Abstract:
This study examines the potential of religious facilities to enhance urban tourism by evaluating urban traditional temples as cultural tourism resources and identifying key tourism indicators. An evaluation framework was developed, encompassing five attributes—historicity, accessibility, inter-connectivity, convenience, and publicity—each with three sub-factors. The research question focuses on what factors distinguish successful urban traditional temples like Bongeunsa and Jogyesa from others. Seven traditional temples in Seoul were selected for comparison. Bongeunsa and Jogyesa, functioning as major tourist attractions, were compared with five other temples with potential but fewer visitors. The findings indicate that Bongeunsa and Jogyesa scored higher for all of the attraction attributes and the majority of the sub-factors. Differences in the correlation between each factor and visitor numbers were also observed. The research methodology included literature reviews, deriving cultural tourism attributes, and evaluating selected temples. This approach highlights underdeveloped factors in other urban temples and suggests strategies for enhancement, providing valuable insights for urban tourism policy and development.

Abstract:
In the first hundred years of the UK railway, the seaside figures as a nerve centre, managing and making visible the period’s complex interplay between health, death, gender and sexuality. The monograph discusses around 130 novels to show how the seaside infiltrates a diverse range of literature, subverting the boundaries between high and low literary culture. The seaside holiday galvanises innovative literary forms, including early 20th century holiday crime and romance fiction, which has its origins in the sensational strategies of mid-19th century authors. Where reading takes place is at least as important as what is read, and case studies on literary Brighton and the Kentish Dickens Country explore the occasionally fraught relationship between seaside towns and the metropolis, as London visitors are represented in – and are the target audience for – literary accounts of the seaside holiday. The act of reading by the sea is itself overdetermined and problematic, a dilemma that is managed in part through the development of text-free literary tourism in the late 19th century. Deploying strategies from literary criticism, histories of reading, libraries and the book, and literary tourism, the monograph recovers ‘seaside reading’ as both a literary sub-genre and a deeply contested mode of engagement.

Abstract:
Nature-based tourism (NBT) is one of the most rapidly growing segments of the global service economic space. However, as its success and sustainability are dependent largely on human mobility, NBT is susceptible to economic disruptions triggered by the advent of unprecedented hazardous global phenomena. Literary evidence has revealed that certain strategies, such as strict health protocols and guidelines for tourism reactivation, have been implemented by tourist destinations to sustain tourism activities amid disastrous pandemics and epidemics. Health-related and general safety issues have been at the helm of policy and decision making in tourism-related initiatives to enhance the image of ideal tourist destinations. Such events, particularly the COVID-19 pandemic that introduced stringent regulations, have caused the tourism industry and its sub-sets to be completely transformed from being ‘normal sectoral environments characterized by optimistic economic prospects’ to ‘new normal environments characterized by uncertain economic prospects’. According to the business theory, the success of an enterprise is determined by assumptions relating to its environment, the accomplishment of its mission, its service competency, and the utilisation of resources that enable the achievement of its mission. The social exchange theory proposes interactions that create commitment and an enabling environment to build strong relationships under certain conditions. This is applicable to the tourist industry as tourists travel to destinations that adapt to unprecedented conditions on a par with evolving environmental demands.

Abstract:
The South Asia Sub-regional Arrangement (SASA) aims to promote trade and tourism in landlocked South Asian nations, fostering interpersonal connections and economic growth. The Act East Policy and SASA have stimulated connectivity development, SEZ creation, and economic corridor development in three geographically isolated Indian states, enhancing tourism infrastructure. The SASEC initiative aids in trade and tourism growth in geographically isolated regions, suggesting that countries with trade facilitation advantages can effectively boost tourism. Bangladesh's unique trade balance, both positive with Tripura and negative with India, may encourage future bilateral relations, especially with Tripura. The test results show a surge in foreign tourist arrivals, typically leading to the growth of Tripura's net state domestic product and per capita income. The study explores the link between trade facilitation initiatives and tourism promotion in Tripura and suggests strategies for their implementation.

Abstract:
This chapter examines overtourism challenges in African destinations, where rising tourism demand pressures natural and cultural resources, infrastructure, and communities. Using case studies from North, East, and Sub-Saharan Africa, it identifies key drivers and highlights sustainable logistics strategies. Tailored approaches include community-based tourism (CBT) in Zanzibar, empowering locals to manage tourism sustainably; eco-friendly infrastructure, like Cape Town's electric buses, reducing emissions and congestion; and real-time visitor management systems in Kenya's Maasai Mara, regulating peak-season traffic to protect ecosystems. The findings stress the importance of stakeholder collaboration, digital technologies, and resilient infrastructure in creating balanced tourism frameworks. By adopting these strategies, African destinations can promote economic growth while preserving cultural heritage and environmental integrity, positioning themselves as leaders in sustainable tourism.

