Abstract:
Translation is a process of rendering meaning from one language to another language and translation procedures are the technical strategies adopted by the translator to achieve the closet possible equivalent. In this paper an attempt has been made to evaluate the techniques of translation of cultural terms offered by New mark that have been employed in translating cultural words. This paper also aims to have an argument on the techniques of translation that focus on target readers in post-modernism. It has been found that in translating cultural terms, ten different techniques are found to have been employed in translating cultural words. Literal translation is mostly used and claque is the least used technique. There is triangular relationship among the translator, the text and the reader. A translator should remove the spectacle of domination and accept the foreign culture and source culture with respect in postmodernism.

Abstract:
This research aims to analyze the translation techniques used and assess the translation quality in the form of accuracy and acceptability assessment on respond-to-request speech acts of The Lost Hero and The Son of Neptune novel series written by Rick Riordan. This research used a qualitative-descriptive method whose data sources were the novel series and two raters who had aptitudes in assessing translation quality. The methods to collect and analyze the data were content analysis and Focus Group Discussion. The study found 11 translation techniques applied in translating the respond-to-request speech acts. They were establish equivalent, variation, borrowing, modulation, amplification, adaptation, discursive creation, transposition, reduction, literal translation, and substitution. Dealing with the quality, the findings showed that most translations were accurate and acceptable. The majority of accurate translations used established equivalent technique. The less accurate translations applied modulation, amplification addition, discursive creation, literal translation and reduction whereas the inaccurate ones applied literal translation technique. Meanwhile, the majority of acceptable translations used establish equivalent and he less acceptable translations applied modulation, amplification addition, and discursive creation. Thus, this research proposes that the use of appropriate translation techniques is very important for the results of quality translation that is easily understood by the reader.

Abstract:
The differences in two linguistic and cultural systems have made obstacles in translation. Thus, this research is aimed at analysing the translation technique used by the student in translating the narrative text. The data focused on the translation of The Tale of Tom Kitten from English to Indonesian done by ten students of BIPA (Indonesian for non-native speaker) Dharmasiswa at STIBA Saraswati Denpasar. The method of collecting the data in this research was direct observation method. It observed directly through the translation of the fable. There were two techniques used in collecting the data. The first was reading the English version of The Tale of Tom Kitten and the Indonesian translation done by the students. The second technique was choosing the sentences that represent the use of translation techniques in translating the narrative text. The data collected were analysed through descriptive qualitative method. The data analysed were the results of the research. The translation strategies used to translate the narrative text were analysed. The techniques of analyzing the data followed three steps. First, the data represented the translation strategies use in translation was noted. Then, it was analyzed the type of the translations techniques used to translate the sentences from English into Indonesian. The result found that there were four types of techniques used by the students to translate The Tale of Tom Kitten. They are literal technique, establish equivalent technique, reduction technique, and amplification technique.

This article discusses one of the forms of machine translation, the Instagram translation feature called “see translation”. The research is focused on the translation techniques applied by the machine in translating Banyumas batik motifs from Indonesian to English found in @batikantodjamil and @batk_rd. This topic is worth discussing since machine translation is now getting more developed and is projected to replace human translator. However, in some cases, for example in dealing with culturally-bound terms, machine translation cannot perform contextual knowledge as well as the human translator. this mini research was conducted by applying qualitative research with purposive sampling technique in which the researchers obtain the data by selecting two batik center Instagram accounts containing batik motif names in the captions. The result shows that there are three translation techniques applied by the Instagram translation features, namely literal, borrowing, and particularization. The most dominant technique to use is borrowing technique, and it shows a tendency that such cultural terms in the source language do not have one-to-one correspondence in the target language. In other words, the touch of human translator is very important in the post-editing process of translation by machine to make the translation more acceptable. However, if it is impossible to involve human translator, the Instagram administrator should enrich the machine with more contextual linguistic database to provide the users with better translation results.

