Full textSyftet med uppsatsen är att analysera ett tredjepartslogistiskt samarbete mellan en vinimportör och dennes distributör utifrån importörens perspektiv. Arbetet avser att lyfta fram vilken typ av relation som finns dem emellan. För att finna svaren till vår undersökning har frågor skapats utifrån valda teorier om partnerskap, samverkan och riskhantering. Frågorna har sedan ställts till personer som arbetar hos både vinimportören och distributören. Spontana samtal och en observation har genomförts i kontorsmiljön hos vinimportören. Vidare har ett studiebesök genomförts hos distributören för att studera deras lagerverksamhet. Efter analys av den empiri som vi erhållit och av utvalda teorier har vi funnit att samarbetet mellan vinimportören och distributören är mer av partnerskapskaraktär än det traditionella kund-/leverantörsförhållandet. Det som styrker detta är följande:
· Deras nuvarande relation baseras på ett ömsesidigt ge och ta.
· Det finns varken en inre konkurrens eller styrkemätning dem emellan.
· Partnerna gör vad de är bäst på inom respektive verksamhet
· Dessutom bedriver de inom vissa områden ett gemensamt utvecklingsarbete, vilket slutligen leder till en vinst för båda parter.
Vi har även funnit att stabiliteten i partnerskapet är hög, de har arbetat ihop under lång tid, men graden av närhet i partnerskapet kan anses vara låg. Dessutom visar studien att vin-importören och distributörens partnerskap bygger på mellanting mellan ett främjande och integrerat samarbete. Vidare har vi funnit att den miljö de verkar i är väldigt styrd av Systembolaget.

Full textCase studies shows that the construction time of a project can be lowered by 15–20 percent with good and effective logistics. There are a lot of studies that shows the consequences that an inadequate logistic can result in. Scientists claims that the inefficiency and higher costs in construction are cause of the inadequate logistics. Through clear and good communication it is possible to make changes in group and amongst individuals. To make a change you need to watch over some factors, for example the way people speak and understand the language that is being spoken, also what kind of framing and routines a project has. This study was made because Peab Väst had noticed flaws in their thirdpartylogistic flow in some of their projects. The goal with the investigation was to identify any eventual improvements that could be made with their communication and routines within the flow and also to come up with improvement proposals within these. In order to answer the questions of issue the authors looked towards people's experiences and knowledge of the situation to be an important part and therefore interviews were chosen as a method. The interviews showed that the experience around communication and routines were varied. The majority of the people interviewed claimed that most of the problems occured at the start of the project and that there were missing clear written routines. The routines that were existing had been developed during the project and were mostly orally made. Issues around who were in charge in a certain area and when also appeared. The authors considered that many of the problems are based on the fact that PEAB does not have a common basic package that is used when the project is started. A common basic package would counteract many of the problems and misunderstandings that occur in the start and also shorten the period until the flow works. Developing the information and routines about who that is in charge for what and when could also lead to less risk of errors in the flow, the authors considered.

Full textDuring the past five year online retailers have started to outsource their warehouse and logistics to third-party logistic providers. Online retailers’ reason for outsourcing are the possibility to develop a tailored solution, with regards to their businesses’ needs, as well as doing it together with a partner whom is an expert on warehouse management and logistics. However, outsourcing is a problematic and major decision for online retailers to make. Especially since they do not necessarily know how to specify their needs and select the best possible solution for their businesses. Additionally, online retailers find it challenging to incorporate third-party logistic providers and use their abilities and expertise optimally. Online retailers’ demand for tailored solutions stresses third-party logistic providers’ operations since they have to adapt their offering to multiple customers, which requires flexibility, resources, and knowledge. In addition, third-party logistic providers are accustomed to traditional industries. Therefore, they lack understanding of online retailers’ preferences and does not know how to create value in the process from an initial contact to an ongoing relationship. In summary, there are huge demands on third-party logistic providers that have chosen to focus on online retailers. Therefore, the authors of this thesis have decided to investigate the process. More specifically the purpose of this thesis is to investigate by which activities third-party logistic providers can effectively increase online retailers perceived value in the sales process’ phases. In order to achieve the purpose of this thesis the authors have applied theory of value, value-creation, and sales processes to design a model of analysis and develop the main study. With respect to the model of analysis a workshop was used, where online retailers got to place cards (representing benefits) in a sales process with five phases (representing the relation between online retailers and third-party logistic providers) to give the authors a basis for analysis. The online retailers had to select if they perceived a benefit to be of importance during different phases. Thereafter, each phase was analysed to pair benefits with activities that was found in theory about sales processes. By adjusting each activity with respect to data from the main study, each analysis resulted in activities that can be performed by third-party logistic providers in order to increase online retailers perceived value. Conclusions from the assays were then used to build a framework, structuring how third-party logistic providers should focus its resources and organize its activities in the phases of the sales process. Along with the authors’ recommendations the framework provides a structure for third-party logistics providers to be used in order to increase online retailers perceived value.