Abstract:
Customers of utility service providers in developing economies face frequent interruptions in service delivery by service providers. Customers experience power outages, disconnecting customers from service without recourse to prompt reconnection, billing discrepancies etc. are among the problems encountered by customers of utility service providers. Customers on the other hand resort to open confrontation, non-refusal to pay bills and other mechanisms to register their displeasure towards the utility service providers. A key tool available to utility service providers to ensure customer satisfaction and that customers' concerns are adequately addressed is the effective application of service recovery strategies. How effectively can the application of service recovery strategies influence the level of customer satisfaction? The current study is among the few studies in sub-Saharan Africa that investigate service recovery as an antecedent to customer satisfaction in today's digital space. Details of the outcome are discussed in the chapter.

Abstract:
Figure 4.1 illustrates the major management functions to which stakeholder theory and management strategies can be applied. In fact, stakeholders can influence, and be influenced by, ALL aspects of planned events, so this is merely a starting point. Subsequent sub-sections with diagrams look more closely at each of these functional areas and how they influence planned events. From the theoretical discussions presented so far in this book it should be clear that stakeholders are to be considered an integral part of event management and event tourism, not an isolated issue to be considered once in a while. This suggests that external stakeholder relations be a management function on its own, or tied to a position called something like ‘External Relations’. For internal stakeholders a different approach might be required, as each manager within the organization is going to have specific stakeholder issues to deal with on a continuous basis. Bringing these issues into one integrated approach will be the responsibility of the executive. This chapter also brings other theoretical perspectives to bear on stakeholder management. For example, starting with organizing and planning, we identify five themes for special consideration, each being informed by other theories. Strategies and projects links with institutional theory (e.g., how to become a permanent institution) and project networks including the political market square. Accordingly, these discussions provide a launching point integrating many theoretical perspectives on management.

Attaining the ambitious, transformative visions and goals of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development requires a radical departure from business as usual in designing and implementing strategies, policies and action plans. An innovative approach is needed more than ever in the social policy sector since new and significant challenges and risks have, albeit at different speeds, started to raise questions on the validity of existing policy tools. Climate change poses some of the greatest economic, social, and sometimes political challenges of the twenty-first century. Global carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions will accelerate climate change and threaten the lives and well-being of present and future generations and the planet itself. Climate change causes significant negative consequences in terms of production, particularly in the sectors of agriculture, coastal resources, energy, forestry, water and tourism, which are major industries of many developing countries. Inequality has increased in almost all countries since the 1980s, which marks the end of a postwar egalitarian regime. The level of inequality in terms of income accounted for by the nation’s top 10 per cent earners is particularly high (more than 50 per cent of national income) in many developing countries in Central and Latin America, the Middle East, Southeast Asia and sub-Saharan Africa, and India. The latest estimates hint at the COVID-19 crisis further reinforcing these trends, not only in terms of financial inequalities, but even regarding gender, formal and informal workers, and marginalized racial and ethnic groups, among others. Extreme poverty remains entrenched in many parts of the world.

Abstract:
This paper wishes to study the visitors' outlook & evaluation of a tourist place as experienced by them. We have selected Bishnupur in West Bengal, India as our sample sight. Our study reveals that opinion about Bishnupur as a tourist destination is negatively related with the problems & positively with the advantages. Socio economic factors such as occupation, caste as well as sub situational variables such as number of visits, reason for visit are important. In all Bishnupur is not a very attractive place as a tourist center even within the state. Given that Bishnupur has a long cultural history as well as cited in the official tourist website, the issue is alarming. The Government has started a number of initiatives (such a Bishnupur mela, renovation of the temple structure of Bishnupur & so on) to facilitated the place & make it attractive to the tourists. Our analysis show that there is a lot yet to done to bring up Bishnupur in the tourist center of the state, not to speak the Indian perspective.