Abstract:
In Indonesia, the hagiographical book of Shaikh ʻAbd al-Qādir al-Jailānī has many versions of translation. One of it is an-Nūr al-burhānī, a Javanese translation by Kyai Muslih al-Marāqī. Unlike other Javanese translations, an-Nūr al-burhānī is not merely a translation but can be considered a new book, in which the translator added some new information and opinion in it. Therefore, the book is interesting to be investigated deeply to find scientific information about the content of the book, the technique, method, and ideology of translation that are adopted and applied by the translator. Using content analysis, the study finds that the book consists of al-Jailānī’s journey of life, his miracles and teachings. The other findings prove that the translator has implemented various techniques of translation such as calque, borrowing, description, amplification-addition, and adaptation techniques. The translator has tried to make the TT (Target Text) easy to be understood by Javanese people, but he tends to apply literal (linguistic transcodification) method rather than interpretative-communicative (translation of the sense) method. As a result, the TT is still influenced by the structure of Arabic as SL (Source Text) and not natural in everyday use of Javanese language. Thus, it can be inferred that the translator more dominantly adopts the ideology of foreignization than domestication. However, what the translator does is more advanced than the other Javanese translators, who usually use only the word for word or literal translation method. This is the uniqueness in translating al-Jailānī’s hagiography or manāqib.

Abstract:
Every human has their own characteristics of languages and in order to understand one language to another languages, then, translation was essential and fully needed. In order to avoid the awkward translation, therefore the translator must use a technique in translating the texts. The research aimed at analyzing the equivalence between the source language and its translations based on the translation techniques applied by translator. This research focused on the amplification and transposition techniques could be seen on the imperative sentences especially command. The research was conducted by applying qualitative method. The research was conducted by applying library research and observation methods. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive qualitative method. The study applied two methods to present the analysis of data as follows informal and formal method. Target of research did not involve participants however, this research focused on analyzing data was English commands and its translation into Indonesian by using amplification and transposition found in the novel. The result of research showed amplification and transposition were dominant used in translating the English commands (SL) into Indonesian (TL). The translator applied amplification and transposition to find equivalences when transferring the meaning from the source language (SL) into target language (TL). Therefore, the overlapping translation could be minimized. Amplification had a role especially the addition of information. The phenomena occurred when the detail information did not contain in the SL and the translator must be sensitive by putting the necessary information in TL. Transposition created three parts of shift: structure, unit, and class of shift.

Abstract:
The article is aimed to find out the Techniques of Translating English Figurative Expression in ‘Colours’ Magazine by Garuda Indonesia into Indonesian. There are three problems are discussed in this study, namely (1) types of figurative expressions found in the English version of ‘Colours’ magazine and their translation’s equivalence into Indonesian and (2) kinds of translation techniques applied in translating the English figurative expression into Indonesian, This research belongs to qualitative research and the data used in this study were taken from the ‘Colours’ magazine by Garuda Indonesia. The main theory which is applied in this study is taken from the theory of Molina & Albir (2002) in their book entitled Translation Techniques Revisited; A Dynamic and Functionalist Approach. Another theory applied is taken from the theory of McArthur (1992) in his book entitled The Oxford Companion on The English Language. Other supporting theories which are used to support this study are the theory of Larson (1998) in her book entitled Meaning-Based Translation and some other books considered relevant to the topic. The result showed that there are eleven kinds of English figurative expressions found in the data. They are antithesis, euphemism, hyperbole, idioms, irony, metaphor, metonimy, personification, pleonasm, simile and synecdoche. In translating techniques, the translator applied ten translating techniques, they are; adaptation, borrowing, compensation, description, established equivalent, linguistic comprehension, literal technique, modulation, reduction and transposition. In translating a figurative expression from SL into TL, some of the results showed that an English figurative expression is translated into Indonesian figurative translation but some of them can not maintain its figurativeness in Indonesian, therefore the English figurative expression is translated into Indonesian non-figuratively. Abstract:
The literary translation still becomes such of debating among several experts and researchers, especially at translation studies. The aim of this study was to find out what kinds of techniques of translation were applied in translating the poems of Maya Angelou, and how the appropriateness of techniques were applied by the students. Mollina & Albir’s classification of translation techniqueswas used as the primary theory in the analysis of the translation texts. This study was descriptive qualitaive and content analysis. The data were taken from text translations of two poems which consist of 550 data from 10 students as translators. The research findings revealed that14 techniques were used by students. The result showed that there were 14 translation techniques which were used, compensation, literal translation, modulation, linguistic amplification, discursive creation, linguistic compression, reduction, amplification, adaptation, transposition, borrowing, established equivalent, particularization, and description. The next finding showed that the appropriate techniques wereapplied at 69.3%. Meanwhile, inappropriate techniques were at 30.7%. The conclusion of this study was that students used the most at compensation and the lowest was description. The students mostly successful in applying appropriate technique at delivering messages, but were flub in recreating thepoetical aspect in Target Language. In some cases, this indicated deficiency in determining the equivalent expression in the target text. The suggestion for further researchers is to explore a similar study by investigating on figurative speech and poetical aspect at poetry translation.