Full textIt has become fairly common for a company to outsource one or several of its logistic activities to a party separate from the business of the company itself. Since the original agreement usually involves two parties, the seller and the buyer, the logistics company is called the third party. The relationship between the outsourcing company and the third party varies in form and in depth but can sometimes be very close, almost to be considered a joint venture. When the co-operation between the two parties includes more than just one separate logistic service and the third party adapts its business to a certain extent to his principals needs, it constitutes third party logistics.
If the logistics company, or a party employed by it, becomes insolvent when having the entrusted goods in his possession questions may arise concerning the right to the property. The company in bankruptcy in most cases has no claims of its own to the property. It is normally the creditors of the insolvent party who claim that the property ought to be a part of the bankrupt’s estate. According to the principal rule the owner of property always has the right to separation of his property. There are however several cases when thisright of separation is set aside to protect other interests.
The goods kept by the third party are very often homogenous products since one of the advantages of engaging a third party is connected to large-scale transportation or large-scale stock-keeping. In such a situation the goods can be mixed with similar goods for practical reasons. When the owner has the ability of identifying his goods among the others by presenting a mark or a separate container in which his goods are placed his right to separation remains. However, if he doesn’t have the ability to do so he loses that right and is left with nothing but a right to claim a certain value in the bankruptcy. This often means the same thing as being left with nothing.
The logistics business has developed into consisting of more than traditional logistic activities such as for example transportation. A third party logistics company often takes part in the packaging or distribution process. This way the third party sometimes becomes a part of the manufacturing chain. This has lead to another situation in which the original owner of the goods may lose his right to the goods. In spite of having contributed with all the material and instructions to manufacture a product, the principal may lose his right to the goods if they are transformed to such a large extent that they can be seen as something completely different from the material given at first. Even when the two parties have agreed that the right to the final product should be given to the original owner of the material the conflict might anyhow remain between him and the third party’s creditors.
These issues involving creditors’ claims are implied by force. Therefore there is usually no way for the outsourcing company to protect itself against them by means of a contract. One of the objects of this dissertation is to shed light upon these problems. Another object of my work is to map out the current legislation and precedent in order to evaluate it to see how well it serves its purposes.

Full textThe demand for shorter lead-times and increased delivery reliability puts pressure on companies to provide more efficient logistic services. One strategy to deal with this demand is by outsourcing logistics to a third part. The development of logistics information systems enables increased control over business supply chains. This is why Green Cargo aims to create a Logistics Control Tower (LCT) solution to provide it’s customers with better information with higher availability. One such system is the Green Cargo control tower solution, which aims to improve information quality and availability alike. This is also the origin of this thesis at Green Cargo Division Logistics. The aim of this project was to identify the information needs in the logistic processes connected to Green Cargo Division Logistics, and to present a requirement specification for a LCT. The LCT will be designed to work as an information and decision support system. The main source of information was collected through interviews with customers of Green Cargo, as well as personnel at Green Cargo.
The research findings suggest that there is potential for improvement within the information flow between Green Cargo and the other parties involved in the logistic process. A need for improved information flows and communication became apparent through the investigation. We therefore suggest that Green Cargo develops a LCT containing functions such as cost follow-up, statistics, stock level information, order information, proof of delivery, track&trace, notification, environment information, and invoice control. Whilst some of these functions are yet to be introduced, others are basic functions already provided for by Green Cargo, but could nonetheless be improved. Most of the suggested functions are generated through the customers needs while invoice control and automated notification is a demand from Green Cargo personnel. A web interface with the possibility to adapt the content to different customers could serve as a solution to these needs. Input to the LCT is collected from different information systems such as vendor management systems and databases at logistic service providers.

Full textA lot of progress is today made in the Construction Industry regarding logistics and external support functions. A large focus has the last year been put on building logistics and a lot of the larger Contractors has internally developed logistic tools as a measure to systematize their logistics process. This master thesis therefore aims to reflect over the possibilities with such an internal logistic tool, and how the field of application can augment. The master thesis has further investigated third party logistics (TPL) and if it is possible to systematize different types of TPL-solutions and what the entrepreneurs needs are of a solution as such. It has been found that the internal logistic solution can be used further by adding external stores as material zones. The internal logistic solution is well anchored and appreciated at NCC – its’ development potential therefor big. In TPL-solutions where more than one contractor is working with a common logistician, it has shown that the internal logistic solution is more difficulty applied due to the common layout of the logistics, with the belonging logistic tools. Regarding systematization of TPL-solutions, some categorization can be made. It has also shown that NCC internally uses several of these types. Depending on the extent of the service the logistician provides, the setup for NCC is different and a categorization contributes to a standardized approach for NCCs own logistic management. The contractors needs in a TPL-solution has shown to be rather uncomplicated to phrase, but more difficult to actually apply. What the contractor needs of a TPL-solution is a flexible plan that can be modified during the project. It is also a demand that the TPL-solution has the capacity of managing the flow of material throughout the entire project, which may vary greatly during the project. Building logistics is as mentioned above a very current and up-to-date topic, and one of the premier reasons is the improved work environment that has shown to be a result of a carefully prepared layout of the logistic. By having a structured and orderly project site, the work environment is improved for all project members. That a well conducted logistic layout can contribute to improved work environment creates a big competitive advantage since safety many times is vital in the construction industry.

