Abstract:
This research paper examines the trends, patterns, and diversifications of overseas labour migration from Nepal to different countries worldwide. This study analyzes the changing trends of human resource migration from Nepal around the world. In the same way, it elucidates the causes of migration from Nepal. The study uses quantitative methods to analyze the data. Different census reports show a continuous flow of Nepalese workers, and military personnel abroad over the past 250 years. Due to relatively higher income levels in the Gulf States and Malaysia, the proportion of migrants going to India has drastically declined lately. A rapid migration of Nepalese to Gulf countries and other developed countries took place after 1990. The recent census data exhibit that the trend of migrating overseas to new destinations is increasing and it also reveals that the migrating tendency of males is about four times higher than that of females. Nepal, one of the world's major remittance-receiving developing countries, has gained recognition in recent years for gaining foreign currency from its migrant workers. As a result, Nepal has undergone transformations in the fields of its culture, political ideology, and technology. Therefore, overseas migration has contributed to the socio-economic development of the nation.

Abstract:
AbstractChinese emigration was part of the global wave of mass migration in the nineteenth century. After establishing the main quantities, sources, destinations, and timing of emigration, this article analyses trends in return and female migration, two quantifiable phenomena that are often said to distinguish Chinese from other migrations. These trends are compared between different flows of Chinese migration, both overseas and to Manchuria, and with non-Chinese migrations. The most interesting conclusions have methodological implications: first, comparisons should be situated as historical trends to better understand patterns of convergence or divergence between flows; second, some cycles and patterns may grow more similar across migration flows even as others diverge; third, the results of comparison will change along with the scale of units being compared; and finally, both extensive comparisons of specific flows and an awareness of the global context are necessary to understand the patterns and causes of mass migration.

Abstract:
Global bird migration is a complex phenomenon influenced by a multitude of factors, including climate change, habitat loss, and human activities. This paper explores the trends in migratory patterns observed over recent decades, highlighting shifts in timing, routes, and species distributions Bird migrations are behavioural occurrences, exemplifying intricate spatiotemporal tactics to optimise living expenses while enhancing fitness. Birds express a range of migratory patterns, from highly predictable obligate migration, to less predictable nomadic and fugitive migrations. Despite significant advancements in bird migration studies, still certain essential gaps remain. Due to technological advancement, bird migration studies have uncovered significant insights into the behavioural, cognitive, physiological, and evolutionary underpinnings. The seasonal variability of bird populations presents an intriguing phenomenon for avid observers to discern their origins, migratory routes, and return patterns. Among the remarkable migrations executed by several species of fish, animals, and insects, birds exemplify the highest degree of mobility among all living forms on Earth. This paper gives reasons for all Bird migration strategies with a view toward the preservation of Bird ecosystems and assurance of Environmental sustainability.

Donato, Katharine M. "Current Trends and Patterns of Female Migration: Evidence from Mexico." International Migration Review 27, no. 4 (1993): 748–71. http://dx.doi.org/10.1177/019791839302700402.

Abstract:
This study uses a new source of data to assess trends and patterns of female migration from Mexico. Data were collected from migrants interviewed in ten Mexican communities from 1987 through 1990, as well as from outmigrants from those communities who were later located in the United States. The first part of the analysis examines changes in migrant behavior throughout the 1980s by estimating trends in the probability of first-time and repeat migration and by assessing the impact of the Immigration Reform and Control Act (IRCA) on these trends. In general, migration probabilities were lower for women than those reported elsewhere for men, but the evidence suggests that, like men, once women begin migrating, they are virtually assured of migrating on a second trip. Results from the departure models in the second half of the article suggest that recent female migration reflects access to the productive resources in Mexican society and a process of family migration whereby women migrate after their husbands and fathers legalized as part of IRCA.

Edmonston, Barry. "Canada's Immigration Trends and Patterns." Canadian Studies in Population 43, no. 1-2 (2016): 78. http://dx.doi.org/10.25336/p64609.

Abstract:
Canada was settled by immigrants, including Aboriginal peoples who arrived thousands of years ago, French and British settlers who first began arriving in the 1600s, and people from many other nations who have migrated in the past four centuries. Now, almost 150 years since the Confederation of Canada in 1867, immigrants number 6.8 million and comprise 20 percent of the total population in 2011. Canada’s population has completed the demographic transition from high mortality and fertility to relatively low vital rates, but accompanied by continued, fluctuating international migration. Canada’s population reflects this fertility and mortality history, as well as the effects of international migration. Immigration has increased in significance in recent decades as one of the key factors influencing population change. This paper examines Canada’s trends and patterns in international migration.

Abstract:
After Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra, Bihar is the third most populous state in India with 104.1 million people (Census of India 2011). Men have been leaving Bihar for a long time. Bihar's economy is sometimes called a remittance economy due to the high rate of outmigration from the state in search of employment. Migration streams and patterns have changed within the past several decades. Migration destinations have mostly changed from rural to urban locations throughout time. Agricultural labor gave way to non-agricultural jobs, including rickshaw pulling, building and construction labor, carpentry, masonry, and part-time employment in the unorganised sector. This research paper attempts to determine the current trends and patterns of outmigration from Bihar using census data from 2001 and 2011, as well as PLFS data from 2020–2021.

