Abstract:
This article explores the movements of modernist bodies across Europe and the Americas in the early twentieth century. Arguing that scholarship is still insufficiently attuned to the diversity and porousness of art-forms and languages that actually characterized the period, the essay tracks the movement of dancers through an expansive Western circuit, showcasing their involvement in unsuspected forms of circulation, collaboration, and cultural exchange. Focusing in particular on Tórtola Valencia, Vaslav Nijinsky, and Charlie Chaplin, the article demonstrates the cross-cultural movements implied in their own performances and tours; but it balances this interest in the modernist traveler with a focus on the figure designated by Mary Louise Pratt as the ‘travelee’, the one who is visited. Collecting responses in multiple languages and art-forms from ‘travelees’ in the spaces through which these performers passed, it is argued, allows scholars to configure new maps of cultural modernity.

Full text
Abstract:
The paper presents a method, which applied to the ring of the ring spinning machine will improve its productivity. Through the system vibration is applied on the ring-traveller, which has effects on the centrifugal force of the traveller and helps the traveller to rotate around ring with intermittent contact. The effect of vibration on yarn tension as well as friction between the ring and the traveler and the corresponding raise in temperature of the ring during spinning are measured. An external facility is designed and incorporated in a miniature ring spinning frame to generate and apply vibration to the ring. The miniature ring spinning frame has the facility to vary twist and count of yarn and is modified to vary the spindle speed. Study shows that the ringtraveller friction is affected by the application of vibration. Results obtained with and without the applications of vibration are compared. It is found that yarn tension and friction between the ring and the traveller reduce significantly depending on the type of vibration. Therefore it can be concluded that application of vibration may be a way to reduce friction between the ring and the traveler and thus the mechanical process of twisting and winding can be done at higher speed for higher productivity which is a limiting factor of ring spinning system. Abstract:
This study examined commuting patterns among 23,141 methadone patients enrolling in 84 opioid treatment programs (OTPs) in the United States. Patients completed an anonymous one-page survey. A linear mixed model analysis was used to predict distance traveled to the OTP. More than half (60%) the patients traveled <10 miles and 6% travelled between 50 and 200 miles to attend an OTP; 8% travelled across a state border to attend an OTP. In the multivariate model (n=17,792), factors significantly (P<.05) associated with distance were, residing in the Southeast or Midwest, low urbanicity, area of the patient's ZIP code, younger age, non-Hispanic white race/ethnicity, prescription opioid abuse, and no heroin use. A significant number of OTP patients travel considerable distances to access treatment. To reduce obstacles to OTP access, policy makers and treatment providers should be alert to patients' commuting patterns and to factors associated with them.

Abstract:
The oft despised and ignored genre of travel writing was recognized as worthy of scholarly investigation in 1970s thanks to Edward Said’s Orientalism, the wave of deconstructionism, and postcolonialism (Calzati, 2015). For these scholars, travel writers do not present a transparent window to an alien space and its residents even though they normally claim it. For them the representation of the traveled terrain and travelees is an ideological construction which is tainted with the travel writer’s ‘habitus’ and ‘field’ and crafted through fictional devices. In this regard, by drawing on postcolonial methodology, the current study seeks to evince how Frembgen in his travelogue, The Closed Valley: With Fierce Friends in Pakistani Himalayas which narrates his voyage to Harban, a far-flung mountainous region in Pakistan Himalaya, reproduces the pitfalls of previous Western travel writers when he depicts his destination and travelees in negative terms. From his perspective, his timeless traveled locus is rife with violence, yet a space to escape from dehumanizing ambience of the West. Additionally, for him the women in this tribal region are tyrannized by husbands and victimized by Muslim extremists. Last but not least, he portrays this remote oriental space as an object of curiosity which needs to be salvaged textually. Keywords: Travel Writing, Timeless, Escape, Women, Violence, Curiosity

Abstract:
The paper consists of optimizing the total distance traveled by the Plasma Cutting Tool Head. It is cross-functional implementation traveling salesman problem to the core manufacturing process of plasma cutting. This study contributes to reduce the total rapid traverse length (Total Through-Air Travelled Distance) by the cutting tool (Plasma Beam), which is totally a non-productive as well as non-value adding process contributing to the machine running costs and cycle time of the product directly and indirectly. For deriving this optimal sequence for the plasma cutting head, a heuristic algorithm is used. This algorithm calculates an optimal solution for a problem creating the best possible sequence. The greedy algorithm follows the problem-solving heuristics of making a locally optimal choice at every stage, finally integrating a globally optimal solution. Hence after deducing this optimal sequence and when accompanied by the Plasma Cutting tool, it resulted in the least distance traveled, contributing to minimizing cost and energy savings of the machine and simultaneously reducing the total traveled distance and similarly the cycle time.

