Abstract:
This study aims to analyze the impact of tour guides' interpersonal communication on tourists' experiences at Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII), with tourist satisfaction as a moderating variable. The research uses a quantitative method with a descriptive and causal design. Data was collected through questionnaires distributed to 200 tourists visiting TMII who were directly involved in guided tours. The data analysis technique used is Smart PLS to test the relationships between variables. The results show that interpersonal communication of tour guides has a positive and significant effect on tourists' experiences, and tourist satisfaction serves as a moderating variable that strengthens this relationship. Open, friendly, and clear communication from the tour guide can enhance tourist satisfaction, which in turn improves tourists' experiences. This study concludes that the quality of communication between tour guides and tourists plays a crucial role in creating a memorable and satisfying tourism experience. Recommendations for TMII management include placing more emphasis on interpersonal communication training for tour guides and optimizing the system for measuring tourist satisfaction. Tour guides are encouraged to continuously improve their communication skills, while tourists are advised to actively participate in interactions with tour guides for a more enriching tourism experience. Abstract:
An important role played by tour guides on group tours is to ensure a safe and enjoyable trip; however, research focusing on their role in the field of tourism is still limited. Among tourists' behavioural intentions and satisfaction with tour guides, this study demonstrates the new role of tour guiding service quality. The data were obtained from 317 Vietnamese tourists who participated in domestic package tours. A positive correlation has been found between the tour guide's performance and the level of tourist satisfaction, as well as between tourist travel intentions and the quality of the tour guide's service. There is a substantial correlation between tourist satisfaction and tour guide performance, with service quality as an effective mediator in this relationship. The results provide insight into practical implications for tour guides to improve their capabilities and show how important tour guides are in group package tours. Tour operators need to enhance tour guide services and performance to maximize tourist satisfaction and optimistic tourist behaviour intention.

Abstract:
The article aims to show the dissonant heritage of Opole from the perspective of tourist guides. Its first section shows the dissonant heritage in relation to tourism, especially cultural tourism, heritage tourism and dark tourism. The role of the tourist guide in constructing narratives about difficult heritage is then considered. Empirically, the article endeavours to identify the elements of Opole’s dissonant heritage discerned by tourist guides, and the ways of telling tourists about them. Ten qualitative interviews were conducted with Opole guides. Analysis of the narratives reveals that the dissonant heritage of Opole is perceived by the guides from several perspectives. This primarily means their own, entangled in the social characteristics of the guide (e.g. national identity), in the context of the specificity of the group that the guide is showing round, and in the context of their reactions to the guide’s stories or sites visited.

Abstract:
The role of the tour guide is very important and very much determines the success of the tourists who will visit. With a professional tour guide, tourists who visit will bring a good impression. A good guide is the one who usually guides and takes tourists to tourist objects by paying attention to charm, courtesy and honesty. For this reason, tourist visits feel at home or not apart from objects, but what is equally important is the role of tour guides. A tour guide is a person in charge of providing guidance, information and directions on attractions or dimensions. However, during the covid-19 epidemic, the world of tourism suffered a heavy blow where all tourism sectors were severely affected which in turn would affect the Tour Guide. Therefore, the tour guides are required to be more creative and innovative by contributing all their thoughts so that they can survive in the covid-19 epidemic situation. Tour guides cannot be separated from the world of Air Transportation, because in the Tanjung Pinang City Tour Guide Capacity Building, resource persons provide material about Travel & Airlines Terminology from the perspective of the world of tourism. Thus, it can increase the understanding of tour guides about the world of aviation, so as to be able to provide satisfying services to tourists.