Full textThe construction industry in Sweden today is producing new housing far too slow. At the same time older housing and housing areas are in need of renovating. In general this puts high requirements on the building industry and the requirements become elevated on the construction logistics.A lot of regions in Sweden have increased the building speeds in order to finish the goals set in the construction business, especially in the Stockholm region. In a urban area such as Stockholm where there is a high building pace, the logistics is obstructed. In this geographical complexity there are solutions to the building logistics, and the solution is third party logistics.A third party contractor is applied in the project and manages either parts or the whole of the logistics. They coordinates, plan deliveries and optimize the material-flow to the construction site with a number of different services. From the beginning of the year 2000 modern logistics has become more advanced with third party logistics. This modern logistic is nowadays a competitive strategy between different companies in the construction business.Sundbyberg county is one of the densest populated and fastest growing parts of the Stockholm region. In this area almost all type of constructions exists ranging from offices, housing, public transportations, stores, and general services for the community. Project Orgeln 7, where the project originates from, is located in central Sundbyberg.With higher construction in a densed populated area such as Sundbyberg a higher knowledge of third party logistics is required. This is necessary in order to manage construction in a complex working environment. With the right conditions on the construction site third party logistics will make the building logistics more efficient. This will finally lead to both time and money saved which will contribute to a more profitable production. Third party logistics also contributes to a possible improvement of working environment and a decreased chance of material going to waste at the construction site.The purpose with this report is that through interviews, field observations, literary studies and time studies on site, students get a deeper understanding of how third-party logistics affects the economy of a construction project and how production is affected temporally.Part of the conclusion in this report points out that if the knowledge of third party logistics within a construction site is lacking, this will be difficult to apply. If third party logistics gets to advance to fast, and if people who will be working with this, lacks the knowledge there will be imbalance. This imbalance could lead to third party logistics getting less prioritized.

Full textÅlö AB är ett globalt företag inom tillverkning av frontlastare till traktorer med mer än 50 hästkrafter. Det är världsledande inom sin bransch med fabriker i fyra länder på tre kontinenter samt elva säljföretag över hela världen. Trots detta har Ålö mindre än 1000 anställda inom hela koncernen. Detta medför att det finns begränsade resurser att tillhandahålla stora leveransflöden som sträcker sig över hela världen och som vanligtvis används av företag flera gånger större än Ålö i storlek. Ålö använder sig i dag av ett externt företag som sköter deras lagerhållning en bit ifrån fabriken i Brännland utanför Umeå. Nu har Ålö identifierat en potentiell kostnadsbesparing genom att inscourcea lagerhållning till fabriken i Brännland. Men för att göra detta kommer det krävas att se över lagernivåerna då det råder begränsad yta att lagerhålla material vid fabriken. Syftet med det här examensarbetet är att skapa en simuleringsmodell som kan simulera produktionen i fabriken och ta fram en ny formel för säkerhetslager. Med hjälp av denna modell ska formeln för säkerhetslager valideras och utvärderas samt att lagernivåerna ska reduceras utan att påverka produktionen negativt. Den simuleringsmodell som är framtagen inom examensarbetets ram simulerar produktionen av den nya lastarmodellen Quicke Series. Modellen är skriven i Visual Basic for Applications och exekveras i Excel. I simuleringen ska produktionen efterliknas på bästa möjliga sätt. Med det menas att antalet lastare, variationer på modeller, leveranser, förseningar, fellevererat, produktionsfel, kvalitetsfel och standardavvikelser på efterfrågan samt ledtider ska vara så lik verkligheten som möjligt. Tanken med simuleringsmodellen är att man ska kunna utvärdera hur en förändring av olika slag kan påverka produktionen och se utfallet av en förändring även om flertalet parametrar förändras. En förändring av en parameter kan vara allt från leverantörsbyten, förändring av säkerhetslagernivåer, förändring av ledtider eller införandet av nya lastarmodeller. Resultatet visar att det finns en stor potential att kunna minska nuvarande lager. Om resultatet från modellen jämförs med det historiska lagersaldot för olika artiklar är det möjligt att minska lagret med upp till 90%. Resultat från simuleringsmodellen visar att även för de så kallade problemartiklarna som leverantörer har problem att leverera till Ålö så ska lagernivåerna ökas, vilket validerar modellens tillförlitlighet.