This study was aimed at analyzing the Indonesian translation of spelling, punctuation, and grammatical errors made by autistic character in Flower for Algernon novel. It also analyzes translation techniques, methods, ideology, qualities of the translation. The method applied was descriptive-qualitative with the data in the form of translated words and phrases indicating spelling, punctuation and grammatical errors made by the autistic character. The primary data sources were Flower for Algernon novel along with its translation version in Indonesian. Meanwhile, the secondary data sources were informants who gave information on the accuracy, acceptability, and readability of translation. The process of collecting data used documentation, questionnaire distribution, and focus group discussion (FGD) technique whereas the sampling technique applied is purposive sampling. The findings of this research show that there are 309 data of words containing spelling, punctuation and grammatical errors. Four translation techniques are used by translator namely graphology normalizations, established equivalent, compensation, and deletion. The translation method used tends to be established equivalent with domestication ideology. The translation of words with errors by graphology normalization techniques produced accurate translations with decreases in acceptability. This is because the translator removes the autism markers from the source language to the target language.

Abstract:
The rapid technologisation of translation has influenced the translation industry’s direction towards machine translation, post-editing, subtitling services and video content translation. Besides, the pandemic situation associated with COVID-19 has rapidly increased the transfer of business and education to the virtual world. This situation has motivated us not only to look for new approaches to online translator training, which requires a different method than learning foreign languages but in particular to look for new approaches to assess translator performance within online educational environments. Translation quality assessment is a key task, as the concept of quality is closely linked to the concept of optimization. Automatic metrics are very good indicators of quality, but they do not provide sufficient and detailed linguistic information about translations or post-edited machine translations. However, using their residuals, we can identify the segments with the largest distances between the post-edited machine translations and machine translations, which allow us to focus on a more detailed textual analysis of suspicious segments. We introduce a unique online teaching and learning system, which is specifically “tailored” for online translators’ training and subsequently we focus on a new approach to assess translators’ competences using evaluation techniques—the metrics of automatic evaluation and their residuals. We show that the residuals of the metrics of accuracy (BLEU_n) and error rate (PER, WER, TER, CDER, and HTER) for machine translation post-editing are valid for translator assessment. Using the residuals of the metrics of accuracy and error rate, we can identify errors in post-editing (critical, major, and minor) and subsequently utilize them in more detailed linguistic analysis.