Abstract:
In the digital age the internet and the ICT devices changed our daily life and routines. It means we couldn‟t live without these services and devices anywhere (work, home, holiday, etc.). It can be experienced in the tourism sector; digital contents become key tools in the tourism of the 21st century; they will be able to adapt the traditional tourist guide methodology to the applications running on novel digital devices. Tourists belong to a new generation, an "ICT generation" using innovative tools, a new info-media to communicate. A possible direction for tourism development is to use modern ICT systems and devices. Besides participating in classical tours guided by travel guides, there is a new opportunity for individual tourists to enjoy high quality ICT based guided walks prepared on the knowledge of travel guides. The main idea of the GUIDE@HAND service is to use reusable, and create new tourism contents for an advanced mobile device, in order to give a contemporary answer to traditional systems of tourism information, by developing new tourism services based on digital contents for innovative mobile applications. The service is based on a new concept of enhancing territorial heritage and values, through knowledge, innovation, languages and multilingual solutions going along with new tourists‟ “sensitiveness”.

Abstract:
<em>The article analyzes the activities of tour guides, including from the standpoint of their creative activity. Tour guides are considered as a creative community of the regional tourism industry. They interact with representatives of the tourism industry and can create new tourist routes and excursions. In 2022, mandatory certification of tour guides has started in Russia. For the first time, the article presents a spatial analysis of its results, assesses the number of certified tour guides and guide-interpreters in Russian regions comparing with the tourist flows. Analysis of the mandatory guide certification allowed grouping the regions of the Russia in five categories by their provision with certified tour guides and guide-interpreters. The total number of certified tour guides and guide-interpreters in the country by June 1, 2023 does not exceed 4,500 people. The average provision of certified guides and guide-interpreters in Russia is 0.2 units per 1000 tourists. Mandatory certification of guides gives the understanding the total number of guides and guide-interpreters operating in the regions of Russia. Before the introduction of the certification procedure at the federal level, information about the number and qualification of active tour guides could be provided by tourist information centers, authorities, and less often - by experts. The article identifies successful practices for certification of tour guides in the leading regions and considers the ways for their interaction with the tourism industry. The analysis shows that certification is most effective in regions where a community of guides has been formed and actively interacts with the tourism business and regional authorities.</em>

Abstract:
This community service aims to strengthen The Purbayan Tourist VIillage about cooperation proposals and tour guides. The Purbayan Tourist Village boasts a diverse range of tourism potential, spanning from craft tourism, historical tourism, culinary tourism, to exploring cultural heritage sites. This diverse tourism potential necessitates effective management of the Purbayan Tourist Village. The existing challenge lies in relying on tourists to visit the Purbayan Tourist Village and a lack of understanding in the tour guiding process. Community engagement is targeted towards the Purbayan Tourist Village management to be more proactive in attracting tourists by offering collaboration proposals to potential agencies and implementing added value through tour guides. The community engagement methodology began with preparation and socialization on August 5, 2023. It was followed by a collaboration proposal-making training on August 12-13, 2023. Next was the tour guide training on September 29, 2023, culminating in an evaluation for improvement and performance enhancement in the future. The results of the conducted training showed an increase in understanding the collaboration proposal-making process and tour guiding. Both trainings received positive responses from the Purbayan Tourist Village management, with an understanding increase of 58.21% for the collaboration proposal-making training and 46.05% for the tour guide training. With these two trainings, the Purbayan Tourist Village management will be better prepared to develop the existing tourism potential in the Purbayan Sub-district and drive the local economy for the surrounding community.