Full textTredjepartslogistik är en företeelse som under de senaste åren kommit att bli vanligt förekommande både i Sverige och internationellt. Själva företeelsen som sådan innebär att ett företag eller liknande genom avtal låter en tredjepartslogistiker ombesörja sitt behov av transporter, lagerhållning, förpackning, enklare montering etcetera. Sett ur ett juridiskt perspektiv ger just själva avtalet, det vill säga tredjepartslogistikavtalet, upphov till spörsmål angående hur detta är att klassificera. Ett så pass ingående samarbete mellan tredjepartslogistikern och dennes motpart som tredjepartslogistik typiskt sett utgör kan enligt associationsrättsliga grunder komma att ge upphov till ett enkelt bolag snarare än ”enbart” ett köpare-säljare-förhållande mellan parterna. Om så kan bedömas vara fallet uppkommer möjligheten att avtalsparterna kommit att åtaga sig mer juridiskt långtgående förpliktelser visavi varandra än vad dessa är medvetna om eller önskat vid avtalets ingående.
Med utgångspunkt i associations- och köprättslig lagstiftning utreds i denna uppsats utifrån vilka omständigheter det kan avgöras huruvida avtal om tredjepartslogistik är att se som bildande av ett enkelt bolag eller köp av tjänst samt vilka de juridiska följderna blir av ett sådant avgörande. Som komplement till de sedvanliga rättskällorna har två avtal om tredjepartslogistik som används av svenska tredjepartslogistiker begagnats.
I uppsatsen har funnits att det är främst förekomsten eller avsaknandet av ett gemensamt vinständamål mellan logistikern och dennes motpart som är av störst betydelse för hur avtal om tredjepartslogistik är att klassificera. Vad gäller de juridiska följderna har vidare konstaterats att det föreligger principiella snarare än faktiska materiella skillnader mellan den associations- och köprättsliga lagstiftningen i det nu utredda fallet. Exempelvis kan nämnas skillnader avseende formerna för beslutsfattande och fördelning av uppkommen vinst mellan parterna i anledning av avtalet. Avsaknandet av mer påtagliga differenser kan i synnerhet förklaras med det omfattande bruket av dispositiv lagstiftning, vilket medför att den avtalsmässiga reglering som parterna själva ombesörjer tillmäts störst juridisk dignitet.
Thirdpartylogistics and related services are offered by most international logistic companys. Besides the undertaking of mere transports, thirdpartylogistics typically includes the execution of other services such as storage, repacking and assembling the clients products. From a legal point of view agreements concerning thirdpartylgistics raises the issue regarding how to legally classify the agreement in question. The thorough cooperation between the logistic company and its client needed to perform the agreed services could in accordance with Swedish company and partnership regulations give rise to partnership constellation rather than a purchase of a service. This could in turn result in that the parties involved have accepted more far-reaching legal obligations towards one another than wished for or intended.
In this thesis the above mentioned issues concerning the legal classification of agreement thirdpartylogistics are further exeplored with starting point in Swedish company and partnerhip law. Furthermore are the legal consequences of such classifacation in respect to the concerned parties obligations obligations towards each other thouroughly examined.
In the thesis it has been found that the most decisive circumstance to consider regarding the legal classifiaction of agreements concerning thirdpartylogistics is the presence or lack of joint earnings between the parties in question. Regarding the legal consequences it has been found that altough there are considerably principle differences between a partnership agreement and purchase dito, the de facto differences however seems to be of a more moderat kind. This could be explained by the extensive use of non-mandatory legislation in Swedish partnership law.

Full textSyfte: Extern logistiksamordning beslutades efter en utdragen upphandlingsprocess samtidigt som delar av projektet Vallastaden redan påbörjat byggnation. Det externa logistikföretaget dimensionerar och implementerar en helt fungerande lösning på kort tid. Kommunen har inte formellt anslutningskrav på byggherrarna utan har överlåtit till tredjepartslogistikern att ingå avtal med byggherrarna. Målet är att undersöka hur implementeringen av den externa tredjeparts-logistiklösningenpåverkar entreprenaden Bostadshuset samt hur en extern tredjeparts-logistiklösningarbetar värdeskapande för byggentreprenören. Metod: För datainsamling har observation samt intervju använts som metoder i arbetet. Resultat: För att skapa goda förutsättning för en byggherre och/eller byggentreprenör vid implementering av en centralt beslutat externt tredjepartslogistiklösning så krävs: Tidig involvering av tredjepartslogistikentreprenören i projekteringsskedet med mottot ”först och sist på plats vid produktion” Tydliga och väl utarbetade förutsättningar vid upphandling med anslutningskrav samt möjligheten till anpassning av den tekniska lösningen utefter kundens identifierade behov. Öppen och kontinuerlig dialog i alla led inom organisationsstrukturen. Konsekvenser: Komplexiteten kring hur byggprojekt ska planera sin logistik gör att en hantering av frågan i tidigt skede i projekten är avgörande. Om potentialen i tredjepartslogistik för byggprojekt ska nyttjas behöver dialog föras tidigt mellan de inblandade parterna där projektets förutsättningar måste styra hur tjänsten ska utformas. Begränsningar: Författarna har inte hittat källan till varför det har varit svårt att implementera tredjepartslogistiklösningen i ett tidigt skede i Vallastaden. Det som framkommit under arbetets gång är att det behöver sökas svar högre upp i organisationsstrukturen för Vallastaden, men där har arbetets avgränsningar gjort att detta prioriterats bort och behandlas därför inte i denna rapport. Valda metoder riktar sig enbart på Skanskas verksamhet inom Vallastaden. Alternativa synpunkter från olika byggherrar och byggentreprenörer inom Vallastaden har delvis uppmärksammats vid logistikmöten. Det är viktigt att poängtera att arbetet enbart innehåller ett begränsat antal synvinklar på centralt beslutad tredjepartslogistik utifrån de många aktörer som är en del av projektet Vallastaden.

