Abstract:
This work demonstrates spectral dependencies of reflectivity and the transversal Kerr effect of a series of permalloy magnetoplasmonic crystals based on shallow lamellar diffraction gratings with a period of 500 nm, stripe’s width of 250 nm, and diffraction stripes’ heights of 28, 43, 67, and 88 nm. The fabricated magnetoplasmonic crystals show a monotonic increase of the transversal Kerr effect and the diffraction figure-of-merit with higher diffraction stripes. The maximum achieved modulation value of the transversal Kerr effect was found to be 0.78%, which can be further tuned by the period

AbstractIn this paper, we present the results of studies of the spectral, temperature, and field dependences of the transversal Kerr effect in Ga_1 – _ x Mn_ x As ( x = 0.0066–0.033) layers produced by ion implantation and subsequent pulsed laser annealing. The complicated nonmonotonous nature of the temperature dependences of the transversal Kerr effect and its dependence on the measurement range indicate a magnetic inhomogeneity of the layers. The reasons for the inhomogeneity can be the Gaussian distribution of Mn over the thickness of the layers and the electron phase separation in them. T

We studied the coefficient of reflection and transversal Kerr effect for a series of two-dimensional magnetoplasmonic crystals based on silver, permalloy Ni80Fe20 and silicon nitride Si3N4. Optical and magneto-optical properties of In(Ga)MnAs layers fabricated by laser ablation on GaAs(100) substrates were studied. t is reported about fabrication by laser deposition in a gaseous environment of epitaxial layers of ferromagnetic semiconductors GaMnSb and InMnSb. Investigations of x-ray diffraction and Raman scattering showed reasonably good crystal quality of GaMnSb and InMnSb layers. Magnetic properties were investigated by magneto-optical transversal Kerr effect and Hall effect. It is established, that GaMnSb layers are ferromagnetic at room temperature. In contrast, InMnSb samples demonstrate the ferromagnetic properties only at low temperatures (< 70 K).

This thesis presents HELIOS, an in-house laboratory for time-resolved pump-probe spectroscopy with extreme-ultraviolet (XUV) probe radiation. A wide span of pump wavelengths can be generated using commercial laser equipment while XUV probe radiation is generated via a high harmonic generation process in a noble gas delivering probe photons with energies between 20 eV and 72 eV. In a Kerr medium with instantaneous response, pure counterpropagation of scalar plane waves is dynamically stable because of conservation laws. Inclusion of diffraction provides extra degrees of freedom, and both plane waves and Gaussian beams become unstable against transverse modulation when counterpropagating in a Kerr medium, even with no explicit feedback.