Abstract:
Un travail d’analyse de discours porte sur des exemples de documents textuels et/ou iconiques des guides touristiques et des labels touristiques<br>It may be said that this thesis aims at understanding the spatial articulation between tourism and communication in such situations as those in which an individual subject – expressing the whole peculiarity of his or her desire through telling or practices – and collective actors are brought together. My reflection thus organises itself in accordance with the modalities of the articulation between the three dimensions of tourism: the practical dimension, the symbolic dimension and the imaginary dimension.Tourist activity consists in travelling and in visiting a site, a place or a destination; tourist mediation means the range of activities that are organised around tourism or those that are associated to it. Tourist mediation concerns the agents and the practices in the field of tourism. In this context, I wish to show that tourist mediation structures the perceptions, the interpretations and the practises of space.I address the definitions; give an overview of academic research on tourism and address the notions of tourism through the etymology of its main words (tour, tourism, and tourist) and through the differences that exist between tourism and other notions similar to it such as leisure, vacations, holiday and travelling. These notions are necessary to the comprehending of tourist mediation.I intend to lay the foundations of the field of tourist mediation and to demonstrate that the social practise of tourism is a form of mediation. I will present the tourist objects that structure the tourist practises of space. The structures of tourist mediation will then be laid; this will enable me to craft a “critical theory” of tourist mediation. With a view to understanding how the practises and the scenes of tourism organise, I will subsequently widen the concept by presenting the operators, the agents and the policies of the tourist organisation; the examples and the studies of the latter are mainly concerned with mediation and mediators in the case of France. I situate tourist mediation in relation to the experience of otherness and to the relationship to the others, to wanderlust, to the tourist imagination and to cultural imagination too. I then describe and give a two-point analysis of the tourist information system. The first point is concerned with the enunciation of space produced by the tourist, the tourists and by the tourist mediators (the enunciation of the guide’s discourse for instance) through various multimedia telling. The second point is concerned with the enunciation, through the tourist media (non-specialised or tourism media, tourist guides), by the speakers (e.g. operators and private or public agents of the tourist organisation) of the communication strategies and of the tourist descriptive signing. This discourse analysis relates to examples of textual and/or iconic documents

Abstract:
This study discusses how the pragmatic text functions of the Prince Edward Island Visitor’s Guide can be retained in translation from English into Swedish. Katharina Reiss’ model of texttypes and their different functions have been used to identify the functions of the source text, and in order to investigate the possibilities of retaining these functions in the target text, the discussion is tied to text features where the pragmatic text functions are displayed. The translation choices, next, are supported by the translation strategies offered by Rune Ingo and Peter Newmark. The results show that the informative function can be retained by using the translation strategies of addition or explicitation in most cases, whereas the operative function can be retained by copying the sentence structure or the direct address from the source text to the target text. The expressive function, next, can be retained by using Ingo’s strategy of equivalence. However, there are also examples where the expressive function has to be neglected in favor of the informative function.

Abstract:
Owing to the nature of tourism services, in most cases tourists experience a tourism service in the presence of service personnel and fellow tourists. Scholars and practitioners have been interrogating the role of co-creation in providing tourists with a superior experience and increased tourist satisfaction. Within a group package tour (GPT), tourists appear to be active co-creators of their experience through tourist-to-tour guide interactions (TGIs) and tourist-to-tourist interactions (TTIs). TGIs and TTIs also seemingly play an important role in determining tourist satisfaction through tourist experience. However, very little research has examined the influence of TGIs and TTIs on tourist experience and tourist satisfaction. The overall purpose of this study is to examine the influence of TGIs and TTIs on tourist experience and tourist satisfaction in GPTs. To do this, this study aims to (1) identify specific forms of TGIs and TTIs in GPTs and explore factors influencing TGIs and TTIs, (2) investigate the importance and performance of forms of TGIs and TTIs, and (3) examine how TGIs and TTIs influence tourist experience and tourist satisfaction in GPTs. The characteristics of GPTs in Vietnam provided an ideal research context for addressing these research objectives. A sequential mixed-method approach consisting of two research stages was adopted in the research design. The qualitative study involved participant observations in three GPTs and thirty-three qualitative in-depth interviews were conducted to achieve the first research objective and thus help develop the questionnaire used in the quantitative study. The quantitative study employed a questionaire survey as the main method of data collection and examined the influence of TGIs and TTIs on tourist experience and tourist satisfaction. The qualitative study found that ten forms of TGIs and eight forms of TTIs commonly occurred in the GPTs in Vietnam. Most of the TGI forms were service-oriented interactions while most of the TTI forms were social-oriented interactions. These forms of TGIs and TTIs were allocated to the four quadrants of an importance-performance analysis matrix through an importance-performance analysis using the quantitative data, which identified managerial implications for tour operators, tour businesses and tour guides. The quantitative study found that the quality of TGIs positively influenced the four dimensions of tourist experience (i.e., learning, enjoyment, escape, aesthetics), but that the quantity of TGIs negatively influenced the four dimensions of tourist experience; both the quantity and quality of TTIs positively influenced the four dimensions of tourist experience. The quantity and quality of TGIs as well as the quantity and quality of TGIs significantly determined tourist satisfaction through the four dimensions of tourist experience. This study (1) contributes to the literature on social interactions in tourism services by identifying forms of TGIs and TTIs and the factors influencing TGIs and TTIs in GPTs; (2) enriches and advances the literature on co-creation of tourist experience from the tourist perspective by examining the role of tourists in co-creating their experience through TGIs and TTIs and by investigating the role of social interactions in making tourist experience; and (3) provides a broader understanding of tourist satisfaction in the context of GPTs through its attempts to investigate the role of TGIs and TTIs in determining tourist satisfaction through tourist experience. The study results offer invaluable practical insights and directions for tour operators, tour guides and other tour businesses to improve relevant tourism management practices.