Full textToday's increasingly globalized world requires simple means to generate economic profitability. The increasing globalization of the current communication possibilities promotes the move of production and activities to other destinations, to achieve a higher level of competition and obtain cheaper operating costs. Offshore outsourcing involves moving production from the internal commission to an external unit specialized in directing and conducting this activity. Activities instituting offshore outsourcing submit core and non-core processes to external parties, who perform the same work as the internal organization but for a lower cost. In the literature, it appears that offshore outsourcing generates lower costs, increased flexibility, increased use of technology and access to expertise. Offshoring involves the movement of business functions across national borders, which means that they can achieve reductions in costs, strategic resources and retain market share against competitors. The driving forces to why organizations move their production is due to the Transaction Cost Perspective that most companies holds. The Transaction Cost Perspective is an approach that defines all aspects of the introduction of offshore outsourcing and offshoring. The aim is to investigate the reasons for the moving the core and non-core processes and analyzing the harmful effects that come with such an organizational change. The study will answer how the motives and effects of offshore outsourcing differ from the motives and effects of offshoring. In a questionnaire that has been created based on the theory of offshore outsourcing and offshoring two different businesses were interviewed about their experiences of each concept. Based on the interviews, it has emerged that there are similarities and differences from the literature. The operations, however, has a common factor in the adoption of offshore outsourcing and offshoring, which are cost advantages. The decision behind why an organization to implement offshore outsourcing or offshoring circulates around a number of aspects, depending on their organizational structure and relations. This study should help future businesses and individuals to get a deeper insight on the two concepts to hopefully influence their choices at the introduction of rational organizational changes.

Full textPostNord Logistics TPL AB (PostNord) is one of the largest third-party logistics providers in the Nordics. At the tire warehouse in Norrköping, PostNord performs logistics activities within inbound, storage, production and outbound for several retailers/distributors. Labor is by far the largest cost and hence the management focuses on productivity, for example by efficiency and improving precision in workforce management. The purpose of this study was therefore to develop a cost model based on Time-Driven Activity-Based Costing (TDABC) for the warehouse operations, which can be applied to support PostNord’s efforts to drive productivity. TDABC is a methodology to estimate the consumption of resources such as personnel and equipment caused by different transactions, products or customers. By modelling activities in time equations which are based on time estimates it is possible to show what impacts time consumption (man-hours required). Time equations for the three activities assembly, receiving and putaway were developed. The approach included verifying and processing data, regression analyses, time studies, interviews, observations and finalization and validation of the cost models in Excel. The finalized models proved to be reasonable and to offer promising precision day-to-day. Next, four user interfaces were developed; what-if analyses for assembly, receiving and putaway as well as staff scheduling for assembly. Via usability tests inspired by the think-aloud method it was shown that the applications were usable and expected to support the efforts to drive productivity by efficiency and precision in staffing. In the literature, there is an articulated need for further studies of the TDABC methodology, including the design process for TDABC and specifically the development of time estimates for the time equations. This study contributes to the methodology in the following four ways. 1) An overall method (process) for TDABC which future studies may utilize. 2) Learnings about specific aspects of the overall method regarding interviews, verifying and processing data, as well as the use of regression analysis and time study. 3) Examples of characteristics of the finalized cost models and implications of them. 4) Guidance regarding important choices for the modelling of time equations and implications of them.

Full textI en omvärld där allting ska effektiviseras och mätas så är det av yttersta vikt att snabbt kunna följa upp sin verksamhet, kunna följa upp sina nyckeltal och spåra de förändringar som företaget implementerar. En stor del i detta förbättringsarbete ligger i företags logistiska verksamhet och för att kunna koncentrera sig på sina kärnkunskaper väljer många att outsourca delar av sin verksamhet. Denna kandidatuppsats beskriver arbetet före en outsourcing och hur ett företags nyckeltal förändras i och med denna. Uppsatsen är upplagd som en fallstudie där företaget presenteras och bakgrund till händelserna redogörs för. Data har samlats in och analyserats och därefter diskuterats. Målet med uppsatsen var att klargöra om det går att se några markanta, mätbara förändringar i företagets nyckeltal för perioden före och perioden efter outsourcingen. Dessa presenteras och jämförs tillsammans med analyser kring vad förändringarna kan bero på. Funnet i arbetet är att det har skett en ekonomisk förändring för transportavdelningens del, men vad denna förändring beror på är svårt att klarlägga då de ändrat på vissa parametrar i sin avräkning. Under resultatet så bekräftas att det finns variationer för tiden före och tiden efter outsourcingen, men även variationer mellan de två åkerierna som verksamheten har outsourcats till. Dessa behandlas djupare under analysen där vissa synpunkter på anledningen till variationerna och skillnaderna mellan åkerierna tas upp. Slutligen presenteras några slutsatser från arbetet och även rekommendationer till företaget för hur de bör göra i framtiden.