Abstract:
Ecotourism is a sub-component of sustainable tourism that involves a visit to a natural area and manages the living parts of the natural environment. Moreover, ecotourism’s perceived potential as an effective tool for sustainable development, including economic development and conservation strategies. Currently, the importance of ecotourism service quality is gaining tremendous attention due to the growing demand for ecotourism worldwide and increasing expectations from visitors. A challenge remains in identifying how natural resource and nature-based tourism providers can best achieve those benefits and increase the visitor’s satisfaction levels, while at the same time minimising the effects of degradation to the natural resource being used. Hence, the main purpose of this study is to assess the ecotourism services quality at Kuala Tahan National Park. This study will adopt the ECOSERV instrument to measure visitor’s expectations and perceptions of service quality. This study was conducted using a quantitative approach by obtaining responses from 153 tourists. Based on service quality provided at Kuala Tahan National Park, visitor’s were satisfied with the services provided there. The data collected was analysed using descriptive statistics and Multiple Regression Analysis to achieve the objectives of the study. This study also finds the responsiveness, empathy, and assurance have a significant relationship with service quality at Kuala Tahan National Park. However, they have an unsignificant relation between ecotangibles, tangible and reliability with tourist’s satisfaction. The finding of this study is important for ecotourism activity at Kuala Tahan National Park and for government be able to promote ecotourism product as the main attraction in Malaysia.

Abstract:
The purpose of this study is to examine the movements of capital markets in Austria (ATX), Serbia (BELEX 15), Hungary (BUX), Croatia (CROBEX), Russia (IMOEX), the Czech Republic (PRAGUE PX), Slovenia (SBI TOP), and Poland (WIG) from September 18th, 2017 to September 15th, 2022. To obtain more robust results, we divide the sample into two sub-periods: the Quiet period, from September 18th, 2017, to December 31st, 2019; and the Stress Period, from January 1st, 2020, to September 15th, 2022, marked by the global pandemic (COVID-19), the oil price war in 2020, and the Russian invasion in 2022. The time series exhibit non-normal distributions due to the presence of fat tails, a characteristic that is common in periods of extreme volatility. The results of the VAR Granger Causality/Block Exogeneity Wald Tests model verified the existence of 16 pairs of markets showing co-movements between them during the quiet subperiod. The market that causes more co-movements is the Austrian stock market (ATX), while the Russian stock index (IMOEX) does not cause shocks in the markets under analysis. In the Stress subperiod, we verify the presence of 42 pairs of markets causing (each other in the Grangerian sense. The stock indexes ATX, BUX, CROBEX, and PRAGUE PX show 6 causal relations in 7 possible, while the capital markets of Russia (IMOEX) and Poland are the ones that cause less (4 in 7 possible). In conclusion, we verify that the events that occurred in 2020 and 2022 have significantly increased the movements in these regional markets. Such findings could put into question the implementation of efficient portfolio diversification strategies and eventually some gains above the market average due to arbitrage levels. The authors consider this evidence to be relevant for supervisors, regulators, and investors operating in these regional markets.

Abstract:
Purpose – to reveal the scientific approach to the regional policy in the field of research, use and increase the recreational potential of the regions of Ukraine, creating an effective mechanism for the development of the recreational system of the region due to an in-depth study of the recreational system potential, the quality of the recreational environment and highlighting its special structure. As a sub-goal of the study was determined the identification of factors affecting the competitiveness of the recreational system of the regions, which will make it possible to clarify the directions of activities to increase the competitiveness of the tourism and recreation sector of the economy of Ukraine. Findings – the paper proposes the mechanism of well-balanced mutual development of humanʼs health and recreational system management. Research limitations – the study addresses the problem of using recreational potential in such a way that, as a result of its use, the least damage is inflicted on the territory and on the population. To determine the direction of development were identified as “sore spots” groups of the recreational system. To solve this problem has been proposed a mechanism for the balanced development of the recreational system, which will allow: 1) to maintain and develop the existing recreational potential; 2) to increase the share of regional profits from the use of recreational potential. Methodology – the methodology and research tools are based on the methods of theoretical generalization, refinement of the conceptual apparatus, logical-structural modelling, scientific argumentation, and comparative analysis. Practical implications – the practical significance lies in the fact that the article reveals the problematic issues of recreation in Ukraine and suggests a mechanism for the management and sustainable development of the countryʼs recreational potential. The use of the proposed mechanism will lead to an increase in the incomes of the regions from the exploitation of the recreational potential and will create the conditions for the preservation of the recreational systems themselves. Originality/Value – the article value lies in the fact that it proposes a mechanism for the balanced development of the recreational system and the person in it; carried out the allocation of recreational management in a special function of the recreational system. The relationship between the development strategies of the recreational system and the assessment of the recreational competitiveness of the region is shown.
