Leaves from the plants of Thaumatococcus daniellii and Musa paradisiaca are used for wrapping foods in Ghana. In this study, the types of phytochemicals present in the two leaves were qualitatively determined. Standard qualitative phytochemical tests by Trease and Evans, Sofowora and Harborne were employed in screening for ten selected phytochemicals. The following phytochemicals were present in T. daniellii leaf extracts; saponins, polyuronides, phenolic compounds, reducing sugars, alkaloids, flavonoids, cyanogenic glycosides, phytosterols and anthracenosides. As of January 1999, the facility had treated and recharged over 600 million gallons (2.3x10^9 L) of treated industrial waste water into local aquifers. The Chandler IPWTF accepts and treats industrial waste water from a nearby semiconductor manufacturing facility. This paper discusses the challenges this facility has faced since startup and how it has managed to overcome the effects of its diverse feed stream.

Tree rings in the Noatak National Preserve provide information about the growth of trees at the cold limit of tree survival in northwestern North America. The present study was based on cores and other tree measurements (tree basal area, height, and number per unit area) of white spruce (Picea glauca) and balsam poplar (Populus balsamifera) trees taken from 39 permanent monitoring plots (34 with coreable trees) at three locations in the Preserve.
