract:
In recent decades, modeling approaches of ecosystem services (ES) have been used extensively at the international level, providing useful tools during the decision-making process by integrating both physical and economic information, thus improving its management. The relationship between supply and demand may impact social welfare: for example, a deficit in ES could negatively influence demand (either potential or effective). For this reason, the relational study between supply and demand is necessary for the sustainable management of natural resources; particularly since the demand for some ES must be fulfilled not only on a local scale but also globally (as in the case of regulatory ES). This paper proposes an ES analysis framework that links the flow of services (supply) generated by the interaction between natural, human and social capital with consumption (demand) connected to potential beneficiaries. Specifically, we analyze three ES: Forage production, regulation of local climate (PM10), and carbon sequestration in three national parks (Aspromonte National Park, Circeo National Park, and Appennino Tosco Emiliano National Park). The use of synthetic (biophysical) indicators, on a spatial basis, made it possible to quantify the supply and demand of specific catchments with the aim of accounting for the surplus/deficit through the calculation of the ES supply and demand ratio (ESDR). In fact, sustainable land management requires a balance between supply and demand in relation to the different needs of the stakeholders and local community. The relationship between supply and demand of ES can help identify resource use trade-offs, thus rendering the achievement of management and protection objectives more efficient. Lastly, through the use of monetary coefficients, it was possible to calculate the benefits of increasing the awareness of public decision-makers of ES’s value and the importance of implementing integrated strategies for environmental protection and enhancement.

Senowbari-Daryan, B., and G. D. Stanley. "Taxonomic affinities and paleogeography of Stromatomorpha californica Smith, a distinctive Upper Triassic reef-adapted demosponge." Journal of Paleontology 83, no. 5 (2009): 783–93. http://dx.doi.org/10.1666/08-146.1.

Full text
Abstract:
Stromatomorpha californica Smith is a massive, calcified, tropical to subtropical organism of the Late Triassic that produced small biostromes and contributed in building some reefs. It comes from the displaced terranes of Cordilleran North America (Eastern Klamath terrane, Alexander terrane, and Wrangellia). This shallow-water organism formed small laminar masses and sometimes patch reefs. It was first referred to the order Spongiomorphidae but was considered to be a coral. Other affinities that have been proposed include hydrozoan, stomatoporoid, sclerosponge, and chambered sponge. Part of the problem was diagenesis that resulted in dissolution of the siliceous spicules and/or replaced them with calcite. Well-preserved dendroclone spicules found during study of newly discovered specimens necessitate an assignment of Stromatomorpha californica to the demosponge order Orchocladina Rauff. Restudy of examples from the Northern Calcareous Alps extends the distribution of this species to the Tethys, where it was an important secondary framework builder in Upper Triassic (Norian-Rhaetian) reef complexes. Revisions of Stromatomorpha californica produce much wider pantropical distribution, mirroring paleogeographic patterns revealed for other tropical Triassic taxa. Review of Liassic material from the Jurassic of Morocco, previously assigned to Stromatomorpha californica Smith var. columnaris Le Maitre, cannot be sustained. Species previously included in Stromatomorpha are: S. stylifera Frech (type species, Rhaetian), S. actinostromoides Boiko (Norian), S. californica Smith (Norian), S. concescui Balters (Ladinian-Carnian), S. pamirica Boiko (Norian), S. rhaetica Kühn (Rhaetian), S. stromatoporoides Frech, and S. tenuiramosa Boiko (Norian). Stromatomorpha rhaetica Kühn described from the Rhaetian of Vorarlberg, Austria shows no major difference from S. californica. An example described as S. oncescui Balters from the Ladinian-Carnian of the Rarau Mountains, Romania, is very similar to S. californica in exhibiting similar spicule types. However, because of the greater distance between individual pillars, horizontal layers, and the older age, S. oncescui is retained as a separate species. The net-like and regular skeleton of Spongiomorpha sanpozanensis Yabe and Sugiyama, from the Upper Triassic of Sambosan (Tosa, Japan), suggests a closer alliance with Stromatomorpha, and this taxon possibly could be the same as S. californica.