Abstract:
As mobile devices are increasingly merging into our daily lives, exhibition ser- vices are also facing innovation based on the newly available technologies. Our project addresses these new circumstances. We developed a mobile exhibition guide for the exhibition called quot;Mrs Brown's Big Day Out: Hamilton Women in the 1950squot;. That is organized by the Waikato Museum. The proposed sys- tem re-uses the TIP(Tourist Information Provider) system's framework and provides information via mobile devices to visitors on Victoria Street, which is an outdoor part of the exhibition. The information about a sight will be delivered according to visitors' current locations and their interests. We would also like to examine the possibility of re-using our TIP system within the application area of exhibition guide. Therefore, we built the mobile exhibition guide system under the TIP system's framework and developed corresponding services that tailored the system to the requirements of visitors and the exhibition organizer. During the development, we faced a number of challenges, especially, modeling the unknown and unstructured exhibition data into the TIP database. The development process as well as the implementation and evaluation are detailed in this report.

Abstract:
Isso ratifica a afiliação do guia a uma identidade regional estereotipada da Paraíba, tradicionalmente definida pela pobreza e atraso, em contraponto ao poder e modernidade do Rio de Janeiro (Albuquerque Jr., 2001).<br>Adopting a sociointeractional approach to discourse analysis, this dissertation aims to study the construction of identity in the narratives of a tourist guide of a fort, in the state of Paraíba. In addition, the present work investigates how the identity constructed affiliates to the cultural identity of Paraíba. The narratives were collected during a guide tour in the fort, and a subsequent research interview. The basis for analysis is the notion that narratives situate us in a social and cultural context, showing how we belong to certain social groups, and positioning ourselves before other interactants (Bastos, in the press). The construction of identity is examined through the consideration of the positionings (Davies and Harré, 1980) taken by the guide, and the relations established between the narrator and the characters, and between the characters themselves (Linde, 1993). The identity emerging in the spontaneous narratives is from a powerless guy, although he may seem integrated to a powerful group of teachers at Paraíba. In the elicited narratives, the identity of champion is not enough to avoid migration to Rio de Janeiro, in search of social inclusion in Southeast. The migration ratifies the guide`s affiliation to a stereotyped cultural identity of Paraíba, traditionally defined by poverty and undevelopment, in contrast to power and modernity of Rio de Janeiro (Albuquerque Jr., 2001).

Тільки підвищення якості туристсько-екскурсійних послуг дозволяє сформувати позитивний імідж туристського центру, а значить, збільшити приплив туристів і підвищити доходи від туристичної галузі.<br>In this paper it is stated that the modern tourist market requires a new approach to the organization of excursion activities as one of the tourist products. Tour operators who create an excursion product should take into account what has changed today 's consumer demand and requirements for differentiation of services. Quality has long been a major competitive advantage. Only improving the quality of tourist and excursion services allows you to create a positive image of the tourist center, which means to increase the influx of tourists and increase revenues from the tourism industry.