Abstract:
When migration occurs, it has a significant impact on the lives and livelihoods of individuals, communities, societies, and the nation. In this regards, the paper aims to examine the patterns and trends of out-migration in Syangja district of Nepal. As key data sources, government records, Nepal Census Data 2021, and related reports were used for analysis. This research has employed a descriptive research approach for the analysis of the trends and patterns of migration in Syangja district. On the basis of secondary data, the information on the population growth, migration pattern and trend, causes of migration, and the preferred destination has been presented and discussed. The article has also discussed the factors influencing decisions on migration. The study reveals that people of Syangja had chosen to migrate both within the country and outside. The main reasons for migration were primarily employment and education, which is considerably lacking in Syangja. The findings indicate that migrants expect a higher standard of living as a result of their migration. Understanding the migration patterns and trends which are helpful for the policymakers and decision makers to formulate the district specific policy and strategy as well as to regulate and harness the benefits of migration.

Abstract:
The current migration patterns of Georgians to the United States are examined in this article, with special attention paid to the growing use of illegal migrant routes through Mexico. It looks at the socioeconomic elements that drive these changes as well as how U.S. immigration policy affect them. The consequences of stricter immigration rules, the difficulties faced by Georgian migrants, and the changing role of U.S. policies in influencing these patterns are all highlighted by talking about the trajectory of Georgian migration. In order to facilitate migrant integration and better control migration flows, the essay also makes policy proposals.

Abstract:
This research forms part of a larger epidemiological study, known as the Migrant Investigations of DeterminAnts of multiple Sclerosis (MIDAS) study, which was undertaken by The George Institute for Global Health in Sydney and Department of Public Health of the University of Sydney, Australia. It is an epidemiological study about the prevalence of multiple sclerosis (MS) in people living in the Greater Region of Sydney, with a focus on assessing the risk of this demyelinating disorder, which is thought to be influenced by ethnicity, area of residence during childhood, migration and other risk factors. The prevalence of several demyelinating diseases is described, including multiple sclerosis (MS), neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD), and opticospinal multiple sclerosis (OSMS). Characteristics of MS, NMO and OSMS are described separately, covering average ages at onset and diagnosis, and time between the onset of symptoms and diagnosis. The study also aimed to shed light on the burden of disease of these disorders; by grading the degree of disability among patients, according to the modified Rankin scale (mRS). The influence of ethnicity and migration in immigrants to Australia and Australian-born individuals is discussed taking account of changes in prevalence of MS in the state of New South Wales (NSW) in comparison to a previous epidemiological study undertaken in 1996.

Muthersbaugh, Michael S. "Seasonal activity patterns of bats in the Central Appalachians." Thesis, Virginia Tech, 2018. http://hdl.handle.net/10919/93761.

Full text
Abstract:
Two threats to bats are especially pervasive in the central Appalachian Mountains of the eastern United States: a fungal disease called White-nose Syndrome (WNS) and wind energy development. White-nose Syndrome has caused the death of millions of bats in North America, and multiple hibernating bat species are affected in the central Appalachians. Wind energy is one of the most rapidly-growing energy sources in eastern United States, and bats are often killed when they fly near wind turbines. Fatality rates at wind turbines is highest in bat species that migrate instead of hibernate. There is limited data on bats during the autumn and spring seasons in the central Appalachian Mountains, and the impacts of WNS and wind energy development may be exacerbated during these seasons. Therefore, I sought to determine patterns and drivers of activity for hibernating bat species during autumn and spring around hibernacula. Similarly, I set out to determine patterns and drivers of activity for migratory bat species during autumn and spring along mountain ridgelines in the central Appalachians. Lastly, I searched for evidence of potential WNS-induced changes in the summer ecology of the once common northern long eared bat. This study can help elucidate patterns of bat activity during largely understudied seasons. Furthermore, it can provide useful information needed by land managers to implement actions that could help alleviate and/or avoid potential additive negative impacts on bat species with existing conservation concerns.
MS

This thesis seeks to examine the internal and external migration trends in the Russian Federation. The thesis also examines the internal migration trends in the Soviet Union as well as Soviet emigration and migration policies. The thesis focuses mainly on the migration policy of the Russian Federation. The main argument of the thesis is that although ethnic dynamics, armed conflicts and nationalist clashes play important roles in Russia&rsquo
s migration trends, the main force of Russia&rsquo
s internal and external migration trends are economic. The thesis has four main chapters. After the introduction the first chapter examines migration in the Soviet Union. The second chapter explores migration policy of Russia. The third chapter deals with internal migration in the Russian Federation. The last main chapter discusses external migration in the Russian Federation.