Abstract:
One of the most heavily traveled freeways in the United States closed for construction over weekends in 2011 and 2012. Some public officials publicized the closures by appealing to civic pride whereas others threatened nightmarish delays they dubbed “Carmageddon.” In 2011, contrary to many media predictions, traffic flowed freely at volumes far below normal levels. Our analysis finds that travelers did not switch routes, modes, or trip timing, but instead forewent thousands of trips. Travel behavior changes were far more modest and mixed during the second closure in 2012. Although the lack of traffic problems surprised many public officials, we find traveler responses to both events congruent with past research. Traveler responses to the first event were more dramatic but short-lived, while more modest but durable responses to the second event suggest that travelers learned from, and were perhaps jaded by, the histrionics surrounding the first closure.

The earliest account of this story seems to be the Old Javanesekakawin Gaoṭkacâsraya(‘Gaṭotkaca's help’), said to be composed bympuPanuluh in the late twelfth or early thirteenth century (Zoetmulder, 1974: 277). Bangladesh reported the first three laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 cases on March 8, 2020 in Dhaka and Narayanganj cities. As of April 8, 2020, 218 confirmed cases across the country, they have mostly detected from Dhaka (56.4%) and Narayanganj (21%) cities where the hotspots of an outbreak of COVID-19 disease. There were 6 cases in Dhaka district excluding metropolitan areas and rest of 43 (20%) cases in the 19 other regions. Local government-enforced completely shut down the hotspots areas on April 8 2020. However, peoples from hotspots travelled openly to the other districts. We aimed to understand the risk of open movement from hotspots. We studied 40 individuals who were infected with SARS-CoV-2 virus later at their destination. We developed a route map and density maps using Geographic Information System (GIS). Among the studied people, the average distance was 140.1 (75.1) kilometers (Km), and the range of distance was from 20.3 to 321.7 kilometers. Among them, 42.5% traveled <100 Km, 40.0% traveled between 100 and 200 Km and 17.5% traveled above 200 Km. Case numbers were increased 13.5 times more on April 20 than the cases as of April 8, 2020. Our analysis suggests that relaxed travel restriction could play an important role to spread COVID-19 transmission domestically. To reduce further spread of COVID-19, the government should closely monitor the public health intervention to stop the casual movement.

Abstract:
Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is related to a low body mass index (BMI), reduced functional capacity and reduced bone density, thus justifying the importance of evaluating all of these parameters in the patients with the disease. This is a cross-sectional study, with sample consisting of 20 patients who performed measurement of body composition by bioelectrical impedance, evaluation of functional capacity by the distance traveled in the Incremental Shuttle Walk Test (ISWT) and assessment of severity of obstruction by spirometry. Significant differences were found between the travelled and scheduled distance in the ISWT (p<0.01), positive correlations between muscle mass and distance walked in ISWT (r=0.54 with p=0.01), with FEV1 (r=0.488 with p=0.02), FEV1 and bone mass (r=0.497 with p=0.02) and distance traveled with FEV1 (r=0,541 with p=0.01). The correlations found in this study, besides confirming the hypothesis that the severity of the obstruction presented by the change in the lung parenchyma in patients with COPD is related to changes in body composition and functional capacity reduction, also highlight the correlation with bone mass.

According to the medieval Jewish sources, the members of Judaic communities belonged to various social and even racial groups. This fact sheds light on the Jews whom the Jewish traveler Petahyah of Regensburg met in the Land of Kedar in the 12th century. As the first European to claim that he travelled to China and back, Marco Polo is a celebrated traveller who described the multicultural society of Eurasia in the thirteenth to fourteenth centuries ad. However, his famed account, the Travels of Marco Polo, contains many unsolved mysteries which have generated discussion among historians, while an archaeological approach has been even less convincing because the material that may link to Marco Polo is very rare. A recent re-analysis of Chinese ceramics from a wide geographical area ranging from southern China to the Indian Ocean provides some archaeological support: it suggests that a Chinese porcelain jar housed in the Treasury of San Marco in Venice dates to the era of Marco Polo and is associated with his journey to China.