Full textLogistik inom byggbranschen är ett område där det finns stora möjlig- heter för förbättringar och effektiviseringar. En stor andel av yrkesarbe- tarnas arbetstid går idag åt till icke värdeskapande aktiviteter. Under- sökningar har visat att endast 50 % av arbetstiden används till effektivt arbete. (Byggchefen, 2006) Det tillsammans med andra former av slöseri leder till stora kostnader. Slöseriet i byggprojekt uppskattas vara så stort som 30-35 % av projektetens produktionskostnad. (Josephson & Saukkoriipi, 2005) Syftet med examensarbetet är att genom intervjuer, enkäter och obser- vationer undersöka logistikproblem inom byggbranschen. Två av Skanskas byggprojekt i Uppsala undersöks i denna rapport för att iden- tifiera problem. Målet med examensarbetet är att ta fram lösningsför- slag som förbättrar arbetsmiljö och effektivitet genom förbättrade lös- ningar kring logistik. Rapporten visar att företag inom byggbranschen bör satsa på utomstå- ende tjänster med smarta logistiklösningar för att förbättra arbetsmiljö och effektivitet. Lösningar som kan användas är behovsstyrda leveran- ser och tredjepartslogistik med tjänster som sampackning, mellanlag- ring och inbärningstjänster. Tjänsterna kan vara bra att använda även då omständigheterna runt projektet ej kräver det eftersom det ger bättre arbetsmiljö och effektivitet. Rekommendationer ges till att ha tydliga rutiner och utse en ansvarig person för mottagning av material. Samarbete och kommunikation med övriga aktörer i försörjningskedjan är viktig. Även planering och upp- följning av denna är nödvändig för att logistiken ska kunna fungera på ett effektivt sätt.

Full textBakgrunden till detta arbete har varit att, på uppdrag av Green Cargo Road&Logistics, finna möjligheter att sänka kapitalbindningen vid Goodyears nordenlager i Norrköping. Lageromsättningshastigheten är i nuläget inte tillfredställande och även en generell minskning av lagernivåerna är önskvärd.
En nulägesanalys har genomförts medelst intervjuer och studiebesök. Därefter har en grundlig litteraturstudie och en detaljstudie av ett urval artiklar i lagersystemet utförts. Utifrån dessa båda studier samt utförd problemanalys rekommenderas ett antal förslag på förbättringsåtgärder.
Studien visar att lagerstyrningssystemet inte på ett godtagbart sätt klarar av att ta hänsyn till nordenmarknadens säsongsvariationer. Bristsituationer är vanligt förekommande tidigt under säsong samtidigt som överbeställningar sker i slutet på säsong. För dubbade och monterade artiklar kan i många fall höga lagernivåer och låg lageromsättningshastighet observeras, detta beroende på den process förädlingen medför. Ytterligare en faktor som starkt bidrar till komplexiteten är i detta fall det stora antalet artiklar i systemet. Dessutom kan ett stort antal artiklar iakttagas där lagernivåerna ligger relativt högt konstant över såväl hög- som låg säsong, där dessutom omsättningen är låg.
Ett antal åtgärdsförslag med rekommendationer föreslås i sex punkter. Åtgärdsförslagen rekommenderar ett lagerstyrningssystem bättre anpassat till nordenmarknadens kraftiga säsongsvariationer. Karaktäristikan med påtagliga säsongsvariationer bidrar till stora prognosfel och lagerstyrningssystemet behöver på ett bättre sätt hantera prognosavvikelserna. Detta inkluderar en reviderad partiformningsmetod, då det nuvarande användandet av metoden TBO inte ger tillfredställande resultat.
I dagsläget är förädlingen en flaskhals i lagersystemet, varvid ett införskaffande av högkapacitetsdubbningsmaskiner skulle höja lageromsättningshastigheten. Ytterligare en åtgärd vilken skulle höja lageromsättningshastigheten är en bättre bevakning av inaktuella artiklar. För lågvolymartiklar med avsevärd hög lagernivå i förhållande till prognos bör en översyn utföras och en rutin för övervakning av dessa skapas.

Full textThis is a study, the purpose of which is to investigate how the construction company Sefab Bygg AB is able to increase its profitability and render a more efficient production process through logistic solutions. The study is made during one of Sefab´s present projects. The project includes sanitary renovation of 650 apartments in the co-operative Opalen in Norrköping.
To find out whether changes of logistic routines are profitable or not, it’s necessary to evaluate the total cost of the changes. A total cost analysis is a mapping of all the costs for a particular material, on one hand for the present situation and on the other after the change. This report includes a description of the present situation. It also includes case studies, to map the flow of material at Sefab today. Suggestions of interesting alternative solutions, has then been developed. With the help of studies and contacts with suppliers an estimate of costs for the suggested changes can be made.
Suggestions of changes for Sefab´s logistic routines are "just in time" deliveries and the use of a third parts logistic company even called TPL-company. The TPL-company can offer services such as transports, warehouse and different jobs at the construction site.
The result in this study tells us that "just in time" deliveries, is not a profitable solution for Sefab. It would result in a higher total cost and will only make the production slightly more efficient. The services from a TPL-company would on the other hand increase Sefabs profitability and result in a more efficient production process.

