Abstract:
AbstractMultistep excavations were implemented at the toe of a large-scale slope model, and the surface displacements in the slope were measured to examine the validity of the relationship between the velocity and acceleration proposed by Fukuzono for excavated slopes. The surface displacement increased both during and after slope excavation, among which the latter was due to creep deformation under a constant stress. The rate of increase in the surface displacement was initially high and then decreased to zero during creep deformation after the excavation without slope failure. However, the surface displacement exhibited an accelerated increase during creep deformation after the final excavation prior to slope failure; the surface displacement increased with small fluctuations even before slope failure occurred. The surface displacement velocity and acceleration also fluctuated notably due to variations in the surface displacement. The trendlines for the derived relationships between the velocity and acceleration were in good general agreement with the measured data at certain locations in the model slope. These relationships were unique at different locations on the slope, while the inclination of the relationship trendline suddenly decreased just prior to slope failure. The steeper trendlines predicted an earlier failure time if the displacement was large and close to the failure condition, whereas they resulted in worse predictions if the displacement was small and far from causing slope failure according to the prediction method proposed by Fukuzono.

Abstract:
Ferenc Jánossy was the most important Hungarian pioneer of surveys on long time series. In the 1960s he devised the famous theory of trendlines, which allowed him to forecast the great world economic recession of the 1970s a decade in advance. The best-known international authority on compiling historical time series is Angus Maddison, who prepared time series of the main demographic and macroeconomic indicators for 56 countries, from 1820 to the present day. Both scientists, whose survey method showed both a historical and a quantitative approach, reached the conclusion that human capital is the most important of production factors for securing long-term economic growth. The main purpose of this paper is to compare their results with the latest development, which is known as the “new growth theory”.*

Abstract:
The cost of development of WPS will be very expensive if the welding parameter is selected based on trial and error. Optimal welding condition cannot be easily guessed unless the operator has records of good welding. If a calculator that can predict the welding parameter for the desired bead geometry accurately, such tool will be extremely useful for any fabrication industry. This paper intends to investigate the correlation between the welding parameter and weld bead geometry of 2F position T-fillet carbon steel, when welded by 1.2 mm diameter wire submerged arc welding. Keeping only one parameter as variable, 2F fillet weld coupons are welded by SAW with a range of welding current, welding voltage and welding speed. Only weld bead geometry that complied with the quality requirement of code of practice AWS D1.1 is considered. The trendline graph is created to fit the correlation between the heat input and the fillet weld geometry. By incorporating the trendline formulas into the calculator, the weld bead geometry can be predicted accurately for any welding parameter. The mean absolute deviation (MAD) between the predicted geometry and the experimental results is less than 0.50mm.

Abstract:
The thesis is about seeing if there is any correlation between temperature deviation and selected variables to increase the understanding of what affects the camera. The work is an improvement method where R programs are used for mathematical solutions. The methods used for this include data collection and scientific research. Based on the collected input data, the result could be obtained using these methods. An additional method was to connect two or more substances such as statistics and programming in a work where prior knowledge is used, the result is verified and the acquisition of knowledge continues. The purpose was to use prior knowledge and software to see if there is any connection between input data that is on company’s database. The correlation between different variables is something that is used daily in society, industry and the international conventions. The correlation between two variables shows the extent to which they are related. The result was obtained in the form of calculations, graphs and tables. There are indications that there is a weak correlation between camera angle and temperature deviation while there is a mean correlation between position and temperature deviation. There is a very weak correlation between holding times and temperature deviation, something that needs to be verified with several measuring points. There are no definite results due to various factors such as the number of measuring points, although there are some indications that all camera angles except 25 ̊ can be a solution by performing several number of measuring points at both angles. The indication is largest for position in the camera's field of view. As for holding time, there is an indication that it does not affect the camera, but more measurements are needed to verify that indication. The spread is also interesting. If the distribution is reasonably equal in the different cases, the position of the temperature deviation can always be adjusted with the aid of the emissivity.

碩士
朝陽大學
財務金融系碩士班
88
ABSTRACT In an efficient capital market, the expected return obtained from any trading rules cannot be better than buy-and-hold strategy. In this study, we use 45° Gann''s geometric angle trendline theory as the basis of buy-long and sell-short to test whether filter rules can get excess return and whether Taiwan stock market can support weak-form efficiency. In this study, our sample period is divided into formative and testing subperiods over 1988-1999. Our sample contains TAIEX and 29 listed firms in capital amount is not less than 2 billions each. In the testing process, filter rules employ buy-long and sell-short two strategies to operate respectively. In our empirical finding, with transaction cost, filter rules can obtain excess return,We conclude that filter rules can defeat both efficient market hypothesis. Thus, Taiwan stock market does not have evincible efficiency.