Abstract:
The Al-Hammar wetland in Iraq is notable for having the highest densities of coastal migratory birds along the Arabian Gulf-Mediterranean Sea migration line. Despite the importance of these birds, there is no complete evaluation of their dynamics. The six migrating bird species (Mallard duck, Graylag geese, White pelican, Barn swallow, Common gull, White stork) were studied in the area, and the data were compiled and analyzed. Migration patterns have changed over the last two decades, as shown by changes in land cover between October 2000 and 2020 and in bird populations every ten years during the same period. A decrease in the remaining kinds of migrating birds was seen in total numbers between the years 2000 and 2020. Observing trends was impossible due to the extreme disparity between the data sets' respective sizes. A multivariate analysis shows a decrease in the number of species that rely on wetland habitats for food and breeding in the sublittoral and offshore zones of the study area. In comparison to total NDVI values, which decreased by 5%, 3.5%, and 15.6%, total NDWI values increased by 7.8%, 21.0%, and 62.6%. During the research phase. The qualitative characteristics of waterbodies and vegetation have been extensively measured using remote sensing and Gis techniques.

Abstract:
Problem of international migration evidence and statistics in Serbia is well known by far. Migration balance is calculated for entire intercensal period by vital statistics method. Values gained in such a way aren’t specified by age and generation, thus can be tracked only by period. In the other hand, mirror statistics doesn't provide much more than a crude migration balance estimation. In this article we will try to estimate migration balance by age and by cohort. Based on data on vital events and census data we will calculate migration balance, and all the indicators related to it. Analysis is covering the period from 1981. to 2022. and is related to the total population of Serbia. We will also analyse possible differences between generations and periods by statistical analysis. Such methodologically uncommon approach will give us valuable information about age-specific time-trends in migration of population in Serbia. Period effect should reveal are there any differences between pre-crisis (1981-1991) and post-crisis (2002-2022) period in the level of migration, cohort effect should reveal are there significant differences in international spatial mobility between generations, and, in the end, age effect should prove well known pattern of migration selectivity. Results should be applicable mostly in formulating assumptions about future migrations and theirs age-specific influence on total population of Serbia. Similar approach could be used for all lower territorial levels where data are available. Significance of knowing migration in detail is higher for demographic development in lower territorial units, so this procedure could find its application particularly in population projections of subnational level.

The projection outlines three potential scenarios—high, medium, and low—each offering different outcomes based on varying levels of improvement in healthcare, social policies, and migration patterns. Across all scenarios, the country is expected to experience a significant population decline due to low fertility rates, negative natural increase, and sustained emigration, particularly among the younger, working-age population. The article emphasizes the accelerating demographic aging process, which will place increasing pressure on the shrinking workforce to support a growing elderly population. The scenarios also explore the potential for mitigating these challenges through improved health services, increased fertility rates, and reduced emigration. However, even in the most optimistic scenario, the demographic decline remains a pressing issue. The results underscore the need for comprehensive, forward-thinking policies aimed at addressing the root causes of demographic decline. Proactive measures in healthcare, family support, and economic development are crucial to reducing the impact of these demographic trends and ensuring sustainable growth for Moldova's future.

Abstract:
This rapid evidence review provides an overview of migration in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC), encompassing flows, causes, and associated issues. Sections provide an overview of historic migration patterns and contemporary characteristics, highlighting significant trends such as extensive mixed migration and the impact of crises, notably in Venezuela and Haiti. The historical trajectories of migration in the region include waves of immigration from Europe to intra-regional movements and south-north migration flows. The review draws attention to the multifaceted nature of migration drivers and the dynamic, intersecting nature of migration flows in the region, emphasizing LAC's status as a key hub of international migration.

International headlines often focus on the drama of U.S.- Mexico border, but the borders of Latin America are becoming more active transit points for work across the region. Today, migration officials are noting labor movements inconceivable as little as 15 years ago: Hondurans and Guatemalans crossing to El Salvador for agriculture and construction work; Bolivians and Paraguayans working in large numbers in Argentina; Mexicans from the state of Chiapas moving to the Yucatan for work, with Guatemalans replacing them to harvest local crops. Coombs, Elizabeth, Orazio J. Bellettini Cedeño, and Paul E. Carrillo. Stay Public or Go Private?: A Comparative Analysis of Water Services between Quito and Guayaquil. Inter-American Development Bank, 2007. http://dx.doi.org/10.18235/0011284.

Abstract:
This paper computes several indicators of water coverage, quality, and prices in Ecuador's two largest cities: Quito and Guayaquil- both before and after the privatization of water services in Guayaquil. The type of data sources that are used make it possible to specifically control for income and, thus, to evaluate changes in water provision, particularly among the poor. These indicators provide useful information about how certain water-related services have changed over time and facilitate evaluating the performance of each company. It should be emphasized, however, that such estimates cannot be used to identify the causal effects of the privatization of water provision. In particular, differences in a) before-concession water-coverage trends, c) rural-to-urban migration patterns, and c) other idiosyncratic institutional characteristics between these two cities, suggest that Quito may not be a suitable control group for identifying the casual effects of privatization.