Full textWorkplace logistics in the construction industry has been investigated for many years and there are great opportunities for improvement. It has been found that through improved logistics, profits can be increased. In recent years, a new branch of logistics has emerged, third-party logistics. The exam is investigating whether third party logistics with carrying support to the installation site is a profitable alternative for Hulta Torg, as well as establishing an internal workplace deployment plan and presenting a proposal that will benefit production. The essay has been conducted through literature studies and interviews. The literature study has focused on building logistics and third-party logistics and the interviews have been conducted with different occupational roles in the construction industry. The results show that there are shortcomings in communication generally in the construction industry and that there is room for improvement in the industry. It is primarily the dialogue between the main contractor and the subcontractor, as well as the notification between the supplier and the contractor, is lacking. The use of a third-party logistics to handle the delivery of materials benefits the industry and it has been found that it is most likely to increase in the future. The result presents an internal workplace deployment plan that describes where materials should be placed to get as efficient internal logistics as possible. In order to improve communication, it is proposed that each morning have a meeting between the main contractor and the subcontractor where the activities of the day are discussed. A schedule of delivery plans that anyone can access and update is also recommended. The contractor must make higher demands on the supplier and have it in the agreement. If not followed, this will not be accepted. The cost of a third-party logistics is more expensive than if the contractor did it himself but they gain production hours and that a critical part like the lift is used for a larger part of the day. On the inner workplace deployment plan, the material is placed near where it should be mounted and the gypsum is placed in the middle of the rooms where no inner wall will stand.

Full textA shift towards a higher interest in locally produced food is in motion. With the increased interest, producers also need to be able to provide the amount of food demanded. Today, producers have difficulty in achieving current and increased customer demand due to costly transportations and too little foodproduction. Local manifactures do not currently have the opportunity to profitably sell to the ammount of customers desired as they do not meet the minimm requirements that the shipping companies have for cooperation.The purpose of this survey is to develop a proposal for a logistics model that can be used by people in the category of locally produced food in Gävleborg County.For the reason that there is not much earlier research and theory on the subject, an inductive approach has been used. In order to obtain relevant information, a quantitative and qualitative approach has been used, with a quantitative questionnaire and qualitative interviews and observations. The creation of questionnaires and interview questions has been done in consultation with local producers and other people and associations which are in some way engaged in locally produced food.Some of the secondary sources used in the study of the questionnaire and interview questions, the proposal of the logistics model, as well as support for the gathering of empirical data include Hub and Spoke, Supply Chain Management, Third Party Logistics, Packagings Tasks and Planning of Transport.The study also analyzed the various sales channels that local food producers use. Some of these are grocery stores, farm shops, restaurants and public kitchens.The end results of the study is presented with a proposal for a logistics model which, as a starting point, has given the producers more time to expand their core business, which is to produce food. This is done through a shipping solution with third party logistics companies, standardized packages for easy loading and prerequisites for reaching out to a larger market. As a result, this leads to increased employment and aims at the goal of Gävleborg County to become self-sufficient.

Authors: Jacob Holm & Amer Basic Examiner: Helena Forslund Tutor: Hana Hulthén Background: PostNord TPL in Ljungby is one of the actors that has developed an interest in RFID, and it all started with a request for RFID technology from their largest customer (Customer X). Customer X requests an RFID tag at the item level, among other things, to take advantage of such technology during stock inventory. In order for PostNord TPL:s largest customer to be able to take the step towards implementing an RFID solution in the stores, it is required that the warehouse in Ljungby implements the technology first. PostNord TPL:s idea, according to the customer's desire to offer them this service, is that all RFID labeling of Customer X items takes place at the warehouse in Ljungby. This study is unique in its kind, partly because there is a large research gap in the existing research theory using RFID technology within TPL, but also because the study focuses on RFID labeling at article level. Purpose: The purpose of the study is to propose guidelines for an implementation of RFID within TPL in the inbound and outbound process. The guidelines contain a categorization of relevant variables for RFID implementation as well as the implementation process and cost calculation. Methodology: This study is a case study at the company PostNord TPL in Ljungby. The researchers have applied a pattern comparison where the theory and empiricism have been compared. The empirics have been collected through goal-directed selection and snowball selection, where semi-structured and unstructured interviews with a number of different actors have been conducted. The study is based on a qualitative research method with a deductive approach. Conclusion: The study has analyzed three research questions, where the first is more general within TPL and the other two focus on PostNord TPL conditions. The study has produced suggestions on which variables are relevant when implementing RFID within warehousing operations in TPL and how they can be categorized. Furthermore, the study has developed in which inventory management process RFID can be implemented at PostNord TPL and what such an implementation process can look like. Finally, three different cost calculations have also been produced for an RFID implementation in the inbound and outbound process at PostNord TPL.