Abstract:
A cryogenic (325-80 K) ion mobility-mass spectrometer was designed and constructed in order to improve the analytical figures-of-merit for the chemical analysis of small mass analytes using ion mobility-mass spectrometry. The instrument incorporates an electron ionization source, a quadrupole mass spectrometer, a uniform field drift cell spectrometer encased in a cryogenic envelope, and an orthogonal geometry time-of-flight mass spectrometer. The analytical benefits of low temperature ion mobility are discussed in terms of enhanced separation ability, ion selectivity and sensitivity. The distinction between resolving power and resolution for ion mobility is also discussed. Detailed experimental designs and rationales are provided for each instrument component. Tuning and calibration data and methods are also provided for the technique. Proof-of-concept experiments for an array of analytes including rare gases (argon, krypton, xenon), hydrocarbons (acetone, ethylene glycol, methanol), and halides (carbon tetrachloride) are provided in order to demonstrate the advantages and limitations of the instrument for obtaining analytically useful information. Trendline partitioning of small analyte ions based on chemical composition is demonstrated as a novel chemical analysis method. The utility of mobility-mass analysis for mass selected ions is also demonstrated, particularly for probing the ion chemistry which occurs in the drift tube for small mass ions. As a final demonstration of the separation abilities of the instrument, the electronic states of chromium and titanium (ground and excited) are separated with low temperature. The transition metal electronic state separations demonstrated here are at the highest resolution ever obtained for ion mobility methods. The electronic conformational mass isomers of methanol (conventional and distonic) are also partially separated at low temperature. Various drift gases (helium, neon, and argon) are explored for the methanol system in order to probe stronger ion-neutral interaction potentials and effectuate higher resolution separations of the two isomeric ions. Finally, two versatile ion source designs and a method for axially focusing ions at low pressure (1-10 torr) using electrostatic fields is presented along with some preliminary work on the ion sources.

Abstract:
The meniscus receding process was studied for the axial steady flow in open rectangular microgrooves based on experimental results. Experimental results show that the liquid film recedes remarkably as a cubic trendline from the accommodation stage to the bottom corner-flow stage, but the dead zone and the step change don’t exist. The receding process of the liquid film between the accommodation stage and the bottom corner-flow stage is named jump-like transition in the paper. Characteristics of the axial flow in rectangular microgrooves were theoretically analyzed considering the meniscus receding performance in the jump-like transition, calculation results show that radius of the meniscus curvature decreases along the groove axis, which provides drive for the axial flow; the liquid cross sectional area and the liquid height decrease evidently at the stage of the jump-like transition; the liquid velocity increases along the axis, and increases promptly at the transition stage and the corner flow stage.

Abstract:
This paper presents findings of fracture experiments and analyses obtained as part of research on stable crack growth behaviour in low alloy steel (EN 34NiCrMo6). Results of fracture tests conducted on CT specimens of low constraint (section slenderness ratio, b0/B ∼6), with various a0/W ratios and different loading angles, φ, are presented. Analysis of results revealed that the point at which behaviour departs from linearity (attributed to initiation of stable crack behaviour) is similar relative to maximum-recorded load, Pmax. The load-line displacement, ΔLL at Pmax, ΔPmax, was also found to be similar. An attempt was made thus at representing results of fracture tests, in terms of a normalised P-ΔLL curves. Normalised experimental plots have shown to represent a single “master” curve characterising stable crack growth behaviour. The proposed method was also applied to other experimental data in the literature on other materials and of other specimen configurations and loading modes. Comparisons do show that the experimental results reduce to a single trendline. The proposed normalisation therefore does provide promising results in characterising stable crack growth behaviour and can contribute greatly to the addressing of transferability issue of fracture tests of low constraint specimens.