Abstract Bopiliao Historic Block is a popular tourist attraction for visitors from all over the world, with many of its ancient buildings well preserved through the centuries. This paper focuses on the English translation of Bopiliao’s audio guide text. Based on the theories of Newmark’s (1981) evocative text and Nida’s (2012) dynamic equivalence, this paper examines the translation strategies in Bopiliao’s audio guide text from linguistic and cultural perspectives for the purpose of naturalness. Despite some translation errors in the last three sections, the target text of the Bopiliao’s audio guide proves out to be a successful example of tourism translation.

Abstract:
The corona virus has shaped our everyday life in many ways during the last two years. The COVID-19 pandemic has upended the travel and tourism industries and opened many questions about the future of individuals working in the tourism industry. Traditional well-known concepts must be changed. The urban tourist of the post-covid time will probably travel in a world more digitally mediated than ever before. To stay relevant during the pandemic, business organizations had to apply digital tools. Tourism organizations did the same. Therefore, the position and perspectives of the tour guides whose role has always been an inevitable segment of the touristic offer has been called into question and is significantly threatened. The number of tourists was limited because of lockdowns, which seemingly led to disappearance of the ‘traditional’ guided group tours. This paper aims to provide the description of the position of the tour guides in the world considering the current epidemiological situation and to focus on the future trends that should be developed in this field. It also emphasizes the importance of recognizing new forms of touristic offers that shall influence the way of engaging tour guides, thus considering whether digitalization will somehow suppress the “live performance” of a tour guide.

Abstract:
Geoheritage represents a significant potential in the tourism product of Serbia. Although essential, it is often absent enough in the tourist offer, and specialized tourist guides do not exist. Interpretation represents a specific form of mediation in the education of visitors, which is why the role of tourist guides is vital. Interpretation is a form of communication designed to interpret natural and cultural heritage through the direct encounter of visitors with artifacts and heritage. The tourist guide is the intermediary, and tourists' satisfaction often depends on their knowledge and skills. The aim of this paper is to present the role and importance of the personal interpretation of tourist guides as the main actors of geotourist education, as well as their role in creating visitor satisfaction in this specific area. Does and how much does geomythology help? What kind of storytelling is necessary for different visitor structures? What is the common denominator for all visitors to geoheritage sites - is it just pleasure or knowledge. If interpretation is also defined as a way of presenting certain artifacts with the aim of attracting visitors' attention and providing new knowledge, then tourist guides at geoheritage sites have an important role.

Abstract:
Literary tourism is related with cultural tourism and cultural heritage. Its looks like that it is a phenomena of new age, but for it are connected mainteend terms, and it is, by itself, much older. A long time ago exist a need for traveling on pilgrimage trying to fi nd the cradle of ancient art and poetry in Old Rome and Ancient Greece, Keats, Shelly, Byron...The birthplace of tourism is England, which was born with first tour travel by train from Loughborough to Lester in July 1841, which was organized by Thomas Cook, future founder of first tourist agency. There is some opinion that literary tourism actually started in England too, when actor David Garrick in the year 1769. "discovered" Shakespeare's birthplace Stratford upon Avon. As a huge Shakespeare admirer and actor of his playing figures, on demand of local people he donated a writers statue for city hall. He decided too, to organized a three days festival in month September on the name "Jubilee" which was announced in newspapers. In spite of catastrophe of the first festival because of big rain, Shamilion kespears birth place become a famous and the biggest center of literary tourism in Britain with 2,5 tourist every year. We are presented a theoretical frame of literary tourism, but in focus we have a "Literary guide trough Belgrade" as an example of good practise. We are following all phases of this project, from idea, editing in specialised magazines, making tours on the ground, publishing book and finally shooting a documentary film based on the model of city tours. Inspired by writers Dragan Velikich essay about Berlin, in which he wrote about enciclopedic perfect guide-book "Literary guide trough Berlin".It recovered remembrance on the past and registered presence of hundred writers and artists. On path of it author is trying trough lives and works couple of dozen co-called Belgrades writers to paint the picture of cultural and historical uprise of Serbian capital, making a net of itineraries which connected different points.

