<p> The goal of this thesis is to elucidate the nature of character perspective in regard to worldbuilding for a setting. My research involved delving into writing journal articles, examining the formatting of stories in how they introduced their settings, and general reading. My main focus was on fictional tales, especially those that used the traveler archetype. Also, I examined how the reader&rsquo;s view of the given world changes depending on the character whose eyes they are looking at the environment through. This thesis explores the influence of the voluminous travel literature of the eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries on the imagination of Romantic writers such as Wordsworth and Byron, with particular reference to the theme of suffering in travel. It examines the ways in which Romantic travel, and Romantic writings about travel, are often 'scripted' by a body of prior travel literature which today is largely overlooked. The travel texts in question all foreground the elements of danger and discomfort in the travelling experience, and the thesis begins by arguing that an interest in the tra

This memoir is a collection of attempts to search for a personal anchorage or home. It is a decidedly female journey for a woman's place in the world. The manuscript details the quest of a female journalist for a sense of wholeness following a childhood with a mentally ill mother. It consists of three parts: the first, an account of childhood; the second, a narrative of a search "on the road" during a journalism career; and, third, an interior quest for a life context that included faith. The journey wound through Latin America, the Caribbean, and Southwest Asia. What is "home"? Is it family?
