Abstract:
The carrying of companion animals by air has grown into an international business involving approved vets, pet travel agencies, airlines, and animal terminals. This study investigates how the experience of transportation is shaped and draws theoretically on an approach of more-than-human mobility. In detail, I approach mobility through relationality, empathy, and caring practices by considering air transportation as an anthropocentric means of animal movement. Movement, including the specific conditions used to carry companion animals, influences the experience of mobility, triggering multispe

Draught animals still do much of the work on farms in developing countries, as well as being used for transportation. Despite the efforts made by governments to promote mechanization, tractors are not a realistic alternative for the average small farmer. Animals such as the buffalo have been used for centuries without causing any air or water pollution or soil compaction; they are an integral part of a sustainable agriculture, producing milk, meat and manure without any external cash inputs, and they buffer the farmer against crop failure and provide companionship. Abstract:
COVID-19 may have forever changed our world. Given the limited space and air circulation, potential infections on public transportation could be concerningly high. Accordingly, this study has two objectives: (1) to understand air circulation patterns inside the cabins of buses; and (2) to test the impact of different technologies in mitigating viruses from the air and on surfaces inside bus cabins. For the first objective, different devices, metrics and experiments (including colored smoke; videotaping; anemometers; pressure differentials; particle counts; and 3D numerical simulation models) w

Polster, Jens-Ulrich, Philipp Kob, Corazon Pfarre, and Sven Herzog. Monitoring and risk-adapted management of wild animals along transport routes to avoid collisions. Technische Universität Dresden, 2013. https://doi.org/10.25368/2025.123.

Abstract:
The study describes a concept of risk-adapted monitoring during the construction and expansion of transportation routes. When planning roads and railway lines, extensive monitoring before the start of the construction measures as well as after their completion can help eliminate existing forecast uncertainties regarding the impact on certain animal species. At the same time, appropriate measures should be developed or maintained, which can be implemented if an increased collision risk becomes apparent during the monitoring.