Abstract:
In this paper, development of historical guide based on Augmented Reality (AR) technology is considered. The developed guide application it targeted to be used in different scenarios, in particular, during history learning classes, for guidance of the tourists to exhibits both indoor and outdoor. Common features of all these scenarios are generalized and according to them main information and objects model for forming scene are identified. This part is followed by detailed description of objects and scene representation, markers usage, employment of additional services, etc. Finally, the developed historical guide application has been introduced. It harnesses A-Frame library for processing of models and their representation. The application is able to work with different markers so that it can be extended easily. In addition, one of the main benefits of the developed application is support of multiple platforms because it works from web-browser and does not require installation of additional software. The developed application can be effectively used for all provided scenarios and has potential for further extension.

Full text
Abstract:
The health of Belize's economy is closely related to the health of the tourism industry, which was responsible for 40 percent of total exports of goods and services from 2008 to 2012. The tourism industry in Belize is still an emerging sector, and its continued sustainable growth is a critical factor. This technical note discusses the main characteristics of Belize's tourism sector and its importance to the national economy, and identifies the key constraints to the sector's sustainable development and the policies currently being implemented. The note highlights the country's cultural heritage, biodiversity, and ecosystems as forms of natural capital; the threats of natural disasters and climate change; and the opportunities to achieve sustainable tourism. It also presents policy recommendations, taking into account the strategic goals of the National Sustainable Tourism Master Plan 2012-2030 (NSTMP), a strategic framework for sustainable development that guides Belize's tourism sector, as well as the goals toward regional integration in Central America.

In this study we develop an evidence-based tool to help to guide policy and investment choices, to maximize developmental returns from tourism. Specifically, we develop a tourism-extended social accounting matrix and computable general equilibrium and microsimulation models customized for tourism investment analysis. To demonstrate the approach, we develop these data structures for Belize, at both national and regional levels. The framework developed herein can be used to quantify the direct and indirect, and short- and long-run impacts of tourism investments. Anticipating application of the approach to tourism investment analysis in the Central American Region, we provide a stock take of the availability of data to develop a similar suite of models for other countries in the region.

Abstract:
This study assesses the Philippine Retirement Authority's (PRA) current program and business model. Established by Executive Order No. 1037 in 1985, the PRA aims to position the Philippines as a prime retirement destination, contributing to the country's social and economic development. Utilizing GAP and SWOT analyses, the research explores potential enhancements to PRA’s business strategy, guided by Porter's competitive advantage model and Prahalad and Hamel's core competencies framework. In addition, the analysis supplements the analytical frameworks with a strategic agenda that covers a discussion of five strategic dimensions: 1. PRA's goal; 2. PRA’s source of market or competitive advantage; 3. PRA's major source of core competence; 4. PRA's current business model; and 5. PRA's strategies in specific management functions. The findings reveal PRA's commendable financial performance from 1986 to 2021, achieving fiscal autonomy in 1993. As of December 31, 2021, the agency reported significant financial metrics per retiree. The GAP analysis suggests two pathways for performance improvement: intensifying efforts to meet targets or recalibrating targets to align with available resources, with the SWOT analysis supporting the latter. Recommendations include enhancing SRRV benefits with a focus on efficient processing and registration, developing a medium-term plan detailing corporate goals and necessary initiatives, promoting a brand identity synonymous with exceptional customer service and the warmth of Philippine hospitality, collaborating with the Department of Tourism to support retirement promotion, and adopting a specialization model to better serve targeted customer segments and regions.
