Abstract:
The plaster-casting method to create a scoliosis brace consists of mould generation and rectification to obtain the desired orthosis geometry. Alternative methods entail the use of 3D scanning and CAD/CAM. However, both manual and digital design entirely rely on the orthotist expertise. Characterisation of the rectification process is needed to ensure that digital designs are as efficient as plaster-cast designs. Three-dimensional scans of five patients, pre-, and post-rectification plaster moulds were obtained using a Structure Mark II scanner. Anatomical landmark positions, transverse sectio

1. The membrane properties of substantia gelatinosa (SG) neurons in an in vitro adult rat transverse spinal cord slice preparation with attached dorsal root have been examined. Intracellular recordings were obtained from identified SG neurons. 2. Seventy-six percent of SG neurons exhibited a time-dependent anomalous rectification (AR) when the membrane was hyperpolarized from the resting potential. The time-dependent AR was blocked by cesium (Cs+, 2 mM) but not by barium (Ba2+, 2 mM). Application of Cs+ itself caused membrane hyperpolarization in those SG neurons that expressed the time-depend

The construction of the German Nazi concentration and extermination camp Auschwitz II – Birkenau started at the end of 1941. A barrack with the current inventory no. B-138, situated at the section BI, was then erected. The barrack has documentary and historical value. The barrack walls are characterised by low stiffness, because with the building’s plan of 36.3 m × 11.4 m, the walls are only 0.12 m thick. All the outer walls have been substantially deformed or vertically deflected. Up to 156 mm wide gaps have formed between the deformed and deflected walls and contiguous walls as a result. The

In order to improve the inflow state of the combined sluice-pumping station project with a 15° transverse side angle, a Y-shaped settling diversion wall is designed, which can change its layout form according to the operation conditions of the project. To analyze the flow characteristics of the Y-shaped settling diversion wall with different parameter combinations, an orthogonal test is used in this article. Considering four factors that can affect the flow pattern—the length, width, radian and arc radius of the diversion wall—the rectifying performances of 25 diversion wall schemes were analy

It is explored the direct current which appears in superlattice on the base of graphene in transverse direction to the axis of this structure under the condition of constant electric field and elliptically polarized electromagnetic wave normally incident in the surface of the sample. The current dependence on constant electric field intensity has some peculiarities which has a nature closed to Stark resonance. The effect of direct current appearance is connected with energy spectrum non-additivity of graphene superlattice. When you are citing the document, use the following link http://ess

Abstract:
In graphene superlattice the direct current induced in perpendicular direction with relation to the superlattice axis by cnoidal and sinusoidal electromagnetic waves under the presence of longitudinal constant electric field was calculated. Direct current dependences on the cnoidal wave amplitude and on the longitudinal electric field intensity were investigated. Direct current dependence on the cnoidal wave amplitude was shown to have resonant character. Abstract:
We have previously shown that optical rectification of femtosecond laser pulses in electro-optic materials produces a Cerenkov cone of an extremely short electromagnetic pulse with a duration of ≃ 300 fsec and a frequency spectrum extending up to 6 THz1. In ionic crystals the far infrared pulse is strongly coupled to the transverse optical lattice modes, thus propagating as a polariton, i.e. a coupled phonon-photon excitation. The coherent polariton can be traced in time and space as it travels away from the generating optical femtosecond pulse.

Unsteady separated flow behind a bluff body causes fluctuating drag and transverse forces on the body, which is of great significance in many offshore and marine engineering applications. While physical experimental and computational techniques provide valuable physics insight, they are generally time-consuming and expensive for design space exploration and flow control of such practical scenarios. We present an efficient Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) based deep-learning technique to predict the unsteady fluid forces for different bluff body shapes. The discrete convolution process with a