- Vad blir kostnaden om det externa transportföretaget även tillhandahåller konsolideringspunkter, alltså en terminal för uppsamling av gods, i de städer där företaget har fler än en butik, och vad kommer att förändras, jämfört med nuläget?
I examensarbetet finns ett beslutsunderlag bestående av två delar. Första delen innehåller en nulägesbeskrivning över kostnaderna för den befintliga transportlösningen. Den andra delen består av två kostnadsförslag från det externa transportföretaget. Det första visar vad det skulle kosta företaget om transportföretaget skulle sköta företagets transporter till slutkonsument. Det andra är en utökning av det första med tillägg avseende kostnader för konsolideringspunkter tillhandahållna av transportföretaget.
Nulägesbeskrivningen togs fram genom utskickade enkäter till företagets butiker i Stockholms- och Göteborgsområdet. Kostnadsförslagen togs fram av det externa transportföretaget med hjälp av datan från nulägesbeskrivningen.
Utöver kostnadsförslagen presenteras en alternativ lösning. En av slutsatsen är att på grund av bristfällig information från butikerna är kostnadsförslagen och nulägesbeskrivningen framtagna i detta examensarbete inte hundra procent tillförlitliga. På grund av detta drogs ytterligare en slutsats om att ett användande av ett tredjepartslogistikföretag kan ge kontroll över kostnaderna.
The purpose of this thesis is to, in the long-term, reduce a company's costs regarding transportation from store to the final consumers. To achieve this, the following questions are answered in this thesis:
- What does the company’s transport solution cost them today?
- What is the cost to hire an external carrier to handle all transports to the final consumer and what will change compared to the current situation?
- What is the cost if the external carrier also provides consolidation points, a terminal for gathering goods, in those cities where the company has more than one store and what will change compared to the current situation?
This thesis contains support for decisions consisting of two parts. The first part contains a description of the current situation and the costs concerning the existing transport solution. The second part contains an estimate of cost from the external carrier containing two different quotations. The first quotation shows what it would cost the company if the carrier would handle the company’s shipments to the final consumer. The second quotation is an extension of the first quotation with additional costs related to consolidation points provided by the carrier.
The description of the current situation was developed by questionnaires sent out to the company’s stores in the areas of Gothenburg and Stockholm. The quotations were presented by the external carrier by using data from the description of the current situation.
Also there is an alternative solution presented. One conclusion is that, due to insufficient information from the stores, the quotations and the description of the current situation in this report aren’t one hundred percent reliable. Because of this it was further concluded that using a third-party logistics provider can give the company control over the costs.

Full textHusqvarna AB operates two warehouses located in the area of Jönköping. The most important task is to manage the large volume fluctuations during the peak season. DHL Exel Supply Chain (DESC) run the warehouses and the domestic transportations is outsourced to DHL Express. A number of forwarder agents are responsible for distributing the export gods. In the present situation a bottleneck occurs at the warehouse loading section, and the consequence is fulfill the time of delivery for all customer orders. The underlying bottleneck cause is also the key question for the thesis. The purpose of the thesis is to investigate the reason why the areas of out loading during peak season becomes a bottleneck in the material flow, and provide relevant solutions for the problem. The thesis study has progressed during normal season, and interviews are the main source of information, with support from observations and statistic data, The order- and material flow process is included for a basic understanding of the situation. The study indicates that the problem is not always related to the physical flow. Instead the critical factor for a third party’s performance is more related to the sharing of information between all divisions. A contribution to the problem is the large volume fluctuations during the year. A more detailed analysis indicates that the warehouse has a problem to handle the volume peaks that occur some of the days. The consequence becomes a difficulty to deliver all orders to the customers at given time. The result of delayed transportation pickups is orders with intention to leave the warehouse, but instead blocking the out loading areas, The transportation companies hired to distribute Husqvarna´s products does not always fulfill the requirements for picking up the orders. The consequence is irregular pick up times, which obstruct the warehouse planning. Another contribution to the bottleneck is traditional booking routines that exist for both domestic and international shipments. The lack of communication and pore statistical data is also connected to the problem. This prevents the opportunity to improve the distribution process. From the problem analysis has a couple of improvements suggestions been discovered. To realize the potential of implementation an activity plan has been created for each suggestion. One of the activities is to create a smoother volume allocation for the flow. Modified routines of booking for pre seasonal orders can generate a better level of volume. An alternative for the problem is to disconnect goods from the areas of loading with help from extra trailer units. The solution will generate a better platform for planning of goods and personnel. Measurements and evaluation of transporters who indicates a defect performance will hopefully lead to a better quality. The future object is that every transport collects goods at the right day and time. To actualize all improvements a working communication will be important between all sections in the supply chain. Regular meetings with a recurring agenda should be held continuously related to the bottle neck.
When all suggestions are implemented hopefully all Husqvarna´s order will be able to leave the loading area at the given time, regardless day of the year.

Full textReaders of this study will take part of an examination in which the construction company PEABs logistical collaboration with Speed Logistics is in focus. The purpose of this study was to investigate planning in construction logistics where a third-party logistics is used, with a focus of the material procurement process and wether there could be potential improvements to reduce waste. Interviews and observations at Peab and Speed have been made, in order to get a clear picture of how the material procurement process works and how the actors involved experience it. The interview questions were based on the research question and the purpose of the study. After the interviews had been conducted and transcribed, a basis was laid for being able to write results and further analyze it based on the theory. The result and the analysis together laid the foundation for further discussion of what the result and the analysis turned out. This study is written in Swedish and has been based on a qualitative method with case study as a method where interviews and own observations were made. The study benefits readers who want to take part in any improvement measures that can be made in planning for the material procurement process.