Abstract:
Aprendizagem. Autoritarismo. AbstractThe concept and perspective of interdisciplinarity in the content of History textbooks lead us to reflect on how school subjects relate to one another in the interdisciplinary aspect of their teaching and learning practices. Thus, the objective of this research is to analyze some interdisciplinary concepts for teaching and learning. Therefore, it is intended to compare some concepts of interdisciplinarity and its use in the classroom based on proposals taken from the History textbook content concerning to Brazilian Military Government. For this purpose, we will use as theoretical framework Thiesen (2007) and his propositions about interdisciplinarity. Methodologically, it is a descriptive-interpretative study of qualitative nature. With regard specifically to the teaching of history, we observed that the treatment of the Brazilian dictatorial regime could use reflections produced in other fields of knowledge, such as the studies of political science and sociology. Thus, the theme in focus would be interview from different biases, making the teaching of history productive and meaningful. The almost nonexistence of interdisciplinarity in basic education is the result of an academic logic based on the positivist tradition that compartmentalized knowledge in disciplines, specializing the sciences and, thus, fragmenting knowledge. Abstract:
AbstractThe growth in the number and types of cloud-based services offered to IT customers is supported by the constant entry of new actors in the market and the consolidation of disruptive technologies such as AI, Big Data and Micro-services. From the customer’s perspective, in a market landscape where the cloud offer is highly diversified due to the presence of multiple competing service providers, picking the service that best accommodate their specific needs is a critical challenge. Once the choice is made, so called “cloud orchestration tools” (orchestrators) are required to take care of the customer application’s life-cycle. While big players offer their customers proprietary orchestrators, in the literature quite a number of open-source initiatives have launched multi-cloud orchestrators capable of transparently managing applications on top of the most representative cloud platforms. In this paper, we propose TORCH, a TOSCA-based framework for the deployment and orchestration of cloud applications, both classical and containerised, on multiple cloud providers. The framework assists the cloud customer in defining application requirements by using standard specification models. Unlike other multi-cloud orchestrators, adopts a strategy that separates the provisioning workflow from the actual invocation of proprietary cloud services API. The main benefit is the possibility to add support to any cloud platforms at a very low implementation cost. In the paper, we present a prototypal implementation of TORCH and showcase its interaction with two different container-based cluster platforms. Preliminary performance tests conducted on a small-scale test-bed confirm the potential of TORCH.

Abstract:
As a teacher and technology coach I have experienced firsthand the wonder of students playing and constructing video games, as games facilitate incredibly good learning experiences (Egenfeldt-Nielsen, Smith, & Tosca, 2012; Papert, 1980; Salen, 2007; Shaffer, 2006; Squire, 2006, 2011). Student based game construction has the potential to transform the learner and further meet the participatory demands of 21st century learning. This paper will provide teacherlibrarians with a detailed account of my own experiences with video game construction in school environments. As a guiding framework, both Miller, Shell, Khandaker and Soh’s (2010) input-process-outcome game cycle and Koehler and Mishra’s (2008; 2009) Technological, Pedagogical and Content Knowledge (TPACK) framework will be applied to support this video game construction exploration.

Abstract:
A popular cryptographic option to implement Hierarchical Access Control in organizations is to combine a key assignment scheme with a symmetric encryption scheme. In brief, key assignment associates with each object in the hierarchy a unique symmetric key, and provides all higher-ranked “authorized” subjects with a method to recover it. This setup allows for encrypting the payloads associated with the objects so that they can be accessed by the authorized and remain inaccessible for the unauthorized. Both key assignment and symmetric encryption have been researched for roughly four decades now, and a plethora of efficient constructions have been the result. Surprisingly, a treatment of the joint primitive (key assignment combined with encryption, as used in practice) in the framework of provable security was conducted only very recently, leading to a publication in ToSC 2018(4). We first carefully revisit this publication. We then argue that there are actually two standard use cases for the combined primitive, which also require individual treatment. We correspondingly propose a fresh set of security models and provably secure constructions for each of them. Perhaps surprisingly, the two constructions call for different symmetric encryption primitives: While standard AEAD is the right tool for the one, we identify a less common tool called Encryptment as best fitting the other.

The constituted disposition of ICT in our society leads us to integrate them into a holistic diagram called «technological habitat». We think this perspective contributes to overcoming misleading dichotomys and it permits to place the learning in a complex context interwoven with tensions between opposite poles (the technological and the natural, the material and the symbolic, the common and the scientific, etc.). The interactions in that environment generate new cognitive strategies and a cultural standar which agree with the means used, inviting to think about new pedagogies too. The invigorating core of that habitat is the powerful technical system which impregnates it and cohesions with a legitimate speech of the trainings carried cut by means of technology. Beyond this historic circumstance, we should know how to articulate the school cohabitation in the habitat we have to live in, and to promote a knowledge in context engaged with the critic analysis of the technological framework of present society.SOMMAIRE: Le caractère constitutif des TIC dans notre société nous amène à l'intégration d'un scheme holistique que nous appelons «habitat technologique».

Gerenciamento. Logística Reversa. Resíduos Sólidos. Responsabilidade Compartilhada. ABSTRACT: This study arose from the perception of the critical situation we are living concerning the lack of public awareness regarding environmental pollution. Although we are in the 21st century, very little has been developed to mitigate, or eradicate environmental pollution. Given the importance of the state's role in this matter, this study sought to determine how the state perceives and works with environmental education in relation to solid waste, in particular, how public policies are taking effect and what appropriate actions have been taken by the state. To attain this goal, the study followed a qualitative approach with the use of secondary, bibliographic and documentary data. Considering the article 225, section VI of the 1988 Federal Constitution, Law nº. 9.795/99 which addresses environmental education, and the decree nº. 4.281/02, which regulates the aforementioned law, the law nº. 12.305/10 was analyzed. It establishes the National Solid Waste Policy, specifically regarding responsibility and guidelines for integrated management and solid waste management. It was found that after the Federal Constitution of 1988, Brazil has presented a good constitutional framework for environmental protection. However, it was also found that it is essential that the established rules are applied effectively and that public officials take stronger attitudes to enforce the society’s responsibility concerning the environmental problems, thus allowing future generations to enjoy a better quality of life.