Covid-19 is a mild respiratory disease caused by coronavirus as an emergency in Public Health by many countries including Indonesia. WHO recommends Travel Warning, which was made as a rule for traveling to various countries for the Covid-19 public pandemic. Qualitative research, using content analysis agreement. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 3 informants who traveled to the country during the Covid-19 pandemic (as a Traveler) and 1 as a Stakeholder. The data generated is word-for-word transcripts and obtains content analysis used for reduction, naming data, obtaining analytic data and determining categories and themes. The results showed that what was issued by WHO Travel Warnings regarding regional entry protocols in Indonesia had not yet been approved at all airports. In addition, PSBB activities also need to be enhanced by the government's firmness and consistency, as well as efforts to impose sanctions on those who violate them. The participation of all sectors starting from the government and also the role of the community is needed to break the transmission chain of Covid-19

Abstract:
Abstract In response to the arrival of Iberian traders and missionaries on the Japanese archipelago in the sixteenth century, local craftsmen developed a unique type of lacquer, called today Nanban, for European export. They adapted traditional techniques to produce chests, writing desks, reliquaries and oratories for this new peripatetic clientele. This paper will explore the assimilation of East Asian lacquered objects within the Iberian world, treating the physical and ontological transformations that occurred as they travelled throughout the vast Iberian mercantile empire in the Indo-Pacific. The very portability of such lacquered objects engendered new realms of artistic experimentation. Like the layered quality of lacquer itself, these mobile works served as vehicles of material assemblage and hermeneutic accumulation, gathering new receptions and identities as they traveled through these Pacific networks and beyond.

Abstract:
Abstract Structural conformation and behavior are integral components in sows remaining productive in the herd. This initial investigation studied the impact of activity data on weight and the impact of sires on overall activity of group housed replacement gilts. Beginning at 19 wk of age, video recorded data of approximately 75 gilts/wk for a total of 230 gilts over 3 wk was collected for 7 consecutive d using the NUtrack system, which tracks distance travelled (m), time standing (s), eating (s), and laying (s), and angle rotated (degrees). Any d that logged for less than 24 hr were dropped from analysis. Data were analyzed using mixed models (SAS V 9.4) including random effects of dam, barn, pen, and on-test date, and fixed effects including total laying time, angle rotated, distance travelled, time standing, and sire. For 20 wk wt, the mixed model included distance, laying, angle, and standing. Sire had an effect on distance traveled (P < 0.05). The following traits also had an effect on distance: angle (P < 0.01), laying (P < 0.001), standing (P < 0.001), sitting (P < 0.01), and eating (P < 0.01). Pearson correlation coefficient showed a positive correlation between wt and laying (0.26), and negative correlations between wt and distance (-0.34), standing (-0.28) and angle (-0.42). The regression of distance on 20 wk wt yielded a regression coefficient of -0.027 (P < 0.05) m/d per lb and the model explained 11.85% of the variation in 20 wk wt. NUtrack can be utilized to track activities and distance travelled of swine in group pens. Given the results presented herein, continued investigation into the heritability of these activity traits and their association with sow longevity is warranted.

Abstract:
In this study, biodiesel fuel with a ratio of 20% volume (B20) was used on vehicles that are used in common rail injection systems, complying with Euro2 emission regulations. Laboratory and road tests were conducted to evaluate the effects of B20 on performance, emissions and engine components. Using diesel fuel and B20 as reference fuels, tests were conducted using Euro2 vehicle technology to investigate the effects on emissions, fuel consumption, and power. Durability testing was run for travel distances covering 40,000 km under various road and environmental conditions, while vehicle performance and emissions tests were conducted using the ECE R84-03 and ECE R101 test methods, respectively. The results show that B20 has lower CO and hydrocarbon (HC) emissions for every distance travelled, with an average of around 30%. Particulate emission was a bit lower, averaging 3.4% for B20 compared to B0, while NOx was found to slightly increase at around 2% for B20. Due to its lower calorific value, for an average distance traveled, the fuel economy of B20 was around 0.5% higher compared to B0. Furthermore, the maximum power of B20 was 3% lower compared to that of B0 for the entire distance traveled. However, an evaluation of engine components after 40,000 km showed that B20 and B0 were similar. Moreover, vehicles using B20 tend to have a comparable durability of engine components when compared with B0.