Abstract:
This study discusses the translation of imperative sentences contained in a literary work in the form of a novel. In general, the use of imperative sentences is characterized by the meaning of orders and prohibitions. However, there are differences between the imperative sentences of one language and another. Methods of data analysis are using translational equivalent method and glossing technique. The data were analyzed in two stages. First, categorizing the translation techniques used based on the theory of translation techniques according to Molina and Albir (20002), and second, determining the translation method using the theory of the translation method according to Newmark (1988). Based on the analysis, there were eight types of translation techniques found, namely 1) adaptation techniques; 2) amplification techniques; 3) established equivalent techniques; 4) generalization techniques; 5) linguistic compression techniques; 6) literal translation techniques; 7) modulation techniques; and 8) reduction techniques. Furthermore, translation method classified based on the orientation of the source language and target language is found. The translation method which is oriented to the source language consists of two translation methods, namely the semantic translation method and the literal translation method. Meanwhile, the translation method which is oriented towards the target language consists of three translation methods, namely the free translation method, the idiomatic translation method, and the communicative translation method. The results of this study indicate the translation method that is most widely used in this research is free translation method so that the translation of the imperative sentences applied in translating the novel Girls in the Dark by Andry Setiawan tends to be oriented towards the target language.

Abstract:
Several studies have been done on the technique of translating novel speech acts. However, impositive speech act translation research is still limited. Speakers perform impositive speech acts to burden their speech partners. Thus, the translator must comprehend the context. This study aimed to determine the translator's translation technique for adjusting target language meaning to the context. The data used in this study was gathered from the original English novel and compared to the same story in Indonesian. The researcher used the Forum Group Discussion with three translation professionals (FGD) to validate the data. The study found that most translators employ the conventional equivalency method. The translator determines the most suitable and acceptable meaning for the target language.

This study aims to assess the quality level of the Facebook translation From English to Indonesian, what techniques are used and to determine the causes of the low quality of the automatic translation tool. This study compares the results of the Facebook translation with the results of the respondents presented with a qualitative descriptive method. The researcher conducted a test on 40 Facebook translation data involving 8 students of the English language education study program to assess whether the Facebook translation results were acceptable or still require re-translation from them. From 48 techniques used by Facebook, found 48 data (100%) categorized as not accurate, not acceptable and low readability translations consisting of 37 data using literal translation (77,1 %), borrowing namely 9 data (18,7 %), calque namely 1 data (2,1%), and reduction namely 1 data (2,1%). Meanwhile, the translation techniques used by the respondents were more diverse. From 54 techniques used by Respondents, found 54 data (100%) categorized as accurate, acceptable and high readability translations consisting of 21 data using literal translation (38,8 %), adaptation namely 14 data (25,9 %), transposition namely 9 data (16,6%), borrowing namely 4 data (7,4%), description namely 2 data (3,7%), amplification namely 1 data (1,9%), calque namely 1 data (1,9%), modulation namely 1 data (1,9%) and reduction namely 1 data (1,9%). Facebook's tendency to often use Literal translation is believed to be the cause of the low level of quality because this technique is used as an early stage of translation and is called the lowest technique.

Abstract:
The paper aimed at exploring the current phenomenon regarding human translation with machine translation. Human translation (HT), by definition, is when a human translator—rather than a machine—translate text. It's the oldest form of translation, relying on pure human intelligence to convert one way of saying things to another. The person who performs language translation. Learn more about using technology to reduce healthcare disparity. A person who performs language translation. The translation is necessary for the spread of information, knowledge, and ideas. It is absolutely necessary for effective and empathetic communication between different cultures. Translation, therefore, is critical for social harmony and peace. Only a human translation can tell the difference because the machine translator will just do the direct word to word translation. This is a hindrance to machines because they are not advanced to the level of rendering these nuances accurately, but they can only do word to word translations. There are different translation techniques, diverse theories about translation and eight different translation services types, including technical translation, judicial translation and certified translation. The translation is the process of translating the sequence of a messenger RNA (mRNA) molecule to a sequence of amino acids during protein synthesis. The genetic code describes the relationship between the sequence of base pairs in a gene and the corresponding amino acid sequence that it encodes.

