Abstract:
In this work a mathematical model is assembled to evaluate the electric complex power and electric current output of pressure retarded osmosis (PRO)- based generation plants. Unlike other works already reported in the literature, the assembled model allows performing that evaluation in the abc reference frame based on the salinity concentrations of the salty and fresh water bodies entering the membrane modules and the phasor voltages at the terminals of the generation plant. The induction generator is selected as the power transductor. The assembled model also collects main phenomena affecting

SummaryMyostatin is described as a negative regulator of the skeletal muscle growth. Genetic engineering, in order to produce animals with double the muscle mass and that can transmit the characteristic to future progeny, may be useful. In this context, the present study aimed to analyse the feasibility of lentiviral-mediated delivery of short hairpin RNA (shRNA) targeting of myostatin into in vitro produced transgenic bovine embryos. Lentiviral vectors were used to deliver a transgene that expressed green fluorescent protein (GFP) and an shRNA that targeted myostatin. Vector efficiency was ve

The main goal of husbandry and beef cattle production is to enhance performance rates, for example, weight gain. Myostatin is referred to as a negative regulator of skeletal muscle growth. Genetic engineering of this character in order to produce double muscling animals that can transmit to future progeny will enhance its usefulness. The present research aimed to analyze myostatin inhibition through lentiviral-mediated delivery of shRNA in mouse myoblast culture and the feasibility of the lentiviral-mediated delivery of shRNA into in vitro-produced transgenic bovine embryos. IntroductionThe microRNA-200 (miR-200) family and sex-determining region Y-box 4 (SOX4) could regulate EMT phenotypes, which is important to the process of tumor pathological. This study explored the association of miR-200a with SOX4 in transforming growth factor (TGF)-β-induced EMT of OC cells.Material and methodsFor the in vitro experiments, hunam CO cells subjected to TGF-β was used to induce EMT; the activity of miR-200a was selectively inhibited or overexpressioned by miR-200a inhibitor and mimics, respectively. Small interfering RNAs against SOX4 (si-SOX4) were used to inhibit SOX4 expre

<p align="justify">Many different active control techniques can be used to control the vibrations of a mechanical structure: they however require at least a sensitive signal amplifier (for the sensor), a power amplifier (for the actuator) and an analog or digital filter (for the controller). The use of all these electronic devices may be impractical in many applications and has motivated the use of the so-called shunt circuits, in which an electrical circuit is directly connected to a transducer embedded in the structure. The transducer acts as an energy converter: it transforms mechanical (vi