Abstract:
High temperature crack growth in weldments is of great practical concern in high temperature plant components. Cracking typically occurs in the heat affected zone (HAZ) and often propagates into adjacent parent material (PM). Recently, the importance of constraint effects on creep crack growth behaviour has been recognised and creep crack growth testing on a range of specimen geometries has been performed. Experimental crack growth testing has been performed at 550 °C on a range of fracture specimens using sections taken from a non-stress-relieved 316 steel weldment. These specimens include the compact tension, C(T), middle tension, M(T) and circumferentially cracked bar, CCB, geometries. Results are presented from two long-term creep crack growth (CCG) tests performed on M(T) weldment specimens and these are compared with available data on C(T) and CCB weldment specimens together with both long and short term tests on parent material for a range of specimen geometries. The creep crack initiation (CCI) and growth (CCG) behaviour from these tests has been analysed in terms of the C* parameter. As high levels of residual stress exist in non-stress-relieved weldments, the residual stresses remaining in the weldment specimens have therefore been quantified using the neutron diffraction technique. Long-term (low-load) tests are required on PM specimen to observe specimen constraint effects in 316 steel at 550 °C. When interpreted in terms of the C* parameter the CCG behavior of PM and Weldment materials follow the same trendline on low constraint geometries. However, significant difference is observed in the CCG behavior of PM and weldments on the high constraint C(T) geometry. Long term tests on C(T) specimen weldments are required to confirm the results found.

Abstract:
Abstract The paper describes the history of application in Ukraine the methods of critical temperature of brittleness (CTB is WWER’s analogue of PWRs ductile to brittle transition temperature) prediction. Also, a current state of chemical factor consideration in radiation embrittlement of PWR and WWER regulatory documentation is briefly presented. It is shown that a chemical factor for WWER RPV have to be defined. The present paper devoted to the identification of the radiation embrittlement chemical factor for welds only of RPV core region, since it is the most critical zone in terms of RPV resistance against fast fracture. For that, based on the results of WWER-1000 RPV surveillance program of all Ukrainian NPPs, the CTB shift database is created. And it is important to note that database of Ukrainian WWER-1000 reactors is the biggest among other WWER countries. With using the statistical treatment of CTB shift Database the degree of influence of each chemical element (C, Cr, Cu, Mn, Mo, Ni, P, S and Si) on WWER-1000 RPV weld radiation embrittlement is obtained. It is also found that Silicon and Nickel (in decreasing order) have the greatest impact on the CTB shift. At that, influence of other element separately – is negligible from practical point of view. Nevertheless, due to the literature data (in the radiation material science field) about impact of manganese, additional statistical investigations are performed, which showed us that Nickel and Manganese have synergetic effect which almost the same as level of impact from Silicon element alone. Similar treatments, as with pairs Silicon-Nickel and Silicon-Manganese, as well as Silicon or Nickel with any other element combinations, showed as absence of any other synergetic effect. Based on the statistical evaluation the general shape of CTB shift trend curve is proposed. Moreover, the recommendations related to the CTB shift trendline prediction are given, which, besides the chemical factor and shape of curve, include the way of considering the CTB shift data scatter. The obtained results are expected to be the basis in the modern regulatory method for radiation embrittlement assessment of the Ukrainian WWER-1000 RPVs.

Abstract:
Abstract This paper presents a study on the effects of transient and steady-state vehicle operation on fuel economy and emissions trends of an in-use Euro 2 Asian utility vehicle in the Philippines, with a normally aspirated direct-injection engine, and fueled with different CME-diesel blends designated as B1, B2, B3, B5, B10, B20, B50, & B100 corresponding to increasing CME percentage blends. The vehicle was driven on a chassis dynamometer following the Japanese 10-15 Mode drive cycle and at steady speeds of 40, 60, & 80 kph for fuel consumption and CO, NOx, and THC measurements. PM measurements were not undertaken. Drive cycle results showed that adding CME up to 20% by volume (B20) has a small effect on the heating values, specific fuel consumption (SFC), fuel economy (FE), and maximum power. Relative to neat diesel, the increase in SFC, lower FE and power beyond B20 were attributed to lower heating values at higher blends. CO was practically constant while THC and NOx generally decreased with increasing CME blends. The CO and THC trends were ascribed to overall lean mixtures and increased amount of oxygenated fuel at higher CME blends. B20 yielded the most emissions reduction without performance loss. Steady speed results indicated for all blends, SFC increased with vehicle speed due to higher road load. Above B10, SFC went beyond 5% higher than that for neat diesel and is attributed to lowered heating values of higher blends. The SFC of blends up to B10 approached that of neat diesel as speed increased suggesting more diesel-like combustion characteristics. The blend fuel economy showed an inverse relationship to SFC as expected. Both CO and NOx exhibited slightly decreasing trends with higher blends at all speeds. For a given blend, CO decreased while NOx increased as speed went higher. THC followed bowl-shaped trendlines with blend ratio. THC was high for neat diesel going lowest at B5-B10 and upwards again beyond B10. For a given blend, THC emissions decreased with increasing vehicle speed.