Abstract:
In this paper, we discuss three translation techniques: literal, cultural, and artistic. Literal translation is a well-known technique, which means that it is quite easy to find sources on the topic. Cultural and artistic translation may be new terms. Whilst cultural translation focuses on matching contexts, artistic translation focuses on matching reactions. Because literal translation matches only words, it is not hard to find situations in which we should not use this technique. Because artistic translation focuses on reactions, judging the quality of an artistic translation work is one of the most difficult things one can do. We end up having a score of complexity and humanity for each one of the mentioned techniques: Literal translation would be the closest thing we have to the machines world and artistic translation would be the closest thing we have to the purely human world. By creating these classifications and studying the subtleties of each one of them, we are adding degrees of quality to our courses and to translation as a professional field. The main contribution of this paper is then the formalization of such a piece of knowledge. We, however, also lay the foundations for studies of this type.

Abstract The aim of this article is to clarify the notion of translation technique, understood as an instrument of textual analysis that, in combination with other instruments, allows us to study how translation equivalence works in relation to the original text. First, existing definitions and classifications of translation techniques are reviewed and terminological, conceptual and classification confusions are pointed out. Secondly, translation techniques are redefined, distinguishing them from translation method and translation strategies. The definition is dynamic and functional. Finally, we present a classification of translation techniques that has been tested in a study of the translation of cultural elements in Arabic translations of A Hundred Years of Solitude by Garcia Marquez.

Abstract:
The objectives of this project are to describe the intralingual translation techniques used in translating the original novel David Copperfield into a simplified version and to find out the reasons why the translator made a simplified version of the original novel David Copperfield written by Charles Dickens. This study used the descriptive qualitative method. The data were collected by reading the novel, comparing the original and simplified texts of David Copperfield, identifying, classifying, counting, and concluding the results. The theory of Jakobson was used to analyze the data related to intralingual translation techniques. The results of the study showed that from the total data (20 texts from the original novel David Copperfield and 20 texts from the simplified version), the paraphrasing technique was used 6 times and the summarizing technique was used 14 times. Besides, the most dominant intralingual translation technique used by the translator is the summarizing technique. The reasons why the translator used paraphrasing and summarizing techniques in making the intralingual translation of the original novel into a simplified version were also found. Firstly, the original novel consists of 750 pages, which are easier to read by making the summary of the novel into 238 pages using the summarizing technique. Secondly, the original novel consists of many difficult words, which can hinder the comprehension of the reader whereas in the simplified version the novel was paraphrased by using the paraphrasing technique.

Abstract:
The title of this research is “Method and Procedure of Translation used in Anime Quotes from Japanese to Indonesia at Official Account LINE Bahasa Jepang Bersama”. The purpose of the research is to identify the types of technique, procedure, and method of translation applied in translating anime quotes. Theories used in this research are the theory of translation techniques proposed by Molina and Albir (2002), the procedure of translation by Vinay and Darbelnet (1995), and the translation methods by Newmark (1988). The research data was analyzed by translational equivalence method and glossing. The result of the data analysis indicates that there are several translation techniques applied, they are literal translation, amplification, modulation, linguistic amplification, established equivalence, reduction, and transposition. The most found translation technique is literal translation because its aim is to produce a translation that stick to the originality of the language source text content and form. Then, there are procedures of translation applied, they are literal translation, transposition, and modulation. Thereafter for the method of translation applied they are literal translation, free translation, communicative translation, and idiomatic translation. The most found translation method is free translation because its aim is to produce a translation that fit to the need of target language readers. The translation methods applied tend to be oriented towards the target language.

Abstract:
Many ironic, cynical, and sarcastic expressions are found in Ronggeng Dukuh Paruk trilogy. Because of the differences of situational context and cultural background, it is not easy for the target readers to grab the information and mission or messages delivered by Ahmad Tohari in the source text. Some techniques might be chosen by the translator. The accuracy, acceptability or naturalness, and readability of the ironic, cynical, and sarcastic expressions should also be considered. The aims of the study were first to identify the translation techniques of ironic, cynical, and sarcastic expression in Ronggeng Dukuh Paruk trilogy from Indonesian into English, and the second, to explore the translation accuracy, acceptability, and readability of translating ironic, cynical, and sarcastic expression in Ronggeng Dukuh Paruk trilogy from Indonesian into English. The object of this study was Ronggeng Dukuh Paruk trilogy written by Ahmad Tohari translated by Rene T.A. Lysloff. This study employed embedded research design. It combined or integrated qualitative and quantitative data. The data analysis was deductively built from particular to general. The result of the translation techniques analysis shows that the most dominant translation techniques are established equivalent, reduction, and modulation. Based on the analysis, it reveals that the translation quality of ironic expression translation possesses the highest score compared with cynic and sarcastic expressions translation. It can be concluded that translation techniques influence the translation quality. It might be suggested for the future researchers to investigate how translation technique influences the translation quality.

TRANSLATION TECHNIQUES IN TAJ: TRAGEDI DI BALIK TANDA CINTA ABADI NOVELTEKNIK PENERJEMAHAN DALAM NOVEL TAJ: TRAGEDI DI BALIK TANDA CINTA ABADIAbstractTranslation requires reputable competence when it is related with the translation quality: how accurate, clear, and readable the translator delivers the message. The quality of translation is closely related with the techniques used by the translator to tackle many obstacles in doing translation. Each technique used gives different impact in translation product. The translator has to choose the appropriate techniques in order to deliver the message accurately, clearly, and readable. This project was descriptive research which has been attempted to analyze the techniques used in translating historical romance novel Taj: A Story of Mughal India into Taj: Tragedi Di Balik Tanda Cinta Abadi by Maria M. Lubis. It used three variable factors of translation that were the two novels as objective factor, the translator as genetic factor, and the raters as affective factor to analyze, compare, rate, and score the translation techniques. The data chosen from the both novel were the sentence of both novel that consist of cultural specific items. From the analysis, it was found that there were 15 techniques used in translating the novel. These 15 techniques were adaptation 19.15%, pure borrowing 18.62%, established equivalent 9.57%, natural borrowing 8.51%, generalization 6.38%, Modulation 5.85%, particularization 5.85%, amplification 5.32%, transposition 2.66%, reduction 2.13%, inversion 2.13%, pure borrowing plus established equivalent 2.13%, description 1.60%, literal 1.60%, omission 1.60%, adaptation, pure borrowing, and omission 1.06%, amplification and pure borrowing 1.06%, natural and pure borrowing 1.06%, discursive creation, generalization and transposition, literal and generalization, pure borrowing and generalization, pure borrowing and transposition, generalization and omission, adaptation, pure borrowing and transposition each of them 0.53%. The result of research showed that the dominant technique used is adaptation since the cultural term of source language is appropriate to be translated as same equivalent into the target language. Teknik penerjemahan tersebut adalah adaptation 19.15%, pure borrowing 18.62%, established equivalent 9.57%, natural borrowing 8.51%, generalization 6.38%, Modulation 5.85%, particularization 5.85%, amplification 5.32%, transposition 2.66%, reduction 2.13%, inversion 2.13%, pure borrowing plus established equivalent 2.13%, description 1.60%, literal 1.60%, omission 1.60%, adaptation, pure borrowing, and omission 1.06%, amplification and pure borrowing 1.06%, natural and pure borrowing 1.06%, discursive creation, generalization and transposition, literal and generalization, pure borrowing and generalization, pure borrowing and transposition, generalization and omission, adaptation, pure borrowing and transposition each of them 0.53%. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa teknik yang paling banyak digunakan adalah adaptation dikarenakan istilah budaya lebih tepat diterjemahkan dengan mengganti elemen budaya pada bahasa sumber dengan hal yang sama pada budaya bahasa target. Abstract:
The aim of this study is to develop Molina & Albir’s (2002) translation technique in translating nure-nure texts of the Karonese language into English. The problems in the process of translating the source language (SL) into the target language (TL) are the equivalences of the SL in the TL. The data are collected from Suka’s (2014) book entitled Ranan Adat: Orat Nggeluh, Rikut Bicara Kalak Karo ope Tubuh seh Idilo Dibata. Conceptual research was applied to get the data while translation and critical discourse analysis were used to analyze the data. The authors translated twenty-two data samples from the SL into the TL. They used Molina & Albir’s (2002) translation technique to translate metaphors, stylistic repetition, a poem, politeness, and cultural terms in the nure-nure text into English. The study reveals ndu, -ta, and kam are polite pronouns in the Karonese language but they are not found in English. The translation techniques of adaptation, description, transposition, calque, generalization, literal translation, modulation, compensation, amplification, and borrowing were applied when translating the SL into the TL. The authors propose using the interdisciplinary translation technique to develop Molina & Albir’s (2002) translation technique as an alternative technique to overcome the problems of equivalences in a TL.

Abstract:
Better translation produced by computation linguistics should be evaluated through linguistics theory. This research aims to describe translation techniques between Google Translate and U-Dictionary. The study used a qualitative research method with a descriptive design. This design was used to describe the occurrences of translation techniques in both translation machine, with the researchers serving as an instrument to compare translation techniques which is produced on machine. The data are from expository text entitled “Importance of Good Manners in Every Day Life”. The total data are 122 words/phrases which are pairs of translations, English as source language and Indonesia as target language. The result shows that Google Translate apply five of Molina & Albir’s (2002) eighteen translation techniques, while U-dictionary apply seven techniques. Google Translate dominantly apply literal translation techniques (86,8%) followed by reduction translation techniques (4,9%). U-dictionary also dominantly apply literal translation techniques (75,4%), but follows with the variation translation techniques (13,1%). This study showed that both machines produced different target texts for the same source language due to different applications of techniques, with U-dictionary proven to apply more variety of translation techniques than Google Translate. The researcher hopes this study can be used as an evaluation for improving the performance of machine translations.

Abstract:
The research addresses how Sundanese terms of address are translated into English. It discusses specifically the translation techniques practiced by the translator which affect the quality of the translation. The data are taken from Sundanese short stories and their translation in English. The theories exercised to find out the applied techniques are based on Molina and Albir (2002). The translation quality is examined using translation quality assessment of Nababan et al (2012). The analyses are carried out using Santosa’s methods (2017), a modification of Spreadly’s, following the analysis steps of domain, taxonomy, componential and culture findings. The results show that there are five translation techniques practiced by the translator, namely established equivalent, pure borrowings, deletion, variation, and implicit. The translation quality appears to gain 2.7. This score means that the translation is quite good. While the translation accuracy takes the highest score of 2.9, followed by acceptability 2.8, and readability having 2.5.

Abstract:
This study analyzed the translation techniques of Miyazawa Kenji's Hinoki to Hinageshi, which were translated to Indonesian as “Pohon Hinoki dan Bunga Hinageshi” by the UNPAD Press translation team. This short story tells about the life of a Hinoki tree with Hinageshi flowers that want to become a star, until one day a demon incarnates who wants to take advantage of Hinageshi flowers. In this short story, there are words that have a direct equivalent in Indonesian and those that do not have a direct word equivalent, so the aim of this study is to find the translation techniques used when translating this short story. The theory used is the theory of translation techniques by Hoed (2006), and data were collected using the literature review method. The collected data were analyzed with a distributional method. There are 7 types of translation techniques used by the translator: 1) Transposition, 2) Modulation, in the form of shifted meaning and a shift in the scope of meaning, 3) Descriptive Translation, 4) Contextual Conditioning, 5) Official/Standard Translation, and 6) Cultural Equivalent.
